Well. Stiles is having quite the bad day, isn't he?

In 3×18, "Riddled," Stiles goes missing and everyone searches for him. Scott, Isaac, Lydia, and Aiden all end up in his bedroom, investigating the murder board. The Sheriff bundles Scott and Isaac off to the station while Lydia insists on staying—the red strings have something to tell her. The APB turns up Stiles' jeep at the hospital, which Melissa proceeds to search from tip to tail.

Meanwhile, Stiles is stuck in a literal bear trap in some sort of dark, industrial basement, with a guy in a bomber jacket, heavily bandaged hands, and a mouth full of riddles around sharp, metal teeth.

Derek and Scott talk about chemosignals, Lydia hears an MRI machine in her mind, and, in the end, Stiles ends up in a coyote den.

If everyone has it, do you need to lose it?

You're listening to PAC Dynamics, a Fandom on the Rocks
podcast. Welcome back to PAC Dynamics, a
Teen Wolf podcast. I am Emily.
And I'm Allison. And this is season 3 episode 18
riddled. Stuff is happening.
There's a lot of shit happening.This was an action-packed

(00:33):
episode. And like, just when I thought I
knew where it was going, I was hit in the emotional place.
So like it's what happens when you watch when you don't watch
the source material as often as you should and you are hit
constantly with like the fandom interpretation.
There were just things that cameback in this episode that I did
not remember were in this episode.

(00:54):
And I, I, I, I had to hide. I had to not be perceived.
I had to deal with some very tenderoni feelings in my own
heart. Tenderoni.
My little tenderoni feelings andit was it was a lot, but this
episode was great and I it it confirms a lot of like lore,
which I really appreciate. But no, this episode where where

(01:15):
once again we are clicking up the roller coaster and it's very
exciting. After suffering from
hallucinations, which OK, yeah, Styles goes missing, Scott and
the others set off on a search and Lydia has to try and master
her new abilities. This episode aired February
10th, 2014. So it is the middle of the night

(01:37):
and Scott gets a phone call fromStyles.
I really appreciate that they have that kind of friendship
like you would assume so, but when when you're confronted with
the fact that you have to call somebody in the middle of the
night, you like actually have tothen do it and it's a real test.
Yeah, I felt now that you say that like I feel bad, 'cause my
phone is on Do not Disturb starting at 9:30.

(01:58):
That's what like Eddie, I tell everyone who's like on my, on my
list of people who I would actually pick up for at that
hour of the morning, like call until I pick up my phone.
Like I, I had to like look at them in their face with my face
and be like, call me until I pick up the phone because my
phone is on do not disturb. It'll, it'll start ringing after
like two or three phone calls inconsecutive order.

(02:19):
But like, keep pushing the button until I pick up.
Don't think you're bothering me.You have to trick my phone into
thinking something. I should probably put a few
people on my like push through. Your push through list to be
like if you actually call me at zero o'clock in the morning like
I wanna be, I need the phone to make noise so that I'm here for
you like. 'Cause honestly, my phone hasn't

(02:41):
rung since, I don't know, 2009. It's been on silent.
It's always really, it's always really unsettling when my phone
starts to ring because it rings so rarely like my phone is on
noise for like so rarely that when it makes the ringing noise,
I don't recognize it right away.I don't either.
I, I mean, I'm of the age and I'm you might be too, where I

(03:04):
had specialized ringtones for specific friends so I know what
I. Do a little bit miss that.
Yeah, I I do miss that. Which is it's funny so like
because of the way settings keeptransferring over phone to phone
to phone, you know whenever I get a new phone I just say I
transfer all my shit. So it transfers those ringtones

(03:25):
over, but since it's on silent or just vibrate I never hear
them except when I have my headphones in and 1 friend calls
via WhatsApp. Yes, yes, yes.
The specialized ringtone still goes off in my headphones.
What is it? Ke$ha.
Incredible, amazing. I don't I think in order that

(03:49):
that's the problem, though, is that so many songs that we have
and have had with our like our personal attendants and friends,
you have to have it something that's like loud enough that
you. Recognize.
It as a ringtone. It's, it's the one that's like,
we're dancing, like we're dumbed.
That one. Oh my God, So that's what goes
off. Incredible.
I love that. Well, 'cause I think for you it

(04:10):
would, it would probably have tobe Taylor Swift's We were never
ever getting back together. But I like, I start going to the
beginning of that song and I'm like, that's not loud enough.
It would have to be something inthe middle.
Yes, yeah. So or I knew You Were Trouble.
Oh yeah, for sure. I know what I'm like.
Yeah, it's all right. I understand, but.

(04:30):
At some point, we'll go through the Teen Wolf cast and pick
Taylor Swift songs for their ringtones.
Oh my God. Alert.
Well, unfortunately Styles doesn't have a custom Taylor
Swift ringtone for Scotts phone but.
He does not. I don't think it rings.
I think Scott, just like Spidey, senses his way awake, probably.

(04:51):
I love this, love this for him. So Scott, like the world's best
buddy, picks up the phone and Styles is terrified.
And he is stuck on something. He can't get out.
Something smells really strongly.
His eyes are watering, he is lost and scared.
Yep. And Scott, Scott immediately

(05:13):
goes into like best friend savior alpha mode and is trying
to get, you know, as much information so he can go save
his best friend, which is the only plot we need in this
episode. Yeah, this this episode is find
Styles. Yeah, that's all the I mean,
there it's a couple things. But like the the the rest of the

(05:36):
episode is find Styles for everybody.
Yeah. And so we'll continue on this
journey of damn, Dylan O'Brien is a really good actor in this
season, but Tyler Posey is trying his best.
He's holding his own here. Because his.
Own act, which is apparently notvery easy.
He is acting alone probably, which is not very easy and he is

(06:00):
trying really, really hard and Ireally appreciate that.
So I can't remember. I buy Scott, I buy Styles.
Yes. I can't remember like what show
or whatever it was, but there was someone somewhere talking
about how they actually had the other person talking through the
phone so that it made it easier.I don't think it was Teen Wolf.
I think it was some other movie or show or somewhere.

(06:21):
But because it's so hard to like, act to the phone and get
the timing of a conversation right.
Yeah, it just made more sense inthat instance to have someone
feeding lines so that you could, you could get the cadence of a
conversation with your your scene partner down right, 'cause
otherwise you're just sitting there, you're like.

(06:44):
Styler seems awful. Where are you?
Where? Which again, is like all the
Marvel green screen shit, like, well, no wonder the acting is so
bad. Like they're just stuttering in
front of a green screen. Yeah, they're just like, like
floating on, on cable, testable, trying their best.
Yeah, No, actors are actors are best together.

(07:04):
But Dylan here is so good and Tyler is so good and it's
incredible. And the whole time in this
scene, my little brain is just chanting chaos, chaos, chaos,
chaos. Yeah, and also uh oh.
Repro. Having a slightly better time,
maybe more confusing though is Lydia and Aiden because Lydia's

(07:27):
having like a drama one of your French girls for Aiden at the
school in the middle of the night.
And I do really appreciate that at least they call it out.
Are we even allowed to be here this late?
Yeah, like, well, there's so many murders, they can't keep a
security guard hired. Oh my God, they watch their own
TV show. Congratulations, Teen Wolf.

(07:47):
And and I guess also they just now have a key to the door.
Yeah. It's just, you know, what, if
Lydia Martin were to go to the, go to the new, old, new
principal to be like, hi, I'd like a key, please.
They'd be like, yeah, of course. Here you go.
Sure, it's fine, but. Yeah, it's nice to know that
Aiden is still unbelievably horny for our girl Lydia.
This is the the definition of down bad.

(08:08):
He is down so bad. Yeah, he thinks they're going to
do sexy stuff. She's just there to draw him.
And then, through the radio, shestarts hearing things.
A little static and a little styles whispering come find.
Me and a little Styles and this whole episode I just, I'm I am

(08:28):
playing with the Barbies and smashing them together like.
Yep, also with the writers. Why can?
Why can Lydia hear Styles like very specifically?
Or is it the? Is it the?
Other one. The other one and like, how does
he kind of get like, Oh my God, I have so many questions.

(08:49):
Yeah, I mean, actually there's alot of questions for everybody
of like, who's talking when. Yeah, and it gets a little more
clear in this episode, but we really need to be able to see
Dylan O'Brien's face, because the thing about is that he can
do it. You can tell who's speaking most
of the time when you can see hisface.

