We’ve been told that real men stay strong.
But what if the strongest thing you could do… is actually feel?

In this Father Like the Father episode, DJ opens up about the quiet war men fight every day—the pressure to bottle emotions, push through pain, and pretend everything's fine. This is a call to feel again… and to let healing begin.

📖 Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.”

You don’t have to hold it all in.
And you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Take a moment this week and name what you’re feeling.
Say it out loud. Write it down.
Bring it to God. Then bring it to a brother.

You're not less of a man because you feel—it means you’re finally strong enough to lead.

There’s strength in feeling. And there’s power in community.
Join a group of faith-filled dads who are choosing growth, healing, and real connection.

(00:00):
Hey, what's up brothers? It's DJ this.
Episode might be uncomfortable for some of us because I want to
talk about something a lot of men avoid.
Feelings. Yeah.
I said it. But not in a soft or emotional
for no reason kind of way. I'm talking about real strength,
the kind that's secure enough tofeel.

(00:21):
What's? Really going on inside.
Too many of us grew up thinking that emotions were weakness,
that crying was something you. Hide.
That sadness means something's wrong with you.
The scripture. Shows us something different.
Let's look at the shortest. Verse in the Bible. 2 words.

(00:44):
John, 1130. 5 Jesus wept. Shortest verse in the Bible, but
one of the most powerful. Jesus didn't hide his grief.
His sorrow, his heartbreak. And he was the strongest man to
ever live. So.
Why are we pretending we don't feel anything?
Suppressing pain doesn't make it.

(01:06):
Disappear. It just just.
Pushes it down and I don't want to pass silence to my kids.
I want to pass down emotional honesty grounded in faith.
I used to. Bottle everything up.

(01:26):
It's kind of what was taught to me growing up.
That's what my mom did. My dad.
Did. Until one day, I couldn't.
Nate was born. Little baby.
Crying, emotions coming up and. I.
Snapped on my wife and on the little baby.
Like. Just I remember feeling real

(01:48):
angry and just yelling and. Everybody felt scared.
And I remember thinking if I don't.
Start. Feeling this stuff.
I'm going to keep breaking things, I.
Love that was like, I feel like God.
Used that moment. To say.

(02:10):
You can't heal. What you won't emit hurts.
Here's my challenge for you guysthis.
Week do. A check in chart for yourself.
I know it sounds cheesy. At the end.
Of three different. Days this week.
Pause and ask what am I feeling right now?
What did I? Feel in my body.

(02:30):
What triggered it? Did I avoid it or did I deal
with it? Write it down or.
Voice record if. Journaling isn't your thing.
Then talk through one of those moments with a trusted friend.
Your wife or? Drop it in rooted in.
Brotherhood. Real growth starts when we stop.
Avoiding what? We.
Feel and start naming it. If this landed, you're not

(02:55):
alone. We built.
Rooted in brotherhood. To give faithful dads a space to
grow. Open up and lead from the inside
out. It's real talk.
No masks. No pressure to be perfect.
