William Carroll (00:02):
Well, welcome.
This is Faith Walker Podcastwith William Carol, and I'm your
host.
And on this podcast, we talkabout how how I've learned the
word of God, how God has taughtme.
And through walking out theword of God, he's taught me that
he's still alive.
He's still the same god.
The same god that was a pillarby fire in Egypt, in the in the
(00:23):
cloud by day.
As the children of of Israelwalked through the desert, and
and he guided and and let them.
You know, he can guide us andlead us today.
If we follow him, we learn hisword, we stand on his word, and
we take him out of the box.
You gotta take God out of thebox.
Religion puts God in the box.
Relationship gets him outbecause God wants to live.
(00:46):
Jesus wants to live in ourlives as we go and minister and
share with others.
Now today, I have a specialguest again.
Steven, my friend.
You gotta listen to the lasttwo podcasts.
The last three podcasts.
About about where I was talkingabout, how God laid on my heart
to go and pray for him, whathis side, what he saw, what keep
(01:07):
felt.
In the day, right now, we wannatalk we got to visiting, and we
wanna talk about the chair.
It's a light motorcycle member.
Ministry, which we're both apart of.
And how that came about, andand some of the things that has
happened in there.
So we're gonna start off rightquick and we're gonna go back
and and and touch on Steven, when I met him, we were going to
(01:32):
a a church called the wreck.
It was four o'clock on Sunday.
You know, it wasn't your normalchurch.
You know, there was people thathad tattoos, had earrings, had
had facerings, you know.
And men, they were a bledpeople, though.
I mean, these people werehungry for God, but they didn't
feel like a normal traditionalchurch would receive them.
And a lot of the churcheswouldn't.
(01:53):
And it was just a place wherewe could come and we could
worship God and we just man, andwe just enjoyed it.
Me and my wife enjoyed it somuch.
My kids enjoyed it so much.
And we met Stephen there.
And I had known Stephenprobably for about two years at
that time from going to thechurch.
And during that time, Iprobably heard they even only
(02:16):
speak, you know, two or threewords at a time.
You know, I I I mean, he didn'ttalk much.
You know?
He talks a little bit more now, but, you know, that's the power
of God in his life.
But but Steven, I'm gonna justturn it over to him, Dennis Well
, hey.
His friend.
And both of these guys joinedthe chariot tonight.
(02:37):
In in in my area.
And but before that, when Ifirst heard Stephen talk and man
, he knocked me on the ground.
But let him tell the stories.
Do Steven tell us
Stephen Mccauley (02:49):
the story?
William Carroll (02:51):
The testimony.
It's not a story folks.
It's the truth.
Stephen Mccauley (02:54):
.
My friend, Dennis, he had aheart attack and they had a
finger through it.
And he coded five times betweenthe jalapeno tree and the
hospital.
And the hospital's only aboutsix eight blocks Yep.
From the jalapeno tree.
(03:15):
And he had counted five timesin between the two places.
And they airlifting him to toLongview, to to the hospital.
Anyway than that.
When we got there, they theybroke and put him in a coma.
(03:35):
And he'd been in a coma forseveral weeks, and I had I had
stood in for him one night at atat the wreck, and and we had
prayed over him.
And gotta wait until he went by, and he was still in a coma.
(04:01):
And I'd stood in for him againthis one particular night.
This is the second time I'dstood in for him, and I had
prayed over him.
And I when we got done.
And I I always left my phoneand my truck near the church.
I went out to check my phone.
(04:21):
And when I got out to the phonerang, and I answered it, and it
was Dennis' wife.
And she was calling to let meknow that he had woke up.
And that the only thing thatwas wrong was he was he had lost
a little of short term.
Mhmm.
And because they were saying, while he was frozen and
(04:45):
everything, that if you woke up,then he would have to learn how
to read and write and walk andtalk all over again.
Because of the number of timesthat he had killed.
And but she was telling me thatwhen you woke up, that
(05:08):
everything was fine.
And the only thing that he wasthat he had lost was his short
term memory.
So I got off the phone, and Iwent back in the church and and
I just let everybody know that, hey, Dennis woke up and
everything's great, you know, and and we rejoiced and
celebrated.
Yeah.
You know, it it was a greattime, you know, at that
William Carroll (05:31):
And I wanna I I
wanna share the scripture.
He said that, you know, he wasstanding up or standing in the
gap for Dennis.
And so I wanted to share ascripture where we get that from
.
And I remember the night thatthat a couple of weeks before
when, you know, Dennis washaving pro problem in Dennis,
and I I especially remember thislast night.
