Scott Moak is living out his childhood dream. As a kid, he sat in Section 213 Row E and rooted on his hometown Sacramento Kings. The Sacramento native became the Public Address Announcer for the same franchise in 2002. How did he get there? Passion, a plan, and lots of practice. And now in his 19th season, it is easy to see that the passion hasn't left the building. In fact, he just gets better. 

In today's episode of Experience the Buzz, Host Steve Buzzard spends time with Moak talking about how this childhood dream came to fruition. "I can't think of a better story to have where someone who is from Sacramento, grew up watching the Kings, and then getting the opportunity to be the in-house voice for the Kings. So cool and couldn't have happened to a better guy" Our conversation hits THREE areas: 

• Segment ONE 💥  focuses on Moak's childhood that led to the moment. The moment was hearing a teacher that called himself the "Golden Voice" at John F. Kennedy High School. The seed was planted and after a lot of hard work, Moak uncovers for us how he got the Kings P.A. position and what people need to know about being a public address announcer where mistakes don't have a home. 
• Segment TWO 💥 goes back to the KDVS student radio days when Moak was attending UC Davis. Moak then transitions to 2013 when it was thought that Sacramento would lose their beloved Kings. Moak does a great job of comparing Arco Arena (amongst other names) to Golden One Center. Transition to soccer. Moak, who is the Vice President of the team, updates us on the latest news surrounding the team and their quest to become an MLS franchise.
• Segment THREE 💥 kicks off with life during Covid as an NBA announcer. That includes the night the game between the Kings and New Orleans Pelicans was cancelled to calling games this season inside an empty stadium. Moak unveils his favorite moments as well as gives us insight on his other project where he is the co-host of Studio 40 Live weekdays at Noon. We finish it off with Rapid Fire (newspaper route, Lady Gaga, Ted Lasso).

Here are some of my favorite HIGHLIGHTS  ...
▪️1. The importance of pronunciation when it comes to NBA Player's names.
▪️2. The fact that Scott and I represent half of the number of announcers that the Kings have had in Sacramento (I was the P.A. voice in 1999). Ira C. Smith (2000 + 2001) will live in infamy. Just hearing that name for the first time in a long time brought back some memories.
▪️3. His story about fraternity brother and radio partner Eric Hassletine when describing the  UC Davis vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville Playoff game in 1997. Felt like it was yesterday.

Our Connection | I met Scott when he was a student at UC DAVIS and broadcasted games with Eric Hassletine. We had a couple of classic road trips to Carson-Newman in Tennessee (1996) and Texas A&M-Ki
