We finally learn about Jennifer Blake's backstory—her history with Kali of the Alpha Pack, her past as an Emissary, and the sacrifices she's made to seek her revenge.

Unfortunately, we end the episode on Jennifer's next pick for a sacrifice and the decisions the pack will make to ensure they get home safely.

So I, I feel like the top of theroller coaster was like, and the
last episode where Lydia got almost murdered by Jennifer
Blake and like the sheriff had kidnapped and now we're just
like, whoosh. Now we're whooshing down to the
Denu Mall. We're just, we're just whooshing
down. We're going loop the loops.
I'm just, you know. Yeah, I mean, we got reveals, we

have fight scenes. I mean this is this episode is
just an action movie. Yeah, it's an action movie, but
we got to make it a little gay and I love that.
For us, it's a it's. A little gay, it's a little
silly, and I liked it. It's amazing.
I one of the things that just really, I forget because in
early seasons the hospital is such like a nice scary place,

but in season 3 it gets this like the emergency lighting that
like blue-green overtone. And it.
And it'll keep that blue-green overtone forever.
And I'm just like, oh, it's Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital.
It's haunted. I was thinking like, who is
going to fix the hospital? No one, no one, no one fixes the
hospital. Does the hospital become like
the next abandoned location where future fight scenes

happen? I don't even think it gets
abandoned. It's just a fight.
It's just a location where future fight scenes happen.
There's. Too much that happens with the
shoddy electric work in this. Hospital.
It's the other Beacon Hills Seattle Memorial Grace.
Yes, the Beacon Hills Seattle Memorial Grace Hospital.
Terrible things happen here constantly.

Constantly. So The Rundown is trapped inside
and evacuated Seattle Beacon Hills Hospital by a powerful
storm. Scott and Derek must defend
themselves against the Alphas while trying to figure out how
to save Cora's life. This episode aired August 5th,
2013. So we have a dark and stormy
night classic. The last, what, 6 episodes of

(02:25):
Teen Wolf have just been dark and stormy nights.
Yes, they've all been dark and stormy.
And we think it's because the Dirac is like dark and stormy
and she's like getting her stufftogether.
But really I just think they like the power lighting.
Everyone got to get soaking wet in the rain in this episode, and
we all love a wet, you know, scraggly hero.
Like, I don't know. The we there was a whole thing
in the fandom about the the the T the crew trying to make Styles

Dylan O'Brien not look as powerful and like strong as the
werewolves. Right.
Because he's like the human and 147 lbs of sarcasm.
Except then they keep getting him wet and that all goes away.
And then there's like, the arms and the ABS and the shoulders,
and you're like, Oh, yeah, this is like a regular kind of like

Hollywood young adult man who's who can probably bench press.
OK. Then you're like, this is a man
with, like, big old hands holding a bat with like, a wet
T-shirt contest. You're like, oh, yeah, they're
all the same. These are all Hollywood men.
Yeah, they're all, they're all guys who all take protein
shakes. They all work out a lot.
This is this is their job. This is their job.

(03:35):
Like thank you for playing. They're all ripped.
Yes, exactly. There's they're all the same.
They're all ripped, even the nonwerewolves.
Yeah, but thank you for trying. I do love seeing Missus McCall
taking control of her hospital. Because we know that if Eddie,
you know who you going to call Mama McCall, this is the answer.
She is, she's in charge. She's just completely in charge.

(03:58):
None of this like nurse, doctor,none of that, none of that
stuff. Mama McCall is in charge.
She's being the best. She's getting her hospital
evacuated. She is taking care of her
patients. We love her.
I don't even know that this is her job and she's just like I'm
doing it. It's one of those things it's,
it's kind of like Scott, it's like, well, no one else is
stepping up to do it and it's gotta get done.
So like, might as well do it, right?

(04:20):
He learned that from his Mama. Yeah, he did.
Certainly not his dad. So they're evacuating the
hospital because it's a raging storm.
They've they're marking red XS on the the rooms that are being
fully evacuated. Another town called Hill Valley
is under flood watch. There is an editor's note that
Hill Valley is the name of the town that is the setting to Back

(04:42):
to the Future. Fantastic.
So that, you know, fun. Oh, and an editor's note from
me. I don't know that this is
intentional, and I don't think it is, but the title of the
episode is the overlooked that will come into play later with
monologuing. However, the Overlook Hotel is

(05:03):
the name of the hotel in The Shining.
Yes, and they get snowed in during a powerful storm.
And the team here is about to get rained in during a powerful
storm. And there's a lot of flashy
green lights in in that hotel also.
A lot of spooky hallways. There are twins.
Spooky twins. Spooky twins.