(05:53):
Now, Ezekiel twenty two thirty,Insecule twenty two thirty, it
says, and I sought for a manamong him that should make up
the hedge and stand in the goutfor me for the land that I
should not destroy it, but Ifound none.
Now listen.
Well, this is where we get ourstanding in the gout, making up
the hedge.
(06:13):
Yes.
It was talking about a specificevent here.
But in, you know, the word ofGod is not black and white.
It's alive, man.
It's powerful.
And so Stephen, you know, heasked.
He said, can I stand in?
So the the first time that hecame up and stand in, we
gathered around as a church bodywe laid hands on Steven just
(06:34):
like it was Dennis because hewas representing what Dennis
needed in his life.
Right?
And so so we prayed.
And then that night, listen, this guy I'm telling you, I
hadn't heard him hardly say anywords.
Even when he said, hey, I wannastanding the gap for my friend,
Dennis, the night that we'retalking about that he got the
(06:55):
good report.
He that's all he said.
He says, hey.
I I I wanna stand in for friend, Dennis.
Because, you know, he's he'shad that heart attack and he's
in a coma and he he he's notdoing it.
And he didn't say that manywords.
I might say more words justthan he did.
And so what what we did was weall gathered around the whole
church gathered around.
We laid hands on him.
(07:16):
We started praying for dentists.
We started praying thatdentists would wake up
Stephen Mccauley (07:21):
Right.
William Carroll (07:21):
You know?
And I mean and we just man, wewe petitioned God.
For an answer that we had allbeen praying for, but we needed,
and we were praying andexpecting.
You see, he was doing standingin he was standing in the hedge.
He was standing in the gal.
You know, trying to keep theenemy.
There's a hedge right there.
(07:43):
He was standing in the gal.
Trying to keep the enemy fromcoming in and from stealing
Dennis' life.
I'm I'm gonna tell you that'swhat he was doing.
And that's what was happening.
So when he went outside and hegot his phone, we were still all
at church.
He would because, you you know, the the we just We loved and
nobody wanted to leave.
Nobody wanted to go home.
(08:04):
We all wanted to live on eachother and visit with each other.
And so we was we were still allthere visiting and talking and
and and income statement.
And I mean, he had a smile onhis face, you know, and he was
lit up, and he come in, and hesaid, hey, hey, I need to tell
y'all.
So the pastor pastor Paul, hesaid, come on.
(08:26):
He said, come on.
And Steven started getting upthere.
Everybody gathered around, youknow, nobody wanna leave.
They wanted to hear whathappened.
And this guy, man, he's he'slit up, and he's just he's
praising God.
He's thanking God and he'stelling us that that he just got
the text from Dennis' wife thatDennis had woken up out of the
(08:49):
coma and that he was good, except for a little bit of
memory loss.
And he said, I just wanna thankGod.
I I remember his testimony.
He said, I wanna thank God.
For hearing our prayers andhealing my friend.
And I that's more words I everheard him say.
In two years now, guys.
And I I'm saying, Wow, man.
(09:11):
You know, he does talk.
But you know what?
It took God doing something big
Stephen Mccauley (09:16):
Yeah.
William Carroll (09:16):
For him to have
something to say.
But, you know, because he's aman a few words.
He talks more now, but but notmuch.
But so so So we're gonna giveGod the praise for that.
Stephen Mccauley (09:29):
Thank you.
William Carroll (09:29):
But what I want
what we wanted to talk about,
we talked about the cherryinside.
See, I was starting a a grouphere in Carthage, Texas.
I I ride with I used to ride, and I still do with the
Shreveport guys.
But I wanted to start one here, and I had to have, like, I
don't know, four or six membersto start cherry the light.
Cherry the light is amotorcycle ministry.
(09:51):
We go to rallies and and we doother stuff locally too.
We used to do a lot locally.
And we go out and we share thehand of God.
So I told Steven, I said, youknow, and Dennis about the
chariots alike, they had amotorcycle.
We rode the Tallaming trailwith them.
And when we got through andthey kinda got to know me and
Jamie a little better.
(10:11):
They said, we wanna join.
And I said, alright.
Let's join.
So, you know, we gave themtheir their colors, you know.
I call it a manhole.
It's and doctor Jerry Savelleis is the founder of the chariot
slide.
Bill Horn is our NationalInternational Director.
And so so they began ridingwith us and administering with
(10:33):
us.
Now the cherry is like, we usewhat it what what God gave Well,
God gave Bill is the hand toGod at Sturgess one year.
