SPEAKER_00 (00:04):
Hey, hey, hey! Welcome to the Faithfully
Confident Podcast with ChristianConfidence Coach Courtney Berry.
That's me.
This podcast was created forthose of you who God called to
become entrepreneurs and youdesire the confidence, pursue a
business.
If you're starting on yourjourney and want to learn all
things faith, confidence, marketing, and sales, you are in

(00:25):
the right place.

social and tag me atSheBloomsFaithly on Instagram.
I'll catch you later and enjoytoday's episode.
Oh, and don't forget tosubscribe.

(00:48):
I am still tired.
I'm still burnt out.
I'm showing up the best I caneven when I don't feel like it.
And this week God's beenreminding me that sometimes the
most obedient thing that I cando is rest.
Have you ever felt guilty forresting?
Like you're letting people down, letting your business down,

(01:08):
letting God down because you'renot doing your business or just
losing momentum or everythingwill fall apart if you slow
down.
If that's you, then this episodeis definitely for you because
today we're talking about whatto do when rest feels wrong, but
it's exactly what you need.

(01:30):
So if you're ready, let's do aquick little prayer here.
Lord, thank you for being ourrest and our refuge.
Thank you for reminding us thatour worth isn't tied to our
productivity.
Father, teach us to rest in yourpresence and to trust that you
are working even when we're not.

(01:53):
Father, quiet the guilt, quietthat noise, and fill our spirit
with peace today.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
If you are anything like me, youknow rest does not feel natural
when you are someone who is justso used to pushing and hustling

(02:15):
and just in that go, go, gomentality.
You're so used to being busy andalways doing something.
For so many of us, especially asentrepreneurs, especially as
moms, as women who wear athousand hats, it feels like if
we stop, everything is going tofall apart.

(02:38):
But that is the lie the enemyloves to whisper to us because
if he can keep you running, hecan keep you from hearing.
He can keep you from listeningto what God is trying to tell
you because you're so busyrunning around with those
thoughts that you just you can'tslow down to hear.
And I've learned that thedifference between striving and

(03:00):
surrendering is trust.
Striving says it's up to me.
I can do it.
I got it.
Let me just get it done.
And surrendering says, I can bestill.

(03:23):
He withdrew to quiet places.
He took time away from thecrowd, away from the noise, away
from work.
And if the son of God needed torest, what makes us think we can
do we can do it without resting?
We need rest too.
Rest is obedience.

(03:43):
Rest isn't being lazy, it'sobedience.
It's saying, God, I trust you tosustain what you've called me to
do, and I am okay to be stilland to rest.
Sometimes we're confusing thatbusyness with being faithful.
But we think being busy meansbeing productive, but that's I

(04:09):
don't think that's God'simpression.
God's impressed by motion, he'simpressed by obedience.
You move when he tells you tomove, not because you feel like
you have to be moving and thatyou're being faithful by moving.
He will tell you when to move, and then you can move and be
obedient.
But sometimes God is telling usto rest, and that is one of the

(04:31):
most faith-filled things you cando.
Because it means you're takingtaking your hands off the wheel
and saying, Lord, you can drivethis part.
Jesus, take the wheel.
Think about it like this youcannot pour from an empty cup,
and you can't drive on thosefumes forever.

(04:52):
Eventually, you have to pullover and refuel.
You're going to run out of gas.
You can't just keep driving.
You will stop running.
And our bodies are the samething.
You need to refuel yourself.
Your spirit needs refueling.
And when that rest feels wrong, when you've spent your entire

(05:14):
life hustling, it can feeluncomfortable, it can feel like
you're being lazy, but the worldglorifies that hustle.
Whereas the kingdom honors thatstillness.
It says be still in the Bible.
It says be still for a reason.
And sometimes the hardest partof rest isn't putting the work

(05:36):
down.
It's quieting that guilt whenwe're putting the work down.
It's that voice that says you'refalling behind.
You should be doing more.
Why are you stopping?
You need to get this done.
If you don't do this, then it'snot going to get done.

