Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm a bit of a nomad, so these episodes come
to you from wherever I'm living or traveling to at
the time, so I'll share with you what's going on
in my world, from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals,
nature adventures, health discoveries to swimming in hidden Byron Bay beaches.

(00:25):
Come with me as I share my adventures with you.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, welcome to your first Ala Diary.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
For a little bit, we've been in Byron Bay in
Sids and Mouths back to Ala. I think I've been
back officially a week and I'm starting to feel like
a human being again. The jet lag got me this time.
Gang It's here's my thing. I love getting jet lag
going back to Australia because you wake up at like

(00:56):
five am every day and you just go to bed
super early. Where is It's the opposite coming back, so
it's really hard to fall asleep and then you kind
of sleep in and Matte I tried everything under the sun,
like I was taking like herbs for sleeping and loads
of mag and it wasn't hit in the sides. But

(01:16):
I've noticed in the last three days each night, I've
gone to bed about an hour earlier. Like not gone
to bed, should I say I'm always in bed at
like ten, but like I've naturally fallen asleep about an
hour earlier, which tells me I'm through the worst of it,
or at least trying to come through the worst of it.
So if for anyone playing along on Insta, you would

(01:38):
know that the boss of Chengo is still in the
beautiful Northern Rivers Bangers and Byron Bay. He's got some
work keeping in Australia. I've got some really exciting work
here in La So I've got two things I'm filming
in the next few days, which is why I'm recording
this diary just a day early, because I was like, well,

(01:58):
i feel like I'm about to step into a really
busy forty eight hours seventy two hours, so I thought, no,
I'm getting ahead of the pod. So I've got a
really exciting influencer gig that I'm filming in a day
or two.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
And I'm so pumped.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Because it's kind of like my first American influencer gig.
I've done the odd one here and there, but this
is like a brand that I already really love and
so it's just so easy.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
The alignment is there, and then I've got I.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Don't know if I've told you, but I'm filming a
pilot and I'm so flipping excited and so pumped, and
I'm going out today. You know, when I don't know
about you, I'm very virgo and I'm a bit of
a planner, so I'm like, Okay, today, browse Tomorrow, I've
got work at the yog Studes, and then the next
day it's hair, and then it's going to be the

(02:49):
Influencer filming, and then the pilot the day after. So
I'm just kind of like getting myself so ready that
I feel really confident to film and like the best
version of myself essentially. So I'm just in that getting
ready phase. I've for the pilot. I've been sent a
costume brief. So one cool thing that they're doing here

(03:12):
is they bring like you bring your own stuff, and
they're just like, yeah, where this, this, and this.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
So I'm really excited.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
I'm going to take a few costume ideas, but I'm
also going to just have a peruse today through the
shops and just see if I can see anything that
really calls to this character. She's so much fun to
sit in her energy. And I worked on this script
with my acting coach in Melbourne. So I'm feeling really excited. Okay,

(03:37):
so let's talk about La. I've been here for a week.
I flew back exactly a week ago. I did the
classic try to use points to upgrade. For anyone that
does this, you don't know until literally twenty four hours
before you fly if you've got the upgrade or not,

(03:57):
and so you kind of have this weird like anxiety
of like, oh oh shivers, am I an I? And
so I got the text twenty four hours before being like, congratulations,
you have been approved for upgrade. So I got to
fly back business class, which was very fun. So much
gluten free now Corntus business class, so you can kind

(04:20):
of eat pretty healthy.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I had.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I flew from Ballina, which was the airport and Byron
Bay to Sydney, and then the night flight got pushed out,
so I think I spent something like seven hours in
the Sydney lounge just working.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I just had to change my mindset.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I was like, this is your office for the day, lawler,
and so I just changed my mindset. Had some snacks,
had a protein bar and just kind of like clicked
in fun fact, couple of fun facts. So you know,
I did an influence a stay at Beach Sweets Byron
Bay right before I came to LA and part of

(04:56):
their offer is a car service, and they picked us
up in this like beautiful full big as a sedan,
like big, cool, classy car that was fun. Loaded our
suitcases into the car. And then because Boss was staying
with the butto in Byron, he got dropped off first,
and then I got dropped at the airport and I

(05:16):
get to the airport checking in. I do love starting
an international flight at Byron because it's so chill and
you just get there like yeah forty five minutes before
you fly, like and they just check your bags all
the way through to Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
So good.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Anyway, I put my suitcase on the belt and you're
only allowed thirty two kilos that is a maximum for
international travel with Quantus, But you can have two suitcases
I think two for Premium ACONN and three for business class.
But Matt blessed cotton socks so grateful this. He was like,
we are only taking one suitcase each. We're moving around

(05:51):
so much in the timer in Australia. He's like, no,
you do not get to take two. And I was
like it at the time, had a bit of a
huff about it. In hindsight, how lucky it was just
so much easier to only have one suitcase each. Anyway,
I popped it on the scales. I took a photo
over here, thirty three point four kilos and the chick

