(00:01):
Welcome to fangirl football.
I'm Judy.
And I'm Lauren.
Week 16 is entirely done.
So now we're on to week 17.
The Turner Tet round Time hereis really, really quick from Monday
night to Wednesday.
So we have our first versionof the start sit today where we're
going to talk about theWednesday Christmas Day games and
(00:22):
Thursday night and then we'llbe back on Friday with more sit start
advice for the rest of your weekend.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Sounds good.
Yeah.
We've got three games then twoon Wednesday, one on Thursday.
We get to discuss the samefour teams that played last Saturday.
Again, it seems like we'retalking about these four teams a
lot, although we mixed up whothey're playing and where they're
(00:44):
playing at.
We're going to kick it offwith Kansas City at Pittsburgh.
Kansas City's favor, two bytwo and a half points over under
is 43 and a half.
This game be competitive?
I think it will be becauseboth teams have a big reason to be
playing.
So the Chiefs can lock up theAFC and get the bye week with that
(01:07):
top spot with a win and thencruise into next week and not have
to worry about it.
And the Steelers are stillfighting for their division with
Baltimore, so they haven'tlocked in that division.
They're leading it right now,but they need to keep winning to
stay on top of that division.
And Baltimore is going to bein the next game that we talk about.
(01:29):
So Baltimore's going to knowif the Steelers won or not.
How's this game going to play out?
So cornerback Joey Porter maybe out for the Steelers, which would
help the passing game for the Chiefs.
Pickens is set to return forthe Steelers as well.
He's missed three games with ahamstring injury, but he's fully
(01:52):
practiced and is expected toplay on Wednesday, which is really,
really good news for theSteelers because they've had a really
rough time losing two ofthree, two of the last three games
that he was out.
They need Pickens in thatlineup to give Russell Wilson that
strong target and to free upother wide receivers on the field.
(02:14):
Yeah, they definitely lookedvery different this last weekend.
We saw Baltimore at Pittsburghor Baltimore and Pittsburgh play
before Thanksgiving and thatwas a very low scoring game.
That kind of surprised me.
It was only in field goals.
And then this past weekend itwas a completely different story
that we saw.
So definitely interested tosee how this shakes up for Pittsburgh
(02:37):
and which team shows up.
Yeah, this is going to be aninteresting matchup.
Both of these teams are strongagainst the run.
Chiefs are ranking third inrushing yards allowed and the Steelers
are ranking eighth in rushingyards allowed.
So both teams should beturning more to the passing game
where both teams are allowinga little bit more on the passing
(02:58):
side of the ball than therunning back side.
Also on the running back side, neither one of these teams are super
strong on their run game andyou're going to be sitting all of
the running backs I would feelin this matchup.
So we've got Isaiah Pacheco,Cream Hunt for the Chiefs.
They're sharing their time.
Pacheco hasn't looked strongsince he returned from the breaking
(03:20):
his leg and Cream Hunt'seating into his time.
Combining that with theSteelers aren't really giving it
up to the run.
I don't like the running backsituation and for the Steelers it's
kind of the same situation.
We've got Jalen Warren and NigHarris that are in a total share.
Toss in some Cordell Pattersonthere at the goal line and you don't
(03:41):
have a strong running back andyou've got a bad matchup against
the run as well.
So no one looks particularlygood running the ball in this game.
Yeah, I think Najee Harris hasseen a 50% decline in snap count
alone in the last two weekscompared to prior to the it compared
to earlier in the season.
(04:01):
So I definitely feel likethat's a pretty safe sit for me.
So let's talk about thequarterbacks in this matchup.
We have Patrick Mahomes who'sbeen battling that ankle injury,
but he played last week, he'shad more days of rest.
You know he's going to play inthis matchup as well.
And then we have RussellWilson who didn't look good last
weekend in that start, buthe's getting his wide receiver back.
(04:25):
Hopefully Russell Wilson isgoing to be a stronger player in
this game with all of his widereceivers there.
And Patrick Mahomes gets thatbetter matchup with the cornerback
out.
