So welcome to Season 18 where I'm talking all about color
magic. If you haven't listened to my
other seasons yet, you can checkthose out.
And today I'm talking about the color orange.
So we'll go through a brief description of what is the color
orange. We'll talk about color magic,
(08:43):
we'll talk about color and tarot, we'll talk about day of
the week correspondences with color.
And then we'll get into some of my decks and how the color
orange shows up in those. And then we'll end with talking
about what pulling a card about what how we can work with the
color orange today. So get excited.
(09:07):
So let's get into what is the color orange.
So the orange is a color betweenyellow and red on the spectrum
of visible light in traditional color theory.
It's a secondary color, right? So we have like mixed by mixing
yellow and red in the red, green, blue color model I talked
(09:28):
about this last time, but we have sort of the pigment type of
color and then we have the like light version of color.
So in that one, red, green, blue, it's actually not a
secondary one, but a tertiary color.
And of course, orange, the coloris named after the fruit of the
(09:48):
same name. Orange is the color of money,
fruits and vegetables, carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes,
oranges, and all of those colorscome from carotene, which is a
type of photosynthetic pigment. So these pigments can actually
convert light energy that the plants absorb from the sun into
a chemical energy for the plant growth.
(10:10):
And similarly, the hues of like autumn leaves falling right as
they turn from green to I guess like red, orange, yellow, and as
they fall is part of that process as well.
And it's when the pigment, it's the same pigment after the
(10:31):
chlorophyll is actually removed. And let's see, in Europe and the
US, survey show that orange is the color most associated with
amusement, the unconventional extroversion, warmth, fire,
energy, activity, danger, taste and aroma.
(10:52):
And then we also have the sort of like autumn season as well.
It's also associated. It's the national color of the
Netherlands. If you ever watch like the
Olympics they always have brightorange like gear on.
And interestingly it's the political colour of the
(11:13):
Christian democracy, political ideology and most Christian
democratic political parties in Asia.
It's an important symbolic colour in Buddhism and Hinduism.
OK, so let's get into more of the colour magic side of things.
Let's see here. So in color magic, which I'm
(11:36):
getting this info from forum.spellsa.com, an article on
color magic, they talk about that orange is associated with
the sacral chakra. Orange is the color of sexual
energy and creativity, the womb and all that awaits creation in
this lifetime. So if you think about where your
like sacrum is, it represents flow, movement and flux as well
(11:58):
as transformation. So again, we kind of have that
like fiery creativity, transformation aspect of the
color. On rachelpatterson.co.uk on
their post about color magic, they talk about that orange is
associated with the God strength, healing, attracting
things, vitality, adaptability, luck, encouragement, clearing
(12:22):
the mind, justice, career goals, legal matters, selling action,
ambition, and general success. All right.
And then previously I've talked about the days of the week
correspondences, but I'm pretty sure orange is not on here.
We have yellow for Sunday, whitefor Monday, red for Tuesday,
(12:47):
which is associated with the planet Mars.
So we could sort of have again, some of that energy of it,
right? If you see images of the planet
Mars, it is reddish orange, I would say, right?
It's very dusty, at least these days.
It seemingly had water on it in the past.
We keep finding that, but right now it's a very dune esque
(13:14):
looking planet. Wednesday's purple, Thursday's
blue, Friday is green and Saturday is black.
And I think we've colored or we've covered all the other
colors at this point with that. So we don't actually have the
specific day of the week correspondence for it.
But let's start to think about orange in tarot.
(13:36):
I would say it's often associated with that sort of
like fiery a gun creative energy.
So in the Sasser Beto tarot deck, I pulled 3 cards from
there that have orange. So the first one right?
That fire energy. The chariot.
I love the chariot card actuallydressed like the chariot when I
went to my therapist to tarot retreat.
(13:58):
So stay tuned for when I dress as the chariot when I'm doing my
Tarot for transformation workshops on that card, I have
this dress that's like sort of like fall colored.
It's like purple. And then it changes to at the
(14:19):
bottom sort of like red, orange, yellow.