(09:10):
But in these like voice over whatever is, it's really hard.
It is hard, yeah, and I think itshould be confusing.
Yeah, 'cause it's confusing for him, it's confusing for
everybody, it's confusing for everybody.
Yeah, especially when the cold open ends with Scott being like,
why are you whispering? And Styles is like because I
think there's someone in here with me.

(09:31):
Dun Dun. Oh shit.
Literally I have a note in here.Just tell him you love him.
Christ alive. I think like Scott is trying.
He's on the phone with styles and just the intense emotion and
vulnerability is so it's so reminiscent of like Prince Eric
at the end of Little Mermaid. I lost her once.
I'm not going to lose her again and I'm and I'm just like Scott.

(09:55):
Tell him you you love him and you're not leaving him behind.
Someone really should just tell Styles they love him.
Literally. Scott, Lydia, anybody?
Anybody friendly? It doesn't even matter, just
somebody. Dude, the the the behaviors that
occur in this episode. I know man, the.
Like at this point I know I havemy like my conspiracy pony

(10:18):
riding hat on. I know I I know I do.
But. And yet.
So many people in this episode make physical choices that the
editor then puts in the episode I I have to ask.
I know. I have to ask the question.
Who decided? Who decided?

(10:38):
But yeah, no, turns out Styles is in some kind of a basement,
and he thinks that there's someone in the in there with
him, and it's very, very bad. Yeah, it is bad.
It is bad. We also have Kira at home
studying, but her her lamp won'tturn on and she reaches for the
light bulb which she thinks is burnt out, except it glows under

(10:59):
her touch until it explodes. Now again I have questions.
The camera like zooms very politely like up her body.
Yeah, I was like, hold on camera.
So it's good to know that Kira is both adorable with her like
little rainbow knee high socks and her little whatever and hot.
Yeah, that too. Just with the like the whole

(11:21):
silhouette, like wow. So Kira accidentally explodes
the light bulb and calls out loud to her mother, who then
comes in with a new light bulb, who then proceeds to tell us
that it's after midnight. First of all, Kira, why are you
still awake at midnight? Second of all, Noshko, why are
you like, awake and responding at midnight?

(11:43):
No jammies outside clothes like. She's got shit to do, man.
Have shit to do and we'll talk about that later, but like, this
house should not be awake like this at midnight, yeah.
What is? What is?
Going on hey, you know, foxes are awake at I don't know what
fox is like. No, but Noshiko comes in and

(12:04):
replaces the light bulb, and sheand Kira share some very like
Noshiko is suspicious, why is the light bulb exploding?
Kira is like, why is my mom being weird?
And they're just yeah. Got a lot to learn about each
other. Yeah, they have a lot to learn.
Also trying to do some learning because we like segways that
make no sense. Scott, Isaac, Lydia and Aiden

(12:26):
have gone to Styles bedroom. We have to assume the sheriff is
at work because he doesn't yet know Styles is missing.
Who has a key to that house? I'm assuming everybody but
Scott. I'm assuming it's Scott, but
literally at this point I think Derek probably has a key.
I think Lydia probably has a key.
You. Yeah, well, Scott just goes in

(12:47):
the window. Derek goes in the window.
It's. True, and so does Derek.
Lydia, though, cannot do that. So.
No. So I they must have had a key.
I feel like once you bring the parents in it's a little less
weird to give out new keys, especially to like the
responsible ones. Like it would not surprise me if
Derek has keys to like Scott andStyles and Allison's house.

(13:10):
Yes, I would think so that. Wouldn't surprise me.
We have the alpha has to have keys to his pax house.
And so does Scott. Yeah.
Like I that that that concept doesn't surprise me.
No, that's not the issue here. The issue is that the the very
creepy threads of red yarn goingfrom Styles murder board tied to

(13:34):
a pair of scissors impaled in Styles as mattress.
That's very specific and very scary.
I don't love it. I don't like it and Lydia is so
worried about Styles. Tell him you love him, it's
fine. Yeah, somebody say maybe we
could end this whole thing rightnow if someone would just say

(13:56):
it. Also, it's a really big pair of
scissors. It is indeed.
It's like a they look like fabric scissors.
They look like fabric scissors. Yeah, the big industrial ones.
Yeah, so I was like, who like those?
His mom's or something like why do they have these?
But yeah, so they they talk about the red string being used
for the unsolved cases and they have this back and forth of

(14:17):
maybe he thinks he's part of an unsolved case.
And then Isaac is like or he is an unsolved case like Isaac.
Shut the fuck up, man. Well, frankly, they're correct
on both counts. So.
They are correct. Yeah.
So they're gonna, they're gonna go find them by cent, right?
Yeah. And then so Isaac and Scott

(14:40):
leave to go find him by scent, 'cause they came to the house to
get a more like a more specific scent.
And so then they're gonna go to the sheriff station.
Because while Scott promised Styles that he wouldn't bring in
the sheriff, Lydia has made no such promise.
And Scott's like, it's not that far from here.
We'll just go. I do appreciate that they listen
to Lydia being like, hey, not this time.

(15:01):
Yeah, like he's missing. This is fucked up.
The sheriff knows. Let's not play this hide.
Hide the game from from the sheriff.
I just, I'm, I'm so grateful that they finally made this turn
and it feels really funny, like just watching it, watching it
just for like from here, you don't feel the difference.

(15:23):
But I'm going back and listeningto our old podcasts and I was
like listening to Season 2. And.
Just how alone Lydia was, how isolated she was, how not read
in she was, how, how kept separate from all of this she
was. And now, not that long later,

(15:43):
she is integral. Scott trusts her.
She is a good voice in the pack. She is brought into things.
They trust her. I just, I love, I love this for
her. Yeah, I really.
This is this is everything I hoped for Lydia in Season 2,
when she was just so isolated and alone.
Yep, agreed. And that they, like, listen to

(16:06):
her, which, you know, is about to be one of the issues in this
episode. But they she's folded into the
pack. Yeah, for sure.
So but Aiden has noticed that Styles Jeep is gone and you know
this reminder that Lydia gets these feelings when someone is
going to die. Right.

(16:27):
Like she's, she is nervous, she's pacing, something's not
right. And she has this like feeling
that there's something in the instyles bedroom that they need to
find to help find him, which is why they break off into go to
the Sheriff's Office to stay in the bedroom.

(16:48):
So she's, she's got a, she's gota feeling.
Yeah, and Aiden is so in, in again, a very stark turn from
last season. Aiden is so supportive of Lydia,
yeah. Doesn't call her crazy, doesn't
think she's making it up. She cuz she constantly keeps
going like, did you hear that? Did you hear that?
And go and he goes, no, I don't think anybody's hearing what

(17:09):
you're hearing. But not in like a, oh, it's cuz
you're fucking crazy. It's like, no, cuz you're
special and you can hear things that none of the rest of us can
hear. And she just like Aiden is being
super supportive, as supportive as I think he can be of her.
And I just, I love, I love that.I do too.
I mean, it's nice to not say notjust I don't hear it, but no one

(17:35):
it it it's you know, no one hears what you hear is diff.
It's a it's different than I don't hear.
It right? In a very specific way for
Lydia, because it's not totally dismissive.
It's not trying to say like, OK,well, you might rewrite.
I just don't hear it. It's like Lydia, you're, you're
special. Like if you hear something, we
believe you because that is yourthing.

(17:57):
Yep. So we have to go back to poor
Stiles. Who?
I think just a really bad night,frankly.
We do finally see and not just hear over the phone and he is in
a very blue room. Who was back babysitting.
You know it's bad. Scott was in like a dark poorly
lit blue room at the beginning of the episode.

(18:18):
Styles isn't a very darkly lit blue room.
You know it's bad, baby. I can't see.
They can't see. No one can.
See, I know I had such a hard time with these scenes.
I was like what is going? On I'm sure that there are
actors doing a nice job in there.
I'm sure if you cranked up like whatever they did in post that
you'd be able to see their fabulous face acting, but I
can't see shit. Captain the.
Reflection of one of my windows was right in the center.

(18:41):
I was like God damn it, I was trying to like move around to
see so his his leg is in a steeltrap.
Very reminiscent of Papa Tate who was putting out air traps in
the woods. Sure is looks looks real
painful. Ouch.
And there's like, movement in the room.
Some like whispery, shadowy. Something happened in the

(19:06):
background. But Styles can't see much using
his camera flashlight. And frankly, neither can we.
But there is a figure lurking ina leather jacket.
With some weird cargo pants and bandage pants.
It's got like heavily like 19. When did the first movie come
out? It was like 1930's The Mummy.