(05:24):
There's an elevator that spews blood in The Shining.
I don't know whatever, so I'm just saying.
The elevator doesn't spew blood,but like it could.
It very much could have had something on differently, so I
just thought that was interesting.
Whether or not it was purposeful, I don't know.
I just liked it. I like it.
I like it. So Core Hale, still sick, still

(05:44):
vomiting blood. She needs to get out of there.
Peter is the one now, wiping herfurrowed brow.
Since when did Peter Hale becomelike a trust, trustworthy family
member? Peter Hale.
I don't know, my note was here. Like, he actually kind of seems
concerned. Uncle being the best uncle ever.
Question mark He. Was like, I didn't know he knew
that feel. Like he has, he is, he is

caring, he is concerned. He seems to be fond of Cora in
this moment, you know, advocating for her.
I just like what? Yeah, is someone gonna take care
of my niece? Like, oh, you remembered your
family. You remembered that she's
important. You remember that?
Oh. Oh, OK.
I I don't know. This is also the first time that
Melissa sees Peter since he died.

(06:28):
Since he died. Like so she went on a weird
blind date with him that he set up like a like almost a year
ago. Well, last semester and
everyone's like he's dead and not anymore.
He used to be dead. You know, I get that a lot.
Yep, and she just has to move and I like that he tried to
sneak into the shadows like he was going to not be there.

(06:52):
Does the. Moon walk away from his problems
like Derek, like Doopa doopa Doopa do.
Yeah, but the poor Missus McCalldoes not have time to deal with
this shit because there is too much going on.
But she does take it rather well.
Like she she knows werewolves can't.
Like she's just gonna have to take this in stride, so we have
to go to the loft. No, but we have to cause Cora.

(07:14):
Cora is still and. Cora Cora's she.
Just like she just hurls over the side of the bed.
It's that awful black stuff thatlike Eric was throwing up in
season 1, but Cora's has mistletoe in it.
Yes. Why?
What in the plot armor is poisoning cornhale?

(07:36):
What, what, what? How did it get there?
How did it get that Cora wouldn't have eaten mistletoe?
No, I don't even know how it gotinto the pianist.
How did it get into Danny? How did How did?
Who is eating mistletoe? It had to.
Like is there like some sort of bake sale is like the Dirac like
sneaking in like secret cupcakesinto like what is happening?

(07:59):
So when in in a minute, we're gonna see what Scott does.
But like, can it, can it really just be like stirred into a
smoothie? Like, was it in the air?
I don't know but it comes out aslike full on berries.
I know I I don't. How did Cora get mistletoe under
her system? I don't know.

(08:19):
You'd think she'd smell it and be like, I don't want that.
It's dangerous. You would think Cora pays
attention. She's not dumb.
She survived the Andes wherever the fuck she was.
Yeah. I don't know, but it's important
because Cora is now not only throwing up black stuff, but she
is throwing up mistletoe, which is not a good sign, not a good
prelude. She's not happy.

(08:41):
Yeah. So in the loft.
Oh, the loft. Jennifer playing victim has come
running to the loft looking for Derek and she is like you cannot
believe Scott and Styles about what happened at the school.
It's not true. They're telling you lies.
Which does mean that she knows how close they all are, that she

(09:04):
name drops Scott and Styles directly to Derek about who
would be telling him about what happened.
Yeah. And.
She like, she like, runs into Derek's arms and starts kissing
him. And it's just like ma'am, ma'am.
Eyes open too. Yeah, she like, she like it
very, very much. A shining moment.

