EXHIBITIONISTAS TRAILER – Contemporary Art, Exhibitions, Artists, Art Theory & History for Everyone

Exhibitionistas is a conversational art podcast created by me, visual arts curator and writer, Joana P. R. Neves, as an invitation for everyone to engage with contemporary art. Some episodes are centred around solo exhibitions; others are guest interviews engaging with the real art world beyond sensationalist auction sales and obsolete art review styles; and, finally, I also produce special episodes about chosen art angles.

As an art professional with a 20 year experience in the art world with galleries, museums, artist creative processes, and the art market, I provide access to visual arts from the inside. So, I bring up art theory, art history and professional takes on exhibitions and art-making but, as an art lover, I avoid art jargon. Contemporary visual arts engages with popular culture, life experiences, singular perceptions, as much as with ideas and concepts. Exhibitionistas stands at the intersection of life, theory and art.

I'm an independent writer and curator with a wide-ranging 2
decades career in contemporary art.
But when I'm asked what I do outside the outworld, the
inevitable reaction is, oh, I don't know anything about

contemporary art. Ouch.
So call it a midlife crisis, call it arrogance, but I gave
myself the task of trying to fill that gap with Co host
conversation episodes centered around a genuine exchange of
thoughts, feelings and precious context around solo exhibitions.

My. Reaction was to rush back and
just say what's important, What do I have to do today?
Who am I? Very, very meaningful, deep and
emotional reaction which really made me question myself and for
that I'm so grateful to Ankara. Liberty is an art advisor and I

love that she who works in and with the art market brings such
a strong existential take. We also discuss current topics
with an open spirit. Experience is going to be really
subjective. Everyone is going to have their
own experience, they own artworkinside this kind of metaverse.

I was trying to follow the arms so anticlockwise around the

in the work of German artist Irma Blank.
Have a listen. At the turn of the century, as
many artists from her generation, Blank saw, the
information, communication and data were connected.
But her focus was on what communication would become once

the world established itself as a global net across the world.
Thus she started a new series called Global Writings.
Moving away from paper. It seemed that paper, after all,
was a personal affair, a diary, a skin, a body.