But here's the truth (05:50):
rest is faith in motion.
It's saying, I don't have tomake it happen.
I just have to let God move.
And He will move.
He will move.
I took an entire year sabbaticalfrom my business.
And that was the most incredibleyear that I had after I started.

(06:13):
That was my most successful yearafter I was faithful and I took
that year off to just learnwhere God wanted to be in my
business.
And I was not where He wanted meto be.
And it was so, so hard to stepback.
I did not want to do it.
And I was mad at God.
I'm like, how dare you make mestep back from my business when

(06:35):
this is about to be my mostsuccessful month I've ever had?
Like, what I don't understand.
Why are you making me quit?
Well, he wasn't making me quit.
He was making me redirect whereI was in my business to where he
wanted me to be, because it's soeasy for us to go the way that
we want to go and not the waythat God is choosing for us.

(06:55):
Especially when we're surroundedby social media and all the
different things around us, it'sso easy to get distracted, you
know, shiny object syndrome.
Ooh, that's really cool, and goto the next best thing.
But it's really important thatwe take that rest and we step,
step down at times.
And again, rest doesn't alwaysmean doing nothing.

(07:18):
Sometimes it does.
With me, it was literally doingnothing.
I quit my business for a fullyear because God's like, I need
you to step away.
So eventually I was obedient.
But sometimes simply shifting, even just how you breathe, how
you move, how you connect withGod, and just learning to rest
within that faith.

(07:39):
It can look like 10 minutes ofprayer, worship, or journaling
can refill that soul.
Not just, you know, creating aSabbath moment, but a Sabbath
day where you have that day toyourself.
Or not sorry, that day, butthose moments.
So find those moments of peacewithin yourself that you can

(08:02):
rest in God.
Replace those hustling thoughtswith the truth.
So when God says you're behind,or sorry, not when God says, Oh
my goodness, have I mentionedI'm still a little tired and not
with it?
When your brain says you'rebehind, not God, when your
brain, when your brain saysyou're behind, speak the

(08:23):
scripture.
Speak scripture.
Psalm 46, 10 says, be still andknow that I am God.
Write that down somewhere andlook at it.
Give it as to as a reminder toyourself.
Sometimes rest looks differentin each season.
Sometimes rest is napping.
Sometimes rest is going for awalk with worship music.
Sometimes it's simply sitting insilence and just letting your

(08:46):
thoughts settle and just let theHoly Spirit speak to you.
And you need to remember toprotect that peace.
Don't fill every quiet spacewith noise or scrolling.
Let that silence stretch longenough for God to speak to you.
And when you are silent, he willspeak to you because you have no
distractions.

(09:06):
And God does some of his deepestwork in our stillness.
So when we rest, he restores.
When we pause, he gives usclarity.
When we stop striving andhustling, he can finally step in
and do his best work.

(09:27):
Rest isn't wasted.
It is holy time.
And you're not losing momentum.
You're letting God move.
And I truly, truly believe thatsometimes the next level of your
business, your faith, yourpurpose is simply waiting for
you on the other side of a nap,a walk, or a quiet moment of

(09:49):
prayer.
If you keep pushing when you'renot in that moment, in the right
moment, in the right m mindset,or just there's so many
distractions around you, you'reforcing something that's not
meant to be forced.
Your business should flownaturally because it's God's
business too.
It shouldn't, it shouldn't behard.

(10:10):
It shouldn't be rushed.
It shouldn't be like I want tosay discombobulated, but I don't
think that's the word I'mlooking for.
But it shouldn't feel likesomething isn't right.
It should just feel right.
It should feel natural.
It should flow.
And if it's not, and you're justso tired right now, and you're

(10:33):
in a space where it just showingup feels hard.
Hear me out when I say this.
Again, you're not fallingbehind.
You're just being refined.
You're not being lazy.
You're just learning to lean in.
And the same God who gave youthe vision is also going to
sustain you while you rest.
Your business isn't goinganywhere.

(10:53):
Your customers aren't goinganywhere.
Your membership isn't goinganywhere.
Your podcast isn't goinganywhere.
Whatever it is, it's not goinganywhere.
God is telling you to rest.
If He's telling you to rest, then listen.
