(00:01):
Welcome to Fangirl Football.
I'm Judy.
And I'm Lauren.
Welcome back.
For our week 17 Sunday DFSepisode, we're gonna review week
16 Sunday DFS and then jumpinto the games for the Sunday slate
this week and build some lineups.
We have a bunch of contestsgoing on and if it's not Saturday
(00:23):
and you're listening to thisepisode or watching this episode,
check out the description aswe have a Saturday episode and a
Saturday contest up andrunning as well.
Let's chat last week's lastweek's DraftKings contest.
Yeah, last week went crazy.
You can see all of the firehere for the winner that they got
with Caleb Williams in thatDetroit Chicago game.
(00:46):
Even though Chicago only putup 17 points, he got to 26.
You probably, you could haveprobably had Bryce Young in there
too because he got to 27points, but you can just see the
list of the ones that were onfire with Jonathan Taylor at 42 points
as well.
Any surprises here for you?
Honestly, I'm just surprisedabout how much this person was able
(01:08):
to fit in.
They went very cheap with theDiami Brown, which we saw Zacchaeus
have a great game and be avery cheap pun option, but look like
this person really just neededevery savings they could get with
getting Gibbs, Connor andTaylor and Justin Jefferson slotted
into and Keenan Allen.
So yeah, he just went a crazyamount of star power really.
(01:29):
And then Taylor had a greatbounce back game and Justin Jefferson
has been dominant recently andthen Caleb Williams did enough in
that second half so you puthim down 17 points, he's going to
score some fantasy points.
This is true.
Anything that you want to note?
Big overview of all of thegames before we jump in.
I know we're going to betalking motivation and how people
(01:54):
winning in other games isgoing to impact how other games are
played if people even try.
We are deep enough in theseason now where everyone has their
minds looking towards playoffs.
So we'll touch bases on whatare these teams playing for?
Are they playing for their jobs?
Are they playing for playoff hopes?
What do they actually want toshowcase to try to lead us to better
(02:15):
plays this week?
I think this is particularlyimportant in the AFC where we've
had a lot of things already settled.
We know that Kansas City isthe top seed and that teams aren't
playing for a lot other than receding.
We have a couple teams tryingto fight into it, but in the NFC
on the opposite side, nothing's been set.
(02:37):
They're still battling it outfor that top spot so the NFC is a
little bit more up in the airthan the afc and we'll identify that
on some of these games.
The other thing that to pointout is all of the outside games have
at least a 40% chance of rain.
There are two dome games, theRaiders at New Orleans and Green
(02:59):
Bay at the Vikings.
But everything else outside itlooks like it's going to rain.
And I, I know we go throughthis in over under order.
So one of the things that Ipulled was in 51% of the games this
year overall they've hit theover pretty much what we would expect
out of Vegas to be a 50, 50.
When it rains, they only hitthe over 41% of the time.
(03:23):
It's a pretty significant difference.
So we will be cautious in someof these rain games, especially when
they have the higher over unders.
Let's jump into the first onewhere Carolina is heading to Tampa
Bay.
And Tampa Bay is favored byseven and a half over under is 49
and a half.
This is an outdoor game, so itfalls into that rain chance.
(03:47):
Carolina's been looking verydifferent the last couple of weeks.
What do y'all like here?
They're finally putting ittogether and we don't really have
to worry about their motivation.
They've been eliminated fromthe playoffs for a while and they
keep fighting because theywant to showcase that they're the
pieces moving forward withthis team to build around.
Bryce Young has been lookingreally good and when we saw these
(04:08):
teams play a couple of weeksago, they gave a show, went into
overtime and Bryce Young hadone of his better games.
I also want to bring up a keyaspect for this is incentives and
contract incentives.
So Mike Evans is known for histhousand yard streak.
The last time he didn't get athousand yards he was in high school
(04:29):
and it was his first year everplaying football.
So my money is he's going todo it again.
He needs 180 yards in thesenext two games to get that done.
And he also has money in hiscontract if he has a thousand yards
for a bonus.
I think the team loves him.
I think Tampa Bay loves himand wants to do everything they can
(04:51):
to get him that.
