SPEAKER_00 (00:13):
Ministering out of
the 10th chapter of the book of
Acts, Peter was the leadingapostle.
When the Holy Spirit was pouredout in the upper room in Acts
chapter 2, it was Peter who toldthe people of Jerusalem what was
going on.
From verse 9 through to 23, it'sall about what's happening with
(00:38):
Peter.
He's gone to Joppa, he's with atanner, and he's up on the
rooftop.
He gets hungry 12 noon.
He wants to eat.
Falls into a trance, and in thetrance, this blanket comes down,
has all kinds of animals in it,and creepy, crawly animals.
(01:01):
And Peter said, You ain't gonnaget me to touch that.
No way, that's unclean stuff.
I'm not touching that.
And God's preparing Peter tocarry out a major mission in his
life and in his ministry.
(01:22):
Many times when things start outsmall, we may think there's not
much in it or this doesn't havemuch value.
We don't know the outcome.
I've always been reminded of theword of the Lord that says,
Despise not the day of smallbeginnings.
(01:44):
And it's amazing what God willdo with you.
When you will follow on to knowthe Lord, you will realize quite
quickly that it's not you andwhat you're doing, it's what God
is doing through you.
And that makes all thedifference.
(02:12):
In verse 9, it says, as theywere on their way.
This would be the men thatCornelius had sent to go and
define Peter.
As they were on their way.
Today you might be praying andbelieving God for something
good.
(02:33):
I want to tell you, it's on theway.
If God put it in your heart andyou feel it's the will of God,
and you don't yet have it, it'son the way.
Doesn't mean that God has notanswered the prayer.
It's on the way.
Hang on to that promise and letnothing take that away from you.
(02:58):
When you release faith, immediately you know it's on the
way.
Positions us in such a way thatwe will be able to position
others.
And that's what I do.
I have been positioned by God toinfluence certain people in my
(03:19):
lifetime.
And you have people that youwill influence in your lifetime.
Whatever level it is, don't everthink that they're doing more
than me.
No.
If you're doing what God wantsyou to do, you're doing
everything that's pleasing toGod.
They were on their way.
(03:42):
God has an answer on the way toyou, and you may not know what
it's going to be.
It could be that maybe you'renot a believer, but already God
is positioning everything tobring you into the kingdom.
This is amazing.
Peter thinks I should go andpray or whatever, and he goes up
on the housetop.
(04:05):
And he's sitting there and hestarts to get hungry.
He wants to get his meal ready.
And then he goes into the tranceand he sees this blanket come
down with all these creatures.
God had a purpose for Simon tobe at that house that day.
(04:28):
Cornelius was going to be aninstrument that God was going to
use to bring the Holy Spirit tothe Gentiles.
You don't know what yourpositioned to do.
That's why the enemy will fightyou as hard as he does.
That's why the enemy comesagainst you.
And you're thinking, I believein God.
Why is there everything againstme?
Here's a little something thatmight encourage you.
(04:51):
I have found whenever I begin totake a step of faith, or even to
get my mind upon it, even tostart meditating upon it,
praying about it, bringing itbefore the Lord, and just
preparing myself.
The enemy will come insometimes, and you're thinking,
why is everything going wrong?
It seems like nothing is workingout.
It shouldn't be this way.
(05:13):
Remember, God has prepared youfor greatness.
And God has prepared you thatyou are going to be the vessel
that He is going to use, andyou're going to be blessed, and
you're going to be a blessing.
There is a purpose.
And the word purpose means asetting forth.
(05:34):
God is setting it into place.
This is what I've purposed foryou.
And I'm going to give youpassages of scripture right now
for you to consider.
Verses that's in the Bible.
The first verse that I want youto look at is in 2 Timothy 1 and
9, saved and called according tohis purpose.
(05:58):
When you get saved, God has acalling.
And we all have differentcallings.
The second verse that I want youto consider about purpose, and I
believe that these are relevantpassages regarding purpose.
And sometimes you need to knowthese things to keep you
(06:21):
encouraged along the way.
I have found that when I evenstart moving ahead and what God
wants me to do, God has thingsin place that keep me
encouraged.
I've been preaching the gospel63 years.
And I'm thinking all those timesand all those various levels of
(06:42):
the ways and the ministries thatI have to do, God has always
encouraged me.
And do you know what encouragedme the most?
It's when I hear the word of theLord.
And if I'm reading and I find averse in the Bible, and it will
just encourage me so much.
(07:02):
And it just stands right over atme.
And that's like the Lord'ssaying, Dawn, that's for you.
I want to speak to you rightnow.
Don't get discouraged.
That's for you.
Getting saved is not just a bigone-time event and it's all over
in five minutes.
Whatever.
Oh my.
It's bringing you into awonderful kingdom where all
(07:26):
kinds of things are going to behappening.
Romans 8.28 and talks aboutthose who are called according
to his purpose.
unknown (07:34):
No.
