(00:00):
Most of us see the ruins, but few of us pick up the break.
Hey, it's Alec, and today we arein Part 2 of our series, Rebuild
What's Broke? Last week we talked about when
Nehemiah broke, when he let painin.
This week, it's about what he did next.
He moves from burden to action. Because at some point, every dad

(00:20):
has to decide, will I keep staring at the mess or start
rebuilding something better? In Nehemiah 217 through 18, it
says, Then I said to them, You see the trouble we are in
Jerusalem lies in ruins, and itsgates have been burned with
fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of
Jerusalem, and we will no longerbe in disgrace.

(00:42):
There's a shift here in Nehemiah.
He goes from mourning to moving, from weeping to working.
And some of us need to do the same.
We've been carrying the burden. We've been overwhelmed by our
brokenness in our homes, our minds, our habits.
But now it's time to pick up thebrick.
So how do we do that? One, the main ways, through

(01:06):
prayer, connecting yourself withyou.
This two, it's through habit. We need to change our habits.
You need to change what hasn't been working and see what works.
Apology. You're going to apologize to
those you've hurt. Apologize to your kids, your
wife for the brokenness of what you've let into your home and
boundaries. You need to set those boundaries

(01:29):
to whatever broke you and whatever is bringing that
brokenness into your home and your life.
Set that boundary up so it's notcoming in and build it stronger.
God doesn't need you to fix the whole wall today.
He just needs you to start. You know, there was a time that
I was waiting for motivation to fix what I'd let break.

(01:49):
But healing didn't come with a feeling, It came when I finally
moved. If the first brick I picked up
was prayer, I went to God. I prayed.
What do I do? How do I fix this?
Then honesty. You have to be honest with
yourself because you're the onlyone who can truly be honest with
yourself. To fix things.
It's a hard conversation and then you have to have that hard

(02:12):
conversation with others. But it starts with one brick.
It starts by picking up the first brick and rebuilding, and
it starts to rebuild something better than I had before, then
you have had before. This week I want you to identify
the first brick. One thing you can do to rebuild
what's been neglected. You know, your marriage, your

(02:33):
mindset, your faith, your fatherhood.
Write it down, take the action, start rebuilding.
Pick up that first brick. You don't have to build the wall
this week. You don't have to build the wall
today. You just need to make the first
action and start. If you're tired of staring at
ruins alone, you don't have to do it anymore.

(02:53):
We're rebuilding together in a community of faith filled dabs.
It's called Rooted in Brotherhood and it's completely
free. If you would like to join, click
