feeling the gain.
Now I'm rising.
Open the gate, never too late.

off, Ready to take off, Ah,someday.
I know I'm moving in the rightway.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Hey y'all, welcome
back to Faithful Fin Talk.
This is episode 51 and ourtitle for today is Unlawful
Salvation Grace Over Guilt.
We're going to focus onGalatians and it's going to be
in chapter 3.
This is real stories, realscripture and real growth.
(00:59):
So welcome back to FaithfulFintalk.
I'm your host, wontrell LeVette, and let me tell you I'm still
on fire from episode 50.
It's still burning.
But this is our second stop onthe comeback journey and today
we're diving into somethingthat's been pressing on my
spirit grace, not hustle, notrules, not shame, but grace.
(01:23):
And that's where Galatians 3coming at.
I studied, I went over it.
I was in an NIV version, theNLT version even went over to
the message version just so Ican understand and get the
history of what Galatians waseven talking about and what is
with even talking about to me.
So it's not just Paul's letterto the church, it's a divine
(01:44):
clap back to legalism, guilt andthe mindset that says I have to
be perfect to be saved.
How many people you know goaround acting as if they're
perfect and saved by God or theyhave to do something or have to
be a certain type of way justto get God's grace they have to
show up at church every day, they have to be a certain type
(02:05):
of way, they have to dress acertain way.
They can't have this, theycan't have that, just to get
God's grace.
We hear it all the time, allthe time.
I grew up in a Baptist churchand that's the whole reason why
I started to dive into the Bibleand started to go scripture to
scripture and verse to verse andchapter to chapter is because I
hate it when people just threwscriptures at me.
(02:26):
Do not do that.
Have a relationship with God.
That's something that I focuson mainly in this podcast, and
I'm able to do that, which isbeing myself going, diving into
the Bible, getting arelationship with Christ, making
sure that I understandscripture from my own knowledge.
(02:49):
Galatians 3 opened that up forme, because it was kind of hard
for me to even grasp what Paulwas talking about, who he was
talking to and what was thewhole thing about Galatians 3.
So if you are in your Bible, the thing I'm going to focus on
with Galatians 3 is the firstone to three verse, when he was
(03:12):
like oh, foolish Galatians, youknow who has cast an evil spell
on you, basically, who hasbewitched you, who has told you
what it is and what it's not Forthe meaning of Jesus Christ's
death was it made clear to you,as if you had seen a picture of
his death on the cross.
Let me ask you this onequestion Did you receive the
(03:34):
Holy Spirit by obeying the lawof Moses?
Of course not.
You received the Spirit becauseyou believe the Holy Spirit by
obeying the law of Moses.
Of course not.
You received the spirit becauseyou believe the message you
heard about Christ.
Now, grace, christ and law wastwo totally different things,
and so grace versus law issomething that struck out to me,
(03:54):
something that struck out to me.
So Paul was not playing and hecalls out the people with love
and truth, because somewherealong the way, the Galatians
started to adding to the grace, like saying you have to believe
this, but I also got to do this, and I got to do that and keep
(04:14):
all these rules.
And Paul was saying absolutelynot, you didn't get saved
because you were good.
You got saved because God isgood.
And that hit me because I usedto live like grace was earned.
I used to check off spiritualboxes, thinking God loved me
more on the days I performedbetter.
But grace doesn't work likethat, and a backstory on saying
(04:37):
I used to work as if I couldearn grace is I would do stuff
for people just to feel like, ohwell, maybe if I did this they
will like me better, or maybe ifI adjusted to how they thought
of me, well, maybe they canextend their grace to me.
But that's not how it worked, and I had to go through that
(04:59):
just to realize that.
I even had to deal with somesituations where I'm extending
my grace to people and people istaking it, but nobody's
extending that grace back to me.
So we have to kind of becareful between law and grace.
There is no wrong or right wayyou can receive God's love Like
(05:20):
it's available for everybody.
You don't have to do a certainthing besides believe that
you're supposed to receive it,and that's where Galatians 3 hit
me at.
So grace doesn't work like atit for tat.
Great grace doesn't measureyour worth by your output.
Okay, and so my journey withguilt.
(05:41):
Like I said, for years Ithought I had to earn peace, I
had to earn grace, I thought Ihad to do certain things just to
receive what God was alreadypromised me, what God already
gave me.
But when you're not walking inrelationship with God, when
you're not hand in hand with God, you don't know those things.