(19:27):
Yes. Bandages who he like a piece of
chalk drops and he's drawn the the kanji for self that like
it's not a backwards 5 but kind of looks like one on the wall
which like hooshes into to smoke.
And style seems to like look at it and know what it means 'cause

(19:49):
he like says self. And my big question, I would
wish I could have seen through the blue which who is looking?
Who is looking at that? Who knows what it means?
I have questions. Who?
Who diss which? Which one is you?
Speaking of somebody else havinga really bad night.
Yes, we everyone's having a bad.Night we finally make it to the

(20:11):
sheriff station where Sheriff still how about.
Acting. Looks like he's about to have a
panic attack. Yeah, he does.
Or like break something? They focus a lot on his, like,
hands and, like, the tension in his fingers and like, the
slowness of his breath. And I was like, oh, somebody's
working on their breathing exercises.
Hi Papa, How you doing? Yep.

(20:31):
Yeah, he's a he's a great actor as well.
Oh my God, he's so good. However, we have a new character
alert. I wrote that down.
I said literally new character alert.
Oh my God. Hi, Parrish.
It's nice to see you. What's up, Deputy Jordan
Parrish? Deputy Jordan Parrish, hi.
What's up buddy? You know, he doesn't do much in

(20:53):
this episode, but I wonder if we'll see him again because he
has a name. I wonder.
So Scott's like, hey, Lydia new styles was missing.
So that's that's bad. And even the sheriff is like can
you find him by Sen which not yet and perished interrupts to
be like we found the Jeep. I did like this is I think is

(21:15):
this the first time in the in the series that they
specifically lay out the schematics of the Jeep?
I think it used. In in Canon or fannin.
Yeah, I think so. Yeah, it's like a 1980 blah blah
blah blue, like CJ for that. Yeah, CJ5.
Yeah. Thank you for that detail that
everyone will now put in fic correct?

(21:35):
That way we all know the make and model so we can add it into
our little mechanic mechanic fic.
Mechanic AU that turned to Canon.
Yes, but I had like a little thing was like they found the
Jeep at dot dot dot Beacon Hill's worst hospital.
The cursed location. The worst place that anything
could happen at the Jeep is there.

(21:55):
The battery is dead, probably because he left the lights on.
So Scott says that he is called Derek and Allison to kind of
call in the team, and the sheriff immediately finds Mama
McCall, who is happy to have to just break them into like the
basement or the roof or whereverit is they need to go.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's just like, and they're,

(22:17):
you know, surgeries are probablyhappening, although it's the
middle of the night, so probablynot.
But like it's they're, they havean ER so there could be
emergency surgeries happening. You know, there are patients,
there's stuff to, but no, they're just like, yes, cops
tour the building at will. It's fine.
Also touring the building at will is 1 Mr. Derek Hale, who is

(22:37):
who has arrived on scene and is just like, yeah, Stiles is not
here, not anymore. He knows.
He knows he immediately. He immediately knows.
He immediately knows. Do not perceive me.
Do not talk to me. Do not.
Do not. He he didn't need more than half
a second. He was like, Oh yeah, he's not

(22:58):
here. We can leave.
Like you don't need to look any further.
I know. And.
And not just that he's not here. He's not here anymore.
Yeah. That he was here.
He was. And Scott's, like, you mean the
whole building gone? Yeah, he's gone.
He's gone. So they're up on the roof, the
roof that apparently all important things happen on now.

(23:20):
And Derek's like, hey buddy, younotice how strong the scent is
up here, which is insane becauselike, the wind doesn't blow it
away in the time between when Stiles was there and when he
wasn't. Not for Derek.
Not for Derek. It's like, what, in the bricks
in the concrete? What are we talking about?
What? I mean, I'm sure, I'm sure that

(23:41):
didn't occur to the writers to be like, oh, if the scent is
strong up here because as we'll find out later, like some shit
was happening. But for the rest of us crazy
people, the rest of us who thinkabout this more than 15 seconds,
you're like, did it bleed into the pores?
And Derek, just like he just knows it's in like every fabric.

(24:04):
Was like, was his sweat just like dripping and just like on
the ground like what he's. Just picking up little droplets
of it in every everywhere. Just skins.
He's just like picking up the little skin cells that fall off
of people when they walk around.I.
Don't. I don't know, but Derek being
the one to very calmly and thoroughly explain chemo signals

(24:27):
to Scott. Also I wrote down Canon versus
fan in moment. Chemo signals being a thing in
in Canon that translate into fannin.
Yes, Teen Wolf werewolves can smell your emotions.
Yes, Teen Wolf werewolves can smell your emotions as long as
they know what they're looking for.
So Derek is just up there getting an enormous whiff of ode

(24:49):
styles and feeling the straight up anxiety.
Yeah, 'cause he's, he asks Scott, like, what do you smell?
And Scott says stress and Derek's like anxiety, like this
minute difference between stressand anxiety.
This. Very small specific difference.
I I am unwell. Yeah, I am unwell.

(25:12):
There was some kind of and he's like, there was a struggle up
here. There's nothing to look at.
There's not a misplaced bit of nothing.
And Scott's like with who himself?
What the fuck, Derek? I just the fact that he has to
know something in order to base this off of Yeah, he has to know
what style smells like regularly.

(25:34):
He has to know what smells his anxiety smells like regularly.
And he has to know just the amount of things he has to know.
I am unwell. Yeah, yeah.
Derek, Middle name Hale, tell him.
What Styles. Hale, Derek.
Hale. Stolinski, Derek.
Scott Mccall's biggest fan Hale. And then he was explaining this

(25:54):
so calmly to Scott, like, yeah, obviously I know what style
smells like at all points of theday, Wondering why don't you?
So this whole episode to me, andthis is absolutely not to knock
the style, the stair freaking mistake, the Scott and Derek
people, the Scott and Derek shippers, because there is some

(26:14):
stuff in here that you can absolutely read warm and fuzzy
between the two of them because they have an emotionally
vulnerable relationship and onlyfrom each other.
And it's so good and beautiful. But this, this whole episode
gives me Scott and Derek as brothers, Yeah, who are like,
'cause Derek starts to, like, literally feel out his brother's
new girlfriend. Yeah.
And Derek is dealing with the enormous crash that he has on

(26:38):
his brother's best friend. Yeah, like this.
Whole this whole episode just reeks of Scott and Derek being
brothers. Yeah, I, I got 100% like older
brother finally giving in to like, OK, I will take care of
you. I will teach you literally like
I will. Finally.

(26:59):
I will calm down and be an olderbrother.
Finally. Yeah.
But with just with just like a little click of those giant
glasses machines at the optometrist, just like a little
to the left, I could absolutely see like the sexual tension,
like the romantic tension between Scott and Derek.

(27:20):
But my glasses are on really tight.
So like, we all know where that's going.
But the completely unhinged things that Derek says about
Styles and does to Kira in this episode, I'm like, you can't
convince me that these two aren't now family.
All family, all the time. All family, all the time the
family. Dinners are going to be wild at
the rebuilt Hale house. Indeed, the pack.
It's just the pack. Which is obviously happening

(27:40):
right? Like out in the woods.
Of course not. Just rubble, Absolutely.
That's where Boyd and Eric are. They're rebuilding the house.
Yeah, brick by brick. Well, wood by wood, because
obviously it has to be a wood house.
It's, you know, a wooden brick house for stability.
But obviously we'll talk about it.
We will talk about it. So over in at the Sheriff's
Department, Mr. Nobody Gives a Fuck shows up.

(28:03):
And I love that Parrish is an asshole to him.
He's an absolute asshole to him.Thank you Parrish.
I get why super healing had to happen here for the plot but
also didn't he like die six hours ago?
He got like stabbed in the heartplace, so yeah, a little bit.
And he was like bleeding out. They rushed him into surgery.

