(00:01):
Welcome to Fangirl Football.
I'm Judy.
And I'm Lauren.
Welcome to our Saturday MiniDFS episode for week 17.
We have a couple of games thisSaturday after some fun yesterday
for Christmas Day games.
So let's jump in and talk allthe games this Saturday and then
(00:21):
build some lineups.
What do y'all say?
Let's do it.
Sounds good.
Yeah, sounds good.
Might be more of a weatherreport than a game analysis this
week, but.
I think Saturday looks okay, but Sunday not so much.
Weather will be impacting ournext discussion.
If you are listening to thisone, check out our Sunday DFS episode
(00:42):
as well.
We'll link it in thedescription once it is out.
Let's jump into the Chargersat the Patriots where the Chargers
are favored by four and theover under is 42 and a half.
Normally I don't think I'dlook too closely at 42 and a half
games, but what about this one?
Yeah and at three game slatewe're going to see what kind of value
we can squeeze here and Ithink there is some value in the
(01:06):
passing games here.
We kind of have some of thelesser known skill positions compared
to the other names we'll talk about.
I think the New England passcatchers they're letting May air
it out and he's looked prettygood, but he is spreading it out
between Douglas, Keshan, Butteand Bourne.
But I think all of them have adecent shot collectively to score
(01:27):
a touchdown.
One of those three of them.
So then if you can hit on thatvalue, it really gives you some leverage
moving forward into the slate.
It does.
I think we're on oppositesides of which one of these New England
pass catchers it might be inrecent weeks.
It definitely seems like it'smore Keisha Butte than Demario Douglas,
but we can even Bourne hasseen more targets than Douglas few
(01:53):
weeks.
I will say Douglas got in theend zone a couple weeks ago and then
last week he had one calledback where he was barely an incompletion
and they reviewed it andflipped it.
But also they heavily involvedtheir pass catching and I think Austin
Hooper is shot in the dark.
There's not too many tightends on the slate and so I think
almost everyone will goMcBride or Hunter Henry or even Will
(02:15):
Diseley for the Chargers.
And Austin Hooper might be aninteresting way where they both got
four catches last time.
A lot of times when you playHunter Henry you're watching some
guy catch the ball and thenyou realize it's Hooper after you've
already been cheering.
So I can see that happeningagain and he might be a good way
to get different on thesmaller game slate.
(02:37):
You mentioned Disley, which Iwho I know was injured recently,
which is kind of a good segueto Chargers who are still injured
and questionable.
I think I saw Gus Edwards is out.
Yeah, we got Edwards out andwe got Dobbins trying to return from
IR and he's still questionable.
So as of now, the quotes we'vegotten from their offensive coordinator,
(02:59):
it seems like he's going toplay and we're projecting him to
play.
But behind them we've gotHaskins and Videl.
Do you have any lean for those three?
I like Haskins a little bitmore than Vidal.
Videl's just done nothing andshown me nothing all year.
Last week they used Haskins inthe passing game so we had two catches
(03:20):
and a touchdown.
He almost got to 12 fantasy points.
I like that option of beingthe pass catcher.
They have not passed to Vidalat all.
Yeah, personally I think ifDobbins is active he will see a heavy
involvement and especiallythis is kind of a rainy game in New
England and they might justlean on the run if they can against
(03:44):
a pretty weak New England defense.
To me, that's why you don'twant to bring back J.K.
dobbins if it's sloppy.
I don't want my returning frominjured injury player going out in
a game that has a little bitmore risk to it.
I would rather if possiblelean on my other two backs and try
(04:06):
to keep at least JK Dobbinshealthy for the playoffs.
I think that makes sense.
And if it's a competitivegame, I think Dobbins will get more
involvement just because thisis a winning in situation for the
Chargers playoffs and.
But you can't think this isgoing to be a competitive game.
I don't know.
Vegas has only a four point spread.
(04:26):
They think New England's goingto be in it come the end of the game.
So the Chargers have the topscoring defense in the NFL and they've
allowed 20 points or less onall of its road games.
I don't think this is the gamethat they give up more than 20 points
and let New England have theirway with them.
Yeah, I think that's kind of,you know, 42 point over under says
(04:51):
more about what they think ofthe Chargers expectations and they're
kind of banged up skill positions.
