Are you ready for the greatest adventure of your life? In my weekly podcast, we explore the adventures, challenges, triumphs, sorrows, and the fun of being a dad. I am the father of 6 kids. My wife and I had four and then God blessed us with 2 more through adoption. I think I have a unique perspective and experience to help fathers become the best dad possible. I also love to interview other men trying to be great dads, step-dads, adopted dads, granddads, and foster dads. Let's help each other become the best men, husbands, and dads possible to leave a legacy that will endure.
If your buddy calls and invites you to a last minute car show, fishing trip, business event you will move mountains, change schedules, to make it happen. But whens the last time you moved things to do get away with your wife or do something she likes? Maybe you were first dating and married you did, but somewhere we lost that interest and passion.
I'm a little late on posting this week's podcast because rather than recording a podcast I was spending time with my beautiful wife on Mother's Day.
My wife loves barbecue so while I was barbecuing steaks, asparagus, and pineapple I had a moment to reflect on my mom, my wife, and the women who have impacted my life. Today I share some of those thoughts
Happy Mother's Day

Yesterday I got a private text message congratulating me and Judie Sedrick for our 35th Wedding Anniversary. This person also commented how he had always felt like his marriage was a burden instead of being founded on friendship and love. I thought I'd share 10 things that have helped Judie and I build our relationship over the past 35 years. I hope these help you and would love to hear what you've found helpful
Last week I had an experience that really got me thinking about how we treat the women in our life. It got me thinking about 3 key things that we need to teach our daughters:
1. You have a voice and deserve to be seen
2. It's ok to be strong, intelligent, beautiful and sexy. (It's not your fault he's a pig)
3. You belong, you are precious, and I love being with you as your dad
I'd love to hear your comments!

What do you do when life hits you with unexpected storms?
For the past couple of days I've been troubled by a post that I saw on Facebook that basically said "Carry Your Own Burden". When I think about the fact that 70% of all suicides are men I think there has to be a better way than "Carry Your Own Burden" or "Pull yourself up by the bootstraps". I explore some thoughts about creating an environment were we can support and love each other through our da...

Today I'd thought I'd share an experience I had as an 8/9 year old boy where I didn't get a present for Christmas, or at least that's what I thought. Sometimes the gifts are right in front of us, we just need to look up.

In this episode we dig deeper into his questions and some of the comments that were made. We'd love to hear your comments and advice.

A lot of us men struggle because we are trapped in the swamp of yesterday. We didn't have a father in the home. One of our parents had an addiction problem. ":Parenting" was administered by physical and emotional abuse and a myriad of other reasons that have left you destitute of a positive role model. How do you break the cycle? How do you change the trajectory?
We tend to act out of a place of pride, anger, or ...

This week I give a shout out to Steve Thompson owner of The Detail Drs in Boise, Idaho. He and his family decided to do 75 hard together. They were doing really well as a family and one of his daughter's missed a day. So what did he do? Rather than let her fail he started over with her. What would you have done? Have a GREAT week! Jody
This week I share some thoughts about taking on the entire weight of the challenges of life on your shoulders and neglecting to include your wife who wants to be part of your life and finding the solution.
I also talk about running into a hurricane of problems and trying to control every aspect as well as stirring up the pot in the name of "solving the problem"
I'd love to hear your thoughts
Cheers

We tend to define our life by a single moment. When in reality it is a series of moments that lead to something tragic or something amazing. A series of moments define our character and who we become. A single moment can ruin a reputation, it can set us on a new trajectory. When we are purposeful in crafting moments we can create a life that is fulfilling and leave a legacy on our children that will last far into their life. What ...