SPEAKER_00 (07:35):
We don't just get
brought into the kingdom and
then go our little merry way andsay, I don't want to do that.
Yeah, I'll do that.
And oh, this is okay.
This would be more popular.
No, it doesn't work that way.
You might know people that actthat way.
Well, I know how I'm to act.
And therefore I share this withyou.
(07:56):
You act according to the purposeof God.
I want you to think about thefirst found in Acts 26, 16, and
it says, For this purpose I haveappeared unto you.
And God said, I'm showing youthis because this is my purpose
(08:17):
for you.
What goes through our mind rightaway?
Is it scriptural or what's myfamily going to think?
What are my friends going tosay?
What's going to be, etc.?
If you're that kind of a person, you're going to struggle all of
your Christian life.
If you're that kind of a person, you're going to fight
unnecessary battles.
(08:39):
I have found the best thing todo is make sure that you are
following what the Lord wantsyou to do.
Anybody that comes against youwhen you start moving in God and
obeying the Lord, and if theycome against you for that, I'm
going to tell you right now, they're not on the Lord's side.
In 1 John 3:8, the Son of Godappeared for this purpose.
(09:06):
This is why Jesus came todestroy the works of the devil.
All the ministry that we have,we destroy the works of the
devil.
The moment we come into thekingdom of God, the moment that
Jesus saves us right away, we'regoing to follow on to know the
(09:27):
Lord.
And the outcome is that we'regoing to destroy the works of
the devil, first of all, in us.
Because when you spend yearswalking in the devil's territory
as someone who's been pleasingthe flesh, there is a lot of
mayhem, there's a lot of chaosin your life.
(09:49):
And the devil has been using itbecause remember, the devil
wants to kill and to destroyyou.
Remember that.
That's what he wants to do.
And Jesus said, I've come that Imay give you life and more
abundantly.
There's the difference.
(10:10):
Peter falls into somethingcalled a trance.
If you look up at the definitionof a trance, it's a
displacement, a rearrangement ofthe mind.
It's a shift.
Like right now, our mind isfunctioning this way, and
everything is just clickingright into place, and suddenly
(10:33):
there's a shift.
It's a displacement of our masswhere we are right now,
everything we got all together.
It's a displacement of anothermass that moves us from the mass
that surrounds us.
It's much like taking over andspeaking above what one is
(10:56):
thinking.
And all of a sudden, thisthought comes and just begins to
overtake you.
And when you're in a trance, theLord can speak to you.
We're talking about spiritualand we're talking about
physical.
You and I, human beings, arephysical.
And when God comes upon us,whether it's conviction that we
(11:17):
need to be born again, orwhether it's the Holy Spirit
that's been poured out upon us,and then we start to move in the
gifts, and the list goes on andon.
It is the Lord taking over andcontrolling us.
Peter couldn't move.
You've seen it.
Some of you have seen this.
Maybe it's happened to you.
And maybe for a minute, twominutes, three minutes, five
(11:40):
minutes, an hour.
You're just there.
I myself think that trancesoften happen early in the
morning.
When we first wake up, you don'tknow whether you're dreaming or
you don't know whether you'reawake.
I find that quite often when youhave your mind stayed upon the
(12:00):
Lord and you're a believer, quite often trances will happen
then.
It could be that when you'repraying and maybe you're alone
and suddenly you go intosomething and you begin to see,
visions start to appear, and Godstarts showing you things.
Now, before you think I'mgetting too spooky, you're not
always going to see intoheavens.
You're not always going to seeangels.
(12:23):
It could be that God may showyou something that's going to
happen today to you.
Maybe you're going to meet acertain person.
Face may come before you.
And the Lord says, when you meetthat person, I want you to tell
them this.
And it goes and it passes.
And then you're going about yourday, and lo and behold, you meet
that person.
What you should be doing isgiving them the word of the
(12:45):
Lord.
Let them have a spiritualencounter.
Every day with a spirit-filledChristian is a wonderful
experience of life.
It's not just one hour on Sundaymorning, maybe a midweek
meeting.
No, every day.
God's got plans and purpose forus.
God doesn't want you to waste aday of your life.
(13:07):
God doesn't want you to missopportunities.
When you're in church and you'rewith the body, what a wonderful
opportunity to encourage and tostrengthen one another.
God moved upon them there.
I want us to go over to Acts 10,17.
Now, while Peter was greatlyperplexed in mind as to what the
(13:28):
vision which he had seen mightbe.
This is a strange vision.
Now look what God did withPeter.
Remember, Peter was a Jew, hewas against eating bacon, and
certainly Fried Iguana wouldnever have been on his plate.
(13:48):
Okay?
Then, lo and behold, the menthat God sends to Peter, they're
not Jews, they're Gentiles.
Peter was greatly perplexed.
Perplexed means to bethoroughly, entirely at loss at
what's being said, done, orwhat's going on.
(14:14):
Sometimes in life we're doingthings or stuff happens to us,
and we don't understand why thathappens, and we're perplexed by
it.
