Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts spoke out against Donald Trump's call to impeach Judge James Boasberg this week, saying that the judiciary has independence and that disagreements with rulings are what the appellate process is for, not impeachment. This very mild statement didn't sit well with MAGA world, and they are now going as far as to call Roberts, a Republican appointee, a "deep state asset" and calling for him to "stay out of politics."
Donald Trump's Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, announced in a court filing that they were going to continue to defy the judge's order about deportations because, as they claim, the flights were already over international waters and therefore did NOT have to return. They are also defying the judge's instructions to turn over documents regarding the deportations because they don't feel the judge actually needs them. This is a brazen assault on justice, and Pam Bondi is leading the charge.
Farmers across the country are warning that the latest moves by the Trump administration could absolutely cripple the agricultural economy, which would then send shockwaves across the entire country. The main issue - beyond tariffs and deportations - is that the Trump administration has cancelled a vital USDA program that accounted for as much as 35% of the total income of farmers. Without that money, many local farmers will not be able to survive much longer.
Apparently no one at The Heritage Foundation has ever heard the phrase "be careful what you wish for." The group behind Project 2025 is now suddenly terrified about Donald Trump's economic policies that they concede are not helping the economy at all - in fact, some at the Foundation are warning that things are getting really bad really quickly. But this is what they wanted, so they should be celebrating, right?