(28:25):
Well, now he's just hurt in the arm.
Now it's just maybe he got stabbed in the shoulder.
Well. I mean, I get it.
Like OK, so your shoulder muscleconnects to your PEC like that.
That's, I can't remember what it's called right now, but like
that I get why your arm would bein a sling because if you tried
to stretch your arm out and you had been stabbed through that
connective muscle from your PEC to your shoulder like ouchies,

(28:46):
OK fine. But also why are you not still
in the hospital like you? You were basically dead.
Yeah. But does nobody?
I mean, I could veer this off into a rant about 911 and how
nobody has any scars from their traumatic experiences, but I'm
not going to do that. I will save that for later.
But this is another one where I was like, could could someone

(29:07):
just experience an injury for more than three seconds?
Just like a little bit. Just a little.
Anyway, so he shows up. He is looking for leads about
the sword wielding maniac that hurt him.
He seems to have no memory that they appeared and disappeared
into smoke. Poof.
Which I guess is good for him. The Wanted posters behind are

(29:28):
hilarious. Indeed.
I can't believe that those are actually like up there.
They look like. Unfortunately for me, I did have
a moment in which I should have like gone back and stopped to
like pay more attention and I did not, so I have to do it now.
What they look like Zorro. Well, they do, but like, yeah,

(29:50):
so one looks like the only and one looks like Zorro.
OK, fantastic. Well, 'cause in the way that
Teen Wolf does things, eventually we're gonna get scary
Cowboys, but not with a sword. So Parrish is like, yeah, we're
looking, but like there's a higher priority, dude.
And Mccall's like Qua. Excuse me, what?

(30:13):
Excuse me, what? So Aiden and Lydia are are over
in the in styles bedroom lookingfor clues.
There's like a cute little moment because Lydia or style
still has the tree that Lydia drew framed, which is sweet.
But Aiden touches one of the redstrings as like a you know, and

(30:33):
Lydia hears like whispering voices off the reverberation of
the string. So Lydia's like, don't you hear
that? My only concern with that is
like, she, she knows she's the only one who hears this at this
point. Yeah, she keeps.
Reaching for it, you know. She is, yeah.
So she does. She does it and hears more
whispering. She's like something about a

(30:55):
house. And there's a photo on the wall
of Eichenhaus, a mental Health Center where Barrow has been
committed. And she's like, that's gotta be
solution, solution. That's where it is.
He is where Styles is. Which brings us back to Styles

(31:15):
in his blue, his blue scene. And our mummy, Our mummy man.
Our Band-Aid man. Is roaming around like speaking
Japanese to him. And Dylan O'Brien just doing the
absolute most as an actor is just outstanding.
Standing he is incredible and the the other figure is like not

(31:40):
who are you Styles? Who are we?
And we finally get a chance to like, see the bandaged man with
his leather bomber jacket and his cargo pants and his big
scary metal teeth. Yeah, and I like the metal
teeth. And you know, Styles is
constantly trying to like, push him back and Band-Aid Man is

(32:02):
like, we're trying to keep you from freezing to death, but why
can't you leave? And he's like pulling the
strings of Styles, kind of feeling himself going crazy of
losing his mind. You know, you're stuck here.
But it was it on the right foot?I thought earlier it was on the
left and the camera pans and youknow it.
The the the bear trap moves fromone leg to the other as as

(32:25):
Band-Aid Man is like letting styles his mind just straight up
unravel. Yeah, just if Styles is worried
that he was insane before, it's worse now.
Getting worse, getting worse now.
So the the cavalry rolls up to Iken House with Lydia and Scott
in tow, because I guess just nowthey're part of the the team.

(32:47):
Hello. The police and some teenagers
let us know. And Lydia, they're, they're just
like, never you mind. The people who work here let us
through. And Lydia takes them to a door,
I guess, to the basement and a room that that looks like it
should be right. It's like that, the boiler and

(33:07):
the dirt and the everything looks right, but there's no
styles. But like, everything about the
room looks right. From the very little that we
were able to see in the blue scenes, this looks right.
And we're all with Lydia like this is this is the place, this
is it, this is it, and it's wrong.
And we're like, what's going on?What is happening?
And and so is Sheriff. The sheriff is is like starting

(33:29):
to yell and my notes are sheriffstop yelling at your daughter.
I know. Stop it where is.
He like don't yell at her. And everyone is like everyone is
just trying to help. They all love styles so much my
heart hurts. But they leave the room and then
all of a sudden the camera pans to like this the the little lit
space on the back wall. And there's the kanji on the

(33:50):
wall, like we saw in the earlierscene, except this one has been
scratched into the wall. And they all missed it.
And they all missed it. Yep.
So back at the Sheriff's Department, McCall is hounding
Parrish about the transcript of the call between Styles and
Scott, which I guess we just have to assume they did a a

(34:13):
proper little investigation. Yeah.
And specifically the line about something smells terrible.
My eyes are watering. And I love Parrish is just
basically the shruggy emoji. Yeah.
He's just like, I don't know, bro.
I wasn't there. Is that what the paper says?
Then? That's what the paper says.
But Melissa shows up, and obviously she is there to help

(34:33):
because those are her children, and she is going to do it.
And Detective McCall is like, I have an idea.
And Melissa's like, I'm coming with you even though I hate you.
Exactly. And in this moment, we all say
we hate you, but if you know where a boy is, then like, help
us out. I yeah, part of me during kind

(34:53):
of the the follow up scene wherethey're driving is like, why,
why does he get to be right? Like don't, don't give this the
detective, but they, they are driving.
And McCall thinks that Styles might actually still be
sleepwalking and not awake yet, that that everything that is

(35:14):
occurring now that he is actually still sleepwalking.
And then we get a little bonus nugget into their past.
I actually enjoyed that, that yeah, that he was a a bit of a
drunk. We learned that Agent McCall was
a bit of a drunk and that he once peed in his own coat
closet. Listen, things happen sometimes.

(35:34):
You know what? I could absolutely see how that
happened. So I'm.
I can't do. Of all the things we mad at
Agent McCall about, this isn't one of them.
No. And he's like, how do we, how do
we know that Styles hasn't just convinced himself that he's in a
basement because he's sleepwalking and that he and
McCall has like an idea about where he is?
So that's where he is off to. So Styles and Bandage Man are

(36:00):
still duking it out over his sanity.
And he's like, it's a Riddle. This is all a Riddle.
And so Bandage Man decides that this is the right time to get a
little funny. I know I was like, let's not do
this now, man. We're going to talk some
riddles. Hooray.
I I am not a Riddle person. I have never been a Riddle

(36:22):
person. Whenever you know, let's ask
some riddles. Do you know the answer?
Like I never know the answer. I never do.
I don't know if I'm too literal and I just can't I don't know.
But he goes through a couple riddles of what gets bigger the
more you take it away. A hole.
What gets wetter the more it dries?
A towel. Towel.
When is a door not a door? When it's a jar.

(36:44):
And then the final one. Everyone has it, but no one can
lose it. And the way I was shouting the
answer at my computer because I've seen this episode before.
Yes and Styles does not know theanswer and the figure just keeps
yelling the Riddle at him over and over and over and he does

(37:06):
not know the answer and the the figure like gets up and styles
his face and then starts dragging him across the floor as
he screams until he wakes up in Melissa's arms in the woods.
In the loving arms of his mother, Melissa McCall.
Yes. And just kind of shakes and

(37:28):
cries because Dylan O'Brien is the best.
My God, the screaming, the crying, I like even hearing it
kind of now hits me in the heartlike Oh my God, that was real.
So intense. I hope that after that day of
filming that man got a lot of hugs and got to go home to like
a warm blankie and some nice comfort TV.

(37:49):
For sure. Because that had to have been a
rough fucking day. And it's not like it's not like
you just do it once you got to do a couple.
Takes. I had to do it a couple times
like. Yeah, that is a lot to do.
Speaking of a less happy family, sort of kind of Isaac in proving
that he has keys to everybody's house, goes to confront Allison

(38:11):
in person and it's like, where the fuck have you been?
And she's like exceeded the I was sleeping, what's wrong with
you? And so they go to investigate
and turns out that her phone is turned off, but she turns it on
only to find a slew of missed calls and texts from Scott and
Isaac that Scott that Styles is missing.
And like, you know, she gets really worried.

(38:32):
Like, where is he? Like, can we go find him?
And then there's this. Like some out of weirdly
nowhere, this huge list of unplayed voicemails from an
unknown number. Yep, and it's there's a a
message just in Japanese that very much sounds like a radio
broadcast. Yeah, it very much sounds like a
radio broadcast just on her phone's answering machine.

(38:53):
Yep, just just hanging out thereand they're like, well, this is
weird. I don't like this.
I don't care for this at all, thank you.
That's some that's something I do care for, is the next scene
of Derek jumping Styles as Jeep because he is not even gonna
leave the Jeep behind of. Course not.
'Cause that Jeep is his baby. Derek will not leave the Jeep
behind. Derek knows.

(39:14):
Derek knows. This is not the this.
This may not be the first time, but it is certainly not the last
time. And, you know, Aiden's like,
God, there's a lot of shit in this town.
And Derek's like, yeah, there it's always something more going
on just. And I actually really like the
way he says it. He's like so resigned.
He's like, yeah, yeah, this is, this is Beacon Hills.