At Sturgess, he gave him thehand to God in in this hand if
you put this hand out.
And they take it, then it's notyour hand, but it's the hand of
God.
And God's got them by the hand.
And you start sharing with them, and we share we share you know
(10:56):
, we'll we'll we'll introduceourselves.
We'll ask them where they'refrom.
We wanna know about them.
You know, we wanna encouragethem.
And then we'll say we'll saywe'll look.
We're here.
Just just we don't wanna takemuch of your time, but we wanna
ask you a a few questions.
Is that okay?
And if they say no, okay.
But they'll most of them say, yeah.
And they'll say, yeah.
(11:16):
And we'll say, well, ifsomething happens to you now,
twenty years from now, whatever, hope it don't.
But if it does, where would youspend eternity?
You know?
And they'll they'll tell youwhat they think, you know, and
they'll tell you you know, I cansay some stories that Right.
About some of them, you know, telling me some stuff.
(11:38):
But that's not what we'retalking about right now.
But, Steven, you know and andthen and then when you say, well
, on a scale from one to fivefive being the closest you can
be, where where are you honestly?
I always say honestly.
You know?
I don't matter to me.
God knows.
And they'll say, two, maybe one, maybe three.
(12:00):
And then we say, have you everaccepted Jesus as Lord and
Savior?
You know, a lot of them say, no.
A lot of them say, yeah.
But I hadn't been following him.
And then we lead them in a aprayer of recommitment or prayer
salvation, you know.
And we lead them in that prayer.
We say, pray after me.
And then we pray for a closerwalk with Christ.
Right?
Stephen Mccauley (12:18):
I understand.
William Carroll (12:18):
Well, see and I
taught this.
I taught this all the day I'mjust teething into dentists into
the guys at Shreveport evermeet and I talked about the hand
of God, the hand of God, thehand of God.
And Fayetteville came up and afavorite movie.
And they said, William, wereyou going?
I said, I don't have no daysoff.
I can't go.
You know?
I don't and so they said, well,we're going.
(12:40):
So I'm sitting there and I'mI'm at work and I get a call
that morning from from fromSteven.
And Steven's saying, William, Isaid,
Speaker 3 (12:50):
what y'all doing?
They said, we're going out onthe streets.
We're gonna go wins themselvesfor God.
We we're gonna use the hand ofGod.
Bill taught us the hand of God.
Man Yeah.
William Carroll (12:59):
And and I'm
like, Steven, I've talked about
that every meeting.
You know?
And he said, yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
But be able to tell
us the hand of God.
William Carroll (13:07):
You know?
Is like things that
Stephen Mccauley (13:09):
don't
understand that you had been
teaching that the whole time.
Uh-huh.
You know?
And and Bill had given us thepamphlet.
William Carroll (13:19):
Yes.
Yes.
The book.
He's got a little book on it.
Stephen Mccauley (13:21):
And and and
that's what triggered it.
You know, that that helpedtrigger.
William Carroll (13:26):
Well, he was I
was talking to him earlier
before the podcast, and I said,I said, do you know what
happened?
I said, I was so in seed intoyour heart about the hand of God
.
The hand of God.
The hand of God.
I said, but you didn't get ituntil and and I was watering it,
and then Bill come along.
And when Bill spoke it, then itproduced fruit.
All of a sudden because you wasgoing out to witness that day.
(13:47):
And they were saying, I mean, and then the phone rang.
And I said, Steven, I gotta go.
And it was Dennis, you know?
And so I I I said, yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
And he said, man,
we're up here.
Pay it bill.
Really?
You're our leader.
You need to be here.
We're going out to win somezoos.
We learned the hand that got Isaid
William Carroll (14:05):
I said, really,
you know, and they
Speaker 3 (14:07):
go, you're our leader
.
You need to be here.
That's I don't want him anydays off.
William Carroll (14:10):
So I said I
said in another chariot from
Shreveport, we'll he he he he'she's seventy two years young at
that time.
And he said, man, I'll go.
But William, are you going?
I need somebody to go with mywife won't let me go up.
And I kept telling me I don'thave no time.
And I said I said, okay.
I and they don't know me.
I said I said, these two alwaysride together and they were
went in a truck this time.
(14:32):
I said, I said, hey, Dennis.
I said, are you on an truck?
Yeah.
Are you a Steven?
Yeah.
So they were both gone.
The same time to talk to mebecause they was excited about
going and winning souls for God.
And listen, you can win peopleto the Lord easy we came to
Steven.
Stephen Mccauley (14:52):
You can.
