Welcome back to the LA Diary!

Here's all the things I got to do over the last week living in Los Angeles:

“I am back to accept all roles immediately, I can pick and choose what role I want to play and am sought after and contacted for several roles continually. Divine order. Divine order. Divine order.”

My psychic friend Denise taught me this and whenever I feel flat to rest this phrase over and over. And can I tell you, I do! More often that I might like to admit.

This week’s been a mixed bag; I did such a fun self tape as a nurse for a procedural drama, it was so much fun. The second I put the scrubs on I got nervous, but like good nervous if that makes sense. Fingers and toes are crossed, would love this one to come to life.

I’ve also filmed a fun influencer campaign for a place I already love, it’s a health spot called Erewhon and a new smoothie launched this week in collaboration with Travis Scott and Magic Mind, so I got to go in, test it out and make a reel.

Then on the days I don’t have auditions or filming commitments I feel less productive which is total BS. I’m such an A-type and completely addicted to getting shit done. The Summer in Los Angeles is notoriously shitty for actors because everyone heads away for a Euro Summer. But I remember last year thing really picked up in September so i’m using this time to get myself feeling ready for the opportunities that will come.

I have also discovered another Mumford & Sons song that I absolutely love; it's called October Skies and its from their “Delta” album. 10/10

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your Diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to from
wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time, so
I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health
discoveries to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay Beaches. Come with

(00:25):
me as I share my adventures with you. Hello, Gangles
Pod Diary coming to you from Los Angeles. Back in
LA took Mom on all the adventures. Monday's episode was
a travel guide of Palm Springs, Pioneertown and Joshua Tree,
which was the three places that we took Mum right

(00:47):
before she headed back to Australia. And then I think
she had one day in La went to Griffith Park.
She did, I took her to Griffith Park. But then
the next day she did like a Hollywood celeb bus
tour loll so cute. And then I think it took
herself to air one and then because I was working

(01:08):
that day, and then I got home from work and
dropped her at the airport. So she's back home now.
She was here for a full month, but we kind
of like hung out with her at the start of
her trip, the end of her trip, and then obviously
I went to Memphis with her. But I think she
loved it. She had Chicago, Washington, San France. She did

(01:28):
it this like very scenic train trip I think, I
want to say, like from Chicago to San France, and
it looked beautiful. So she had the time of her life.
Matt and I had a lot of fun in Joshua Tree,
that's kind of like our favorite of the High Desert,
and of course Pappy and Harriet's, and we went to

(01:51):
Bruja and had those like heart Elixa lattes that are
meant to open your minds, like your spiritual mind as well.
So that was amazing. And then you know, when you're
playing tour guide sometimes you're like I need a holiday
from the whole day that kind of vibe. So we
were like, all right, Sunday, we just had a date day.

(02:12):
We went to the movies. We saw the f One
movie with Brad Pitt. Loved it. It's quite long, but
loved it. The score is by Hans Zimmer. It's just
a really good It reminds me, It reminds me This
is for the nineties kiddos. It is like a modern
version of Days of Thunder with Tom Cruise playing Coul
Trickle and Brad Pitt Pays plays a character called Sonny

(02:35):
Hayes here and it kind of reminded me of that,
Like there were a lot of like similarities in their
themes of it all, and Brad Pitt was amazing. The
cast was really good. It's just a fun watch. And
they used the same cameras and camera set up as
Top Gun Maverick. You know how they had those like
cutting edge cameras that were going into the cockpit of

(02:58):
the planes. Same ballgame with the F one cars and
Brad Pitt was driving his car. How wild. Anyway, a
lot of fun. It's a really good movie. You just
want a really good, like Hollywood blockbuster movie. Would definitely recommend.
I have pretty much just gone straight back into work mode.
I have had a couple of Air one dates. Well.

(03:20):
I did my first influence a deal with Air one
and that came out yesterday, and that was with Magic Mind,
which is like a mind adaptogenic little shot and it's
all about like calm energy, clear mind, and less stress.
And they've done a co Lab with air One and
Travis Scott and brought out this celebrities smoothie and so

(03:43):
as part of my influencer deal as a partner of
Magic Mind, I went in tried this movie and then
brought it home and recreated it with the Boss. So
that was a lot of fun. We did that yesterday.
That also came out yesterday, and it's exciting because I'm
trying to do more influencer deal though here, but of course,
like nobody knows me over here, so it's just like

(04:04):
a bit of a usually a bit of a slog,
but then when you get when they come through, they're
unflipp and real and so much fun and totally aligned.
So that was yesterday, and then I went to Boss
and I had a date I think on Sunday, the
same day that we had the f One went to
the f On movie. We had an air One date.
We love our air One dates. Anyway, I had a