And that was my that was my chariot outfit.
So we have that one, which again, the chariot is all about
like driving forward. Again, you think of like a
chariot, like a Roman chariot going into like battle or in
like the Roman like in the Colosseum when the thing that
(14:40):
gets when you're a little cart pulled by a horse.
So the chariot card is often depicting a horse.
It has this like in this particular card, in this
iteration of it, the horse is wearing like armor and it has
like its mouth open like it's mad or it's like brain or and
it's like looks like it's like blocking.
So a lot of movement and energy to that card, which I do think
(15:04):
Orange is associated with. And then yeah, what else sort of
as I think about, we don't necessarily have the, I guess
there's movement, right, associated with that card.
I'm just looking across some of the other things I talked about.
(15:25):
I think like goals, right, like ambition, action moving forward.
All of that is associated with the chariot.
So I think orange is associated with that in color magic.
So I also pulled the page of wands, which again wands and
even on this card. So it depicts like a femme
presenting person wearing like blue, but they have this like
(15:46):
Bray orangey red ombre hair. They have like a staff as their
wand and then they have actuallylike an image of like a bonfire
on their clothing, like on theirchest.
And we get that bright orange again.
So we have the orange hair and the orange there.
And then we have the wands, which wands are the fire element
(16:07):
and tarot associated with creativity, with literal fire,
with sort of that creation destruction, which I do think
like some of that is kind of like how sexual energy and
creativity is, right? Again, if we think about like
literal creation or right, the potential products of sex, you
(16:33):
do have like a gun creation in that space.
Well, so we have here wands, Yeah.
Again, about sort of creativity, movement, transformation.
Also, again, if you think about how a fire, you know, turns wood
into right, flames and the heat and then right, charcoal and
(16:57):
ash, right, it has this transformative power about it.
And then finally, I pulled the four of Pentacles, which is just
what's interesting. I think I'm actually going to
read for the book on this one because it's not totally clear
to me why parts of this are orange.
But again, we have someone depicted with sort of orangey
burnt orange hair and they're sort of like bent over.
(17:21):
Oh, this is like the hoarding card I remember now.
And they are holding 4 pentacles.
They're sort of the shape of like, I don't know, an orange or
maybe even like larger like a bowling ball.
And they're trying to hold them all in their arms and they're
very like hunched over, right? As if they're sort of trying to
(17:44):
keep it all to themselves or kind of horning it.
So yeah, the four of Pentacles about greed, stubbornness and
clinging. The author says.
I call this the Gollum card. The illustration shows a person
greedily hoarding 4 large gold discs, clinging to the objects
of his desire. His eyes are closed off and his
mind is set while in a positive light.
(18:06):
This card highlights the value of being conservative with
money. The warning is about ego and
wanting to possess and maintain control.
So I would say that's kind of the other thing right?
About sort of like orange energyand even how fire is, right
where it's like fire can be, it can be controlled and like often
(18:27):
it gets out of hand. Again, if you live in a place
where there are forest fires, you know this, right?
It can start with a single sparkand then destroy thousands of
acres of land or transform, we'll say, let's see.
It says the person on this card wants to be in charge, set the
(18:48):
rules and is resistant to change.
So interesting, right? It's still sort of like about
change. But actually it's the sort of
like desperation, the clinging to like not wanting things to be
transformed, right? Stagnation, discomfort.
It says he has what he wants. He naturally wants everything to
stay the same. This card's about the belief
(19:10):
that once you can grasp what youwant most, you're golden.
But the reality is that nothing lasts forever and that clinging
can cause more suffering. And again, pentacles are about
sort of like material goods, thematerial world.
So like literal things, right? Again, they're sometimes
depicted as coins, so right associate with money as well.
(19:32):
And I do think that there's something again, sort of like
energetically about this about like sometimes when we really
like cling to money, then it just seems to right, sort of
like fall through our grasp. Or that there's almost this
energy of like, you have to wantit, but not too much or like
care about it, but do the work to put it in.