(09:25):
Just, you know, all in the groove space.
And then just like re re re. Then she's like, they're already
here, aren't they? And immediately turns.
It's a big kudos to this actressbecause her entire personality
shifts in that line. Sure does, yeah.
The real Jennifer Blake emerges.Then the real Jennifer Blake

(09:46):
emerges and she realizes they are already here and Derek has
already gotten the entire lowdown from Scott and Styles.
Yep, they sure did. And the fucking tears in style
lies. It his line reading of Where's
My Dad? The absolute worst.
Ouch, Ouch. It hurts so much every time and

(10:08):
like, you know it's coming and it hurts.
Yeah, you know it's coming and it still hurts.
And, and like the back and forthof like, where's my dad?
And and Jennifer's like Derek, tell me you don't believe this.
And he's just staring at Styles and Scott for like a a beat.
And then his question is, do youknow what happened to Styles's
father? Like not the sacrifices, not

(10:30):
Lydia, not but like, what's up with my father-in-law?
Yeah. Do you, do you know what
happened to my father-in-law? Do you, do you know what
happened to him? Because none of us even know
what happened to him. He gone and also they watched
him yeet. The sheriff out the window.
Yeah, for sure. Can.

(10:50):
OK, Ken, Derek not hear changes in Jennifer's heartbeat or is
she just able to control that? I think in this moment, like I,
I, I, it would not surprise me if she could control her
heartbeat, if she like had some sort of super secret masking,
whatever, because in they shouldall be able to smell her like

(11:11):
they should like if she showed up some place like she, they
would have been able to smell her.
So there's probably some maskinggoing on with her whole like
face bodies shenanigan. But like, I in this moment think
especially after this, because Derek is going through like a
bazillion feelings. And frankly, very little of them

(11:32):
have to do with Scott and Styles.
Yeah, like Scott and Styles are the the the impetus to the plot
line of like Jennifer Blake, badguy missing father.
What are we doing? But like, Derek is get it.
He got the load out from Scott and Styles.
They already know that Jennifer is the Dirac because Scott was
there and Stiles was there. And so Derek is having to

(11:55):
reconcile with the fact that yetanother woman is using him and
manipulating him in order to hurt people, and he is trying to
reconcile that. And like, who am I trusting?
Who am I not trusting? Second chance to What's going
on? You you stop trusting crazy

(12:16):
women not. To be that person so.
Not to be like misogynist on theradio here, but it is the show
only giving Derek love interest.Well, it's hard to call Kate a
love interest because she is actively a predator.
Yeah. And in a way, so is Jennifer,

(12:37):
because she targets him. She literally physically targets
him. Yes and and like plays him all
the way through yes, this port like.
Yes. I know we ship Derek Styles, and
for very good reasons, but also like for the plot.
Can't you give this man a love interest who isn't actively
trying to ruin absolutely everything?

(12:58):
And eventually they get there, but like, they're not there yet.
Damn it, like you're really making it hard to like female
characters on this show sometimes.
Yes. And that's, and that's kind of
the other problem that we'll runinto is that you get.
Honestly, it is and it. Is because like, and we'll talk
about this next season and I'm really interested to see 'cause

(13:19):
next season is 3B when we get Kira and Malia.
I am really interested to see like what your thoughts are on
Malia Tate this far out. Oh, sure.
Yeah, yeah. As you know, yeah, it yes, I get
your point. I know like.
Yeah, I know, I know. But it's like you see these

(13:39):
people like it's one of the big reasons we struggle with Cora.
It's like I I want so badly to love Cora, but Cora is only
there to be a replacement for Erica.
Yes. And then you just like swap her
out and then you'll bring Malia in as a as a filler for Cora.
Supernatural has this problem too, where you're like, you

(14:01):
can't make female characters replaceable and expect the
fandom to love them. The way you dedicate pages and
pages and pages and hours of screen time to the male
characters and then be like, howcome?
How come the fandom doesn't lovethe female characters the same
way? Like because you don't.
Because you don't. You, the writer, the director,

(14:22):
the screenwriters. You don't love your female
characters the same way. So so they don't translate the
same way. Erica stuck because she's so
fucking tragic. And Allison and Lydia are there
long enough and have enough gutsbehind them to matter.
Yeah, and even then they try to replace Allison with Kira.

(14:44):
Yeah, with Kira, you can't just swap women like they're paper
dolls and think the fandom's gonna be like, OK, great,
another woman. Like no, no, no, we're not
replaceable as no, as the femaleaudience.
And not to say that everyone is female presenting or female
identifying. That's not the point.
But like you, no. It's it.

