Devotional:
The Samaritan didn’t just see pain—he stopped for it. His compassion moved him beyond sympathy into sacrificial mercy. He crossed cultural boundaries, risked danger, and gave generously to restore someone society had ignored. Rooted in love, he didn’t ask, “Who is my neighbor?”—he became a neighbor. Rising to shine looks like meeting needs, even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable.

This parable challenges our comfort and calls us to act. It reminds us that compassion without action is sentiment, not mercy. True mercy costs something—time, energy, pride, resources. And yet, every act of mercy reflects the heart of our Savior, who stopped for us in our brokenness.

To live like the Good Samaritan is to live with eyes wide open, hearts softened by grace, and hands ready to serve. May we be rooted so deeply in Christ’s love that we can’t walk past hurting people without offering healing.

Prayer Prompt:
Jesus, open my eyes to see hurting people and move me to act in mercy like You did. Teach me to love beyond barriers and serve without hesitation.
