Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to you
from wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time,
so I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health
discoveries to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay Beaches. Come with
(00:25):
me as I share my adventures with you. Hello, Los
Angeles pod Diary coming to you this week, just regular
good old Los Angeles pod diary. I'm recording it a
little in advance. I don't know why I always feel
like I need to admit that, but I am. Because
tomorrow we're going to meet Mum in Palm Springs, do
(00:49):
a night in Palm Springs, and then do two nights
in Joshua Tree with Mum and the Bossacheno, and I
just thought for three night's packing on my pod gear.
And also I won't be able to give you a
proper diary because i'd still be mid the trip. So
next week you'll get a Palm Springs Joshua Tree diary episode,
(01:11):
and I'll still tell you a bit about what we've
got planned as well. But first of all, the week
that was now, obviously I spent last week in Memphis
and Nashville. I got back really late, I believe Tuesday night.
I worked all day Wednesday. So I've worked Wednesday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
(01:37):
and I'm gonna go into work in a couple of
hours as well and Monday. So I've been working, but
I've been able to do some curl things In the
week that was. I had a movie date with my
friend Weston and we saw a movie called Dangerous Animals,
which is an aussy movie think shark horror thriller, vibes.
(01:59):
Definitely got a serial killer. Jy Courtney plays a serial
killer and it's really flipping curl so cool to see
the trajectory of some Aussie actors just kind of like
really popping off in this movie. And it would have
been so much fun film. It looks like it was
actually was that nerd that stayed till the very end
(02:21):
of the movie. This is what my dad always does
as well, when we go to the movies to see
where it was filmed. He always says, Oh, I'd really
like to know where it's This feature was filmed, and
so I did a dad and I said to my
friend Wes and can we Sataly? And I really want
to see where it was filmed. It was predominantly filmed
on the Goldie and there are settings where it's like
surface Paradise, snapper Rocks. These all traditional breaks or very
(02:47):
much existing breaks on the Gold Coast and you can
see there's shots a shore done on like Burly Beach
and it was very cook. I used to live fun Factor,
I used to live on the Gold Coast. For me,
so many of the locations, I was like, oh my goodness,
I feel like I've been there. So if you're an
Aussie and you haven't seen it yet, Dangerous Animals, it's
(03:07):
got an actress from Yellowstone in it. It's got Josh
Houston in it as well, and he came up in
Heart I want to say Heartbreak High, then June Prophecy
and now this and he's crushing it. So cool just
to see it all, and I want I'd love to
know a bit of BTS because there's a lot of
like shark moments and encounters and whatnot in the episode
(03:34):
in the movie. Also went and checked out a new
movie theater I've not yet been to. It's called the
Regency Theater Group, and they were in Van Nights. So
Van Nights is kind of like The Valley, the beginning
of the Valley, but it was the only place that
still had this movie running. We've been wanting Western I,
so here's the thing. Wesson loves a horror and I
love a shark, so we thought, oh, our two worlds
are colliding. We must see this together. So that was
(03:56):
really really nicely fun. Had a STAB's date after fun
fact the match of there is great. Just ask for
it sugar free, one pump of sugar free vanilla and
I got it on oat milk and iced and it
was delish, Okay, So that was awesome. Another thing that's
happened in the week that was as Boss and I
had this really fun just like LA date. We went
(04:16):
to a burger place called Heavy Handed, so they're known
for their loaded fries. They put pickles on their fries,
special sauce, cheese, and fried onion soym and then we
just both got single cheeseburgers and it came as a combo,
so that me meant I got to have a diet
coke with it, which has been touted on TikTok as
(04:39):
a fridge cigarette, which now Boss and I have said.
He goes, you can have a fridge cigarette. I said, yeah,
I think I might something about a crispy diet coke
with a chip. Oh that's very good, not healthy. I
definitely don't have my nutrition cap on right now, but
I share with you real. And then Boss and I
went to Salt and Straw, which is really famous ice
cream chain here in Los Angeles. Boss got the Sneakerdoodle flavor,
(05:03):
which is essentially a cinnamon cookie cinnamon sugar cookie vibes,
and I got a molted cookie dough both delish, and
then like all of like three different fire engines rocked
up and all the fieries got out and were getting
their favor ice cream together. That was actually really really cute.
So the Boss and I did that at the yoga
(05:25):
studio on Saturday because it was International World Yoga Day
or International Yoga Day. I taught yogs in the morning,
then I ran a nutrition workshop in the day, and
then we had lots of activations going and so there
was all kinds of like freebies and snackos and balloons
everywhere and supplements and fun stuff. I also caught up
(05:46):
with my mate Allison, who used to be my boss
at said studio, so it was really nice to see
her and just have a good old chin wag. So
that has pretty much been the week that was. I
feel that has pretty much been it. I haven't been
reading any books. I've packed a book to take to
Palm Springs and it's an acting book. So I just thought, oh,
(06:07):
I haven't been in class for a little while. I
really want to enroll into a class soon, but I
haven't been in class for a little while, so I
just want to like re evoke that passion. There's something
really spiritual about Joshua Tree as well, and so Boss
and I both use it as like a spiritual reset.