(06:12):
was like, yeah, it's got to be thirty two.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
And I'm like fuck. So I was like, what do
I throw out?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
And I was like, I'll just throw it some shoes
or something like some old runners or as Americans would say, trainers, and.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
I pulled them out.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
And then the girl at the other counter like the
other contus stuff, and she goes, Nana, they've just increased
the liquids on travel international travel to one hundred meal.
She's like, pull your toiletrys bag out. It's always the heaviest.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
And I was like really.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
She goes yeah, and she's like, just check that none
of them are over one hundred meal. None of them
were over one hundred meal. And then I was able
to put my sneakers back in and Bob's your uncle.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
We got to exactly thirty two kilos.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Lots of fun that one, and I literally took a
video of it getting put on like their plane, and
the person like put physically putting on the plane like
literally being like, whoa, this one's heavy.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
So funny. I put on my insta what else have
I got here?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
I've got the beautiful views from I'm going through my
phone as we do this. I've got the beautiful views
from the aeroplane. I also had had a laser skin
treatment the night before I flew, so I was looking
like a red tomato, which I knew I would, but
I was kind of nervous because obviously being on a
big airplanet kind of on top of that dry skin out.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
But it was totally fun.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I just kept reapplying moisturizerer a SBF. Fun fact when
you fly you have to wear SBF because obviously the
sun comes through the windows. Am I the only wally
that was like, no, no, no, you're inside, doesn't matter,
doesn't matter. Okay, So when I got in the dinner

(07:58):
was that I got oh just art. I got the
Australian tasting plate. This is on the flight by the way.
I got the Australian tasting plate of lambustudo didn't have that.
I just wasn't in the mood for that. Lemon mital
goat cheese that was young marinated goudle olives delish Davidson
plum pickles and pepper leaf leamon tosha.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I don't think I.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Got that either, but I wanted the pickled things, like
I wanted something salty, and so that was great.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
And then for my.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Main I got Barrington Hintland beef filled with braised silver beet,
polenta chips and herb salcer really good. And I didn't
get dessert because I just really wanted to sleep this trip,
like I really didn't want to, Like I didn't have
any drink, Like I had no booze because on the

(08:51):
way over our flight got delayed and we were in
the lounge and I was like, I'm gonna have a
sneaky whiskey. Oh my godness, I had three sneaky whiskeys
because it got delayed and delayed that by the time
I got on the plane, I had like a wee hangover,
like midflight was not good and I was like, okay,
lesson learn not ever going to drink on a long
haul flight again, so this time around, I was just

(09:12):
like chugging the water. Also because I'd had a bit
of a skin treatment, I knew my face was really hot,
and so I was like chugging water. Just made the
healthiest choices I could with in flight food, I ordered
an egg white omelet with herb rocotta for breaking, and
then I had like a sun dried tomato capsicum kind
of like saucy thing on top that was pretty strong,

(09:33):
so I just had to tiny be that.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
And then I got a little.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Bowl of fruit salad so I actually landed, and just
a black coffee, which I wasn't meant to have with
my skin, but I was like, I can't. I can't
deal with like jet lag and you know the caffeine
withdrawal headache.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
I was like, absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
And then clear customs so quick, real quick. That was
that was I always give myself anxiety about that. There
was no drums. It was so easy. And then and
straight home to see the sunset and go to air one.
Of course I got a combo plate. I got the
buffalo cauliflower because if you know, you know, I got
the KAlP noodle pasta. I just got a couple of

(10:11):
chicken tenders with a bit of wuok on the side.
Really yummy, really delish. So that was kind of like
my first note. And I had an amazing sleep because
you're so exhausted. You've probably had a bit of pent
up anxiety, which I know I had, and so you're
kind of just.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Like, yeah, you're feeling it a little bit, you know.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
The next day, I met a friend at this place
called F n F which is a coffee and match
a sneaker shop, so cool.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
It's in Culver City.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I got a strawberry match up because it was later
in the day, it was like three. Otherwise I would
have got a coffee, but I was just trying so
hard to beat this jet lag didn't work. Still couldn't
sleep that night. And then I had another mate cart
in town and we had a match a date atu
and I just got this is a different day. I'm

(11:04):
just blending the whole week. By the way, my brain
is a pink ball machine, as you probably already know.
And I got an oat iced oat matcha with the
sweet cold foam on top, so delicious. And then we
met at Air one and they got what did she get?
Like a wrap and pizza with her BF and then
I I didn't get any food there, but we sat

(11:28):
and chatted for like, I don't know, an hour or
so hour and a half. And then I went in
and got my dinner take away. And it's Sunday, so
I air one on Sundays. They have a special menu,
so I got the gluten free fried chicken, so good
with time, and then I got buffalo colliflower of course,
and the vegan GF mac and cheese, and then I

