Speaker 1 (00:00):
Three left in the regular season, and it's a road
trip Tomorrow night and Friday at Rockford Saturday night against
the Iowa wild We're talking about the Grand Rapids Griffins,
and Amideis Lombardi joins us on the live line in
the power play. I'madeis, thank you so much for doing
this today.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Thanks for having me, guys, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
It's a long season nowmadeas and just what Steve Kelly
said is where I want to go next. So you
finish the regular season, you guys know your playoff bound.
What's the mindset here with these last three games.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Well, I think there's a few different things. Number one,
like we just got to get into that playoff mentality.
I feel like we've we have been in it for
the past, you know, a few games. Every game has
been more intense, and we have to finish out strongle
with some momentum in the playoffs. And then obviously, you know,
we got to get our points and when these next
three games to avoid that, you know, the playing series, uh,

(00:52):
you know, so we can get that week to kind
of rest, recuperate and be ready for the first round
of the playoffs. So it's a big week. Here for
us in both those regards.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
What is it with you in the second year. You've
got a quick learning curve when it comes to the
game of hockey wherever you go. I was looking at
your resume and we talked about last time. I think
you were on dude, you're just a prolific goal scorer
and just a point guy. You did that at Flint
where you went over one hundred points. But I'm looking
at your numbers this year forty one games played because
of injury, eighteen goals, nineteen assists for thirty seven points.

(01:27):
I mean, you make it look easy, my friend.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Thank you. I appreciate that. I don't know, you know,
I think there's there's a lot of different elements that
I'll come into play. Obviously, having you know, a better
season than I did last year. You know the first
thing I think, you know, hockey is such a confidence
base game, and I think I just have have more
of that this year. Just knowing what's to come, you're

(01:51):
ready for the season. Obviously, I had a big offseason,
put on some strength and some size, and like I
said before, you know what to expect, and you know,
I knew that coming into the year a little bit
more trust from coaches, a little bit more opportunity, and
it kind of all came together so very fortunate. But
my focus is the team and going on a deep
playoff run now, So I'm excited for that.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Am I crazy in this? As you're going up as
a professional athlete, just like any of us, you have
a mentor, right, you have someone that you're looking as
a role model. Would a good role model for you
be what happened to Marco Kasper this year? I mean,
this guy is just on fire right now for the
Red Wings.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, definitely, it's alt. I mean me and him are
are pretty close. We were closed last year, roommates on
the road. He's such a good guy, such a hard worker,
and I'm really really happy for him. And I knew,
like I knew he would do well up there, right,
He's always kind of I feel like we're similar in
the fact that, you know, we like to, you know,

(02:52):
take time to learn things and get get comfortable before
we can really start playing playing our game. And he's
done extremely well there and I'm really happy for him.
All Right.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
We won't tell Coach Watson, but can you tell us
because now the time of year, we're used to this
as Griffins fans. We want to know who's coming, who's
going to be added, right because the red wing season
will be done. Will A Marco Casper maybe come down?
And I saw that you've got the college guys coming
in because Trustcott just got signed, right.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, I'm not I'm not sure about all that stuff.
I'm terrible with that stuff. I know that you know,
obviously we're gonna obviously we're going at wadi back, which
is going to be huge for for us, both on
and off the ice. I don't I don't know about
anyone else. The college guys who I know, the college
guys who signed, but I'm not sure if they signed

(03:40):
for next year or for the end of this year.
So this is the time where, you know, a bunch
of new guys come in and if that's the case,
I'm excited for it because you know, it's a good
It brings a good atmosphere to the team and it
should be fun. So I guess we'll see what happens.
But I'm not too I don't know too much about
that stuff. Final know that Roddy back for sure.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
But yeah, didn't really to interrupt you. The final thirty seconds.
Amadis lombardi Is joined us from the grand up as
Griffin's on the power play and stay healthy, my friend,
Because I mentioned the forty one games, how tough was
that process when you were hurt to get back in
the lineup?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Was it was really hard? You know, just being away
from the team, being away from the guys, especially when
they were on the road. It was pretty tough. And
it tested me mentally, may probably even more than physically.
But you know, we have we have a great staff
here that really took care of me, helped me get
back and be ready to go, come back in full

(04:38):
stride without you know, miss sing beat, and you know,
God had a plan for me and I'm trying to
follow that and do it the best as I can.
And it was a lesson for me for sure, and
I learned a lot through that injury. And I think
just with that combined with you know, how well the
staff did and treated me and prepared me, it was
I feel like it was you know, there was obvious

(04:58):
a little bit of a learning when I came back,
but it was pretty seamless to me and I felt
good from game one and I didn't feel sore or anything,
so I was really happy about that.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
We'll let you know when playoff tickets are available. We'll
talk more about it as we move forward with the Griffins.
I'm Aedis Lombardi. Thanks for your time this morning.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Thank you, guys, I appreciate it.
