Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to you
from wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time,
so I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health discoveries,
(00:22):
just swimming in hidden Byron Bay beaches. Come with me
as I share my adventures with you. Youloha, Poddary time,
Alaya dish of course, because I'm back. I'm back in
La La Land, all right. The week that was a
pilot went really well. It was lots of fun. It
(00:44):
was just so fun to be around so many talented,
creative just go getters. I was really nervous. I was
really I was very ready and prepared, new on my lines,
all that kind of thing, but I was just nervous.
And I think it was nervous because, like, it's so
different to being on the set of like a morning
TV show or something where you're essentially your own producer,
(01:07):
Like you know which camera you're looking at, you know
where the auto Q is, you kind of know who
you're engaging with, and you know your timestamps and kind
of like the flow of it, whereas this was like
as an actor, you feel like much more of a
creative and you're kind of this conduit that's like, yes,
you learn all your lines, you learn all your beats,
(01:27):
you learn, you know your marks, like where you need
to walk to and from and where you are in
frame and all that kind of thing. But then when
they call action, you're essentially letting whatever comes comes that
set of course, with choices and like tonal choices and
dialect choices and things like that, and so it to
me it's a bit scarier because I'm a control freak
(01:47):
and so, but also it is so rewarding because you
are giving over control and you're just like being present
and being a part of this thing where you are
one piece of the puzzle, which is so nice. So
it was so much fun. We shot in a beautiful
office space. I don't know what I'm allowed to say
and not allowed to say, but I will share like
(02:09):
just kind of like how the day went. We I
think the call time was about eight am. Rocked up,
met the director, met the other actors, and just did
a line run through while essentially all the crew was
setting up in the different part of the office where
we were filming. It was a film set set up
like an office, so there were lots of fun props
(02:32):
and whatnot around. We had the actors kind of had
They called it like an actor's holding room. To me,
it's like a green room. You know, you've got all
your costumes and all that kind of stuff. And then
once the runthrough was done with the director, then like
feedback was given on tone and choices and pace and
(02:52):
things like that, but also on the line, so there
were some line changes. I got given a really funny line,
but it was really hard to learn. On the spot.
I was like, oh my god it because I'm such
an a type personality. I was like, Okay, got to
learn this. But it was so much fun, scary but fun.
Loved it. We'll do it again in a heartbeat. Now.
I just want to do more, you know what I mean.
He had taste for it, and he was like, give
(03:12):
me more. I really want to do more. It was
so so much fun and I really just loved being
part of a collaborative. A collaborative is that the word? Yeah,
A collaborative creative team, Yes, that is what I'm trying
to say. So I loved it. Can't wait to do
it again. So much fun and I can't wait to
(03:33):
see it or come together. I dress with some behind
the scenes photos yesterday, so really excited. Then so that
was Friday. That shoot happened pretty much all day Friday,
and then Saturday I taught yogs and then oh I
didn't teach jokes. Actually I got someone to cover my
yogs class just in case I wasn't. I was filming
(03:56):
for the pilot Friday or Saturday, and then Saturday night
we went out to celebrate beautiful friend's birthday to this
Italian new Italian restaurant in West Hollywood called Elba. It
was amazing, so Alba my, it was like a tasting menutoobs.
We've got to try so many things. First all, they
brought out this like fresh for cart out with a
(04:16):
lavender ricotta, Oh my goodness. And then a few different
types of pastas, some proteins. My favorite pastor though, was
this smoked lemon pasta. Holy Molly, Holy moly. If you're
in La pop it on your list. It's such a
great place to be there. It was so fun to
(04:37):
go out and celebrate a friend's birthday and she's such
a positive force in my life, so it's just really
nice to be like celebrate somebody that's always so positive
and inspiring to be around. And she's an actress as well,
so it's just nice to be around, you know, other
people chasing their dreams. And then Sunday I taught yolks.
(05:01):
And then Monday I had a coffee date with a
mate in like Lost Philis area at a place called Intelligentsia.
They're a chain, so they are all over there in
different parts of LA and they do really good coffee.
I just got a hot drip coffee and it was
really really good. I in Australia. Look, I just I'm
(05:23):
a black coffee gal. I love a long black in Australia.
Here I get hot drip coffee, though more so than Americano.
It doesn't just sit the same for me. And if
I got like I do a love in Australia will
sometimes if I'm at Woods or Roady or somewhere like that,
en Barron, I'll get a dirty chie on almad milk,
but the milk's a little diff here. So I just
am back to black coffee, but it's delish. And then
(05:45):
I walked into air one I hadn't I hadn't done
in a shop, and because I'm here on my own,
Bosso is not here yet, and so I was like, stuff,
and I'm going to go for lunch at Air one
and I just went to the hot bar. Oh my goodness.
I got this chickpea massala kind of thing on some
chimric rice. And then you know how I always get
(06:06):
the buffalo cauliflower. It's like this cooked buffalo cauliflower gluten free,
dairy free deliciousness. But they bought this new one out
and was like a tarhini cauliflower and it's really young.
