Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your Diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to you
from wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time,
so I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health
discoveries to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay Beaches. Come with
(00:25):
me as I share my adventures with you. Hello, pod
Diary coming atcha from La. So Monday you had Mitch
Jury on the pod only said on the app and
he's a very very funny radio host, TV presenter, actor,
lovely lovely soul as well, and then next Monday you
(00:45):
can have Candace Fox, amazing crime fiction author literally has
one of her books being turned into a series with
Apple that Ridley Scott is producing. Yeah, wyld, so I
can't wait for that to come out. With all the
pods I've recorded in Sydney, we lost all of the
video footage, but the audio is perfect, so just tune
(01:08):
in listen to the audio of it. Of course I'll
still promote it on socials, but just so you know,
I won't have like incredible audiograms like I usually work
quite hard on my audiograms. I do them myself. I
taught myself how to cut anyway, that's just a bit
of BTS life and also I'd rather be real with you.
(01:29):
So we recorded five back to back in sids at
the start of the year, and all of the video
files were corrupted or not usable. So I've been using
like little snippets of BTS of the stuff that we
did catch. But the great news is that the audio
is perfect, so you'll get your epps. As per usual
on a Monday week that was here in Los Angeles,
(01:53):
has been a lot of cash up with mates, a
lot of hikes. So let's start with the hike stuff,
because if you ever come to La chances are you're
probably going to want to do an La hike. Now,
I did Lake Hollywood the other day, boss, and I've
done it before. I think we did it not in
the summer, because we saw deer and today not today,
(02:13):
this weekend. I did it with my friend Chloe, and
we was more definitely more like hot summer vibes. We
didn't do the hike until like five PM and it
was still sweltering. Saw a cute little desert hair, very
sweet and it's a really cool it's like a body
of water. It's a lake that is as you're walking
around it, you get different views of the Hollywood Sign,
so it's kind of like a really fun one. It's
(02:34):
a bit windy Hollywood Hills streets to get to the
car park, but very curl, very fun hike. It's five
kilometers for people that work in K's and yeah, it's
really nice. It's all level so there's no crazy incline
or any of that. And then this morning I did
a walk around the Silver Lake Reservoir. Is a reservoir
(02:59):
or reservoir. I think it's a reservoir because I'm from Melbourne,
I never know how to say anyway, because we have
a suburb called I Believe reserv reserv Anyway, I think
it's body of water reservoir. So that was really nice.
We've done a couple of dinners with buttos. Matt did
a bi cook up at our friend's place and they've
(03:20):
got epic doggos, so that was really nice. And we
went to another friend's place who also have epic doggos
and had a meal there as well. Fun fact boss
has been I think I want to say judging for
the Screen Music Awards Short films, and so he has
a judge like the composing and I've been able to
watch some of them with him. Oh my goodness, so
(03:42):
much fun. I was bawling my eyes out in one
and then like scared in another. Lot of horror, a
lot of horror, but it was, yeah, a lot of
fun to watch. And I think I think we've done
them all. I think he did them. We finished them
last night. But they're kind of just so you know,
short film festivals, they're kind of between I want to say,
like eight and fifteen twenty minutes. It's kind of the
(04:04):
sweet spot anywhere between that and the genre can be anything,
and the story can be anything and really cool or Aussie,
and I think somebody will have American accents to them,
but I'm pretty sure they're Aussie actors from what I
can gather, you know. So that's been a bit of fun.
We've been doing that at night. And then I think
I told you last week I want July to be
(04:24):
my month of transformation. So I've just been focusing on
a little bit of daily movement, whether it's a walk,
whether it's gone to the gym or getting to a
yoga class. I'm just trying to each day do something
because I think with all the travel and adventures with
Mum and also going to the South in Tennessee, all
the food is amazing, but it is like quite heavy,
(04:45):
and I just felt like I kind of got into
not bad eating, but I was just noticing I was
craving a bit more on those kind of things. So
I'm really trying to just like get a really good
handle of my health in July and also like mindset
seeing my therapist every two weeks. Oh, it was so good.
We had a great session since I last spoke to you.
(05:06):
I think I took all these notes. It was honestly
unflpping real. Yeah, what do you say is like, yeah,
you need to own your pat with your whole section
on like section A part of the chat on owning
my own power. Yeah, and that like because sometimes I
(05:30):
get this inferiority kind of like sometimes i feel like
I'm a chomp, you know, like and I'll be like,
what do I feel like that? And my therapist was
like like, well, sometimes i feel like I'm the lowest
rank or like the lowest status, and maybe because I've
changed careers in my mid thirties, Like I really switched
from being a nutritionist and health author or health writer
(05:51):
over to acting, and so like, I feel like, because
I guess like on paper, sometimes I feel like I've
had less successes. I don't know. It's so weird. It's
definitely my own psychology stuff. And my therapist is on
heaps of work around owning my power and he's like,
but how cool that you're choosing this new thing that's
so exciting, and he's like, you've got the guts to
(06:14):
do it, and so yeah, it was really good. It
was really cool. We obviously, like I know about you,
but whenever I could travel with a parent, it's so
much fun. But it also like brings up old shit
and it like triggers me in weird ways that I
thought i'd healed and all of that, and it's obviously
a lot of subconscious stuff, but it was really cool
to just like be able to unpack that really quickly
(06:35):
with my therapist and just be like, oh cool, that
was my stuff and that triggered and that reminded me
of that or that reminded when I had an eedy
sort of whatever it was, and so it was really
cool to like learn that I can still be triggered
by certain things. And we did a lot of work
around smiling at the trigger and this is what Terry said.