(39:35):
You better fucking get used to it, man.
Get. Used to it.
And Aiden's, like, you know, I Ioverheard Styles telling Scott
Overheard. Meaning I was eavesdropping, of
course. Styles telling Scott that he
thinks that, you know, he's probably the nigetzine.
Like, I it's me. I'm the one behind all this.
And Derek's has the classic top,I don't know, top 20 lines.

(39:58):
Yeah, Top 10 somewhere in there for sure.
You think Styles skinny? Defenseless Styles is the new
Gitsune so good. He's so just like Nah bro that
kid. Now there's so many ways to
interpret this and everyone has their favourites. 1
interpretation can be we're still on the like enemies to

(40:20):
acquaintances to friends pipeline where Derek doesn't
believe of all of the people to get targeted that it's really
not Styles. There's another set of
interpretations in which Derek'sactually really worried about
this and is trying to like fend it off.
There's another one still in which Derek still doesn't
entirely trust the twins being, you know, as they murdered Boyd

(40:43):
and is trying to kind of disarm and protect Styles from Aiden To
be like, you don't have to worryabout him, he's not, whatever,
go away. Yeah, don't.
Don't think about styles. You don't even don't even think.
About it, just don't even think about it, don't even worry about
it and. Eyeballs off of him.
And each and every one of those breaks my heart.
Each and every one of those hurts my heart.

(41:05):
But as Derek proceeds to jump the Jeep with power from his own
weird mom van, he comes to a conclusion about power.
It's like, why not? Why wouldn't?
Then it gets in a take someone with a little more power.
Little more. A little more power, little more
juice. Now, now, now.

(41:28):
Now. To be fair, there is another
version of this show where there's a very big reason why
then it gets in a would take styles.
Yeah, magic styles. Because he's a fucking magician.
Magic Styles Magic. Styles.
He has all the spark he could possibly need.
He's got all the power, he's gotall the energy.

(41:48):
Yeah. Absolutely there absolutely that
that totally works 100%. So like Deaton was already
starting to train him up. He had plenty.
We don't need to tell you, dear listener, what we think.
You can tear magic styles out ofmy cold bed hands.
Cold, dead hands. Don't make me get a tattoo about

(42:10):
it. I'll do it.
Oh well, I think I you know thisis an event.
It cannot be undone. I don't actually have any fandom
tattoos. Yeah, no, not yet.
So cold, dead hands anyway, at the hospital and the sheriff,
McCall, sheriff and Melissa are like having a little grown up

(42:33):
chat And McCall is like that weird smell that style or that
was described by styles to Scott.
Like that's the stuff that we sprayed in the tape coyote den
to keep the other animals out, which is where they found styles
like that. That's what sparked that thought
is the smell. And the sheriff actually, like,

(42:56):
sincerely thanks, Detective Douchebag.
Thank you Detective douchebag for saving styles.
Yep, and they shake hands very cordially.
Very adult. Unfortunately, Lydia is still
hearing stuff. Yeah, for sure.
But is like Nope, didn't hear it.
Moving on. No thank you.
I don't want. It it's definitely not Scott

(43:17):
grabbing Lydia by the hand to lead her away.
That absolutely didn't shatter my heart into 1000 pieces.
I know absolutely not she. Needs someone to tell her they
love her too. Oh my God.
Who's not Aiden? Let it.
Let it be Scott. Let it be Scott.
Not that I don't love Scott and Alice, and not that I don't love
Scott and Kira, but just for a minute, can we talk about Scott

(43:39):
and Lydia? Oh my God.
I just think they all need fucking friends.
They all need fucking friends and the way that Scott and Lydia
like I absolutely will. I will happily take romantic
Scott and Lydia 100,000% but like the Canon events, the way
that Scott's earnest love of humanity finally gets through to

(44:04):
Lydia, and that Lydia can see Scott not for like this dopey
whatever, but as an actual person who loves and cares and
tries. They bring out the best in each
other. I love them so much.
They are so good for each other.I have a lot of feelings about
Scott and Lydia and how they continue to grow and push each

(44:27):
other and develop. And I just, I have a lot of
feelings about Scott and Lydia. That's why they're all a pack.
That's right. That's right.
So apparently they all still do have to go to school after all
of this retro, which is shitty. So Scott's in the locker room of
Requirement texting Deaton for help who is not helpful.

(44:47):
No. He's like working on it.
Working on it, are you? Are you?
Kira tries to get Scott's attention out in the hallway,
but he is either ignoring her oris just utterly distracted.
He's for sure he's just like distracted and cannot handle it
and just chooses to ignore her. And Kira, rightly so, has her
little heart broke. She does, until when Mr. Derrick

(45:11):
Hale shows up looking fine as fuck.
Oh my God. And it's like hello I can help
you. And Scott's Big Brother Derek
shows up to be like hi. So first of all I have
questions. How did you get to the school?
Anyone can get into the school. There's no one keeping people
out for real, for we don't go here anymore.
And I just, I want to hug here at this moment.

(45:32):
I'm like, baby girl, it's not your fault.
It's not your fault. He's not mad at you.
He's just really distracted by life right now.
It's OK. Yeah, he is.
So Derek is there because he wants Kira to show him, tell him
what happened at the power station with Barrow.
Because he wants formulating ideas of his own.

(45:53):
Which, of course, he won't tell anyone about.
Of course, he hasn't learned. Much yet so to stick with them,
Kira, I guess. I guess.
Derek signs Kira out of school for the day.
I guess, yeah. She takes him to the power
station and there is a baseball bat stuck to the the machinery.
And yes. Keep going, keep going, keep
going. Well, and Derek's like it's

(46:15):
styles this bat. And I was like, yes, of course
you know that. Yes, of course you know that,
Derek. How do you?
How do you know that, Derek? How do you know that anyway?
He's seen it. It probably smells like style.
Smells like, style like, and also officially welcome to the
Hail pack, Kira. Yes, she is wearing a leather
jacket. I wrote that down.
This is. The official Halo Pack leather
jacket. She sure is.

(46:35):
Yep. Love this for her.
I do Welcome, welcome friend. So Derek, Derek can't move this.
Well, he can't, but it takes some effort to move this bat
because it's been magnetized. And I I did write down that you
can't magnetize aluminum, but like, whatever.
Yeah, but yeah. It's magic.
Magic. And Derek, who has grown like

(46:56):
the perfect amount of of beard scruff, correct.
It's like, I mean, Tyler Hiklin can have any length of beard and
it's perfect. But this one is especially
correct for his face. Indeed.
He's like, I need you to tell meeverything about Foxfire.
And poor Kira, who doesn't know shit about Foxfire.
Kira, who barely knows what she is, is like I have a children's
book. Yeah, I just, I have so many

(47:19):
questions, but we have, unfortunately for everybody,
Mama McCall and Papa Sheriff. I can we stay at the high school
and then do all of the hospital.Oh yeah, of course.
OK, because otherwise we're gonna, like, do the hospital for
half a second and then go back to the high school and then go
back. So like so Isaac and Allison,
who are never going to class again, apparently have taken the

(47:42):
message on Allison's phone to Mr. Yukimura to translate.
The only teacher in school with any amount of trust.
Yes. That he's the only one they can
trust. And he's like the the guy
talking is giving instructions to evacuate a Japanese
internment camp during World War2.
But it has to be a fake because they're talking about Oak Creek

(48:03):
Camp, which never existed. So I don't know why you'd have
this message or who sent it. But like, it's not it's not
real. It's not like a genuine radio
transmission. It's it's super weird but OK
Thanks. Super weird.
And then kind of out in the hallway, well, kind of
everywhere. Lydia is just hyper sensitive to

(48:27):
like metal on metal. Clangy sounds like a locker
slamming. Although her hair is looking
super cute. Oh my God, Lydia.
This whole episode looking like a vampire queen.
Oh my God. Oh my God.
I was like God I wish someone would do that to my hair
everyday. Just peek.
Incredible. Now one of the cool things I'm
learning as I get older, you know, one of the things that you

(48:50):
get better at is you get more words when you're little and
like, your tummy hurts, it just hurts.
And you're, you don't yet have the, the experience to be able
to tell, is it sharp? Is it dull?
Is it radiating? Is it, you know, a period cramp
versus a Constipation cramp versus gas?
Cause those all feel a little different.
You don't know, you don't have the words, you just know that it

(49:12):
hurts. The same comes with like
experience for noises. So it's like when Lydia was
having that whole thing with that the flies versus the, the
electricity and the light bulb, my grown up brain was like, Oh
yeah, those are two different sounds.
So when she started hearing thisparticular clanging sound, I
immediately was like, oh, I knowwhat that I know what that sound

(49:34):
is because that's a very specific sound.
But your average 1617 year old isn't going to know what that
sound is. It's unfortunately as you get
older you've just heard more shit.
You've just heard more shit and you've been in more scenarios
like, you know, So what she's hearing is going to become
really, really relevant here in a minute.