So you're open to allowingpeople to put what they believe
(06:06):
on you.
You are open to allowing peopleput their grace on you where
they're saying, oh well, you gotto be like this to get God's
grace, or you can't do this youcan't smoke, you can't drink,
you can't party to get God'sgrace and that's not true.
So Paul was in the church of theGalatians.
He was actually talking to theGalatian people because these
were new Christians and as a newChristian and as a new believer
(06:29):
, you really don't know whichway to go.
You don't know what kind ofrelationship you're trying to
aim for for God.
So for me and this wholepodcast thing is that's why I
started it I didn't know how toget my relationship with God,
because you're so used tohearing what the church or the
preacher or this person tellingyou what to do and honestly,
(06:50):
it's not like that.
If you take out the time towalk in relationship with Christ
, god is going to show you who.
He's going to show you to thebook of knowledge, where he's
going to point you, to thepeople he's going to point you
to and even remove from you asyou constantly walk with grace.
Okay, so I thought God's favoronly flow when I got it right.
(07:12):
Like I said, if I did this, ifI took care of these people, if
I gave this, oh well, god willgive it back in return, or I can
get, I will be peaceful.
But in honesty, I was hurt, Iwas depressed, I was miserable,
and every time I extended myselfto do something that God didn't
(07:33):
tell me to do, I always got theback end of it, like I always
felt guilty of doing things thatI thought was right and that's
just not like how you supposedto go about it, right?
So during my two year pause, heshowed me that.
The opposite, he showed me thatI didn't have to be guilty for
(07:55):
being the person that I was, forbeing a giver, for being a
person who experienced trauma, aperson that was coming from
poverty to create legacy.
He actually showed me that Idon't have to feel guilty of
being this person that I am,that he was extending the grace
to me past my knowledge.
Even what's so crazy is becauseI was talking to my friend and
(08:17):
we were talking about grace andwe were talking about extending
the grace to our past selves.
When you're in a relationshipand you're dealing with somebody
that you shouldn't be dealingwith, or a situation that you
shouldn't be dealing with, atthat time you don't know, like,
how you're going to feel or howthe situation is going to end up
.
So I was telling my friend thatwe should give ourselves grace
(08:37):
for the young girls that we werewhen we set up and dealt with
situations that we shouldn'thave dealt with or extended
ourselves too much when wedidn't get the return back.
You know, give that persongrace.
And time after time after time, year after year after year,
through my whole eight yearspiritual walk, I had to learn
(08:58):
to give myself grace.
I felt guilty for walking awayfrom my family.
I felt guilty for dancing inthe club.
I felt guilty for making acertain amount of money.
I felt guilty when I wanted totransition into another life.
I felt guilty over and over andover again, and the whole time
(09:18):
God was just extending his grace, extending his grace, extending
his grace, and I never wasreceiving it because I was
allowing my guilt to overrideGod's grace.
So there were days I didn'tfeel worthy, days.
I still wrestle with the oldhabits, heavy shame of, like I
said, working and leaving myfamily for me to financially
(09:41):
stabilize myself, working in aclub so I can transition into
real estate.
All of those things was guilt, guilt, guilt.
Oh, you need to do this.
You can't be doing this.
If you walking with God, youcan't say this.
If you walk, you can't sharethis.
And all of that is guilt.
Oh, you need to do this.
You can't be doing this.
If you walking with God, youcan't say this.
If you walk, you can't sharethis.
And all of that is guilt.
And God does not work like that.
And I had to learn that on myown and that's why I studied
(10:02):
Galatians three.
And when I say I studiedGalatians three up and down, up
and down, I'm like what is thiswhole argument about?
But if you had to set it up,you can think of it like a
courtroom and Paul is basicallydefending himself.
And he defended himself because, when it comes to Christ,
everybody tried to put theirnotion on how Christ should be
(10:23):
in your life or what you shouldbe doing to receive Christ.
But it says it in the Biblethat as long as you believe that
Christ died for you, as long asyou believe that Christ died
for you, then you shall receiveChrist.
And having Christ, you shallreceive faith, you shall receive
grace, you shall receive peace.
But not everybody walks withChrist.
I do.
(10:44):
I walk with Christ, I honor God.
But I walk with Christ becauseI'm mirroring who Christ was.
I'm not always perfect, I don'tknow everything and I really
don't know nothing, but I go offof what Christ did and who
Christ is to help me understandwho I am and how I can get
through it.