And then what was it? The third thing I got?
Was it the kale and white bean salad? I feel
like it was. Then I got the kl and white
bean salad. And then to celebrate because I was like
(06:28):
so happy about filming, and I also just filmed my
first American influencer deal as well, and so I was
just like, no, I'm celebrating myself. So I got a
slice of the deep dish pumpkin pie because everyone does
it the best in my opin, and they have it
all year round, even though it's just it's a Thanksgiving
thing here, which is usually around November time, and so yeah,
(06:50):
I was like, stuff at you getting your favorite treat
ever and that was so delish. Okay, So that was
that day. And there's this thing where you can be
an Air one member, and there's two different types membership.
There's like a tonic bar and hot food like grab
and go food membership, and then there's like a membership
for like if you do other kind of shopping Air
one and Boss and I have always talked about it
(07:11):
but never got it. And the day I walked in
this day to get my food. As I was entering,
I literally as I was walking the door, a really
big actor walked straight past me. I don't know why.
I don't want to say his name, because he's there
quite often like Boston. I see him like once a week.
Usually it's gorgeous. And we had to walk past each
(07:33):
other for me to get in and for him to
get out. And I was like, it's a sign, it's
a sign our fave celeber is here. And so I'm
joining as an Air one member. So I just became
an Air one member again, little celebration of self, I thought.
And so now I get like member drinks and points
and whatnot. So I'll let you know what it's like
and then yeah, and then yes, and now we're at Yesterday,
(07:57):
I caught up with a good mate I hadn't seen
for a while. I went to bread Would to see
them and go for lunch at this incredible Japanese place
called Sugarfish. Sugarfish is a chain. They are all over La,
but they do really yummy, fresh Japanese food and the
rice comes out really warm. They have this menu item
called It's not feed me, it's trust me. It's called
(08:20):
trust me, but since it's the same thing and feed me,
so it's trust me. Light we both get you get
you at a marmaie and then you get your hand
roll and then you different types of sushi and it's
just so so yummy. And so we had that for
lunch yesterday and that was so sweet. My mate Alex
took me there and was like, this is a welcome
back to La. It was a very beautiful, lovely lunch.
(08:42):
And then I raced back home to go onto a
podcast myself as a guest, which was so fun. It's
so easy to be a guest on a pod. It
is so much fun and so easy for me anyway.
Whereas when I'm interviewing a guest, like, I don't want
to miss anything. I don't want I want the guests
to feel really safe. I don't want them to feel
(09:03):
like I haven't done my research. So I really go
above and beyond when I'm interviewing. But I put a
fair bit of pressure on myself. Whereas when I'm being interviewed,
I'm like, ah, don't need to prepare. I'm an open book,
like I tell the truth, so it's not like I
need to have planned answers or anything like that. So
I always find going on podcasts is easy and fun
(09:23):
and light and just like a chit chat and a
catch up. So that was fun. I did a podcast,
so I think they're going to release that next week.
I'll share it all over my stories when it comes out.
And then I had my mate cart over for dinner
and I just made of salmon there's really simple, like
chickpea fennel avo salad, and then some just roasted some
(09:45):
little fingling to nearly said tomatoes potatoes simple and traded.
Joe's had this really yummy deal mustard that we both like,
a deal mustard sauce that we both loved and we
put that on it and I just had leftovers them
for dinner before I start recording this. So how cool,
how good? I might I might have mentioned this last
(10:05):
week or ps. The other thing my friend Catt and
I did is we did angel card readings on each
other and we pultimately fun cards. That was really nice.
The other thing that I might have mentioned last week
is that I have just launched a substack. It's a
totally free substack, but if you want to, like, I'm
just doing like weekly updates and just trying to, like
(10:28):
to be honest, like learn it and understand it and
get a layer of the land. And a new substack
will probably come out tomorrow because I'm due to right one.
And it's so fun. Actually the last one came out
fight I'm ahead. It's so much fun, and you know,
you can write short paragraphs or you can do like
diary entries, and so I'm just playing around with it
(10:48):
and kind of learning it. But my substack handle is
the same as my Instagram handle, which is Yamo Laula
Berry and it's just fun. I really like it, but
I'm new to it, so i'm learning it. So if
you're on substance, check me out, and please bring on
feedback and let me know what you'd like to read
more of, because at the moment it's kind of diary
entries and a little bit travel guide because Boss and
(11:09):
I've been doing some travel now. I also went to
Target earlier this week to get Now what was I
getting at Target? It was something very specific, Oh, I
had to get for the pilot. I just wanted like
a little cami for under a skirt, just as like
a backup option. Anyway, So cheap clothes at Target. One
(11:31):
of this camis little like baby blue cami was three
dollars seventy five, like crazy shit. Anyway. I also went
past the book section because I haven't read a spicy
fantasy for quite some time. Like I've done all your
Fourth Wings, I've done all yet Akatars, and I keep
seeing on TikTok this book called Quicksilver, and I think
the shadow Daddy's name is Kingfisher, and I think he's
(11:54):
like nearly a thousand years old or something like that. Anyway,
I bought it. I'm probably going to start it this weekend,
and just wanted to put it out there because you know,
I love a little spicy book review. But I haven't
read for quite some time fiction. I've read a fair
bit of nonfiction, like Over the Summer and stuff and
some really cool acting books, but I haven't read nonfiction
(12:15):
and so in a while. So this will been nice
to kind of like dive into some nonfiction. I'll probably
start reading it over the weekend. I reckon, I'm going
to say, what else did I have to tell you?
