Speaker 1 (00:53):
Thank you.
Hello guys, how are you doingtoday?
Welcome to another fabulousepisode of Fan Faces Plus with
your boy, amadou.
Amadou the Great, I'm veryexcited to have you here today.
There's a little change inlocation, as you can see.
We're in my backyard doingbackyard things and there's a
(01:15):
friend here trying to join me inthe show.
But I hope I don't taste toosweet because I'm not food honey
.
But on to different topics.
Today, some of the topics that Iwant to get into are the
Olympics, the starting I meanthe beginning of the Olympics,
how it got to be, and also topfive NFL quarterbacks that are
(01:36):
making decent money in the year2024, in the 2024 season.
So why don't you join me onthis journey and let's get going
?
I'll try to keep it simple andenjoyable for you guys, all
right.
All right, let's go.
First and foremost, we'll startwith the 2024 Summer Olympics
in Paris.
Yeah, summer Olympics in Paris.
(01:58):
They're ongoing right now, butI thought that you guys out
there should get a littleinformation, whether or not you
want, whether or not you know, for you to you know be informed
on the particular beginnings ofthe Olympics.
So, summer 2024, paris Olympics, and not the first time there's
been.
There's been Olympics in Paris, but it won't certainly be the
(02:23):
last, and I'll give you somebackground information on how
some of these countries get tobe host countries and what goes
into it.
All right, so, first andforemost, to put a bid in to
become one of the hosts for anOlympic cycle, you have to be a
(02:43):
member of the IOC.
If you're not a member of theIOC, you can't be allowed to
even participate in, you know, basically putting in a bid.
So there's about 206 countriesthat are members of the IOC and
there's 184 athletes excuse me,there's 184 countries that
(03:04):
participate in the Olympicsevery summer.
That it comes Well, summerOlympics anyways.
So what's it called?
We got Paris hosting it thisyear, and Paris, among two other
cities, have hosted the SummerOlympics three times.
Alright, three times.
That's pretty amazing.
No other country has hosted itmore than twice.
(03:24):
I mean, I'm sure there's noother countries hosted it more
than twice.
Yeah, I mean, I'm sure there'sother countries that have hosted
it more than twice, but Parishas hosted it three times.
And then there's two othercities that have hosted it more
than two times.
I'll let you find out thoseother countries and put them
down in the comments below.
I'll give you a littleassignment there, folks, go
check them, go check it out, putit in the comments section.
(03:46):
Let me know what othercountries have participated more
than two times in the SummerOlympics.
All right, so let's get going onit.
To basically get selected as acountry, I mean as a city, to
host the Olympics, there's avoting system, there's a secret
ballot voting system and in thissecret ballot voting system,
(04:06):
every country, everyparticipating member of the IOC
can vote, except for the people, except for the country or the
city that's hopeful, except forthe city that it's a hopeful
city to get the bid.
If you are representative ofthat hopeful city to host the
Olympics, if you're a member, you cannot cast a vote in the
(04:29):
secret ballot.
You must abstain from votingbecause it's technically what's
it called?
An advantage to you, right?
So, basically, all thecountries would vote and the
country, all the countries wouldvote, or all the cities would
vote, and the city with the mostvotes it's by populace, the
city with the most votes gets ahost Olympics.
(04:49):
And in 2024, I'm sure theyplanned it years ahead for the
2024 Summer Olympics For the2024 Summer Olympics, paris won
the bid in the secret ballot andwhen Paris won the bid.
They're hosting the Olympicsright now and they're ongoing.
And I mean the Olympics arepretty cool.
There's camaraderie, there'snationalism involved.
You have a bunch of countriesthat get really, really excited
(05:13):
to go participate.
There's some countries thathave 500 plus athletes.
There's some countries thathave you know what's it called
Maybe one or two or maximum fiveathletes that participate, but
still everybody.
It's an inclusive situationreally.
So that's pretty cool.
But the general Olympics runfor two weeks, what we see.
(05:35):
But I'm sure there's eventsthat they do in the background
that lead up to the major twoweeks that we get to watch, up
to the major two weeks that weget to watch, like the
qualifying event for certainsports.
And you know the prepping andthe prepping years before you
know, to get the Olympics moving.
(05:55):
But that happens.
People prep, athletes prep, athletes prep, and cities prep
for the Olympics, which ispretty cool.
Everybody has to get ready sothat they can put their best
foot forward.