So I expect him to see doubledigit targets to try to get him in
that spot.
And at seven and a halfthousand, I think he's one of the
better price wide receivers.
Yeah, I agree with you there.
I do like Mike Evans in this game.
The one thing I think isreally interesting from the Panthers
side is their coach DaveCanales is returning to Tampa Bay
(05:13):
where last year he wascoaching there and then he took the
head coaching job at at Carolina.
I do wonder if he has a littlebit more insights to how Baker and
the Bucks work and some of theplays that they like to run or that
maybe bake packers notparticularly good at running.
(05:34):
I I am curious with Buckybeing a little bit more healthy now
how if they'll kind of shiftmore to a run heavy approach.
Bucky's look great and you canrun all over this Carolina defense,
so I really like him in this spot.
I think he's still just toocheap for how explosive he is against
a bad defense at home.
I'm really having some toughtime kind of picking between the
(05:56):
background options in thisgame though.
So McMillan and Coker are allin my options that I'm keeping in
mind but really haven't naileddown one that I truly like for a
secondary option.
I lean Coker just because hedoes have some explosive plays.
But Thielen's kind of thatmore reliable.
Definitely.
Yeah.
It just depends on which partyou're looking for there and at their
(06:20):
salary.
Then you may just wantsomebody that's reliable that can
get your 12 points and move onto your more explosive parts that
you're paying for on on the team.
I don't like Chuba Hubbard inthis matchup.
He only had 43 yards on 12carries in Week 13 when they played
and Tampa Bay is weakeragainst the pass.
(06:42):
They have the ability to stopthat running game and then if you're
playing from behind, you'regoing to abandon that run game as
well.
So Hubbard is not my favoriteto go to this week.
I completely agree.
And also with young just at a5600 price tag, it makes a lot of
builds work pretty neat andhe's been rushing a lot more.
(07:04):
So he had his highest rushingof any game in his career last week
and he also had a rushing touchdown.
He's starting to feel justmore comfortable in that offense
and knowing when he's safe toscramble and get those extra yards.
So y'all would consider ayoung Thielen or maybe a young Coker
stack of some sort?
(07:24):
Yeah, this is a the strategywith picking Young is that you say
him and Baker are about equaland he's the cheaper option.
He's the cheapest quarterbackpretty much on the slate that I care
to go to.
Yeah.
Well, let's move on to thenext game.
(07:44):
Green Bay at Minnesota whereMinnesota's favored by one and a
half over under is 48.5.
I think both the quarterbacksin this game are probably way more
expensive than young.
They definitely are.
Yeah.
So the first.
Yeah, the first time that theymet Love passed for 389 yards.
But that was week four.
(08:05):
A lot of things have changedsince week four.
Yeah, they were chucking it inthat game.
They had four combined interceptions.
I think they had sevencombined passing touchdowns.
Um, it was an exciting one andI am very happy that this game isn't
a dome and we're not seeinganother Green Bay game in in December.
I like all the parts of this game.
(08:26):
I think it just comes down towho can you afford.
I'm not super crazy about evergoing to a Green Bay wide receiver,
but some of them are a littlebit interesting in this one.
I think the one thing gives mea lot more confidence for the Green
Bay wide receivers in thismatchup is how stout the Minnesota
defenses for rushing.
(08:47):
I Jacobs has been amazing thepast few weeks, but I think that'll
correct this week against areally good rushing defense and they'll
spread it more to Jaden Reed, even for options.
Watson's been a little bangedup, so we might see a little bit
more play for Don Tavian Wicks.
Yeah, I think that Watson mayend up not playing, but we'll have
to watch the injury reports ifhe's out and we at least get it down
(09:10):
to 3 instead of 4.
I like taking a chance alittle bit more.
Yeah.
And then you just have thebest home wide receiver ever.
And Justin Jefferson at 8.3projects great for the spot.
Definitely Addison does as well.
Do you think a DarnoldJefferson stack would be worth the
price there or looking aroundat other things here?
(09:33):
I mean, we saw that a coupleweeks ago when it was that week where
Josh Allen stole his thunderafter having a 50 point game.