(49:55):
But she doesn't know that. She just hears this loud metal
on metal clanging. Yep, and it is killing her.
And Scotty is so Scotty is so worried.
Yeah, Yep. So Lydia's like, I gotta, I
gotta go. She has to leave before her head
just explodes. So at the hospital, Melissa is

(50:20):
talking to the sheriff about styles of symptoms, but the
sheriff has already written themdown for like the last two weeks
because it's not like he hasn't noticed.
Yeah, not like he hasn't seen itbefore.
Yeah, so he wanna, he wants to do some tests and I just, I have
to assume it's the the upside ofliving in a small town, being

(50:43):
the sheriff and you're not wife, not girlfriend working at the
hospital that you just get an MRI the same day.
Yeah, for sure. Same.
Same moment, yeah. Pretty much you just.
Slide right in there. Well, Scotty shows up, so it's
got to be around 6, is like whathe says to Lydia in the hallway.
Yeah. So it's an evening time.
It's been scheduled for later that day.
Which I I guess they do. Maybe it qualifies an emergency.

(51:07):
I don't know how they're making this happen.
But. I don't even know how the MRI
tech is reading them the results, frankly.
You're not allowed to do that. Not.
His job? You're absolutely allowed to do
that. You gotta wait for the
neurologist my friend. So like, let's fucking talk for
a second, 'cause I'm gonna set this up and then I'm going to
cry. OK, great.
So in yes or no, in that MRI is like Styles's entire family.

(51:30):
It's the sheriff and Scott and Mama McCall that is his family.
And Styles is so fucking loved by his whole family and it's
wonderful. So the sheriff and Mama go out
into with the, with the the guy in the lab coat who's running
the MRI machine. And Stiles tells Scott that,

(51:50):
like, I think I know what they're looking for.
And it's this, it's frontal temporal dementia, which is what
killed my mom. And it's the only kind of dement
that affects teenagers. And Scott in that moment is
like, you know, I'll, if it's something, then I'll do
something. And we all are supposed to read
that. It's like, if it turns out that
it's real, I'll bite you and become a werewolf.

(52:11):
And we're going to fix it. And my only note here is that,
boy, is Peter going to be pissedoff that he didn't get to do
that? Peter's like, what?
I'm not good enough for you anymore.
So we've got just the the sweetest, softest Scott and
styles. This hug is critical.
This hug is incredible. And Mama and Papa in the in the

(52:32):
little like lab tech room aren'tjust being incredibly soft.
But then who shows up outside Derek and.
Kira and Kira. OK, as a as an aside, there's a
really good shot of the car thatDerek rolls up in.
It's a Toyota. Sponsored by Toyota.
It is. It is blue and it is roughly

(52:55):
Jeep shaped if you look at it. I suppose, yeah.
I just like I hadn't really noticed 'cause it's it's not
minivan shaped, it is roughly Jeep shaped.
Yeah, it's, it's more of the boxkind of car.
It's like a suburban, kind of. And I just, I had a moment of
like matching cars. This disappears for season 6

(53:19):
whatever at the very end when he's back into like a Camaro.
But I was like interesting choice of car.
For the moment. For you.
But yes he he does roll up with Kira to to be there for him I
guess. And so they have this whole back
and forth about, you know, should Kara actually go inside

(53:41):
and, you know, did I actually dothis to Styles for her and
Darren? Was Barrow going to use the
Foxfire to jump start? Then it gets today in styles.
Maybe. Maybe.
And so Derek in his like most fangy Big Brother, we goes,
maybe you should stay out here. Derek.
Middle name Hale, Why are you here?

(54:05):
He's there to watch over his pack.
Is he there because he is part of this family?
Yes, of course he is. Mama and Papa and Styles and
Scott and Derek and Derek like you cannot tell me.
He's there to take care of his family.
What's the problem? You cannot tell me I am wounded.

(54:25):
I do not perceive me. I cannot be.
Stop it. Ouch.
Yeah. Ouch, Ouch.
And he can, I'm assume, smell how scared Styles is, which, you
know, he and he and Scott have alittle chat about this because
they are outside in a very angled shot, like the the camera

(54:49):
could not have been more tilted during these the scene between
Scott and Derek. And yet the two of them,
they're, it's not the same angle.
I keep thinking about it. You brought it up in Season 1
and I cannot stop thinking aboutit.
Derek's shots are so female, gaze coded.
They always are. They always are.
But like it's again, we're looking at Scott and Derek in

(55:11):
the same hallway, in the same lighting, in the same damn
chairs, and Scott is like nicelycropped but still full light on
his face, full frame of emotion. And Derek's are shot like down
with his eyelashes. It's 100.
I was gonna say like, this is look at my eyelashes.
This is look. At my fucking eye.
This is like if you could make ashot of bedroom eyes.

(55:32):
Like are you fucking kidding me?Yeah, aren't my cheekbones
beautiful? Yes they are, and also yes,
they're beautiful. You're incredibly beautiful.
Congratulations. And also, why is this the
choice? I am trying to hear what you're
saying, but I am gazing at you. I am gazing at you, but like
you're kind of T Scott, like I just Derek.

(55:55):
I get it, the cinematographers think he's beautiful and they're
not wrong. And they're not wrong.
But like, boy, does it really look like he's being shot to
flirt with Scott in this moment.Yeah.
Like, you're not wrong. Like OK, but I just I have so
many questions. Why?
Why weren't they shot the same? The cameraman just can't help
it. I just, I just don't understand.

(56:16):
But we get some things confirmedin this conversation between
Scott and Derek in the waiting hallway.
Derek took Cora back to South America.
So Cora going to South America after the fire is cannon.
And then I guess on the way backup to California, Derek needed
to talk to his Mama. Yep, the dead mom.

(56:37):
The dead mom. His mom is dead.
He has a dead mom. He's a dead mom who told him
that the Hale family didn't justlive in Beacon Hills, they
protected it, Cannon. And now the town needs someone
else to protect it. Someone Like You, Scott.
Because Derek. No, Derek's just tired.

(56:57):
Derek's. Just sleepy.
And, and Derek and Scott needs Derek to teach him how to do
that. He's finally like, I don't know
shit. And I need you to do it because
you know which we've known. Yeah.
Because he's a born wolf and hasmillennia of experience in his

(57:18):
family and and now needs to passthat on to his little bro.
To his little bro. And then they reach this
conclusion that that Styles was trying to protect them.
I think this is a bit of a logicleap to get them to the next
scene. For real.
Because it's like like a revelation almost like I maybe

(57:39):
there's a missing sentence that they cut out.
I don't know. But Scott's literally just like
light bulb styles was trying to protect us.
I was like, how did OK, well, I'll take it.
But then Derek's like. What?
Like, yes, but how did how did you get there?
And Derek's like from himself, like, OK, yes, but again, in
this moment, how did you get there?

(58:01):
So they they race back up to theroof and they're like styles was
trying to not do something and they find a bag of tools and a
huge power cable that's been damaged and is like sparking.
Yikes. And out in her car, Lydia starts
to scream. Yeah, like Lydia this whole time

(58:22):
has been sitting in her car, I think, like maybe outside of the
hospital. I had no idea, but she's.
Sitting in her car and she's listening to music and she's
like very panic breathing. She's like raving onto the
steering wheel. And she, like, goes to the radio
and cranks up the song to try todrown out the clanging that's
happening in her head. And we look at the power line

(58:44):
and then out of nowhere the sound cuts and Lydia screams.
Yep, very cool shot actually. Oh yeah, it's gorgeous.
But kind of intercut this whole time is Styles, who finally goes
into the MRI machine. And did you ever watch America's
Next Top Model? Yeah, quite a lot of it.
So in some of the early, early seasons, they talk a lot about

(59:08):
like what they call a beauty shot, or at least what they, I
don't know if that's what the people call it.
But so there are a lot of modelswho can do beautiful things with
their whole body, but it's a lotharder to do model things just
with your face or dress with your face and your bust.
And it's the same here in an MRImachine.