(15:07):
No, Sir. And it's like, it's so
eventually in Season 5, we're going to get another, another
new kid. So you get what's called the
puppy pack, and you meet this kid named Liam.
And Liam is a like, young, strong lacrosse player.
He's very much kind of like a different flavor of Jackson
Whittemore. And he in his, like, you know,

(15:29):
Journey never once tries to replace Jackson or tries to
replace Scott. Oh, so they're just capable of
writing it better? They're just capable of giving
us a new kid. Great.
Yeah. And it's, it's so clear and it
just drives me. It drives me banana nut muffins.
But in any case, Derek is so incredibly soft for Scott and

(15:51):
Styles, both of Scott and Styles, because he's like
looking back at Scott and Stylesgoing like, I trust Scott and
Scott trusts Styles, I trust Styles.
And you know, like Styles trustsme and we all trust each other.
This is more important. And he makes the choice.
Yeah, yes. And he has to be doing some

(16:14):
calculations of of where has Jennifer been?
And I don't know her that well, and I haven't known her that
long, and I've known these two fuckwads a little.
Longer, a little longer. And we, you know, they've earned
it. Yeah, and.
They could. Have it did happen to?
Stuff. Yeah.
And then they ask her to tell Derek what happened or what she

(16:36):
did to Lydia. And it's just too much.
And so Scott also has a jar of mistletoe.
And Deaton has told him that it is both a poison and a cure.
And and the mistletoe that he has, though, is like ground up
into an incredibly fat, foul, fine powder.
And he hurls that into the air. And the, the the mistletoe has

(16:57):
to be magic, right? Because it like it, it attacks
Jennifer, only it like swirls around her and doesn't go for
Derek at all. Which could have been really
bad, yeah, but it forces her briefly to change her face into
the Dirac. Not that I don't love Scott in
this moment, but weird. Styles his job.

(17:18):
Scott styles his job. Magic styles his fucking job.
I know I was a little pissed. The magic is Styles's job, God
damn it. You let him be magic.
You let him. That is literally Styles's job.
Yeah, and so the spooky scary monster.
And Derek finally sees the scarymonster with his own face.
And again, he just, I think, I think I'm projecting on him, of

(17:40):
course, but I think like he is once again being confronted
front and center with like, oh, you let a monster into your bed
again, again. Because he then proceeds to get
very violent towards her, which like in in a confined fictional
setting I love in any kind of real relationship of any kind,

(18:03):
this is very bad, Bad Derek. Yeah.
No. No choking.
No choking, no like complete, like right on a dime, like flip
a switch kind of anger, kind of violence, like absolutely not.
But in a very small confined space that this is ATV show and
everybody's fictional etcetera, etcetera.
It was great and I loved it. Yes, and and I mean she is now a

(18:27):
bad guy. Yeah, and all signs point to her
having poisoned Kora. Yes, and of course she's now
like I'm the only one who can save Cora of.
Course you are. And you know what?
I would just, Derek's definitelytrying to kill her, and he's
trying to talk himself out of killing her in this moment, he
really is. It really is.

(18:47):
And it takes both Styles and Scott being like stop, stop,
stop Derek, stop. Yeah, it takes them both and
it's I think they need her to save both Cora and the Sheriff.
I think he would have ripped herhead off if it had been for.
Absolutely for the for the boys,absolutely.
He would have just ripped her inhalf.

(19:08):
And it's interesting because shedoesn't.
I mean, OK, I think we know why she doesn't fight, but I don't.
We don't quite know her strengthcapabilities, but can could she
have gotten out of Derek's grip?Probably.
Like what? What is she capable of?
Well, she's capable of a lot nowthat she's killed the Warriors.
Yes, exactly. Because like, that's the whole

(19:28):
thing is that she has been sacrificing people to build her
strength to take on the alphas. So she lets herself get
manhandled. By Yeah, because she thinks that
she can. She can manipulate him out of
it. And she can.
And she hasn't been able to yet,because Derek trusts, you know,

(19:50):
his pack more than he trusts her.
And himself. And himself, yeah, and himself.
He trusts Scott, and he mostly trusts Scott.
Let's be real about it. And enough of Styles that he's
going to let them make the decision for him because he
knows that he's not in the rightframe of mind here.