(04:25):
really early start the next day and so I got
a coffee smoothie so I wouldn't wake him up with
like grinding coffee beans. And it was called a Micuna
Cold Brew Smoothie and it had mccuna cacao superfood protein,
cold brew concentrate, coconut milk, coconut water, banana, walnuts, mesquite, Rachi, Lions,

(04:46):
main Maca, his shoe, Woo Dandy blend, and maple soup.
It was pretty good. It was like a banana chok smoothie.
Less on the coffee, more on the banana choco flavors,
I would say. But I was like, Oh, I've got
to tell them about that. I've been sent some fun
influence and stuff. I've got a film, The Savo, So

(05:07):
I do feel like the American influencer stuff is kind
of starting slowly to like coming up in here, Like
this is my fourth or fifth year here now, so
it's taking a bit of time, but I'm happy that
it's starting to kind of roll in the right direction. Oh, Matt,
and I've been watching a show on Amazon called Overcompensating,
very funny. It's a comedy. It's a comedy about a

(05:30):
gay guy that is in the closet and so he's
overcompensating to be a straight guy essentially, and it's like
college life and all of that. Charlie XCX is in
it as well, and I think she's a producer on
the show. But we've finished that season. We really really
liked it. It's a really fun comedy, but with like

(05:51):
meeting under it. I think that's why I love shows
like ted Lasso so much, because it's got this like
hope and meeting underneath it. And I would say Overcompensating
is definitely a com but there is like like deeper
themes and meaning underneath it as well. I would say,
I saw this thing this week on Insta and I
post it to my substack. It's a quote and it

(06:12):
sounds really negative the first time you read it, and
then when you read it backwards, it's super positive. So
laziness kills, ambition, anger kills, wisdom, fear kills, dreams, ego kills, growth,
jealousy kills, peace, doubt kills confidence. And now we're going
to read it the opposite way. We're going to read

(06:33):
it right to left. Ambition kills, laziness, wisdom kills anger,
dreams kill fear, growth kills, ego, jealousy kills, peace, doubt
kills confidence. How cool. I thought it was really cool anyway,
and I was like, oh, I'm going to share that

(06:53):
with everybody on their Potter Rooney And then essentially we've
been and so Australians understanding, We'll understand this. But I've
just stopped been doing all my Australian tacks. Oh my goodness.
It's so stressful because in America you do tax at
the start of the year, and then in Australia you
do you tax in the middle of it, and I
obviously have to do both. And I'm like, Holy Mac,

(07:15):
the stress of it all is. I spent all of
today like financial planning. So I know that's not really
fun to share, but I always share real and honest
with you. Every time I did a fun audition for
a procedural drama, a medical procedural drama, and I was like,
I'm gonna get the whole kitt kaboodle. So I got scrubs. Boss,
order me scrubs, a stethoscope. I have blue blocker glasses

(07:37):
that I wear when I want to look like I
need to wear glasses for auditions, So I had glasses.
I had some rubber gloves. I asked my boss at work.
I was like, can I take a pair of rubber
gloves for this audition. She's like, yeah, go for it.
So I had a pair of rubber gloves and I
had a little like disposaball face mask for this audition,
and I was playing a head nurse. Was so much fun.

(07:58):
It ended up actually being an improv scene, which I
was a little bit like not nervous about, but like
apprehensive about because I'm such like a rule follower, a
type stickler, learn the lines perfectly kind of personality. And anyway,
it worked. It was so much fun. So basically, I've
just been submitted for a role and fingers and toest cross.
So if you want to send some lucky vibes and

(08:21):
juju my way, please go for it. I would flip
and love that. What else have I got to tell you?
But I think everything that's happened literally like after Mum left,
Literally we have just been go, go go, like we
haven't stopped. This is my first day off since Mum

(08:43):
left other than the day we went to the movies,
and I just feel like I haven't stopped. Boss has
been doing all of his like la admin staff, so
it's just been one of those weeks. Though. He had
a really cool work event he went to on one
of the movie lots here like a proper soundstage, and
that looked really really cool. He did that this week alrighty,

(09:06):
how I feel like that was a very quick update
for you, because really, in all honesty, the if I
do a pod diary of Joshua Tree, Palm Springs and Pineytown,
all of that is in the Monday yep. Oh, and
Mum is the hot seat guest ps QTI. So Mum's
the hot seat guest, and then this is your Friday diary.