(59:30):
For those of you who've never had an MRI before, you're not
allowed to move. It's taking very specific
pictures with very specific magnets, and they don't want you
to move. Like, we'll strap you in if you
think you can't move. And so Dylan has to literally
act while not really being able to move all that much.

(59:52):
And Oh my God, he's so good. By the way, if you move like
this, kind of like with your head back and forth, that
they're gonna make you do it over again.
Like you can't move this much inan MRI but.
No, you can't. He's like squeezing his eyes
shut. And even that I was like, you
can't do that. Can't do that in the MRI, but
this varies. For those of you who've never
done this before, an MRI, it's. So loud.
He's really loud and it's reallyscary.

(01:00:12):
So they put you basically in this enormous metal tube, but
the room that you have in there is not very much.
I had an MRI once. I closed my eyes when I went in
and I opened it once and I regretted it.
And then I it was like 45 minutes later and then I opened
my eyes on the way out. Did they give you earplugs or
headphones? They gave me headphones.

(01:00:33):
It was. I got Christmas radio.
Oh. OK.
For 45 minutes in my MRI. Nice.
But that very specific clanging noise that Lydia's been hearing
all day is what the doctor warned Styles about.
There's gonna be this really loud clanging noise, like a
hammer hitting an anvil, and that's the noise that is inside

(01:00:53):
of an MRI machine. Yep, it's loud.
It's really loud because it's like right next to your head.
And so pro tip, if you're ever, if you ever get the chance to
get an MRI, which is kind of like a full body, it's like a
full body X-ray. So like it's not always very
scary, but if they gave you the chance to have headphones or
earplugs, please take it. Very recommended.

(01:01:15):
Yeah, highly recommend. Also like don't need one if you
can help it. If you can help it, but you
know, yeah, but yes, so Lydia ishas been hearing all day long
the MRI noise. And so Stiles is in the MRI and
they finally pulled up his results.
Which they wouldn't do. Which they would not do in front

(01:01:38):
of you and the and the tech is legally not allowed to tell you
what's going on even if they not.
Absolutely not. None of this is real.
None of this is real. This isn't right.
They can't do this. But both Mama and Papa know
what's happening. They're looking at this MRI
result and they both know what'sgoing on.
Yeah, they're, they're saying that there's signs of atrophy.

(01:01:59):
Which is the medical term for shrinkage, Yeah.
For something, atrophy is a bit smaller, yeah.
Yeah, we're not doctors. No, but that's what that word
means, I think. Yeah, his brain is getting
small. It's bad.
It's not good. Yeah, it's bad.
It's bad. And this is what happened to his
mother. Yeah, so we go back to Styles in

(01:02:19):
the machine and then we he's like panicking.
And then he opened his eyes intoa very scary like dream sequence
in the MRI room. Yes, he is now elsewhere and the
the Nikitzine is back and he is back at it with his Riddle and
saying, you know, we might consider letting them go.

(01:02:42):
And Styles is like letting who go.
Everyone, whoever meant something to you, we're going to
destroy them all. Yokes.
One by one and he starts to unwrap himself.
He starts to unwrap all of the band from his head.
And he's Dylan O'Brien is so good at the the crying that's

(01:03:06):
happening here because he is like snot dripping from his
nose, like it's a lot. And he and Styles finally comes
to the answer of the, of the Riddle of what is the Riddle
again? Everyone has it, but no one can
lose it. And he's like a shadow.

(01:03:28):
And the thing unwraps the final bandage, revealing Styles's own
face, but with some serious bagsunder his eyes.
With some serious bags under hiseyes for a point of clarity.
From this moment on, because it's going to get real
confusing, there are three separate characters when we talk
about what's happening here. There is Style, Stilinski, one

(01:03:54):
possessed regular guy. Styles prime.
Styles Prime there is Evil Styles Void, which we call void,
and then there's the bandage guywith the with the teeth who is
the Nagitzine. Yeah.
So that's when we talk about those characters.
That's who we're talking about. Yeah, styles void and it gets an

(01:04:17):
A is how we will refer to them. Exactly.
So write it down if you need it.But Void is looking real sleepy
and real evil, and it's not good.
But so as Void is revealed, Styles wakes up in the MRI
machine and you can tell on his face it's Void and it's not
Styles. That is, that is 100% not

(01:04:38):
styles. That is void and electricity
just crackles everywhere throughout the room, the
hospital, and then the the body is gone.
Styles is gone. Void's gone.
In a horrible call back to season 2, where is my son?
Where's my son? I'm so sorry man, life's gonna
get worse. It's gonna get worse before it
gets better. Really, really sorry.

(01:05:00):
So Void is getting dressed up inlike the stripy sweater that he
was in in the vision and just very politely, like walks out of
the the cursed hospital. It's dark.
It the power's going. I can't see shit you.
Know I was like, what's happening again?
It's going on. Styles comes upon an empty
hallway and an empty elevator that is no longer empty.

(01:05:23):
No, we've got. Inside of it, inside of it, we
have the absolute badass that issomehow Noshko Yukimura Kira.
Yeah, we do. And she proceeds to confront
Void and asks so do you, do you know who I am?
And Boyd says yes. And so she goes.

(01:05:43):
Then you remember that I won't be deterred by your choice of
host. Are you threatening us now?
I'm threatening you as the only appear behind her in a puff of
smoke. Yeah, they do.
She's she's gonna kill that body.
She's gonna. She's gonna kill him.
She's gonna kill him dead. Yeah, she don't.

(01:06:05):
She don't give a fuck who that is.
Yeah, so we get hints here that Noshiko has dealt with the with
the Nagatine before. And I think this is the first
time that we get a hint that Noshiko might be super.
Yeah, yeah. Other than the the the bulb.
In. Kira's room.
Some like suspicious looks, but yeah, so just showdown, showdown

(01:06:29):
beast versus beast. Except he he walks away because
Void's like, are you threateningus?
And, and she's like, if the Oni can't defeat you, I know someone
who will. And and Void gives her this like
look over his shoulder and then walks away.

(01:06:50):
So he's he's not quite ready to tangle.
Yeah, but I frankly don't remember who this other person
is, so looking forward to seeinghow that plays out.
It's Derek. Derek's just gonna be like, hey
buddy, not this one. Ouch.
So it turns out this whole time with all this has been happening
here, it's just been out hangingin the parking lot waiting for.

(01:07:10):
Derek waiting, yeah. Is this what is this what
happened to like Erica and Boyd and Isaac?
Were they just like at the mall?Just like waiting for Derek?
Yeah, probably it's. Like hanging out the car.
Just like doing their homework. It's dark, she's nervous, she's
just waiting around outside by his car, and the loose cable
from the roof in a very Herculesin the Hydra kind of way, flails

(01:07:34):
and flails and flails off the roof and goes straight for Kira
and attacks her. Cut to black.
The end. Dun Dun.
Oops. So much happening in this
episode. I like, I think she's gonna be
fine. Yeah, I think she's gonna be
fine, but like, Ouch. Yeah, I think she's gonna be
fine, but yeah, oof. I have a beef with this episode.

(01:07:57):
I have a beef. Oh.
OK, I have a beef, all right. The like you can you can take
the starek out of the TV show, but you can't take the TV show
out of the starek like I. Uh huh.
Yeah. Derek was only on screen today
to talk about styles. Yes, the.
Whole fucking episode. Like Derek's just been around

(01:08:21):
the whole time. Like, yes, he's there supporting
Scott. Yes, he's learning from Kira.
Yes, he's doing all these things.
But like, Derek picked up the phone for Scott.
It's like it's about Styles. He's like, oh, fucking right,
let's go. And then he jumped his Jeep in
the parking lot and went inside to hang out with Styles's family
when Styles was getting an MRI. Yeah.

(01:08:42):
Like they have been because he'sin the love I.
Mean. Single handedly holding the ship
afloat this whole episode like I've I can't, I cannot I I'm
wounded, I'm so wounded, I'm so mad I.
Do wonder sometimes, like, and, and honestly, this is a question
that that we have for every writer of every TV show where

(01:09:03):
there is a ship that doesn't sail.
But you're like, do you know what you're doing or are you
dumb? Like, do you just not know?
Are you like, yeah, are you just, do you just not know, do
not understand? Are you unaware of what you have
put on screen? Are you, are you like, not, are
you homophobic? But like, did you not?

(01:09:25):
Did you not see it? Did you just like?
Did you not? Notice do not see the difference
between really close male friendships or female and and
when it crosses into like man ifmy friend did that for me I
would have questions. I would have questions.
And I'm not I'm, you know, I'm looking at you 911 buddy.

