Speaker 1 (00:05):
Breaking the chain, feeling the gain.
Now I'm rising.
Open the gate, never too late.
No hiding Wings open wide, trusting my God, ready to take
off, ready to take off Someday.

(00:26):
I know I'm moving in the rightway.
Oh, one day I keep praying.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
I keep praying.
Hey y'all, welcome to anotherepisode of Faithful Fin Talk.
I'm your host, wontrelleLeVette, and if you are new here
, I'd like to welcome you to thebest podcast that you're ever
going to come across.
If you're not new here, I'dlike to welcome you to the best
podcast that you're ever goingto come across.
And, not to mention, if you'renot new here, don't start

(01:00):
judging Like.
Take a listen to other episodesand that way you can get a feel
and see what Faithful Fan Talkis all about.
I'm Wontra LeVette, your hostand I combine faith and finance
and testimony together in thispodcast.
Not sure if you're in aposition like me, but we are on
episode 54.
So I've been doing this forsome time.

(01:22):
We did a relaunch on episode 50.
So if you want to take it toepisode 50 and check out the
relaunch, the resurrection ofthe podcast, then please be my
guest.
I think you will find it veryheartfelt to know that I have
resurrected this podcast afterstarting it two, two and a half
years ago or three years ago orsomething like that, but just so

(01:45):
much so that I can talk aboutwhat God does in my life and
also show you guys the growththat I've been going through and
to since, walking with Christand just letting God use me.
This has been one journey.
So the title of our episodetoday is Divine Power, real

(02:07):
Promises.
The scripture focus that I'mfocused on in today's episode is
2 Peter 1.
2 Peter has three chapters, very short book, doesn't take
long for anybody to go and read.
But when I was doing myresearch and trying to find
understanding of second Peterbecause the last episode was

(02:28):
first Peter one and first Peterone has five chapters, very
short book as well Um, theseboth Peters are letters and
they're both authors, and so theauthor of second Peter, um,
basically, was kind of like onhis dying bed, but kind of was
not, but he was kind of in hislast days, but he was just being

(02:50):
real, more strict about how hewas saying and letting us know
what we already have, which isdivine power and real promises.
So the scripture is SecondPeter one, you don't have to go
to 3 or anything else.
The tagline for us, of course,is real stories, real scripture
and real growth, because that'sexactly what this is.

(03:13):
As I'm stepping deeper back intothis comeback, not only do I
welcome you into my space, Iwelcome you into my testimony, I
welcome you back into my life.
I'm showing you guys that Godis real.
Okay, I know sometimes we wantto be wondering where you at,
but God is definitely real and Idon't go a day without letting

(03:34):
him show up for me or me tryingto show up for him or her.
However, you try to identifyyour guy because sometimes you
know he's sexist he can beeither or so I like to just let
God take over and take overtoday.
So that's what I'm asking, evenfor this episode Like, because
when I did my research I'm likeOK, god, what are you talking to

(03:56):
me about?
I know I have real divine powerand I have real promises, but
what are they?
What do they look like?
What do they look like?
So, the last episode, we walkedthrough the fire, we went
through grace and then, ofcourse, in the beginning, we
resurrect the episode and nowGod is calling us to grow,
because, second Peter one, it'snot just the chapter, it's a

(04:19):
charge, it's a call to maturity,a call to multiply, a call to
become, and that's where I'm at,in my stages right now.
I'm in my becoming stages and Ifeel like this word today is
for somebody who's been feelinglike they're stuck between saved
and still struggling.
Baby, don't worry, you're inthe right place.

(04:42):
You're in the middle of thestretch and the stretch is also
holy.
Okay, you don't have to worryabout it, I'm stretching with
you.
I know what it feels like.
I'm in that same stretch.
So in second Peter one, versethree and four in the new living
translation, it says by hisdivine power, god has given us

(05:06):
everything we need for a living,a godly life.
We have received all of this bycoming to know him, the one who
called us to himself by meansof his marvelous glory and
excellence.
By means of his marvelous gloryand excellence, and because of
his glory and excellence, he hasgiven us great and precious

(05:29):
promises.
Okay, there go.
There go some promises.
He has given us great andprecious promises.
These are the promises thatenable you to share his divine
nature and escape the world'scorruption caused by human
desires.
Come on y'all.
Is we in a war, or is we not ina war right now?

