Speaker 1 (00:08):
I'm going to talk to
you today about the authority or
the power of your faith and thefive absolutes regarding your
faith.
This is what faith is.
It cannot be taken away fromyou when you move by faith.
So we're going to start off in1 Corinthians, chapter 2, and I
(00:33):
want to read to you, beginningat verse 12.
Now we have received not thespirit of the world, but the
spirit which is of God, that wemight know the things that are
freely given to us of God.
That is a powerful passage ofScripture.
In that particular passage welearn immediately that God gave
(01:02):
us the Holy Spirit and the HolySpirit is not the spirit of the
world, it's not related in anyway to the world or to any
ideology that is found in theworld today that it's the spirit
which is of God, or it's God'sspirit and the reason that it's
(01:27):
given to us that we might knowthe things that are freely given
to us of God.
God gives it.
He doesn't demand us to pay forit and we're going to be able
to use that to grow strong inthe Lord.
We're going to be able to usethe Holy Spirit to guide us in
encouraging one another and alsoit'll help us perform and carry
(01:50):
out the missions that God sendsus on.
So which things also?
We speak, not in the wordswhich man's wisdom teaches, but
which the Holy Ghosts teach us,comparing spiritual things with
spiritual.
First Corinthians, 2, 14,.
But the natural man receivednot the things of the spirit of
(02:14):
God, for they are foolishnessunder him and neither can he
know them because they arespiritually discerned.
So it shows me that whenever weare ministering to anybody,
they're open to receive whatwe've got.
God has prepared their heartsand we are able to speak by the
(02:41):
power of the Holy Spirit intotheir lives.
Now, this is not something thatwe do in our own strength or
our own wisdom, or anythingregarding our worldly and
fleshly skills and abilities.
This is all done by the HolySpirit.
(03:02):
What God does and what he worksin through us, this is the new
creature in Christ that's moving.
This is the ministry gifts thatwe have.
So we have these gifts, we havethese abilities.
And now what is stopping us?
Well, the fact is that when youbegin to move by faith, nothing
(03:27):
can stand between you and whatGod's purpose and God's
intention is for you to walk outand fulfill.
It is wrong to think that thedevil or any human being could
stop us from doing that whichGod wants to do in and through
(03:49):
us.
1.
1 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse5, says this that your faith
should not stand in the wisdomof men but in the power of God.
That is the first absolute thatI want you to understand and to
(04:15):
consider, to take on board, ifyou will.
Your faith has nothing to dowith the wisdom of the human
mind or the culture of the world.
It has everything to do withthe power of God.
(04:35):
That's where your faith stands, and when you release your faith
and you are saved, you arefilled with the Holy Spirit, you
have power.
That's what Jesus said in Acts1.8.
He said after this when theHoly Ghost has come upon you,
you shall have power.
(04:56):
So the first absolute that weunderstand is that your faith,
my faith, does not stand in thewisdom of men, but your faith
stands in the power of God.
Principle number one your faithstands in the power of God.
(05:16):
Number two this is absolutewhen you are saved, filled with
the Holy Ghost, moving by faith.
This will not alter or changeone bit your faith is true
because of the resurrection ofJesus Christ.
(05:37):
When we think about this, thatthe power of the resurrection we
are able to stand in, that weget saved.
Because of that, we're able todo the work of God, because
Jesus rose from the dead.
(05:57):
That's why, philosophers of theworld, human wisdom, every once
in a while you will find a, itseems to me anyway, a
bombardment against whetherJesus truly died or not, or if
he did die, did he resurrect?
And of course, as far as man issinking and human understanding
(06:21):
, of course Christ did not raisefrom the dead.
But the Bible tells us andremember the Bible, that's our
solid foundation, the HolySpirit.
We know that Jesus Christ rosefrom the dead.
And do you know that if therewas no resurrection, if Jesus
(06:49):
did not raise from the dead, then everything that we would
try to do by faith would notwork.
It would be completely in vain, according to 1 Corinthians,
chapter 15 and verse 17.
No resurrection, your faith isin vain.
(07:10):
You could try to exercise yourfaith all you want, but nothing
would be happening because therewould be no power there for it.
There would be no way that Godwould honor that.
But Jesus did raise from thedead, he arose, and we walk in
(07:32):
that resurrection power.
We are filled with the Spiritof God and when that happens, my
friend, your faith isunstoppable.
So don't think for one momentthat there's nothing to this.
We cannot please God withoutfaith, and our faith needs to be
(08:01):
in operation.
I'm reminded of a passage out ofJames, the second chapter, in
the 17th verse.
It says faith by itself, if itdoes not have works, it's dead.