Or I don't know that there's something there that's sort of
(19:56):
related to this about, right, That I mean, also in the in our
current timeline, there are billionaires that hold on to
their money and have so much of it.
And there is the sort of desperate clinging, grasping
where it's a bit like most people cannot even imagine how
one would spend that much money or why those people, right, have
(20:18):
sort of ended up in this place of like greed, possession,
maintaining control instead of. Again, sort of seen their money
as a way to transform other people's lives in the positive,
right. They have sort of taken it in
this way often as a way to transform the world, I would
(20:42):
say, negatively. And again, not all, but
certainly I would say most billionaires, certainly it says,
although absolutely enjoy material comfort when you have
it, but don't take it for granted and don't be a 2 year
old about it. So I do feel like that is that
(21:02):
is a bit of the energy of this card.
OK. And then the other deck that I
pulled cards from was the therapist who Tarot deck by
prompts by Drea Bloom, images byRebecca Bloom and I pulled So in
this deck, the swords cards are all have like an orange border
to the card. So I pulled the five of swords
(21:24):
and the daughter of swords. That would be the knight, I
believe. Yeah, I think so equivalent
there. And so the five of swords and
this deck is like fives are often about the sort of like
(21:46):
destruction or chaos or conflict.
And five of swords is certainly about kind of like the
destruction. And again, if we think of the
fact that the fives are in between and the minor arcana we
have, we start with aces and we sort of end the cycle with 10's.
The the court cards are considered sort of like a like a
(22:07):
cherry on top, I would say. So the five right is here in the
middle. So again, if we think about how
fireworks that like you can start it and in the middle is
when like it's doing the most destruction, most likely, right?
Like it's when it's burning the hottest, it's jumping far.
It's you could probably keep feeding it would right, if it's
(22:28):
a bonfire and it will just keep consuming, consuming and getting
bigger and producing more heat. And then right.
So we do have the almost like it, it's harnessing this like
extremely destructive energy, which again, like sometimes we
need destruction in order to rebuild new things.
But right, again, if we think about how fire is like best be
(22:51):
careful or best best be cautiousabout what that fire is around
or how dry everything else is orkind of what you're using it for
as to whether it's going to sortof be able to maintain and
control. So I also said I pulled the
daughter of swords here, which this one is talks about
(23:12):
curiosity, right? So that's like another aspect of
transformation or sort of havingthis like energy behind the
cards. So it's interesting, of course,
because I talked about ones, right?
And the other deck is being right, the one that had orange
in it. And this deck, it's the sword.
So swords are associated with the air element, intellect,
(23:35):
overthinking, anxiety. I'm just sort of being in your
head again, can be positive or negative, but right, this is
sort of the positive thing of itof like you have curiosity,
right? Like a lot of creativity is
sparked by curiosity. I would say like thinking about
right, what's interesting, what nourishes you, what feels fun,
(24:00):
what right has transformed you again, maybe in like a positive
or a negative way and creating art or creating something out of
that space. So this card is very much one of
the prompts on the back of it says what makes you feel alive,
right? I do think the color orange is
very much that energy of like what makes you feel alive, which
(24:21):
again, I think when we think about like the chakras, like
sacral chakra, right, sexual energy, creativity, those things
can really make you feel alive. And then the final card I pulled
in this deck, which again, I might look at the back of it to
see a bit more of what it's about.
So this is another Pentacles. So in this deck, they're
(24:42):
depicted as spirals sort of the natural element or, or like the
the way that so spirals, right, exist in nature.
Coins are created by humans and so spirals are sort of like the
one of the historical ways of depicting the pentacles or coins
(25:04):
suit. And so spirals, right again, are
a thing that exist in nature andare sort of this, I would say
also transformative energy, right?
We get the kind of like beginnings and endings of a
spiral. You get the right, if you think
about being a gun, sort of, we go back to the swords aspect.
If you think about being like you can get wound up, right?
(25:25):
Like that is sort of like going in a spiral or even like a
thought spiral usually means like, oh, you're like you're
spiraling down, right? You're you're overthinking.