(05:50):
Well, by the time this episodecome out, I'm quite sure the
world would have been passedover.
But somewhere in this world weare in the world, and human is
always causing corruptionBecause we, like, have that
desire to be naughty, to be bad.
Who doesn't like a bad boy or abad girl?
Nobody likes a little softie.

(06:10):
But you know, we have thisdivine power, these promises for
God.
We have this that we can escapethe world's corruption, we can
escape the naughtiness of theworld.
I mean, not every day do youwant to be a bad person Like,
come on right.

(06:30):
So divine power versus humanpressure, let's pause right here
, because this part changed theway that I view growth.
It doesn't say God will giveyou everything you need.
It says he has already given itto you by his divine power, not
by your hustle, not by yourperfection, not by checking

(06:54):
every spiritual box, like I saidin the last episode, but by
knowing him.
By knowing God, I mean I'mtalking waking up with God.
I don't know God like I don'tknow God, like God know me.
You know they say God know youthat he created you when you was
in your mother womb.

(07:14):
He know every hair on your body.
I don't know God like God knowme.
So my job is to get with Godevery day, not trying to hustle,
not trying to out hustle thenext, not try to do what the
next person is doing.
But my job is to get with Godevery day so I can learn about
His divine power.
Now that was big for me, thatwas super huge for me, because

(07:39):
I'm growing and I'm constantlygrowing and I want to know.
But I've got to grow with God,right.
So that was pretty cool.
But by knowing Him, that hit medeep because for years I
thought I had to earn my way andto grow.
But God says you grow by graceand not by grind.

(08:00):
We've been talking grace, grace, grace, grace, every episode,
and that's because grace is real.
The season I felt spiritualstuck was not that long ago.
There was literally seasons, not just one season.
We got four seasons in a year.
There was not just one season Ifelt spiritually stuck.
But there were seasons where Ifelt stuck.

(08:22):
I was praying, I was fasting alittle, I was learning about
fasting, because everybodyfasting is not the same,
everybody praying is not thesame.
Showing up for everybody, showing up for everybody, but I
wasn't showing up for myself.
In the inside I felt dry, likenothing was moving, and I asked

(08:43):
God.
I said why do I feel so distantwhen I'm doing everything right
?
Why do I feel like I'm notwhere I need to be, I'm not
where I'm supposed to be.
I'm not the person that you sayI am or you call me to be.
And God was like you're sofunny.
He's like you're trying to growin your own strength.

(09:07):
You're weak.
You're weak without me.
So when I already gave you theseed, you just need to stay
connected.
It wasn't about doing more, itwas about believing more.
Believing that what he plantedin me was already enough and all
I needed to do was water itwith trust.
And how can I water it withtrust if I don't get with God

(09:28):
every day?
Like, come on y'all, I'mdropping gems, I'm dropping
notes.
This is a serious thing, because sometimes we, always we
can yell out God, this God, thatJesus, this Jesus, that the
Quran, this, the Quran, thatAllah, this, allah, that.
Like, come on y'all.
If we're not getting with ourcreator every day, is we really
watering the seed that heplanted in us?

(09:50):
Is we really doing that?
I don't think so.
I'm only knowing because byexperience here I am trying to
out-hustle myself out, trying todo things, trying to make
certain type of money, trying todo all it is, and God, like I
didn't tell you to do that.
I didn't tell you to think thatfar ahead.
I didn't tell you to put thesethings into place.

(10:11):
I didn't tell you to do that.
I said get with me on a dailybasis so I can give you your
daily bread, okay.
So, second Peter, one fivethrough seven, it says in view
of all of this, make everyeffort to respond to God's
promises.
Okay, if you got your notebooks, this is a good time to take

(10:31):
notes right here, because thisverse, right here, is really
something that's so importantand I went over it time and time
again Because if God ispromising you real promises and
real divine power, you got toknow what those real promises
and divine power look like.
Right?
So it says supplement yourfaith with a generous provision
of moral excellence, and moralexcellence with knowledge, and

(10:57):
knowledge with self-control andself-control, with patience,
endurance and patient endurancewith godliness and godliness
with brotherly affection andbrotherly affection with the
love for everyone.
That's a whole growth chart.
Right there, god is saying yourfaith is in the foundation, but

(11:20):
maturity comes through layering, layering.
What did he say?
He said a lot.
Ok, it's not just what youbelieve, it's how you build.
You cannot build a house withjust the sticks and the cement.
You can't.
You're going to need more stuff.
You're going to need drywall, you're going to need concrete.