(20:10):
Nor should he be. No, because my notes, my notes
are just screaming. Derek being manipulated again
with sex again to hurt his family.
Again. Like baby?
I know, do something different with Derek, God damn it.
Yeah, can we stop sexually abusing him pretty please?

(20:31):
That's fucked up. Can we stop it guys?
Yeah, like this doesn't have to be like this doesn't.
Have to be like this. So they're, they're on route, on
route to the hospital. Jennifer's like, I want to help.
Do you? I'm only doing what I have to
do. Derek keeps telling her to shut
up, but it has none of the none of the none of the like the pop

(20:52):
that it does with Styles. It does not, Nope, does not,
which is, you know, it's not thesame.
So and in the Jeep, so Scott andStyles are in the Jeep behind
them and Styles is the one who'slike, this is not right.
Something is off. This is all going to Jennifer's
plan and we're just following itagain.
But like, what are they going todo?

(21:14):
What's the alternative? So I have the spooky scary
hospital and Stiles has got the bat from the Jeep because they
have claws. He has the bat.
Yes, yes he does. RIP to the bat later, though.
Yeah, RIP. He'll get another.
So they run in the Melissa. There are two more ambulances

(21:34):
coming for this evacuation, and Cora has to be on one of those.
And then we get both the worst elevator ride and the funniest.
Oh boy. I love the blocking of this
where on one side Scott is just absolutely glaring murder at
Jennifer and then it pans past her and Styles is behind between

(21:56):
her and Derek behind them duringgripping the bat as if he could
have any effect whatsoever. Right.
It's it's delightful. It's so good.
I also want like why are you taking the elevator?
Just take the stairs. Like the power could go out at
any moment. Seriously.
Like everyone keeps getting intothese elevators as if there's
not a life threatening storm andthe power could go out.

(22:20):
But you know the drama. Unfortunately, the core is gone
from the hospital bed. There is a trail of black blood
and then Peter gets thrown through the door.
Hi Uncle Peter, thanks for beingfunny again.
I know we've got a problem, a big problem, and it's because
the the Alpha twins are there. How long?
Didn't want to see you 2 fuck all Chucks again.

(22:42):
I continue to dislike them like these are.
I get it, they're pawns, but like they have to go to school
with these guys. Yeah, and get their asses kicked
by them. Yeah.
But the twins are there for Jennifer and they're just
beating the shit out of everyoneto get to Jennifer, so that's
fun. Derek and Scott are going to

(23:04):
fight the Super twins. Style sees Cora on the floor.
There was a Steeder moment of tapping Peter on the shoulder
and being like help me. There sure was, like they were
trying to set up Cora and Stylesand what they set up with Styles
and Peter. And they accidentally got a
little moment there. And I'm not mad about it.
Not mad about it. And Jennifer slowly escapes onto

(23:24):
the elevator. Donna.
But we got Kali and Kalian showing up because obviously
they're going to be there for the showdown going after
Jennifer, and Jennifer blasts Kali out of the elevator with
just like a force push. Yeah, just, you know, well, bam.
So that was kind of cool. It was.

(23:45):
It was cool. Did that come from?
Who would that come from? That's just innate power of
being. Probably just innate power,
yeah. Yeah, so just like action-packed
Peters, Carey and Cora, Derek Styles and Scott, they're all
like running through the morgue I think is where they end up.
It kind of look like the morgue,but the morgue in the basement.

(24:06):
And they went. Up.
I don't know. The location of where they are
at any given moment throughout the rest of this episode is
like, it kind of doesn't matter.It really doesn't.
They're on. They're in a hallway, they're in
a garage, they're in an elevator.
It doesn't matter where. Just at some point, some of the
characters are going to be in anelevator, an ambulance, a

(24:27):
hallway or somewhere in between,right?
But yeah, like, and Derek's like, don't stop, don't stop
Styles because reasons. I don't know.
He hesitates as the twins get closer because he's going to hit
them with the bat. And Derek is like calls out his
name, very concerned. Very concerned.