If you don't exercise it, it'sdormant and it's doing
(08:24):
absolutely nothing.
What I want to share with youtoday is this one no one else
has dominion over your faith.
Nobody can command you to moveby faith.
Nobody can command you not tomove by faith.
Nobody can say well, use faithnow or don't use faith now.
(08:46):
Nobody has that authority.
That authority is givenstrictly, solely to you by God
Himself.
God says you are the one whohas dominion over your faith.
Do not try to blame it onsomebody else.
(09:09):
So we're going to say well, whatabout people such as yourself,
pastor Don, or other people whotry to talk to me about faith
and tell me what to do?
What is going on there?
They're not trying to controlyou.
They're not trying to say thisis what you must do and you must
do this now, this way.
(09:29):
No, what we are doing whensomebody encourages you in your
faith according to 2 Corinthians1-24, what is happening is they
are merely helpers.
They are helping you.
They're helping you to get upand go on.
(09:51):
They're helping you to know inwhich direction they're helping
you and telling you by don'tgive up, don't surrender, but as
far as dominion.
Whether or not you are going tomove by faith, that is
completely up to you and, as abeliever, god wants you to move
(10:17):
by faith, because we read inHebrews that it's impossible to
serve God or to please God if wedon't have faith.
So, and faith is so necessary,it was so necessary that Jesus
even questions his disciplesonce and he said where's your
faith?
They need to be using it.
(10:39):
The fourth absolute regardingyour faith.
Nobody can take this away fromyou.
You are able to increase yourfaith, demonstration,
manifestation wise.
I believe that as we growstronger, as we become walking
(11:03):
commitment to the Lord and as wemature, I believe that our
faith does increase.
And I believe that when we're achild, we think as a child, but
when we become a man, we putaway childish things, we move on
into deeper and greater realms.
(11:25):
According to 2 Corinthians,chapter 10 and verse 15, when
your faith the Bible says isincreased.
And, of course, when thathappens, everybody's enlarged.
We're all enlarged yourteachers, your helpers, the
(11:47):
believers who are near you, yourfriends everybody is increased
as your faith increases.
It makes sense, doesn't it?
When you increase, you're ableto get more.
When you don't have it, youcan't give it.
And as we grow, we learn how tohandle, we learn how to be very
(12:15):
sensitive to the moving of theHoly Spirit, and God will come
and He'll just speak to you.
You've just got to do it.
You just got to step out bythat, because God is wanting you
to do that.
So that encourages me when Ithink about that, that I can
enlarge my faith.
(12:36):
And the fifth absolute that I'dlike to share with you is this
your faith is a ministry.
It's a ministry to you and asyou move in your ministry, you
are able to encourage manypeople.
It's a ministry.
(12:58):
It's not something that somepeople have and some people
don't.
It's not like that kind ofministry like some would be
apostles or some would beevangelists or some would be
helpers.
It's not that kind of aministry.
What it is, it's the HolySpirit ministering to you and as
(13:21):
your faith increases andmanifests, it strengthens you
and anything that strengthensyou in your walk with God is a
ministry.
So let me just go over thosefive absolutes.
(13:43):
Number one your faith stands inthe power of God.
It's in none other.
Number two your faith is truebecause of the resurrection of
Jesus Christ.
Number three no one else hasdominion over your faith.
(14:08):
Number four you are able toincrease your faith.
And number five your faith is aministry toward yourself.
It blesses the heart of God andI'm sure it blesses many
(14:28):
believers as they watch you moveforward by faith and, as a
result, they all receive ThankGod for that.
So you are exactly who God saysyou are.
You are a born again, spiritfilled, faith, walk in, believer
(14:51):
, and God wants you to live inincrease every day, want you to
mature, he wants you to grow, hewants you to see, he wants you
to be enlarged.
And faith takes us there.
You know why Because he's Godand he's given you the power and
(15:17):
you are who God says you are.
So recognize you've got thisincrease.
Recognize that God gave youthat ability to accept the
increase and to walk in thevictory or the fullness of that
increase.
(15:39):
There is no place to be found inthe body of Christ for a
believer to be fearful or afraid.
When we are in that state, wecannot contribute life to anyone
.
That's why the enemy tries tokeep believers knocked off their
stride.
He's always accusing them ofsomething.
(16:01):
He's constantly trying to stopthem.
God's increasing you and youare becoming more and more like
Jesus every day.
You're walking out in so manyareas.
So listen to what God speaks toyou.
Obey that command and you'regoing to be able to stand upon
(16:25):
what Paul said in 1 Corinthians2.4.
He said my speech and mypreaching was not with enticing
words of man's wisdom, but indemonstration of the Spirit and
of power.
Be encouraged by this word.