(11:40):
You're going to need bricks, you're going to need shoot all
kind of stuff.
What else you need, chris?
All kind of things.
You're going to need all kindof stuff.
What else you need, chris?
You can't just build a houseLike, don't come, bring me no
boxable house, because one thingI know for sure is if that wind
blow too hard, baby, it's gonnablow off my house, like you got

(12:01):
to have a full on foundation, like it's so serious, right?
So it's not just you know.
How you believe is how youbuild on your belief.
You know what I'm saying.
So let me speak to you.
If you are in transition, like Iam, I'm in transition.
You're no longer who you were, but you're not fully who you're
becoming.
You're learning self-control,but still slip up Sometimes.

(12:26):
You're practicing patience, butstill snap when life gets hard.
You love people, but you'retired of always being a strong
one.
Let me remind you that's me,that's you, that's all of us.
But God sees us becoming.
He still calls us chosen.
Growth doesn't always feelglamorous.
Sometimes it's silent.
It's quiet, it's in the dark.

(12:50):
Sometimes because your light istoo shiny, it shines too bright
.
Sometimes you have to do thework in the dark, but that is
still proof that God is working.
Okay.
So growing pains are real.
I was literally in a season ofgrowing, growing pains.
Trying to rush your spiritualgrowth is like microwaving a

(13:10):
gourmet meal.
It might look done, but, baby,it's cold in the middle.
If you or anybody else had amicrowavable meal and you put it
on what?
Three minutes, four minutes?
And then you go check your foodand you're like it's still cold
in the middle and that'sbecause it didn't simmer through
all the way.
A boss of mine was so funny, isthat?

(13:32):
Not too long ago, a couple or acouple years ago, a boss of mine
taught me how to warm food inthe microwave.
I gave him some food and I waslike he'll put my food on three
minutes.
He was like three minutes andI'm like, okay, for some reason
I felt like the food took longerthan three minutes and I said
why did the food take so long?
He said because I put the timesin increments.
I was like increments.

(13:53):
He was like, yeah, I did it 30seconds at a time, so your food
can be cooked all the waythrough.
I never thought of that.
I never thought, well, if Itake my time and slow process,
cook my food even in themicrowave, if I do 30 seconds at
a time, 20 seconds at a time,that when I actually reached the

(14:15):
three minute mark time or fourminute mark time, that my food
would be done in full, complete, like around in the middle and
stuff.
So I thought that was prettycool.
Okay, so God's growth plan takestime because it tastes better
when it's slow cooked and trustand it really do.
I have to get up every day andI have to trust God.
I have to get up every day andI have to trust God.

(14:37):
I have to trust God more than Itrust myself, because I don't
have it all figured out.
So I have to trust someone orsomething that has it all
figured out, that created thisentire universe.
I have to trust somethingthat's bigger than me.
Okay, so give yourself grace.
I'm giving myself grace as Imarinate in this process and I

(14:57):
want you to give yourself graceas you marinate in this process,
because faith is always betterover frustration.
This chapter reminded me thatlegacy isn't just about what you
leave behind, but it's aboutwhat you live through.
Levette legacy isn't built onmy wins.
It's built on the wisdom I'vegathered in the waiting, each

(15:18):
layer of growth, self-control,patience, godliness.
Is it just for me?
It's not just for me, it's formy kids, it's for my community,
it's for Faithful Fin Talk, it'sfor the generation that comes
after me, because we don't justpass down promises, we pass down
process.
So funny, I'm going to leaveyou guys with this story.

(15:41):
There was a package that gotdelivered to my house the other
day.
It was a big package.
I had got a notification on myphone and it say you got a
package to pick up.
I went and I pick up thatpackage and it was a big package
.
I had got a notification on myphone and it say you got a
package to pick up.
I went and I pick up thatpackage and it was a big box.
I brought that box into myhouse and I popped that box open
and when I brought that packageout of that box it was a big,
nice coach bag.