But we saw multi touchdowngames to both Addison and Jefferson,
so I think it's always in play.
I like more of the Green Bayside and just getting Jefferson and
saying it's more focused onthe Minnesota side.
(09:54):
That's how I've been building it.
Let's move on to the jets atBuffalo where Buffalo is favored
by 10 and a half over under is 46.
This is an outdoor game inBuffalo in December and there's a
chance of rain.
There's more than a chance of rain.
It's not snow.
Everything's warm on the eastcoast this weekend, which is kind
(10:17):
of the good news for the rain situation.
I don't.
I think this is our coldestone and there's a 91% chance of rain
and 14 mile an hour wind.
So this is definitely ourworst of the weather games.
And does anyone have anythingto be playing for here?
No, I kind of hate that game.
Hate this game for that reasonbecause with Kansas City winning
(10:40):
on Christmas, Buffalo islocked at that number two seed.
They can't do anything tochange that.
And the Ravens can't catchthem or no other team in the NFC
can or AFC can catch Buffalo.
So they're just locked at thenumber two seed.
Their only motivation is maybethey want to get Josh Allen the MVP
and showcase him.
But does he not already have it?
(11:02):
I don't know.
Between him and Jackson,Jackson's been making a run recently.
He has.
Would they pull Allen early?
Because Alan's been prettybanged up and could use probably
a little bit of lighter ifI'm, I would give him a break.
I'm not doing any designedruns for him and I'm kind of mentioning
(11:23):
in his ear it's like, hey, just throw it away if it's not there,
like.
Yeah, then I'm pulling up athalftime probably.
I, I, you don't need to winthis game next week.
You'll maybe get a betterweather game when you have to go
play in New England.
You don't have difficultmatchups either week.
You can take your practice andtake and just stay healthy or get
(11:49):
healthy.
Yeah, I think there's onlyreal interest on the jets side.
You know, running backsagainst Buffalo have been a success
all year, especially ifBuffalo doesn't really care to stop
them.
And Buffalo is giving up thefifth most passing touchdowns per
game.
And we know Aaron Rodgerswants to prove he's still great.
(12:10):
Maybe there's a littleinterested in Aaron Rodgers or Devonte
Adams, but Devonte Adams at 7100.
It's a little rough for a gamein a rain, I think.
Yeah, I think this is going tobe a gross game.
I think we're going to seesome backup running back play from
the the Bills and even see alittle bit more Ray Davis and they've
(12:30):
even had like a third runningback kind of entering the mix every
now and then.
I think this is going to berun out the clock, hopefully give
a show to the home crowd andget, get the win in a closer game
than the ten and a half pointspread that Vegas initially set it
at.
Well, let's continue on thento Dallas at Philadelphia where Philadelphia
is favored by nine and a halfover under is 41 and a half.
(12:51):
What is there motivation here again?
It's raining.
There is motivation for thatdefense to show up after they gave
that game away to Washingtonlast week and Philly still hasn't
locked up their division.
If they lose out andWashington wins out, then they could
lose the division.
So they want to lock it upthis week, especially against the
division rivals.
(13:12):
But Dallas is already benchingCD Lamb for the season.
So you're telling me thatbecause the Philadelphia defense
didn't stop Washington lastweekend they could lose and the division
this weekend if Washingtonwins again this weekend?
Yeah, they would need 2, 2more losses in a row and Washington
(13:33):
to still have two more wins.
But I think they'll kind ofjust kill Dallas.
At least I think they will too.
Rush, throw into Brandon Cooksand that's a really talented defense.
I don't I worry what's thatEagles offense going to have to do
to pay off their high endprices for AJ Brown and Saquon most
(13:53):
of the year?
I feel like we just saw theEagles defense shut down games and
they didn't score a whole lotand neither did their opponent and
they're just happy grinding itout and winning that really close
game because they know they'rein control and they don't have to
score.
And I think that thisdefinitely could be another one of
those.
(14:14):
Yeah, I think it's going to besimilar to with Barkley's outlook
at 8.6 thousand.
Kind of what we saw fromDerrick Henry in the Ravens win is
that Derek Henry looked greatin that first half.