And the thing about that is isI'm quiet.
William Carroll (14:57):
He's sick.
He's he's quiet.
Stephen Mccauley (15:01):
I wasn't sure
about going out and winning
souls and and speaking to thepublic Mhmm.
You know, prior to that.
And man, I was jacked that day.
I I was high on God that day,and and I went out at at once
William Carroll (15:21):
and stuff.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Out of your comfort
zone.
Stephen Mccauley (15:23):
Yes.
Right.
And and that's when That's whenI got my voice for God Right.
On on that day.
And and
William Carroll (15:32):
Before that,
didn't you say did you say in
your heart before that or evento people that's just not me.
That's just not what I do.
God just don't use me like that.
Right?
Stephen Mccauley (15:41):
Right.
That's right.
William Carroll (15:42):
And that's
because you'd never stepped out
and
Speaker 3 (15:44):
done that.
Stephen Mccauley (15:45):
That's right.
I I I was I was afraid to.
But
William Carroll (15:49):
Of somebody
saying, no, I don't wanna hear
it or What was your greatestfear?
Rejection.
That yeah.
My wife's rejection.
Stephen Mccauley (15:58):
From, you know
, I didn't want people to reject
God.
Right.
Is what
William Carroll (16:03):
I was
Stephen Mccauley (16:03):
afraid of.
Yeah.
You know?
And and I didn't want people toto say, no, I don't wanna hear
that.
Yeah.
You know, that's that was mygreatest fear.
You know?
But once I got got past it, itwas a whole different story.
William Carroll (16:20):
He he's up
there at Denny's show.
He used to go every morning forbreakfast.
Right?
And he was up there at Denny'sin he he text me, you know, he
said, hey, I just shared.
I just led somebody of the Lord.
You know, I just prayed forsomebody's healing.
I just prayed for somebody'sfamily.
You know?
And I mean I mean but see, itwas it was the spirit of God,
you know, when he yielded
Stephen Mccauley (16:40):
the greatest
one of the greatest Mhmm.
Prayers I ever lived was I'm adisabled man.
William Carroll (16:53):
That's right.
That's right.
Stephen Mccauley (16:54):
And I did time
in in visit storming Yes.
In in during freight.
So when I went to Daytona, Iwas able to pray over a must.
William Carroll (17:07):
Yeah.
Stephen Mccauley (17:08):
And that was
one of the greatest prayers that
I ever ever let it cost.
He will stop me tooth and nail.
You know, own being a Christian.
William Carroll (17:26):
Right.
Stephen Mccauley (17:27):
And when he
let me pray over it, I knew I
had it.
I knew I had it at that pointbecause a die hard muslim is not
gonna let you pray over.
No.
You know, but but this guybroke down and let me pray over.
William Carroll (17:43):
Mhmm.
Stephen Mccauley (17:43):
And and I
thought that's when I have
seated this I have sold the seedYeah.
Of God in his heart.
So that that was one of my Ifeel like one of my great
accomplishments Mhmm.
For the lord.
William Carroll (18:00):
For the lord.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And see, that's what God wants.
God wants us to talk people.
Now, as we talk about, we go tothe events, you know, the
sturges rally and stuff likethat.
But it's not about the events.
You know, we did a rally inLongview, Texas two years.
They had that rally.
And Steven and Dennis would Ithey said, we need somebody to
(18:22):
to give cook, you know, to togive give out coffee and drinks
and and food that these vendorsMcDonald's and all was
furnishing.
For the band and for the thesingers there.
And I said, I got two men.
I called them, and they said, yeah.
They got there before they everstarted, and
Speaker 3 (18:39):
they Well, how many
hours did y'all stay?
Stephen Mccauley (18:42):
All day.
In in
William Carroll (18:43):
And on day two,
Stephen Mccauley (18:44):
didn't you?
All night.
Yeah.
We we stayed for that.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Till they left?
Stephen Mccauley (18:47):
Yep.
Till they closed down.
William Carroll (18:49):
And and they
were back there.
And I'd say, do you needsomebody to relieve you?
And they say, oh, we got this.
And Marshall Tucker brand tookSteven and found out he was a
veteran and put him up.
You tell him.
Yeah.
They You tell
Stephen Mccauley (19:03):
him on stage
and and and took me back stage
and they put me up and theytalked I don't know how long we
talked for probably ten orfifteen minutes about about God
and and and about how he movedus and and and where he put us
and it was it was great.
William Carroll (19:24):
Yeah.