(16:01):
I mean big, it was a nice coachbag.
And you know I looked up and Isaid, oh, thank you God, because
I know I didn't order no coachbag.
And you know I looked up and Isaid, oh, thank you God, because
I know I didn't order no coachbag, but it had my unit number
on there, but it didn't have myname on it.
It didn't have my name on itand normally when a package come
it normally has the person nameand their unit number on there,

(16:21):
so you can probably take thepackage back to whatever unit it
came from.
But this package had my addressand my unit on it, but it
didn't have my name on it.
But it wasn't my package.
And I was like, ooh, thank youLord, somebody love me because I
received a nice coach bag.
Something told me not to takethe tags off of it.

(16:43):
Something told me not toundress that bag in fully.
I don't know what it was, butsomething told me not to do so.
Because the next day theneighbor wrote a note on my door
and said hey, I had a packagedelivered to your house by
accident because our numbersunits was mixed up.

(17:04):
He's like I got this package,it's for my wife and it's her
birthday.
Would you be so kindly toreturn that package?
And probably the old me, oldold me probably be like heck, no
, this package came from me.
Like what, thank you, lord.
Like you lose you snooze Likeuh-uh.

(17:26):
Brother, baby, I'm sorry, butthe God in me was so relieved
that I didn't even take the tagsoff the package.
I didn't remove the paper outof it, or nothing.
And the God in me was so happythat I could't even take the
tags off the package.
I didn't remove the paper outof it, or nothing.
And the God in me was so happythat I could return the package
to its original sender.
I wrote that man back and Isaid hey, yes, it's your

(17:47):
neighbor.
I got your package, you know.
The only thing that's damagedis the box itself, because I
thought it was mine.
But the package is fully intactand I'll leave it in the office
for you to receive and pick upyour package.
And I put in a message too.
I made sure I put as aChristian, you know, because
sometimes I was going back andforth Am I a believer, am I a

(18:10):
Christian?
Am I this and that?
And something right there toldme said no, speak loud, speak
boldly in who you are.
And I am a Christian.
I am, I believe in God, Ibelieve in Jesus Christ, I'm a
Christian, I've been baptizedtwice.
And they say they know who youare and they know who you
represent by the fruit that you, that you pass on Right.
So I put that in the text.

(18:31):
I say, yeah, as a Christian, Iam honored to give you your
package back.
And so the neighbor was like hesent the message back.
He said, oh my God, you don'tknow how appreciative I am of
this.
I am.
This has really truly blessedme, because people, normally
somebody else, wouldn't nevergave it back.
He was like I'm truly honoredthat God has touched your heart

(18:54):
to give it back and that rightthere let me know that God was
doing something in my life thattold me right there that when
the package come for me, I'm notgoing to have to give it back.
Nobody's going to come for it,it's going to have my name on it
, it's going to be addressed tome and it's going to be for me
and it's going to be from, it'sgoing to be mine, and whatever
package that be, I'm able topass that down to my kids.

(19:16):
So I end up telling my daughterthe story you know, just so she
can have that in her heart toknow like there is good people
out here in this world and Iwant to be one of those
Christians that represent whatGod is doing in my life and I
want people to see that allChristians is not, you know, out
here doing crazy stuff.
Some of us really is out heretrying to get right and be a

(19:39):
representation of what God wantus to be.
And no, I'm not perfect, Iwould never be perfect.
Come at me the wrong way.
I'm quite sure you're going toget slapped.
I'm quite sure I'm going tohandle things in a different way
, but every day I'm trying tohandle things in a more
respectful way, like what wouldJesus do?
You know what I'm saying, buthe wasn't no punk.
He wasn't no punk.
You couldn't bully him and Ifeel the same way, you know, but

(20:02):
it just goes a long way.
So I had to share that storywith you guys.
So tell me your growth layer, okay, cause I'm definitely in a
growth season.
Like I said, you come at me thewrong way.
You never know what's going tohappen.
Watch what you say to me,because trust and believe.
I'm not Jesus, I'm human.
I'm still a sinner and thingscan go left.
So let's talk about it.
Which layer from chapter two, peter, is God building in you

(20:25):
right now?
Is it patience, self-control,love?