But McConkey is a great playin this limited slate for just the
PPR bonus to and he's theengine of that passing game.
For the Chargers he is.
And I think this is this oneis going to come down to weather
and how bad is it because Ireally want to keep players healthy
(05:12):
and just make the playoffsright now if I'm the Chargers.
And by the way, is Disley in?
I thought he was stillquestionable and it could be stone
smart at tight end who hasbeen pretty involved as.
Well, even if he isn't.
They've also had Hayden Hurstreturn last week and with three of
them kind of sharing tight endsnaps, that's not really a situation
(05:35):
where I want to get into itand I think I'm just avoiding all
three of them.
Let's continue on to theDenver Cincinnati game where Cincinnati's
favored by three and a halfover under is 49 and a half.
This is a much higher over under.
We like games with Cincinnati.
They tend to put up the 30points and let the other team put
up 30 points.
We got a lot of running backson the Denver side to go through.
(05:58):
We do.
Rain's also likely at thisgame, but it looks to be 62 degrees
in Cincinnati and no winds.
Yeah, we still got somemotivation in this game.
Cincinnati still hanging offfor dear life for some playoff hopes
and they need this win to tryto steal it from the Broncos.
But like you were saying, there has been a lot of value attacking
the Cincinnati defense.
(06:19):
Running backs tend to havegreat games against Cincinnati.
So what can we actually dowith the Broncos offense?
They really like theircommittee and they share the touches
between Audrey Estimate,Javante Williams and McLaughlin and
each of them are about they'repretty cheap, just like those New
England pass catchers.
If you're able to hit on thesecheaper dart throws in this limited
(06:42):
slate, it's going to give youa lot of value and kind of skyrocket
you up those tournament leaderboards.
My personal lean is McLaughlin.
He's been seeing about 46% ofthe total running back touches, combined
receptions and run attempts.
He did sit out the last game, but it was a Thursday night game,
(07:02):
it was a short week, so he'shad that longer time to recover from
that injury and he's heavilyinvolved in the passing game.
So even if the Bengals get upto start this game, he'll be involved.
He'll be on the field in thecomeback Attempts and only 4.7000.
I think he's the best deal outof all three of them.
I am concerned and one of thethings that I'd like to look up in
(07:23):
this game is particularly inthe Broncos matchup with Cleveland
how used was he there?
Because they were clearly in ashootout against the Browns when
that game went crazy.
So if any of the running backswere used in that game, then I would
be okay going a little bitmore in on them.
(07:44):
But if they abandon that rungame because they're behind, I think
they're going to be behind inthis game as well.
Against Cincinnati, this gamecould like stall a little bit early
and then they start movingJamar, chase around and get him away
from Sutain and they figureout how to get him the ball.
(08:04):
In that high scoring game.
When the Broncos were in thatshootout with Cleveland, McLaughlin
was the clear leading rusherwith 14 carries compared to three
and one for the other tworunning backs.
And then none of them wereheavily involved in the passing games.
You wound up more with thedownfield threats with Sudden and
Mims showcasing in those games.
That's what I'm afraid isgoing to happen here, that we're
(08:27):
going to be all passing, thatthe, the Broncos are going to get
behind and they're going totry to catch up and they're just
going to abandon that run andgo to Cortland, Sutton and Mems.
But if it's raining may notwork out that way.
Yeah.
And I think that defense willkeep them in it.
I don't think they'll far falltoo far behind.
(08:50):
The Broncos have continued tobeat expectations throughout the
year.
So on an interesting note onover, unders and rain, I pulled the
data today for the season andof all the games just over 51% hit
the over.
This year if it rains, only41% are hitting the over.
(09:12):
So there's a pretty good gapthere where we have to be a little
bit concerned and this couldend up being a very low scoring week
for dfs.
Yeah.
And this is the highest overunder the slate.
I think this is the primarygame that people are going to attack
on this three game slate.
So if you want to tell thestory that you know there's some,
(09:33):
there's some rain, we've gotsome, we've got a good Denver defense
and Denver on offense is kindof inept.
They're trying to run the ballbut nothing's really working.
And this game justdramatically hits the under.
We get a 21 to 14 game and godifferent then then you'll have some
(09:54):
good leverage on the rest ofthe field.
That had those Chase Higginsstacks could be interesting.