He was dominant and then whyare you going to make him run up
the middle more if you don'tneed to if that defense is taking
over.
I like Barkley.
I think he could end up with100 yard, a hundred plus yard game
(14:37):
and score.
But I just don't see himhaving that true ceiling outcome
to help you win tournaments.
And that's with Jalen hurtsmaybe not playing with that concussion
last week.
So we'd have Kenny Pickett in instead.
If he can't play the backups.
Yep, Kenny Pickett's hurt too,so we'll see who ends up playing
there.
(14:57):
Let's move on to the Colts atthe Giants where the Colts are favored
by 8 over under is 40.5.
What's going on.
This is one of those games toothat will be definitely keeping the
back of your mind of whathappened Saturday and maybe revisit
your lineups on Sunday morningbecause there are these group of
AFC teams.
(15:17):
First the Colts and also we'lltalk about Miami later on that they
need a Denver loss to stillhave a playoff shot.
So if Denver goes intoCincinnati and beats them on Saturday,
that really might affect themotivation levels.
But I don't really think it'sas important for the Colts because
Miami's a little bit morestable for their jobs.
The Colts are all playing fornext year and to kind of be critical
(15:41):
pieces moving forward.
Yeah, no one's got a job Ifeel like on the Colts team right
now going forward.
Other than Jonathan Taylor whoheld onto.
The ball last week.
He had a great game.
He had a great bounce up,bounce back game and this is if the
Colts need this win.
I think they could go back tothem and heavily lean on them against
(16:01):
a Giants team that's kind ofgiven up at home.
Yeah, they have.
So one of the interestingthings in this game is Anthony Richardson,
who I'm not usually a fan ofAnthony Richardson, but I feel like
on the slate with all the rainand other situations that I could
have played Anthony Richardsonand not stacked him, just played
him alone.
(16:23):
The problem is he popped up onthe injury report on Thursday for
a second straight day.
He is listed as did notpractice with a back and or a foot
injury and I didn't realize itwas that significant.
So this whole situationchanges a lot if we get Joe Flacco.
My lean is that I think he'sgoing to play in this game especially.
(16:46):
He mentioned some sorenessafter the Titans game, but he didn't
come out for any snaps in that game.
So I think he's going to be there.
I think he's actually a great play.
Like he's still too cheap forjust his running workload.
He almost had 100 yard rushinggame and a touchdown himself.
If you think of him solely asa running back, that's at 5,900 who
(17:09):
could get you 80 yards and atouchdown and then he can pass the
ball and get those passingyards on top of it and hopefully
one passing touchdown to justbuild on that running baseline.
It's just cheating and youdon't have to stack them.
You can just get those 20 to25 points.
What about Jonathan Taylor?
7900.
Can he do 42 points again?
(17:30):
I think he can, but he hasn'tbeen showing up in a lot of my lineups.
I think that it wasexceptional last week's performance,
but we haven't seen thosebreakaway runs too often and I think
maybe the Colts offensive lineis starting to figure it out.
Like he was untouched on thatsecond breakaway run so maybe that
blocking is just going to getbetter for the last couple weeks
(17:52):
but I would lean that he has agreat day but not that true203 we
saw last week.
And then there's Tyrone Tracy, the running back for the Giants.
Colts gave up two touchdownsto Tajie Spears last week when they
almost let the Titans comeback in that game.
Yeah, I actually like Trazy.
He's going to be heavilyinvolved and we know that these rookies
(18:16):
are still motivated.
They have not shown it yet andthis is a bad Giants team that is
going to go back to thedrawing board in the draft season.
Being able to stand out herefor Tracy is important and 55.8 is
not a bad price against a badColts defense.
Well, we got three games leftall of which have at least one 3
and 12 team.
(18:36):
Let's chat Tennessee atJacksonville where both of them are
3 and 12.
Tennessee is favored by 1 andthe over under is 39.5.
Yeah the last time these twoteams played in week 14 it was Jacksonville
10 winning 10 to 6.
Yeah that was a gross game.
I honestly think it's going tohelp that we're not seeing Will Levis
(19:00):
in this game like we saw lasttime in this matchup.