The problem with the receiversfor the Chiefs is it's getting a
little bit like Green Bay andnow we've got everyone back.
We got Hollywood Brown backand they threw him right back into
(04:46):
the mix with five of eight, catching five of eight targets last
weekend.
And Xavier Worthy is there aswell and he left briefly with an
ankle injury but he practiced.
He returned to that game as well.
He, he did come back andfinish it.
So the receiving group islooking pretty healthy and in line
(05:07):
to you.
Just don't know which one it'sgoing to be in this matchup.
Well, because they even liketo to throw in their tight end on
the Kansas City.
They do.
I mean, you got Kelsey there, so.
And Kelsey's probably myfavorite play.
If you were going to startsomebody in this game, it's going
to be the tight ends.
I feel like this is acompetitive matchup and when we see
(05:28):
a lot of the competitivematchups, we see a lot of checking
down and that would be to thetight ends particularly.
So both tight ends, TravisKelce and Pat Friarmuth are great
plays that I would be startingin this game.
As far as the other widereceivers, yes, I'm starting George
Pickens because he is clearlya favorite of Russell Wilson.
(05:49):
You can't not start GeorgePickens after that.
I think I'd look for bettermatchups if I could.
Well, let's continue on toBaltimore at Houston where Baltimore
is favored by four and theover under is 47.
So a bit more higher scoringgame that Vegas predicts.
I'm a little surprised by this.
With Tank Dell gone and we'veseen how Houston has just struggled
(06:14):
this year.
CJ Stroud just hasn't beenhitting the points we kind of expected
from him for fantasy production.
He definitely hasn't.
This game and that over underI think are being driven by the fact
that the Ravens are ranked31st in passing yards allowed.
I don't think we realize wedon't connect that the Ravens are
(06:34):
really strong and you don'tthink of that with a really strong
team that is doing so well.
But yeah, they ranked 31st inpassing yards allowed.
So maybe C.J.
stroud finally has his gameand we get that back and forth game.
The problem is Tank Dell is gone.
So who are the wide receiversgoing to be beyond Nico Collins?
(06:54):
Nico Collins can't be the onlywide receiver there.
He needs somebody else to takeoff some of that coverage.
Luckily it looks like Mechieis going to play in this matchup.
He did practice and hopefullyJohn Mechie will be on the field
for the Texans and they canget that passing game rolling.
Obviously you Nico Collins gotyou in here.
(07:17):
If you're still playing for achampionship, you've got to start
Nico Collins.
Even if you're playing foryour toilet bowl or consolation bracket,
you're going to play your Nico Collins.
He's too strong of a playernot to play.
And we can list some Baltimoreno brainers as well.
Derek Henry, Lamar Jackson, they're both no brainer starts.
(07:39):
Baltimore's still battlingPittsburgh for that division, so
they really need this game andthe Texans aren't really playing
for much.
They've won their division there.
They can battle a little bitfor seating, but that just matters
who you may play and theyaren't going to know that.
There's not a lot on the linefor the Texans here.
(07:59):
They can't really advance andgain anything in this matchup with
Tank Del gone.
And Baltimore being weakagainst passing yards.
What do you think about DaltonSchultz, the Houston tight end?
Good game.
I love Dalton Schultz.
Yeah, we saw last week whenTank Dell went out that Dalton Schultz
(08:20):
stepped in and took a lot ofthe extra targets for the team and
I think he'll be picking upmore targets.
He knows the offense, so theywill bring in another wide receiver.
But to try to get somebody upto speed in time is is difficult
on the short week.
So they're going to be turningto the players that already know
(08:41):
the system.
John Mechi does, and so havinghim in there does bring in some help
for the team.
But I still think they'regoing to turn more to Dalton Schultz
as well as Joe Mixon is nothaving a good matchup for the second
week in a row and Mixon justhasn't been looking good.
(09:03):
Last week he was only wortheight PPR points.
They're definitely turning tothe passing game more than the running
game because they can't get itrestarted and the Ravens are allowing
the fewest rushing yards.