Stephen Mccauley (19:25):
It it it was
just I never thought I'd be able
to to go backstage and be onstage with my touvery,
William Carroll (19:36):
dad, or any
anybody.
Stephen Mccauley (19:38):
Any anybody?
Any celebrity?
Mhmm.
And and and talk with
William Carroll (19:42):
And they gave
you shirts, didn't they?
Stephen Mccauley (19:44):
And and They
gave the church, and they they
let us stay on stage while theyperform.
I I mean, it it was
William Carroll (19:51):
No.
You know, that was the grace ofGod on your lap.
And grace means favor y'all.
That was the favor of God.
But listen, the next year whenit come around or that might
have been the second year overthe next year, after the first
year, they were there.
The the event coordinator cameto me and contacted me again and
said, y'all gonna we hadanother booth out side with the
(20:11):
public that that me and my wifeand some of the other ones, you
know, was at and shared Jesuswith everybody.
And let me tell you, they said, hey, do you got those same two
guys?
Can you send them?
Will they come?
Because everybody bragged onthem.
You know?
And they because they theydidn't there was something
(20:33):
different about them.
The bands and those the therotis and all.
I mean, they were talking tothem.
Stephen and Dennis was sharingwith him, giving him coffee.
I mean, they kept the coffeepot going and the coffee pot hot
.
And and everybody could tellthere was something different
about these two guys.
You know?
(20:53):
And that difference was, god,in their life.
Yeah.
Friday?
Stephen Mccauley (20:57):
Yep.
Because we shared God with himthe the whole day.
William Carroll (21:01):
Yeah.
Stephen Mccauley (21:01):
And and the
second year was the year of
Georgia Satellite.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Stephen Mccauley (21:05):
Was was there.
The first year was MarshallTucker
William Carroll (21:08):
Right.
Stephen Mccauley (21:08):
And and the
second year was Georgia
Satellite and shooter Jenningsand
William Carroll (21:13):
Yeah.
Stephen Mccauley (21:15):
I can't
remember who else there.
William Carroll (21:17):
It's a shame.
It you know, the first yearthey had that thing, there was
over seven thousand people there.
In the second year, I'm not forsure what the number was.
In the the Longview newspaper, one of the guys is an editor
there.
Is the one that that that thatdid it, you know.
And I don't know all of asudden, it was downtown Longview
, Texas, right, by the thenewspaper.
(21:39):
And and they just shut it down.
You know, the newspaper justkinda said, you know, know how
these newspapers are.
They all wanna go woke and goliberal.
And they said, well, we justdon't want these kinds of people
here.
But it it was raised money forprojects.
You know, these rallies, peoplethat go to these rallies, they
(22:00):
they spend money for theseprojects, different projects
that are are for the community.
And and I I'm telling you itwas so fun and it was so fun.
I'd come over and peek at themand they just be sharing God
with everybody back there and itwas such a blessing, you know.
And, listen, I I've really hadfun, Steven.
And, you know, I I need to getyou back sometime and we'll talk
(22:24):
again about some of the otherthings we've done with the
cherry.
It's a light and some of thesome of the things that happened
, you know, and we you know what?
We might I may even come backand let you talk if you want to.
You can share with us about andduring freedom.
And and your part in that andand, you know, kinda
enlightening people on thatbecause a lot of people don't
(22:45):
remember that.
And that's when we that's whenwe went into co Kuwait.
It's when we our military wentinto Kuwait the first time.
It was before Desert Storm.
Nope.
Oh.
Stephen Mccauley (22:56):
Desert Storm
was first.
William Carroll (22:58):
Okay.
Desert Storm was first.
Stephen Mccauley (22:59):
And then
during freedom was when we went
in and finished the job.
William Carroll (23:03):
Okay.
Okay.
See there, I gotta be correctedsometimes.
But and but listen, man, I Itell you what, I love this guy.
I love this guy in in to seethe change in him, you know,
especially when he startedstepping out for God.
And he just he has a heart forpeople just like God does.
He has compassion.
(23:23):
And I love him so much, and youheard his other testimony about
how God touch his wife and healhis wife, you know, and listen.
If you don't know Jesus Christ,I gotta ask you this.
Because
Stephen Mccauley (23:36):
I get to know
him.
William Carroll (23:37):
You gotta get
to know him.
Got you.
God said to me, I told I said,God, if you ever let me draw a
line in the sand, I'm gonna askpeople to cross to so many
people get people up to thatline, and they don't give an off
.
His churches are really badabout not giving an off to Colin
anymore.
They wanna say, well, it's notin the Bible.
We'll go read Romans ten.