So the place that we're going to stay at in
Palm Springs is called Terror Terror Palm Springs, so t RRA.
(06:34):
Now it's kind of like I would call it a
wellness hotel. The rooms. I think we're just staying in
a king Like what did I book? It says, hits
here's the this isn't a plug, by the way, but
the hot here's the hot tip. Because Palm Springs and
Joshua Tree gets so hot in the summer, like I'm
(06:55):
talking forty five to fifty degrees, to the point that
we today got the AC fixed on the car because
it just can't you can't go there without AC. It's
so hot that no one goes or less people go.
So you get all these really good deals. So for
like one hundred and fifty bucks, I got boss and
I stay at this like wellness hotel. So it says
here this it's called Terror Palm Springs. Discover our thoughtfully
(07:17):
appointed suites and rooms where modern desert luxury meets innovative
wellness amenities for a deeply restorative stay. Each space offers
its own unique features and comforts, inviting you to explore
and select the perfect sanctuary for your personal journey to
well being. It's an a eveding I would say inspired place,
(07:38):
but it has like cold plunges. It has a rain
room which I can't wait to check out. It has
a sauna, so all this fun stuff. You know, all
this fun stuff and looks gorge and you can even
like book a movement room where there's like yoga yoga
(07:59):
man out on the patio, like just fun. Such a vibe,
such a little vibe, so I can't wait to stay theres.
You've got fire pits, cold plunge. Yeah, amazing, and it
just feels very stylish and elevated and lux and all
the fun stuff. So anyway, I then went ahead and
because basically there's a special on right now where you
(08:21):
get like a certain amount of your state plus seventy
five dollars to use towards a massage treatment. So I
was like, oh, say less, So I've booked myself. I
hope I said this right and Abbi Hianga, Abbi High
Younger Herbal massage. It's a rhythmic full body massage rooted
in ancient a Evadic tradition. Warm herbal oils selected for
(08:45):
your unique consultation and massage with specific stroke designed to
restore balance. This is a deeply nourishing treatment. It comes
the nervous system, improved circul circulation promotes profound relaxation. Heated
oils penetrate the tissue, tension melts away while relieving the
skins soft and restored. Benefits continue to unfold in the
(09:09):
following days. So that's what I'm getting. And I got
seventy five dollars. So I booked a sixty minute one,
which is one hundred and ninety five, but I got
seventy five buckos off, so it'll be one hundred and
twenty bucks. So yeah, that's what I've booked. And then Mum,
Matt and I are all staying at an Airbnb in
Joshua Tree. That was just from researching Airbnb's and Mum
(09:31):
really wanted a pool, so it's gonna have a pool
with it as well. I packed a couple of pairs
of toggos. It's also a really good time of the
year to see the Milky Way Sea, shooting stars, all
that kind of thing, so that's why we wanted to
make sure we stay in the Joshua Tree as well,
because the visuals for seeing stars like you don't want
(09:51):
to be in a lit like city or more urban area,
which obviously Palm Springs is. So we've got a night
in Palm Springs, two nights in Joshua Tree. I get
back night and then I go straight back to work
the next morning and teach yogs and all the fun stuff,
and then Mom flies out that night. She definitely wants
see Griffith Park, so we're going to make sure we
take her to Griffith Park. Observatory. I put forward one
(10:13):
of Quentin Tarantino's theaters. There's a couple in La Ones
called the New Beverly. The other one's called the Vista,
and I was like, you know, it's very old school,
kind of like cool vibes. I think she's more No,
I want to get to Griffith Park, So I think
we'll make sure we get her to Griffith Park as well,
and then I work that Saturday, and then I take
(10:34):
her to the airport as soon as I get home
from work. So yeah, fun times. And she's had a
ripper adventure. She's been to San fran to Chicago, got
the train through like Colorado and the Rocky Mountains, I believe,
And it's called a Zephyr train. It's meant to be
some like really gorgeous way of exploring and seeing America.
(10:57):
How cool. So she's having the time of her life.
And then we'll just get a couple of nights with
her in Joshua Tree. Of course, we're going to take
her to our favorite haunts, like Pappy and Harriet's. They
that is such a treat. We love going to Pappy
and Harriet's. Can't wait. I think Boss is in tattoo mode,
and I think he really wants to get a tattoo
(11:17):
while we're in town. I made too. I've been toying
with a few ideas. I haven't got any yet, but
I really want to get just a couple of simple ones.
So yeah, that's kind of where that's kind of the update.
I have just booked a really exciting ad campaign with
this pot of Rooney, so I'm about to record a
(11:38):
six ads, have fun six ads for the pod. So
I'm wrapped about that. So that's a big thank you
to you for listening and tuning in and all the
fun things. You know. And the episode that came out
on Monday was A Guy a full travel guide to
both Memphis and Nashville. Obviously Nashville only spent an afternoon in,
but it really covers downtown Nashville. You know, if you
(12:03):
were just like into music and want to do what
I did, I really deep deep dove Johnny Cash and
I did the Country Music Hall of Fame and museum,
and I did it all in one day, so doable.