So Mixon is getting a really, really bad matchup.
The Ravens are on oppositeends on their defense.
(09:24):
They're, they're the best atstopping the rush and one of the
worst at stopping the pass.
So kind of summarizing ourcautious starts and probably sits
there.
Zay Flowers is a cautiousstart, Rashad Bateman a cautious
start, and Mark Andrews acautious start.
And then we, we would say sitJoe Mixon and CJ Stroud.
Hopefully you have someonebetter you can play later in the
(09:47):
week.
Definitely C.J.
stroud's a little bit of arisk I may play him if I wasn't playing
for a championship.
I'm pretty sure you're notplaying your championship with CG
Stroud, but if you are, dropus a note.
Let me know that you are.
Cause I'm really curious howyou got in your championship with
CJ Stroud, but you probablyhad some really, really strong running
(10:08):
backs.
In one of my leagues where I'mheading to the championship it is.
I have Derek Henry and I'mplaying against the person with Saquon
Barkley.
And I'm curious how Many otherleagues are ending their championship
the same way with Barkleyversus Henry.
Well, let's chat Seattle atChicago where Seattle's favored by
(10:28):
3 1/2 and the over under is 43.5.
This one is our Thursday night game.
We have a couple ofquestionables on the Seattle side.
Walker with that ankle injury.
He did not practice on Mondayand then Zach Charbonnet was limited
at practice on Monday withthat elbow injury.
That's the two running backsfor Seattle.
(10:51):
I'm hoping both of them arehealthy by Thursday because we're
recording this Tuesday midday.
So it's not looking.
Yeah, it's not looking goodfor Kenneth Walker, but I feel like
it's looking better for ZachCharbonnet to play in this game.
And The Bears ranked 26th inrushing yards allowed.
So the big question comes isanybody healthy enough to take advantage
(11:13):
of it or not?
We'll see if Shar Charbonnetcan step in there.
It's also predicted to beraining for this game, so you know
they're going to want to runthat ball a little bit more in those
wet conditions.
The Bears were trying to keepit competitive with the Lions last
week.
Fantasy wise it was one of theBears best weeks with Kenan Allen
(11:34):
hitting 32 points and CalebWilliams at 27 points.
Passing wise both defenses aremid pack against the pass, so that's
a pretty decent matchupagainst the pass.
Geno smith had his second bestday last week and scored 26 fantasy
points and the Bears runningoffense is gone be since week 12.
(11:57):
DeAndre Swift hasn't broken 10points so it doesn't look like the
Bears are very good at runningthe ball.
Hopefully the SeahawksSeahawks can stop them.
I feel like this is going tocome down to more of a little bit
of a shootout, but maybe itwon't because of that rain and it's
a Thursday night.
Thursday nights seem to end upin nine to six scores, but hopefully
(12:20):
that's not what we get onThursday night.
Feel like your must starts arethe the players that have been carrying
both of these teams which areJackson, Smith, Najigba and Keenan
Allen.
Fantasy wise those two playersI'm starting without hesitation.
Zach Charbonnet I also like aslong as he's healthy and if he's
not healthy I haven't dugthrough the running backs but I'm
(12:42):
not going to go picking uprunning backs at this point in my
championship.
How do you feel about Geno Smith?
I think this could be a reallygood matchup for him.
I think the one concern I haveis that rain and if they're going
to end up leaning on more of arushing side just because it gets
so rainy.
Otherwise I think this wouldbe a great matchup for Geno Smith
(13:03):
paired especially with JSN and dk.
Yeah, DK got a touchdown last week.
He's coming back a little bit.
I think this is a good one forCaleb Williams as well, being at
home in this matchup to maybehave another good showing.
I'm sitting DeAndre Swift though.
Yeah, hopefully you can findsomeone fun.
(13:26):
Find someone better if youneed to or you probably have someone
better.
Well tho those are our threegames for early week.
We'll be back on Friday tochat Saturday, Sunday, Monday football