(24:49):
Because Styles trying to go after the twins, Derek and Derek
and Scott can't beat Super Twin,Yeah.
But what else tries? What is Styles going to do?
And he waits behind the door to hit the twins over the head with
the bat, which just explodes. Yeah, that didn't work.
So this is it's very interestingscene because it moves very

(25:10):
quickly. There's some like fun comedic
moments of of style staring at the shattered bat.
Yeah. But Derek is the one to like,
turn 1st and move towards him togo help.
Yeah. And all of these are choices by
the editor. Yes, they're all choices by the
editor. Like of like what?
What shot to use? Yeah.
So like, I don't know man, it's all choices.

(25:33):
All choices it doesn't like. At the end of the day, sometimes
the document is in fact Canon. Yes, Yes, it is.
Yeah. There's a very cool transition
here, though, because Scott Derek helped Scott launch up to
the ceiling to smash a light into the twins, and that
transitions to the high school hallway.
Do we? Oh no, we don't learn about this

(25:55):
just yet. OK, my bad.
That was a note that that I willsay again here in a little bit.
Yes. I got really excited about
calling the Calling and JenniferFight in the elevator.
Not. Quite.
Yeah, we'll talk about it later.Because first we just have to
have like a real quick aside of Allison with her great hair and
jacket. Yes, and her father adopting

Isaac Leahy. Yes, this is when Chris Argent
decides to take in Isaac. Amazing.
Perfect. I love this for them.
Congratulations. So they're going to, they're
going to take Lydia to 1, they're going to make like a two
stop. They're going to take Lydia to a
different hospital, but then go to the Beacon Hills hospital to
go get Cora and Chris is going to drive them and.
Chris is going to drive them. Because he wasn't going to send
Isaac out alone in the rain. Yeah, because Chris has decided

(26:40):
that maybe murdering a lot of teenagers is not the best idea.
No, and said he's gonna start adopting them.
They're all gonna come live in his Chateau in France in.
France with Erica and Boyd. Yeah, 'cause Erica and Boyd are
already there. Yeah, it's delightful.
But this is when now back at thehospital that Melissa runs into

Kalian and Kali and she's like, you're the bad guy.
And. That is, that is correct.
That is correct. An official an official pack

Scott takes off with a a shout of mom and then Styles comes in
behind and like, it's not quite slow MO, but sort of slow MO.

It's a little slow MO. Yeah, a little.
Slow MO and he takes like a longlook at Derek lying.
And then goes to run and and leaves Derek and goes to follow
Scott. Yep, and then the Arjun's just
fuck off without Scott or Styles.
Yeah, well, 'cause it's Isaac and Allison and Cora and Peter
and Chris and they're all in thecar.

They have to run away. They got to get Cora out of
there. Scott gets to the roof where
Dekalian is waiting, and he's like, bro, I could have warned
you about the guardian thing. Let's help each other here.
You help me catch her. I help you get your mother in
Styles's father back. Because guardians equals
parents. The last sacrifices are parents.

And then Styles gets to the roofand he's like, Scott, don't
fucking do this. We always have a Plan B.
And I don't know about you, but I was like, this is just an echo
of that scene from Motel California.
Yes. Like, they did that on purpose.

looks at Styles and is like, I'mgoing to find your dad, I

promise. And then he disappears into the
fog with decalion as that fucking music cue is like.
And the world was gone. OK, so I I feel like I'm getting
unfairly angry at Scott here. It's hard because sometimes the
plot dictates the. Plot The plot dictates because

like he wasn't going to go with Dukalian when it was just the
sheriff, but now that his mom isinvolved, he's willing to like
be a little morally great. Like I get I get it.
I would make the same choice butlike.

watching a fictional thing, I was like, oh, so his dad isn't

And I do really appreciate he like states.

So like he does acknowledge likewhat he's doing.

I know why he made his choices, but I'm still a little mad at

But like, they make bad choices often.
They do, and yet the women are never in charge.

So the sheriff and Melissa aren't dead yet.

Yeah, because Mama wakes up and she's, you know, Papa kind of
calms her down. Melissa's like, do you know
where we are? She's he's like, absolutely not.
Looks like a root cellar to me. But she called it something
different. She called it Nematon.
And so the Nematon is coming back together where Paige was
sacrificed unintentionally, where Jennifer was murdered and

came back to life, where the sacrifices are going to be made.
And like Nematon. This tree never asked for this.
No, but the tree also doesn't exist anywhere.
The tree's been cut down for reasons, maybe because it was
being a bad guy. Maybe.