Mason Rudolph at least wasable to kind of stabilize.
He threw three interceptionshimself last last game but at least
the offense was a little bitmore stable and moving the ball.
I think there's a lot ofpeople playing for their jobs here
and especially with two backupquarterbacks that want to showcase
that they can still do thatand be reliable options to get future
(19:22):
contracts for Mac Jones andMason Rudolph.
I like the number one optionsthat those backup backups are just
going to hyper target thepeople they need to for Ridley and
Brian Thomas Jr.
Just get it in the hands ofyour playmakers and make help make
you look good.
Yeah I think that's all that Icould support from this game is Brian
(19:45):
Thomas Jr.
Or maybe Calvin Ridley.
Other than that I don't reallywant any parts of it.
No Tony Pollard.
No Tony Pollard.
So I think I'm leaning awayfrom him.
Bigsby is kind of interesting.
He got almost all the worklast week and this was this Tennessee
Titans defense was justdecimated on the ground.
(20:06):
But just a note on BrianThomas Jr.
And how good he's been is hehas not had a game below 75 yards
or 16 and a half DraftKingspoints since that bye week and back
to back 30 point weeks.
He is getting that workloadsupported by Mac Jones and I I think
he's a great play at 6 8k.
Yeah, I agree.
He is.
I can't wait to see him with areal quarterback.
(20:28):
Yeah, he should be fun.
Let's chat the Raiders at NewOrleans, where the Raiders are favored
by 1 1/2 over under is 37.5.
Are y'all grabbing anyone fromthis game?
Nah.
Bowers.
That's like it.
Yeah.
In case of emergency, breakglass and get Brock.
Bowers probably lead tightends of the slate for targets.
(20:51):
And he does have a shot to notjust break the.
Not break a rookie record, butbreak the NFL record for receptions
by a tight end in a season, which is.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Andy's a Rookie.
He is 16 behind that recordand he had 11 catches last week.
So if he can keep that up,he's on pace to beat it.
(21:14):
And I think this is a goodspot to just showcase him.
But besides that, I don'tthink New Orleans is going to put
up any fight.
We saw how inept they lookedlast week.
They just don't have anyone left.
Let's talk about our lastgame, Miami at Cleveland, where Miami
is favored by six and a halfover under is 40.
(21:34):
This is also an outdoor gameagain in Cleveland.
Are they.
Is Cleveland going to putWinston back in?
I know we were kind of justtalking about how Winston's more
fun to watch in DTR through interceptions.
No, they're not going to giveus Winston back.
No.
Miami, like we werementioning, their playoff hopes do
(21:56):
depend on what happens in thatDenver and Cincinnati game.
But if they are motivated andthey're still trying to make the
playoffs.
I really like Tyreek Hill forhis price.
The rest of that team's banged up.
If you look at that game inthe wide receivers, every.
It's about every single passcatcher has a little red injury designation
next to them.
But I really like him andAchan coming through.
(22:17):
If they need a big game.
I like Achan.
But Miami and Cleveland at theend of December, what could go wrong?
Maybe we should take theBrowns defense.
It is supposed to be 50degrees, but it's going to be raining.
Yeah, it's true.
I like both defenses in this game.
Well, let's build a lineup.
(22:39):
What are the stacks y'all aregoing back to?
I know we talked a little bitYoung, we talked a little bit Darnold,
we talked a little bit Baker,Anthony Richards, but I don't think
you wanted any of the passcatchers from that game.
I don't have a stack that Ihave to have.
I have players that Iparticularly like, but this is Not
(23:01):
a slate that I feel that Ihave to stack.
Yeah, I agree.
I'm definitely not paying upfor any of the options.
So, Allen, we talked about, they're not really playing for anything
and Jalen hurts.
We don't even know if he'sgoing to play.
Then we.
The third highest is Baker andI think I'd rather just have the
other side of the ball andsave some money with Bryce Young.
(23:24):
I'm in on Bryce Young.
Who are we going to take achance and stack him with on the
other side?
I do want to lock in Evans.
I think let's lock in Mike Evans.
So targeted.
