Zeal for your house has consumed me (Ps. 69:9). The action has been building toward a confrontation with the way God's House is being misused. In this episode we see Jesus cleanse the Temple, and confront he Religious Leaders yet again.
Entry - Season 5 is the season of the Last Supper, and covers the events of Holy Week leading up to Jesus' arrest. In Episode 1 we see the Triumphal Entry. Jesus struggles to help the Disciples understand what is coming, and does not hold back when confronting the religious leaders.
Humble - in an often-overlooked episode, Jesus is anointed, and the implications are powerful. And as we close out Season 4, we are brought to precipice of an amazing string of events.
"The Last Sign" - In this episode we see the anticipated miracle - the raising of Lazarus. Tensions mount as the group ponders the implications of this with the religious leaders.
"Dedication" - Things get real, as the Sanhedrin sets their sites on publicly silencing Jesus. And a conference at the Temple, during the Feast of Dedication, proves dangerous.
"Sitting, Serving, Scheming" - In this episode, we see the familiar event of Jesus teaching at Lazarus' house, and the conflict between Mary and Martha. Jesus has some important lessons to teach, However, we also see the scheming and politics in the Sanhedrin, as the danger begins to escalate.
"Calm Before" - In the aftermath of the events from the previous episode, the group struggles with loss. But a long-awaited event, involving a "Centurion" and his servant, finally happens, and gives us a great picture of faith.
"Moon to Blood" - this is a difficult episode. The tensions surrounding Jesus and His followers, arising from both the religious leaders and the Roman officials, begins to mount in ways that have tragic consequences. We have a lot to unpack in this episode.
"Confessions" - In this episode we some important teaching on Division, and on Forgiveness. And Simon has to live into his faith in a new way.
Promises - Season 4 kicks off with a very somber event, one we've been anticipating for some time. Both the first and last chapters of the Baptizer's life are celebrated in this episode.
Malachi is the last book in this collection, and the last book of the Old Testament. The prophet speaks to the people after the rebuilding of the Temple, reminding them of the way God has called them to live.
With Haggai and Zechariah, we shift from a time before the exile, to the time when the people have recently returned from Exile to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. These two prophets spoke into the world of an uncertain people, trying to rebuild their lives, their city, and their faith in face of opposition.