So Galatians 3 reminded me thatthe law was never the plan for
(11:07):
salvation.
It was only a mirror to show usour need for grace.
And Galatians 3, 3, 11, it saysso.
It is clear that no one can bemade right with God by trying to
keep the law.
For the scripture says it isthrough faith that a righteous
person has life.
That part right there.
It is through faith that arighteous person has life, not
(11:30):
through hustle, not throughreligion, not through legalism,
not through pressure, but justthrough faith.
So, from poverty to promise, that hit differently for me,
because I've known what it feelslike to be stuck.
I've long, I've known what itfelt like to grow up in survival
(11:50):
as the only strategy.
And reading Galatians 3 saysthe promise didn't come by law,
so it came by inheritance.
And I am a child of God, whichmeans I've inherited the promise
that God already gave.
So legacy is a reserve for theelite.
It belongs to those who believe, and that's what LeVette Legacy
(12:16):
is about.
We don't just chase wealth.
I didn't just chase wealth tochange my life.
I chased God, and Godestablished wealth over me and
removed poverty from my identity, because I was never born, I
was supposed to be born intopoverty.
It just so happens to be mycircumstances.
But I'm a child of God, whichmeans I inherit all things of
(12:38):
the kingdom.
I'm already rich, I'm alreadywealthy.
But how can I get there, howcan I shift there, if I'm living
in guilt?
I cannot, and that's why Icreated LaBette Legacy, and it
took years to establish what I'mdoing, and it took time too.
It didn't just happen overnight.
So I have to give myself graceand get out of that guilt mode,
(12:59):
because I'm exactly where I'msupposed to be.
Faith isn't just about heaven.
It's about healing your historywhile building your future.
And so let me speak to somebodyright now.
You're doing everything rightand it still don't feel free.
You're praying, you're tithing.
You're probably going to church.
(13:19):
You're probably not going tochurch.
You're probably hiding from God.
You're probably not hiding fromGod.
Well, this episode is for you, because salvation isn't
available by obeying the law.
It's only available through theopen doors of faith.
And the beauty of that is thatit's already done.
(13:42):
You don't need to earn it, youjust need to receive it.
It's so funny because I'vetried to receive faith over and
over and over again and I waslike, oh, look at their faith.
They have stronger faith thanme.
I must be doing something wrong.
And God constantly told me.
It was like you don't have faith.
Because you don't believe youhave faith.
(14:03):
You don't get hand in hand withme to talk to me why you should
have faith.
You don't believe that youshould be out of that situation.
You don't believe that youdeserve a million dollar house.
You don't believe that youdeserve a million dollar house.
You don't believe that you gota hundred thousand dollars in
your bank account.
You don't believe that yourkids are stars.
Like he's just hitting me backto back.
Like you don't believe that youcome from me and I was like whoa
, crying boohoo.
(14:25):
Like yes, I do.
I do believe it, um, but Ididn't.
I really didn't, because Ididn't see it.
I couldn't identify it.
I didn't know what it lookedlike, until I start walking hand
in hand and start reading myBible and I start telling God
clean me out, show me what Ineed to do.
Even in the places that I am,talk to me like, use me.
I don't care for her if itbreaks me up, if it tears me
(14:48):
into pieces.
Do what you got to do with me.
And so that's why I'm here infront of you guys.
But that's a story for anothertime.
So trying to earn grace is likerecharging your phone by holding
up to the sun.
Baby, it's not going to worklike that.
You got to plug it in, you gotto get plugged in, you got to
get with God, and I've beendoing that.
I've been getting with God on adaily, and so Faithful Fin Talk
(15:10):
is that I connect my faith withmy finance.
I cannot be financially stableif I don't believe and have the
faith that I can be financiallystable, and today I'm actually
financially stable.
I'm just not in that wealthyspace that I would love to be.
But I see it, I believe it,like I know it's there.
So where do we go from here inGalatians 3?
(15:33):
Galatians 3 literally shook myunderstanding of salvation.
It reminded me that the sameway I started this journey with
faith is the same way I mustcontinue.
That means, even when I fallshort, even when I don't think I
can do it, I'm still covered.
Even when I don't feel holy, the Holy Spirit is still with me
.
Even though I don't feel love,I'm still love.
(15:55):
And even when I mess up, I'mstill marked.
I'm still marked to be thegreatest thing that I should be
walking in my purpose and beingall that I should be.