I also do love Josevich.
I think he's a steal at 3,800.
He had a season high 53receiving yards last week and his
sixth touchdown catch for the season.
He's had three home games in arow with a touchdown.
(10:15):
I think he is a great dart throw.
There's a lot of good pay upoptions, so he might be a good cheap
punt option to kind of fit inand make the rest of your lineup
work.
We got one more game on this slate.
Arizona at the Rams, where theRams are favored by six and a half
and the over under is 47 and a half.
Is there any weather here?
Because I remember that thatstadium, the SOFI stadium, can have
(10:38):
lightning delays apparently.
Even though it looks like acovered stadium.
Hopefully it's covered butlike, yeah, the sides are kind of
open and I guess, I don'tknow, hopefully there's no lightning
in LA this weekend.
I think, I think we should seethis one.
Should be one of the prettyweather free games we have on the
(10:58):
slate.
But my worry is how motivatedare the Cardinals going to be?
We've seen LA have those crazyhigh scoring games, but it really
seems to be the right.
You need the right recipe for those.
You need a high scoringoffense on the other side.
They're at home in the domeand they have to go back and forth
with them and so we know theycan get there.
(11:18):
But will Arizona actually putup enough of a fight now that they've
already been eliminated fromthe playoffs to get there?
Yeah, I don't know.
It doesn't seem like they havea whole lot of fight left in them
and now they've got issuesrunning back with James Conner and
Trey Benson both injured andlimited in practice.
So we're waiting to see whomight be running the ball.
(11:39):
Earlier in the week they, theykind of indicated there was more
wrong with James Conner, so Iwouldn't want to even start him in
this situation.
I feel like the Rams areactually a pretty good match, but
I feel even if James Connerplays, he won't play the whole game.
Did McBride get his touchdowns yet?
No, he did not get them last week.
(12:01):
This is a good spot for him.
He does pretty well and he'sdone pretty well against LA in the
past and he has a good matchup here.
But my worry is that how muchdo they actually want to beat him
up?
He's going to be a key part ofthat offense moving into next year
and they might protect him.
But I will say that he waspissed off at the end of the last
(12:22):
game where he was gettingpulled off the field in critical
downs and he was letting thecoaching staff know it.
So he might have that squeakywheel effect and I really do like
him in a pay up spot.
There's not too many tightends on this slate so he could be
a true difference maker andhave those a hundred yard games get
that bonus on DraftKings.
(12:42):
I was equally as mad he costme best ball last week.
His five points.
I couldn't believe it.
All I need is like 15 pointsfrom you and I.
I'm advancing and nope.
Yeah, he had the master too.
Five points.
Yeah, he did.
And I feel like Kyron Williamsout of this game is one that we have
(13:03):
to have because the Cardinalsgave up the 41 points to Charbonnet
three weeks ago and 35 toChuba Hubbard last week.
I, I think Kyron is one thatwe've got to slate in and pay for.
I completely agree.
I think he's going to be verypopular but for a good reason and
(13:24):
there's not a lot of thoseelite running back options on the
slate and he's worth the payup spot.
That's exactly what I wasgoing to say is that it feels like
we don't have as many runningback options this week for the Saturday
games and so Williams gives usone of those lock in spots.
Do you think he'll have highownership then though?
I do but let's lock him in.
(13:44):
And start building and thencome back to our stacks.
Yeah, we can talk talk stacks now.
We'll just.
We've put Kyron Williams in there.
So now who do we want to stackaround him?
I'm kind of liking the cheaperside of the Broncos Bengals game.
The Bengals are just are soexpensive to try to get the burrow
(14:06):
and chase and double stack.
But if you're able to get acouple passing touchdowns from Bonix
and he has some good rushingbaseline too then I think he's a
great play at the 6200 price tag.
I agree on nex.
It's interesting.
He's the second most expensivequarterback next to Burrow so they're
anticipating that game as wellwhen they did this pricing.
(14:28):
And our cheapest is MatthewStafford who could have a great day.
But let's put in Bo next.
I like his running upside inthat game.
Are we going with Sutton with him?
I think you need to.
He's been such a clear number one.
Go to forum.
Yeah.
All right, we'll stack bownext with Sutton and that leaves
(14:51):
us.
Who else do we want to pay foron this slate?