But I mean to top it all offthough, yes, it's a voting
system.
It's a wink-wink, not votingsystem.
(06:16):
You don't.
You know, you don't what's itcalled.
You don't cast a ballot foryour own city, but I'm sure
there's a wink-wink, not anagreement where there's some
money put in place, where somepeople, some countries, could
win the bid, where you know theyrig it in some way somehow.
(06:38):
But I'm not going to get intothat Because I don't know much
about that.
But here's a fun fact about theOlympics, the Summer Olympics
at least no African nation, noAfrican city has ever hosted an
Olympic, but plenty of Europeans, plenty of Americans, plenty of
Latin American countries andcities have hosted the Summer
Olympics.
So keep that in mind.
(06:59):
Maybe in a couple years to come, or maybe in the next Olympic
or maybe in the Olympics to come, african can host it.
But that's all I have on theOlympics.
Let's get on to some Americanfootball.
Football season is upon us andwith football season being upon
us, with football season beingupon us, we got quarterbacks
(07:21):
this year that have gotten paida tremendous amount.
Most of the quarterbacks rightnow I mean top 10 quarterbacks
they're all making millions.
They're making 50 million atleast a year.
Most quarterbacks are.
But recently two quarterbacksgot paid in the 50 million range
Jordan Love of the Green BayPackers got paid $55 million and
(07:46):
Tua Tagovailoa got paid $53million a year.
But that's not the staggeringamount.
The amazing amount is what'sguaranteed to them.
I know Tua got guaranteedapproximately $160 million
guaranteed in the deal.
So he's making $53.1 million ayear annually, plus $50.
Plus the $160 million guaranteeto him that he gets to take
(08:11):
home out of the contract that hesigned for four years.
But really you know you're atrue superstar when you get the
money that's guaranteed to you.
The guaranteed money is reallywhere the creme de la creme live
.
Right, let's say you're making$55 million a year for a
(08:31):
contract that spans four years, but if they guaranteed you
upwards of $200 million, thenyou're really top-notch as far
as quarterbacks go and that'spretty amazing.
You deserve every bit of itbecause you carry the burden win
or lose.
You take on theresponsibilities win or lose,
you take the fault.
You take the blame win or lose.
You take the fault.
You take the blame, win or lose.
(08:52):
So quarterbacks deserve it.
Quarterbacks have to knoweverybody's position and
everybody's assignment on thefield.
Not every other player needs toknow that.
The quarterback needs toabsolutely know every other
position in the field, which ispretty cool, I mean.
Which is a pretty heavy.
Heavy crown to carry, heavyload to carry.
I mean, which is a pretty heavy, heavy crown to carry, heavy
load to carry and you know can'tblame him for giving them that
(09:14):
money.
But some of the quarterbacksthat got awesome guaranteed
money and well-deserved.
You got Joe Burrow $219 millionguaranteed in his contract.
You got Trevor Lawrence he got$200 million guaranteed.
But I don't thoroughly believethat Trevor Lawrence deserved
(09:34):
$200 million guaranteed.
He hasn't really performed wellin the playoffs.
He hasn't gone to the SuperBowl.
Joe Burrows has gone to theSuper Bowl and Tua.
Up to the time he got CoachMcDaniels, tua wasn't really
performing well and Miamiwouldn't have probably picked up
his fifth-year option.
But they're paying him as ifhe's a superstar at $53 million
(09:58):
and Jared Goff getting that $170million guaranteed.
He deserves it because he'sbeen to the Super Bowl.
Jared's been to the Super Bowl.
Joe Burrows has been to theSuper Bowl.
Getting to the Super Bowl showsthat you you know you deserve
that money and you've playedyour butt off to get that money.
Joe Burroughs beat PatrickMahomes to get to the Super Bowl
(10:18):
.
Jared Goff who did he beat?
Who did he beat to get to theSuper Bowl?
I can't remember who he beat, but he deserves that money
Because when he was playing forthe Rams.
It was a very, very powerfulteam when they played, very
powerful.
So you know, I just thought I'dthrow some of these thoughts
out at you guys, and it's been awhile since you guys seen me,
(10:40):
so I thought I, you know, put itout there for the world.
Some of these quarterbacksdeserve the money, some of them
don't.
And, as far as the SummerOlympics goes, I'll keep you
updated and keep you informed onwho's doing what and what teams
are doing what they're doing.