(01:09:47):
Like I man, my friend put me in the will to take care of their
child. I'd be like, all right, what are
we? Hold on a minute.
Excuse what? Are you asking me to marry you?
Like what are we doing here? Hold on, hold on.
So like when when Derek's sole purpose is in not just in life,

(01:10:07):
but like in an episode is to make sure Styles is OK.
And then you pretend for like, the rest of the end to be like,
yes, I can smell him. Yeah.
In this town. Yeah, this whole town.
And. Yeah.
OK, Scott, you've known him yourwhole life and you can't do
that. I can.
I've known him a couple years and.

(01:10:30):
Yeah. And can pick him out of a crowd
now. I think it's still fannin that
that the Wolves can hear can pick out heartbeats in a crowd.
I think that's still fannin. I don't think they've talked
about that on the show. I think that's just in thick,
but they. They can.
They can hear heartbeats cause like and.
Detect lies. Scott listens to Allison's to

(01:10:50):
anchor himself and can hear a blip and a heartbeat for a lie.
But yeah, they haven't yet had. They haven't been able to like
find anybody via. Heartbeat via heartbeat.
But they are now saying that they can decipher specific
emotion apparently from the windon an open rooftop.

(01:11:13):
Like bruh. That's that's not to say that's
gay, but it's a little gay. It's I'm, I'm just like a little
gay. Just.
And like I'm and I, you have so many Legos and you had the kit,
you had the Lego kit, you built. You bought all the right pieces
and instead of building them youjust left them on the floor for
me to step on. Yeah, and I, you know, again, I

(01:11:35):
don't wanna say like not everything has to be gay in ATV
show, but like a few things could be.
Yeah, it could. It could be like a few of these
characters don't have to be straight, you know, OK, Danny
and and Ethan, but like, where are they?
They're just in the background sometimes and and Ethan's a
fucking murderer. So like, no thank you.
Yeah. And not in a fun way.
Yeah, it's just I this whole season strikes me.

(01:11:58):
It's just so odd that and of course I'm coming at this from
Sterrick, I'm coming at this with my shipping all goes on.
Of course I am. But like all the way, especially
in 3A, like something changed between seasons 2 and 3A and
they spent all of three a together and built all of this
relationship only for the just the the castle gates to just
shatter. Derek single handedly carries

(01:12:21):
the flame this like entire season and it gets worse.
Like there are other things thatwe will discuss and then styles
picks it back up in season 4. Like I just.
I've. I'm not saying they're right,
I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm just saying I have
questions. Yes.

(01:12:42):
And it makes me want to go back and read fic.
Fantastic. Thank you so much.
Oh, 100% And then, you know, I mean, I'm, I'm honestly too deep
in the weeds right now with likethe buddy fandom to read
anything else. I can't.
I'm knee deep in the passenger seat.
Honestly I can't go anywhere else for for fick right now but.
And I just, I have to say, like,we thank Style Stilinski for the

(01:13:02):
work that he did so that Evan Buckley could run.
Yes, style Stilinski crawled through broken glass so Evan
Buckley could fly. So.
He could kiss boys on TV. So he could kiss boys on TV and
now if he could just pick the right one, that would be great.
I mean. Actually, it's so the other one
could get over his Catholic guilt and hopefully that might
happen this season. I don't know.

(01:13:24):
Crossing all of our fingers. I'm I'm, I'm crossing my fingers
for you. You know it, we'll find out and
if not, I survived 15 years of supernatural.
So like been there, done that. We can discuss what's happening
in the Buddy Phantom another time.
Because I want to be like, chillmy babies, like Bros Broskis my

(01:13:44):
children, my young fans. Bros brothers, brothers just.
Fucking chill like they have to do it.
No, they don't. No, they don't.
No, they don't. And you know what?
They might never do it. And.
And have you never seen the TV show before?
Have you on the network? Would you like to to to go back
through the annals of phantom history for reals?

(01:14:06):
Let us, let us walk. Like, let me guide, let me take
your sweet little hands and guide you through the last 60
years of television. Like, anyway, yeah, I don't
know. I just, I not being able to ask
the writers anything makes the the exercise purely theoretical,

(01:14:26):
right? Of course you had you had these
Legos and they're beautiful and you put them together almost
right. Like you you.
I wish you could see the hand gestures I'm doing right now.
They're insane. I.
And like, the thing about like Teen Wolf in particular is that
like, we focus a lot on the Steric, on the Styles and
Derrick Legos. But you cannot tell me you did

(01:14:48):
not build those Legos with Allison and Lydia.
You cannot tell me that you did not build those Legos with Scott
and Isaac. You cannot tell me that you did
not build those Legos with Liam and Theo, who we will meet in
Season 5. I saw a gift set of them the
other day just randomly and I was like.
Huh. All right, the way Scott and
Derek went from like enemies to allies to like family to lovers

(01:15:15):
so that Liam and Theo could could run by the end of it,
you're just like, I'm sorry, areyou 2 not fucking 'cause it
really the the the faces here are saying otherwise.
Like they just they they're they're pros at building Legos
and I just they just don't put any of them together like the

(01:15:37):
instructions and I'm I'm just leaves me a lot of Barbies to
play with is what it does. Yeah.
Yeah, it does. So many Barbies, so little time.
That's the joy of fandom in the end.
Indeed, that's why it's the better the writing.
It just you leave not enough space.
That's the, that's the axis. I can never remember which way
axes go. But the better the show, the

(01:16:00):
less the fandom 'cause we don't need you but but the worse the
show, the better the OR the maybe the more disappointing the
show. Like you have to decide on your
terminology but like the the theless fulfilling, the less the
more space in the show, the better the fandom.
Yeah, because you have to. You have to be able to have

(01:16:23):
these characters you care about and these plots that you find
interesting and these scenarios that you find fun in order to
have a sandbox and dolls to playwith.
Yeah. Like if I didn't think that the
Nematon and Beacon Hills was interesting, or if I didn't
think that Scott or Stiles or Lydia or Derek were interesting,

(01:16:44):
then I'd have no that I have no reason to play.
Yeah, I wouldn't care. Wouldn't care.
Also, by the way, when are we going to get together and ride
our ride, our pilot ride, our pitch?
The pitch Just Dylan O'Brien andTyler Heckland doing like a
buddy comedy where they fall in love.
Sounds incredible, no? My my fun pitch.
And if anyone wants to like makethis ATV show, like hit a fandom

(01:17:04):
up. Hold on.
If you say that, then you give them the rights.
Fine, please don't do that without actually asking me
because I want to be involved because it sounds like a lot of
fun. The trademark trademark trade
and actually that doesn't actually work for the trademark
anything I. Like I want to do.
I want to see one that is just about a use.
Oh yes, that's right, I rememberthis.

(01:17:25):
I just want, you know, through this, like through the first
season, you get to know these casts of characters and you get
to know they're like they're don't forget your jacket new kid
or don't be such a sour wolf. But to just have like 45 minute,
you know, dramedy episodes or whatever of the same kind of AU
focusing on one pair at a time. So the coffee shop episode or

(01:17:49):
the police officer episode or the veterinary clinic episode or
the sci-fi episode or the Western episode with just like
these two Barbies that you want to smash together.
And then just every season focuson different Barbies, just where
you fall in love with concepts of characters in different

(01:18:11):
scenarios. Just a giant love letter to
fandom. Yep, Yep, Yep.
I remember that. It sounds so fun and it's so
easy to fuck up because everybody has their own thoughts
and feelings. But until then, I will roll
around in the beloved everythingof fandom.
Yes. Indeed.
Which is basically, I mean, the podcast is a love letter to
fandom in the end, so. It is.

(01:18:33):
You guys know this. We love Teen Wolf.
We do. We wouldn't sit here and spend
all of our time and our energy doing it otherwise.
Literally. Truly.
Truly. It's would not re watch it again
if I didn't want to. Yeah, yeah, so.
But I like it. To say we love Teen Wolf and we
love you and it's just this is so much fun and we are on the

(01:18:55):
roller coaster in Season 3 B andeverything's going to get worse.
It's all going to get worse and nobody's going to be safe and
nobody's going to have a good time.
Ouch. Yeah, yeah.
No, they are not. Well, I mean, at least it's
enjoyable to watch as it happens.
Oh yeah, super good so. There's that.
That's that's the upside. Indeed.
OK, well I guess that's the end of this episode, right?

(01:19:18):
I think we could. We covered everything.
Yep, and more. And more.