(11:49):
was like, I really want dessert, and I got a
blueberry crumble and bought this dairy free coconut based yogurt
and it was just like the perfect Sunday Because Matt
and I always go to air One. That's our date
day and it's a bit of a cheat, not cheat,
a bit of a treat. And so I kind of
like relived that this week. I'm sure I'll do it

(12:09):
every Sunday until he gets back knowing me, and then
what else.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Sorry, my friends just messaged and.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
I they want to meet me earlier.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Okay, won't be able to do that.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
That's okay, sorry, Back on deck, Back on deck. And
so yeah, I think I want to keep the Air one.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
I think I want to keep the Air one dates alive.
The other thing I did was I caught up.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
With a mate in my building and I had a
match with him earlier that morning and he had some
yummy goods from Levigne. Now this is a famous bakery
in New York. They're famous for their massive cookies and
I it was so good. They're so good. But he
got the chok chip banana bread, a lemon tea cake,
and this cinnamon thing, the chocolatep banana bread of course

(13:03):
the best. And then when I left, he was like
take it with you and I was like no, and
he's like yes. So that was so fun. And then
of course you've got Gabby. The episode, the episode that
came out on Monday was Gabby Bernstein and so she's
a massive spiritual guru.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
She's written something like ten books.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
She is about to tour in Australia in May in
malb Sid's and Brizzy. So all the details for that
are in the show notes from Monday's EPP and of
course the Hot Seed is with her as well.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
That was so fun.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
That was recorded in Byron Bay a couple of weeks ago,
and she was pitched to me and it was a
quicker interview because I had a very specific and limited
amount of time with her. But what a Champ, What
a Ledge really loved sitting down with her. And then
the EP that you've got on Monday, I'm not sure
who it is. It'll be or Sydney Guest. I'm teaching

(14:02):
myself how to do all the editing because obviously I
don't have boss. He edits the audio of the pods
like this, but I have to do all the video
editing to bring out the audiograms.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
And I did Gabby's just in case You're wondering, and
it was so fun.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
I loved it. It was so so much fun. But
it is like learning a new skill. Speaking of learning
new skills, I have just launched my sub stack, which
is often it's kind of a platform for writers and
I'm trying to time it in with stuff I talk
about here on the pod as well. So my substack
is totally free, you don't need a pay and my
handle is just Yea my Lallaberry, exact same as Instagram

(14:43):
and I'm learning my way around that as well. But
I've just released a Melbourne foodie guide on there. I
did like kind of diary entries from Byron Bay. I
really want to do a SIDS Foody Guide and a
Byron Foody Guide as well, because I feel like it's
an changing beats there's always new places opening and whatnot.

(15:03):
But yeah, I did ten different foody spots in Melbs
that I loved, and as you know, I'm a bit
more of a brunch gal.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
So yeah, substack, check it out. It's totally free too.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Like some people's substacks you can subscribe to and then
choose to pay, but mine is just like a free
for all. I don't have any of the paid stuff
at all in place, so if you hit subscribe to
mine totally free. You just get an email. Whenever I write,
they call them like kind of mini essays. But yeah,
so that's been a lot of fun. A couple of

(15:35):
days of big filming coming ahead. Really excited about it,
a little bit nervous, but I think the nerves are
more excitement than nerves, if that makes sense, because I
know I'm prepared. I know I'll feel really great after
I've got my costumes sorted and I've got my filming schedule.
But yeah, I had a chat with the showrunner last night,

(15:56):
and I got me so excited. It actually took a
lot of my nerves away because it just made me
so excited for the pilot, if that makes sense. So anyway,
I'm really pumped, as you know. That's I'm over here
in America doing Chasing the acting Dream, and it just
feels so nice to be physically being able to be
on a set and doing the thing that I love

(16:18):
so much. Alrighty, well that is me gangles hohoru. I
hope they didn't sound too a radical manic. I have
had a black coffee and then took this like mind
enhancing shot as well, so I'm like, whoof you know

(16:39):
when you're just like it's I feel like I've seen
all those memes when the coffee kicks in and you're
just like running around like a little energizer bunny. I'm
in that mode. That's what I mean as I record
this pod for you right now. Anyway, I think if
lip an amazing, go out and do the shit you love.
And yeah, oh and my new thing, do you know
my new mantra is it's from when I interviewed this

(16:59):
amazing kid called Noah. The POD's coming out soon. And
we talked about success loving speed. Oh, it's my new thing,
success love speed. So I set myself a goal list
each day and I just like just onto the next,
onto the next, onto the next. And I also interviewed
one of my favorite authors, Candice Fox, and she said,

(17:22):
I said, what's a superparent. She said, I'm brave and
she said, oh, do things without thinking overthinking them. And
I'm like, oh, amazing, Whereas I'm an overthinker. So I'm
really trying to work on that myself and with my therapist.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Of course.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
All right, megalve hohoru, have a rip a day and yeah,
go out and do the shit you love.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