But I believe that when youspeak and you know you're moving
in God and you're moving byfaith, even though you might not
understand it, we're going tomove with this.
(14:36):
So he's reflecting on the visionin verse 19, focusing on what's
going on, and God begins tospeak to him.
Whenever God comes and sayssomething to you, whether it's a
dream, whether it's a prophecy, whether something in the Bible
you've read and it just comesright out at you, and you know
(14:59):
it's God.
You know that God is sayingsomething to you.
Okay?
You know it.
My recommendation is that youstay centered on that, and God's
going to reveal it to you.
Because God speaks and reveals.
There's a scripture inDeuteronomy, and it has
encouraged me every time that Ihave to move forward in God.
(15:27):
Because somebody said, they hada quote, they said, New levels,
new devils.
God raises you up, and nowyou're having to deal with
something you never dealt withbefore.
But there's a passage inDeuteronomy 29, 29.
The things which are revealedbelong to us.
(15:50):
That is a powerfulfaith-possessing statement.
It's a word.
God reveals it to us.
We're meant to understand it.
We're meant to deal with that, walk it out.
And don't expect that when youget there, sometimes if somebody
else is going to understand, Godwill surround you with people
(16:13):
that are necessary to make itwork.
In Acts 2.17, it says, Youryoung men shall see visions.
Believers are going to seevisions.
Vision is the act of seeing intoanother dimension.
When you're filled with the HolyGhost, you'll get visions, and
(16:35):
God will speak to you throughvisions.
And what you'll do throughvisions is there will find that
there will be time shifting invisions.
With God, there is no time.
Time is for us, but in God thereis no time.
So in visions, it could be past, could be present, it could be
(16:59):
future.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.
In the gifts of the Spirit, three gifts that will help you
in ministering to people, andpreachers especially should know
about these.
(17:37):
So that's why I say timeshifting.
It's in the spirit.
Like right now, we're focused onjust the moment we are.
But when we move by faith, wegot to move beyond the moment.
We got to see ourselves walkingand being.
It's just like somebody comesand says, I'm a cripple and I
need to be walking, and I don'tbelieve God wants me this way.
(17:58):
I will say to them, can you seeyourself walking?
And if they can see themselveswalking, can you see yourself
carrying the word of the Lordwhen you're called of God?
Can you see God using you to dothese things?
Verse 20 of Acts chapter 10.
But get up, go downstairs andaccompany them without
(18:22):
misgivings, for I have sent themmyself.
What a verse I'm reading to youout of Acts chapter 10.
Look at this verse.
But get up and go downstairs andaccompany them without
misgivings, for I have sent themmyself.
(18:42):
Oh powerful.
Three steps to obey the HolySpirit are right here.
Number one, get up.
Get above the mentality that Godcouldn't use you.
Get up above the situationthat's weighing you down, the
(19:05):
problems and all the things oflife.
Get above that.
When I first started flying injets, not piloting them.
That would have been my secondchoice if I wasn't a preacher.
But I remember the first timethat I took off, it was raining
somewhere where they get lots ofrain, and cloudy everywhere.
(19:29):
And that jet takes off, andyou're climbing two minutes,
three minutes.
I've seen us climb severalminutes.
I've seen us go several thousandfeet, and all we see is cloud,
and all of a sudden, thesunshine.
(20:10):
Go forward.
Go! Open your mouth.
Open the door.
Go Lord, when do you want me todo it?
Go Lord, someday.
Oh, when I return.
Because the same opportunity isnot going to be here for you
(20:32):
next week.
That's here for you today.
Go.
If God's giving you the word,go.
You make a way where there's noway.
That's what God does.
And that's what faith is like.
Peter had another plan for beingin Joppa.
And the third thing is thisaccompany without misgiving.
(21:00):
And I look at that as doing whatthe Holy Spirit wants you to do.
The Holy Spirit's going to bethere with you.
You're not going to be alone.
And I like how the Holy Spiritsays this.
But get up, go downstairs andaccompany them without
(21:25):
misgivings.
For I have sent them myself.
This doesn't fall into thepattern.
How do I know this is God?
This might be the devil.
Well, God wouldn't ask me to dothat because we get all our
(21:46):
excuses.
You will find not once, nottwice, every time in your
Christian life, this will work.
And that word misgivings meanswithout passing judgment.
We like to judge everything.
You go in your spirit.
You will feel right in yourspirit.
(22:06):
When you're filled with God,don't have a whole bunch of
items you got to check offbefore you do it.
You should have done all of thata long time ago.
It's going to come to you, andyou're going to be right there
at the moment.
Stop judging.
Don't say, I'm not worthy to dothis.
It says here, God says, I'vesent them.
You go with them.
(22:28):
Romans 8 4.
We don't walk according to theflesh, but according to the
Spirit.
Galatians 5 25, if we live bythe Spirit, let us also walk by
the Spirit.
God bless you.