(09:29):
Of course I need to tell her that she's in
that because I know she'll want to listen to it.
All right, I've got my oracle cards here. I'm going
to do a reading for you. So everyone asks what
these ones are. So these are the magical Mermaid and
Dolphins cards by Dorian Virtue. And the way that I
pull is the way that my nan taught me to read,

(09:49):
and that is past, present, future. And then if a
card like tells me to grab it, I grab it.
And then I always like to look at the bottom
and the top of the deck, just because I think
gives a little bit more insight. Anyway, the card for
the past is alchemy. You have the Midas touched right now,
and every project you begin turns to gold. Amazing. This
is for right now, this second, the present what's your

(10:10):
thoughts is important to only think about what you desire,
not what you fear. I really slip into this one.
The future. Now, the future can be in a minutes time,
an hour's time, a day's time, a week time. Except
Heaven's help. You've prayed for help, so get out of
your own way and let Heaven help you. Well. For me,
I have therapy this afternoon, so I'm going to say

(10:32):
that that is therapy is going to be great. Then
a card that kind of like just felt like I
felt like grabbing is around. It's called worthiness and know
that you deserve to receive good in all ways. And
then on the bottom of the deck you've got Yes,
your intuition is correct, take action accordingly. And then top

(10:54):
of the deck is blessed. Change. A major life change
brings you great blessings. So there's a few cards there.
Ignore what doesn't resonate with you, Take what resonates with you.
Card one Alchemy. You have the Midas touch right now,
every project you turn you begin turns to gold. Watch
your thoughts is Card two. It's important to only think

(11:16):
about what you desire, not what you fear. Card three,
Except Heaven's help you prayed for help, So get out
of the way and let Heaven help you. Card four
Worthiness know what you deserve, receive good in all ways.
Card five. Yes, your intuition is correct, Take action accordingly.
Card six blessed change. A major life change brings you

(11:37):
great blessings. I think I love that final card, the
blessed Change one. I feel like I'm kind of in
the grind in LA right now, Like I feel like
I'm just kind of like in the motion of it
all and in kind of like a feeling that this
might be an overshare, but a feeling that I really
don't like. And I think it's because I have a
sagittary as rising in my tyme is feeling stuck or

(12:00):
feeling trapped. That's like my like or feeling like my
wings eclipped, or sometimes say to Boss, I feel like
my wings a clip. I don't like that feeling and
feeling caged, which means I have to feel free, right
or freedom is a very important value system that I
need to feel like I have access to or am
And it's that blessed change feels like it's a good

(12:21):
thing that's coming because I do feel a little not stuck,
just like I'm in this constant grind right now, and
you're like, you're probably thinking, Lola, you were at Joshua
Tree last week, you were at Palms, You're in Memphis
in Nashville two weeks before that. Totally totally, I totally agree.
But I'm someone that just has to feel free and

(12:43):
like the master of my own destiny. That's kind of
like that's my whole jam. And I think like at
the moment, for whatever reason, I'm sure my therapy session
this afternoon is going to help me like unpack and
process and understand this. But for some at the moment,
I feel a little stuck. I feel a little trapped.
I feel a little bit like confined and like my

(13:07):
wings can't spread properly. And I would just say that
that's like and I have this feeling as well, like
I'm always chasing my tail, like, m fuck, I don't
have more time or why can't I get enough done
a date? Like that kind of feeling. I'm not sure
where it's coming from, other than I'm really excited about
projects like influencer deals are so exciting and I just

(13:28):
recorded a really cool podcast ad so fun, so exciting.
All the audition stuff so exciting, but it's like I
want it to happen more, more frequently, and I want
it to happen faster, like I want to book an
acting gig yesterday. So I'm kind of in that mode
of like being impatient, trying to like get and everything
is totally working behind the scenes, but I'm in that like, ah,

(13:51):
that kind of mine. I thought, that's my energy right now,
and I'm sure Boss would totally agree that that's energy
I'm in right now. Anyway, didn't expect to share that
with you, but I think this is all around yeah,
just needing to really much the meat of my own drum.
Now Monday's episode, Friends, you have got Mitch Drury. He's

(14:12):
so funny, He's lovely and wonderful. Unfortunately, though, the video
files were corrupted for some reason. I'm not sure why
It's happened to all the episodes I recorded in Sydney,
which is essentially the next five episodes. So the audio
files of f Ingrat fine, perfect, no notes, but it

(14:32):
just means like when I go to post about them
and release like in how on on Monday mornings, I
usually release an audiogram with that guest, it means that
I am going to be using like whatever footage I
can get, or if I don't have footage, it'll be
a static. So just bear with me. If you're like
I didn't see a video for Monday's EPP, like, just

(14:53):
like subscribe to the pod so that you will still
get the episode because there's such rip a guest with
great stories and I loved interviewing all five of those guests.
So yeah, I'm just wrapped that the audio files are
happy days and we you know, still can bring all
the episodes out, but they'll be promoted probably slightly differently.

(15:14):
All right, Well that's me, that is me. Friends, I
am Matt and I are about to go and have
a little air one smoothy date and then I've got Terry,
I've got therapy and that's going to feel really good.
I feel all right, you're the best things. Huru think
you're unreal. Big Love by