I think we should play BryceYoung with Coker if you want to play
with somebody.
(23:44):
Since this is going to be ourtournament lineup, I would take a
chance more on Coker to bemore explosive than Thielen.
Yeah.
And one note with that isLeggette is returning this week.
He is.
Well, we could just play Youngby himself and not go here.
Let's.
Let's leave it out.
Let's go to running backs.
(24:05):
Who are we going to pay for atrunning back if we really want.
To invest it and go fully intothis game?
I'd say Bucky at 6.7.
I love Bucky.
I think he's just a smash play.
I.
Yeah, let's put Bucky's in there.
I'm not seeing anyone that Ilove going down the list, so I kind
of want to pay up.
And I would pay up probablyfor Jonathan Taylor.
(24:29):
I would agree.
All right, so now we got andgoing back Taylor in there.
Tampa Bay game.
One person we've talked aboutpreviously is Cade Otten for that
tight end role, but I don'tthink we're talking about it.
We didn't talk about himearlier in this episode.
We've been seeing hisproduction decline, haven't we?
We have been seeing hisproduction really decline, especially
(24:50):
as Jaylen McMillan has come up.
Yeah, it seemed kind of in aset as the rookie wide receiver was
settling into Place.
But McMillan has stepped uprecently, so leading us into tight
ends.
There isn't too many optionsthat I've seen here.
I like either paying up forBowers or Janu or falling into that
(25:11):
next range and looking atOkonkwo or Hawkinson.
I love Okonkwo here.
If we look at the game logsfor Okonkwo, he last week had 11
targets and the week beforethat 10 targets.
So these were very competitive games.
But if we buy into this isgoing to be a competitive game and
(25:32):
they are Going to be passing.
I think he's definitely goingto be in the mix here and he saves
us a lot of money.
He is down at 3600 versuspaying up for Bowers at 6700.
Well then I like going toconquo in this spot especially that
we'll put him in there.
Defense has not stopped anyone all season long.
(25:55):
So we're still kind of slim here.
An average of 4600.
Let's see.
Let's lock in a defense andwe'll start at the bottom and go
the cheapest that we can, which is the Jets.
It's an interesting thought.
And then the Browns are at 2400.
I do like the Browns.
Who else do you like on thislist or do you want to go with one
(26:17):
of them?
The defenses really matter tome, their motivation.
I think I'm very interested inthe very cheap options.
If there's nothing to play for.
If there's nothing to play forin that Miami game then why not take
a shot in that Clevelanddefense in a rainy game at home.
Let's do it.
(26:37):
2,400 for the Browns defensethat helped us.
We're up to 5,400 average andwe have three players left, two wide
receivers and a flex.
So we are looking at somecheaper options now at wide receiver.
The only wide receiver we'velocked in is Mike Evans.
The one that comes to mind isBrian Thomas Jr.
For the the Jaguars.
(26:58):
I feel like he's verydependable but I don't know that
he's that explosive.
What is his price?
I like Brian Thomas Jr.
It kind of create like alittle mini stack in that game with
Okonkwo and we saw thatactually work out a couple times
in Jacksonville.
We saw Devonte Adams and BrianThomas Jr.
Be a couple key pieces.
So I like that little mini correlation.
(27:19):
So do you like Brian Thomas Jr.
Better than Jordan Addison?
I would say so.
I'm heavily in on Jeffersonthis week.
Okay.
Or even Hawkinson and it kindof spreading out.
We need two more and we're.
We're looking in the cheaper ones.
Pass catching options forBryce Young.
(27:41):
If he's going to be thatquarterback that we need I would
be comfortable locking ineither Leggett or Coker and getting
that high upside play.
Let me filter on them.
So Leggett is 4400 and Cokeris 4300.
It's really a toss up.
I don't really know whatLeggett's status is.
If he is expected.
(28:01):
He's just he was limited Thursday.
Let's go, Coker.
Let's just go.
The safer option right now onfilming this on Thursday.
So now we're left at 5200.
We'll get off the Carolinaplayers and we need a flex.
We could take our dart throwwith Romeo Dobbs and get a piece
(28:22):
of that game in the dome.
We can do that.