We don't have another runningback that I want to pay for because
that would really be ChaseBrown, who could have a great game.
But we probably have so manysavings options that we discussed
that we want to wait and seewhat we can can get there.
(15:13):
Are there any other widereceivers that you want to pay for?
Do you want to pay for JamarChase at 8,400 in this game or even
Puka and the Rams game?
I think I'm my most trustedwide receiver out of this entire
slate would probably be McConkey.
Just because that team'sbanged up, they need a win.
He's finally back healthyagain and he's such a critical aspect
(15:35):
of just the way they move theball that we know he's probably going
to see double digit targetsand especially a ppr.
He should really be an enginefor the Chargers.
All right, we'll put in McConkey.
I like McConkey as long ashe's healthy.
I feel like we have to pick upa wide receiver from the.
From the Cincinnati Bengalsjust with that either expectations
(15:57):
that it's going to be.
I agree.
I don't like Yoshevas to get different.
If everyone's done Chase andHiggins, let's say they won, then
you're going to get so muchvalue out of that pick.
All right, we've got Josevichin there.
Judy.
Three home games in a row witha touchdown.
There you go.
(16:17):
We'll see if he can make it 4.
Do we want to pay up for atight end and go with McBride?
I think just looking at thosenames I'd want to pay up for McBride.
I don't think there's anyonethat's going to kill you of those
other tight ends.
But McBride could.
Can we have the Chargersdefense and just pay up for them
too?
(16:38):
Let's do it.
All right.
We've got an.
We've got two openings left, arunning back and a flex.
And we've got 5,000 per playeraverage left.
We've got $10,000 left.
So if we go with McLaughlin, 4,700.
That's going to leave us at5,300 for our flex, which is pretty
(16:58):
good.
You want to do that?
Yeah, let's lock that in.
Let's do that.
All right.
Now we are looking at our flex position.
I really don't want to messaround with the running backs again.
But I'm not real sure whowe've got down here.
Since we already put in ourcheap play at Josevic.
(17:19):
We need a relativelyinexpensive wide receiver.
We're looking at MarvinHarrison Jr.
At 5200.
Quentin Johnston.
I don't Love these plays.
I'm going to switch over here.
We could pick one of the NewEngland, though.
They're really cheap, though.
Then we're looking at Bourneor Boot.
(17:40):
Yeah.
I think I wouldn't mind theMario Douglas, but a thousand seems
too much of a savings.
So I wonder if it'd be worthgoing back and maybe upgrading Makoni
or even in our quarterback spot.
Because I think the differencebetween Knicks and burrow is about
1,000.
(18:00):
If we do Burrow, we're goingto have to get Chase.
That is true.
Let's see if instead ofMcConkey, is there any way we can
afford Chase?
3,500 for our Flex.
Now we're looking at our NewEngland wide receivers to take a
chance on them.
Born and Booth Bootay.
(18:22):
Yeah.
So we've got Bourne.
Bourne, I think, is the onlyone that we can afford.
But I think he's like.
I'm saying they're all Darth Bros.
So I'm not really tooconcerned over the difference between
Demario Douglas and Bourne.
So we put Bourne in there.
So now that gives us NickSutton and Chase out of that game.
(18:43):
We could have probably goneHiggins if we wanted to instead,
but we already have Josevic inthere as well.
How are you feeling about this?
I like it.
It's basically saying thatHiggins isn't going to be heavily
involved.
I do worry about certain on Chase.
(19:05):
Certain, one of those trueshutdown corners.
But Chase has just beenunstoppable all year.
So I'm willing to bet on talent.
I'm willing to bet on Chase.
Well, and they are movingChase around.
So sometimes he's in the slot, sometimes he's out wide.
And I don't think that certainwill be on him the entire game.
I think he will be going fromChase to T.
(19:27):
Higgins and back and forth.
Yeah.
And especially at the spot athome in a game they need.
I like betting on them.
Yeah, I do, too.
All right, I'm going to update this.
We're going to enter it.
I think that wraps us up thenfor our Saturday episode for week
17, DFS, we have the fangirlfootball contest up and running.
(19:49):
Links are in the description.
We'd love to have you join us.
And then we'll have our SundayDFS episode and contest out shortly.
And links for that are also inthe description.
Happy holidays.