I feel like I've got this incredible friend, beck and
we send each other voice notes, and I feel like
this is a voice note to Bed because right at
the end, I'll be like, all right, all right, what
(12:37):
else have I got to tell you? And we let
roll over like anything else we forget to tell each other,
and then we sign off each other's voice note with
You're the best, chuck out the rest, Love Becky. If
you ever hear this, so in my brain just and
I was like, what else have I got to tell you?
That was what I wanted to tell you, guys. So I,
like I mentioned a little bit earlier, I've just done
my first American influence a deal which is so exciting.
(13:00):
It's with this company called Magic Mind, and it's basically
this little mental performance shot that you take back as
like a drink. It's like found in the refrigerator section
of like here, like the Albertson chain shorts stores here,
like Albertson's, Vaughn's Pavilions, and it's got like Green Tea
(13:21):
and Elfianine and New Tropics, Ushwa Ganda and anyway, they
reached out to me when I was in Australia and
were like, hey, are you interested in doing a deal
with us? And I just you know, went back and
forth to them with my Aussie digital reps and got
the deal. And so that's my first real proper legito
(13:43):
American influencer deal. And that's my first one. It just
went live today as I record this, so for you
guys tomorrow. So to the people that looked at looked
at it and wat shouldn't commented, thank you. Obviously that
all helps with the stats and the algorithm. So I
really appreciate all this sport because that's my first ever
proper work gig as an influencer in America. So that's
(14:06):
really cool. That's really really fun. And then I'm doing
the thing that I do at the very end of
every single time that we chat as I go through
my stories and make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Yes
when I went to my when I went to lunch
with my friend yesterday, I got to catch up with
her beautiful dogs, Frank and Squid that I used to
dog sit back in the day. And then, oh, do
(14:29):
you know what I did do? And I forgot to
tell you about. There's this really cool hippie shop in Hollywood,
and it's a candle reading shop where they sell these
candles with all these amazing essences in them. So you
can get like candles for love, like you can get
a phoenix candle for letting go and rising from the ashes.
You can get I've got a candle called come to Me,
(14:49):
which is meant to bring really awesome relationships to you
for like work opportunities and you know, exciting projects. And
so I took my mate there and I wanted to
get a Prezzi for my mate whose birthday it was,
And so I went and got her a prezze, which
was all around like acting and booking that star lead role.
(15:12):
And these candles the way they work, these spiritual candles
are they're like they're altar candles, so they're tall, long, candles,
but they've got these essence within them, and so you're
meant to meditate, light the candle, set an intension, and
then let it burn. And they burn for like twelve days.
So obviously if you leave the house, you have to
(15:32):
put the candle out, but you don't blow it out
because you don't want to blow out your intention or wish.
You put a plate on top of it, and then
when you get home, you relight the candle or like,
you know, the next day if you don't want to,
you know, I feel like, get home and you go
on a bed, like and the next day you relight
the candle. You think of the intention and then you
re light it and just away it goes. And then
(15:54):
at the end of it, after you've burnt it, you
go back into the candle shop and they will re
the wax for you. They will read the bottom of
the wax and you get this kind of like spiritual
guidance kind of lesson and they'll tell you what you need.
I did it. The last time I did it was
literally it would have to be over ten years ago,
(16:15):
and I was going through a really tough what was
going to become a breakup, and I didn't know, like
I was trying to figure out if I should like
go avidd or like fight for it, and da da dah.
It was that like muddy stage. And I remember I
took the candle in. They told me to burn this
candle called Diana, which is like a navy blue candle,
and I took it in and they were like, oh,
(16:36):
You've got so much more work to do around this.
How funny. And then I think I took another candle
back with me to Australia and burnt it, but obviously
never took it back to LA to get it read.
So interesting because I stayed in Australia for a little
bit longer after that. But yeah, this is the first
time I've been back, and the one that I got
this time was really all about, like, yeah, drawing in
(16:57):
people for Korea. So they do the candles and oils
for like success in the arts because obviously we're in
our laders. It's the mecha of like actors and writers
and directors and all of that kind of thing. Anyway,
really cool, so I did that as well. So that
is me, Gangles, that is me. That's my update. I'm
(17:17):
going to sign off today. The way I sign off
with my voice notes with the beautiful Beck, and that
is all right. Hooru, you're the best. Chuck out the
rest