They're so close to one another, that's why it's so easy.
I didn't do the ground or opery. That's actually quite out,
like that's quite a hike away, and I thought, nah,
(12:25):
I don't want to like blow loads of cash on
ubers when I'm on a bit of a time cruncher. Anyway,
so I stayed constantly. I stayed downtown and then I
just added like I was like okay, and I just
got my bearings with it. I got a map as
soon as I got in, and then I just got
my bearings. So that was really nice, all right. I've
also done an angel card. As we've been talking, I
(12:46):
have been pulling, shuffling and pulling oracle cards for you
because I'm back in LA and back at home. So
bottom of the deck is protection you, your loved ones,
and your possessions are safe and protected by Heaven. Well
I hope that is for me, because I lost my
sunglasses this week and I hope they show up somewhere
top of the deck. Set your sites higher, increase your standards,
(13:11):
and expect more for yourself. Don't settle. There's a big
astrological thing going on with Mars entering Virgo right now,
and it's all about leveling up, and like big leveling
up for the mutable signs, which is Virgo Sagittarius, Pisces
in Gemini. I believe, Okay, past, I've pulled the past,
(13:34):
so you know how I pull three cards past worthiness
know that you deserve to receive good in always. That
kind of ties in with the set yourselves, set your
sites higher. The current time is playtime. The dolphins know
the importance of playing as joy creates miracles and manifestations.
And then a bunch of cards dropped out for the
(13:56):
fourth bit, so I just like, let them all be here,
and then I'm going to pull one extra. But the
first one was this is for the future. Explore your options.
It's time to take a look at other possibilities. It's
a good time to make changes. The card that came
out straight after that, make a decision. Feeling stuck or indecisive,
listen to your intuition and make a decision. Tranquility, make
(14:19):
time to relax, be still and enjoy your solitude, indulging
in much needed self care. And then dream big, let
go of small thoughts about yourself, see yourself succeeding, and
then blessed change A major life change brings great blessings.
This is all feeling very Mars virgo vibes I feel
(14:39):
like I think this is all like huge big changes.
Apparently this astrology pattern hasn't happened in one hundred and
sixty five years. I'm just pulling one more. Oh, how
good synchronicity. Your prayers and questions are being answered by
synchronistic events. Notice them in order to increase their flow.
(15:01):
All right, kill kill kill, So there's your card pool.
Next week's diary will be more about I'll tell you
everything we did in Palm Springs. I have a substack
as well, so I like to write about it all
on subsacks. So if you like to read as well
as listen, then totally check out my substack because I've
(15:21):
done a Nashville Guide, I've done a Memphis Guide, lots
of Byron guides in their Melbourne Guide, Sydney travel Guide,
and then you're going to get a Palm Springs travel
Guide plus a Joshua Tree travel guide as well. So
that will all be on my substack. My substack is
totally free. It's just your my Lawla Bury, same as
my Insta. And then the other thing I wanted to
(15:43):
mention I was I nearly forgot about it, but right
before I hit record, a client booked in with me
for one on one coaching. So I just want to
let you know I'm available for one on one coaching,
whether it be for the health and wellness stuff, but
the most common stuff I actually get booked for is
for coaching around if you have an idea around a book,
book or a podcast and you're like, I don't I
have kind of got this idea and I don't know
(16:04):
how to bring it to life. I am essentially your
cheerleader and I help you bring it to life. And
I have a very you know, I have four virgos
in my chart, so I have a very analytical and
logical and like process to getting things done, and I
love to get things done. So I am, yes, a cheerleader,
but I'm also in your corner to help you literally
(16:28):
achieve whatever those goals are. So yeah, I just want
to let you know. Just email me Lola at lolaberry
dot com if you're interested in any of the coaching.
I have just opened my books back up and I
have some awesome clients I love working with. But one
of the emailed me literally rite before I hit records.
I was like, okay, perf, this is a good reminder
(16:48):
to mention it. So all you do is email me
Lola at Lolaberry dot com and Lola is about hello,
oh my god, did I just have a brain fut la?
And then Berry is b r. Why in America they
think I say Lula Berry, They think it's Barry, but
it's Berry. Okay, go out there, go live that dream.
(17:13):
Make the changes you need to make according to the cards.
Make time for play, make time to reset, and then
make your decisions. So like create the space to have
a clear mind is my goal. And that's really what
Boss and I are using Joshua Tree for. We just
want to full reset. There's this place we go to
called Brujarralixaba and we get these like heart opening lattes
(17:34):
and they're so good and they're just so good for
like realigning and getting really clear on your goals and
your dreams and your aspirations. All Right, heoro the best
thing ever. Fun episode coming out on Monday as well.
I'm about to check with the guests that they're comfortable
that it comes out. But really funny person, really great
app all recording in Sydney. All right, make a love
(17:57):
my friends. Hooru Balie