You're a lot of things going on and you're sort of moving out of
reality. Well, right, like spirals,
pentacles, coins, those are about things in the material
world. And so here this card says it's
(25:46):
about effort. And we have a person here
depicted in a bright orange likedress.
She sort of looks like she's like petting or touching like a
green hedge that's full of spirals.
So the prompts on the back here say where would you like to go
in what area of your life shouldyou be more disciplined and
about what should you be more stubborn, right?
(26:08):
So again, if we think about how orange is this representation of
flow and movement, right? It can also be just as I would
say, like right, the opposite ofmovement again is like standing
still, right, or being disciplined or perhaps stubborn,
right? So we can think about it in the
aspect of like, what are you going to do?
(26:30):
Where are you going to go? Like right, what are you going
to do with that energy? And then also when when are you
going to intentionally pause, right?
Or maybe not do the most fun thing and like, do something
that is more disciplined or maybe that.
Yeah, like a place where you need to be more stubborn, right?
(26:50):
You, you think this is a good idea?
No one else believes you, right? That like that energy, that
creativity, the spark, the passion, right?
Of the color orange can also allow you to just, like, ignore
everyone else, right. Again, for better or worse.
And that is how like being stubborn can be.
So that's sort of what I see here with these orange cards.
(27:15):
Let's go ahead and pull a card about how can we work with the
color orange today, And I'm going to pull from my newest
deck, the Seasons of the Witch Salwin Oracle.
I just got this, I think over the weekend.
I've been pulling cards from it every day just kind of on my
(27:35):
own. This deck is red and black, so
we have similar energy here Sowin, right, also a time of
transformation, connecting with ancestors, right, but also sort
of often transforming seasons. We have a lot of orange at the
(27:56):
time of year, at least in the Northern Hemisphere around
Sowin. Pumpkins, right?
Again, leaves falling, other squashes, sweet potatoes,
carrots, all of those things actually are pretty much all
fall and crops, at least where Ilive.
(28:20):
OK, so how can we work with the color orange today?
What do we need to know? Is there anything we're missing?
OK, I pulled voices. This is number 42.
And again, this is an Oracle deck, so we don't have our
traditional tarot structure, butlet's see if we can interpret
this. So voices with a tug at the gut,
feel them. Romance your very breath.
(28:43):
Listen to the gentle flickering within your eyes, for this is
where they died. And actually, we have some
orange on this card. It's not a bright orange, but we
sort of see three people wearingdifferent intricate clothes or
(29:03):
dresses and kind of like apron things over them.
So let's see here. Voices 42 OK, so upright it says
it's about encouragement and inner knowing.
Voices surround us, but we have to listen carefully.
The powers speak to us in many different ways, encouraging us
(29:25):
as we travel along our path. There is a voice that can be
found in the plants, animals, color, shapes, winds and rains.
There are clues offering us guidance and encouragement as we
make our way to the true self. Spirit speaks to us in symbols,
signs, faint sounds, and subtle clues.
Our wise ancestors knew this. They knew everything has
(29:46):
something to say. For those who know how to listen
not just with their ears, but with their entire body, mind,
and soul, this card has come to you as a reminder to listen to
the guidance offered by Spirit through your environment.
One of the best ways to connect is to go out in nature.
Ask a question to the wind and listen for an answer.
(30:06):
Perhaps a plant suddenly moves nearby or something floats on
the wind just in front of your face.
These are all signs from Spirit to you.
Ask your question and wait for the powers that be to answer.
Be open minded about the ways ananswer can appear.
Look for synchronicities or consistent signs that come
together to tell a story. Something is a sign if you feel
(30:29):
a connection to it, no matter how silly it seems.
Trust in your ability to receivethe language of Spirit.
The powers that be will see thisand will offer more to you.
All right, well, thank you for that message, Orange.
And that again was the seasons of the Witch, Sao, and Oracle,
illustrated by Giada Rose and created by Lorraine Anderson and