(06:55):
That was so cool. It's always healthy to sit in
discomfort if we see our triggers. And I was like, oh,
I love that.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
I really like that.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yeah, and then we were talking about about like, as
long as you're doing what you love, it doesn't matter
where you are. So that was a lot of fun.
But yeah, it was really cool. Like I didn't think
i'd tell you about therapy, but therapy was unreal. And
I've got a book for next week as well. Uh,
what else, I've got a really cool thing I've been
invited to next week. It's like this Aussie Christmas in
(07:29):
La thing and it's on Santa Monica Pia, so that
I'll be fine. I'm doing that next week and I'll
be able to fill you in. It might actually be
next weekend, so that means I record this pod before
that happens. What else have I got in my notes
for you? Let me bring it up. Oh yes, I've
(07:49):
got two sets of notes. That's why I've got my
laptop here. I read another set of.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Notes yesterday where are they here we go? That's a
story I'm doing for a friend. Got it?
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Okay? So I don't know if you know this, but
if you're an actor in LA the summer time, which
is the season we're in right now here in America,
it really slows down because a lot of execs and
stuff like that go to like a euro summer, right,
so they head off to Europe and they come back
like end of July August, and so it's really funny,
(08:30):
like if you don't have a couple of auditions, like
you don't have an audition for a couple of days,
like I'll get like a little bit flat because I'm
like obsessed with like moving and like creating and moving
forward towards the passion, towards the dream, Like I have
to be in that energy. Even one of my really
good friends, Chad, always he's like, you're a shark, like
(08:51):
you would die if you stop moving, And I am
that kind of Like I love moving towards something, and
so if i feel like something's become stagnant or I'm
not moving forward in that capacity, I start to feel
a bit stuck. And that is like a really big
trigger for me to feel like flat and down and
(09:12):
a bit like I want to say, yeah, it's just
like a strange like stuck energy and it gets me
super flat. But then like literally a day later, I
was like, no, I'm like not buying into this energy.
And so I woke up the next morning and I
was like, I booked myself early yoga, went to Yog's,
had a meeting that afternoon with my manager, my acting
(09:34):
manager in Australia, and I was able to like reset
the energy. And of course we can blame everything on
the cancer full moon that's going on literally right now,
and apparently that energy is like quite for long because
the moon is all about like feeling and letting go
of emotions, where it's cancer, not cancer full moon Capricorn
for moon, whereas Capricorn is quite stoic and less emotive
(09:58):
and kind of like probably a bit more of the
energy I was talking about, like forward moving energy. And
so yeah, hold, if you're thinking about doing anything like
this will be coming out tomorrow, so you'll still be
in the energy the full moon. Hold any like big
work things or confrontations or big conversations or emails off
(10:20):
until next week. That would be my hold. Because I
had a really big email already to go and I
was like, nope, I'll hold in it a week because
I just want that lucky juju on my site. The
other thing I wanted to mention was yesterday I was
on Insta and somebody sent me a photo of their
hot chocolate from a Happy Place, which is a smoothie
(10:41):
bar I used to own in Melbourne back like ten
years ago, and it said, like had our logo which
was Happy Place, Lulaberry and a heart in the middle,
and it said happiness is real when shared. And I
was like, oh, made me go down a whole trip
down memory lane. I was looking at like the videos
of our build and like the development and bringing it
all to life and it was so much fun and
(11:04):
it was such a joyful part of my life. We
had it for three years and I remember like when
the opportunity came to sell, I was so emotional again.
Went to my wonderful therapist, that same one I've been
with all these years, and I was like, what do
I do? And I was like, I don't know that,
like a bricks and mortar SMOTHI bar in Melbourne is
(11:26):
my true passion, but like I love the people I
love the creative part of it, and so like I
really had to be like to have the courage to
say I love this, but I think someone can love
it better than me, And so that was like a
super I remember that was like a really emotional decision.
But I'm so happy for the experience that bought me. Anyway,
(11:47):
it was so much fun. We had like a big
crystal there. We had a selfie mirror. We everyone that
bought a Smothy got a free little crystal. Oh, it
was so much fun. I loved it. I loved the
whole building, the business because obviously it was like a
six month you know, process of you know, it's the
idea to the build and it coming to life. And
(12:09):
I lived in Sydney at the time too, I didn't
live in Melbourne, so yeah, what's the fun.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Anyway, I was just going.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
To share that it was called Happy Place and it
was in South Mail Market. Now I've got my oracle
cards here, so I'm going to do what I've been
doing the last few weeks. I'm going to pull three
cards past, present, future, and then I always look to
the top of the deck and the bottom of the
deck and just if anything's fallen out. One card has
fallen out. So but the card for the past is
(12:36):
You're being helped. Heaven is working behind the scenes to
help you, even if you don't see the results yet.
And then present positive energy. Surround yourself with positive people
and situations and avoid negativity future. Time to move on.
It's time to let go of the old and worn
out so that the new can come in. The card
(12:57):
that fell out of the deck is make a wish.
This is a magical moment. Make a wish and enjoy
this manifestation. Top of the deck, explore your options. It's
time to look at other possibilities. It's a good time
to make change. Bottom of the deck, me get it
self forgiveness, let go of old guilt, and remember you
(13:19):
are God's perfect child. Okay, so I think I love
the positive energy. Time to move on and make a wish.
How cool. So just so you know, the deck I'm
using is dooring, virtue, mermaids and dolphins really fun. I
use this deck anytime a butto comes over. I use
it in meetings. I flipping love it and yes, just
(13:41):
a bit of good vibes. So with that said, sending
you some summer love from Los Angeles and there's your
oracle card reading and I'll see you next week hopefully
with some fun new updates for you. And I hope
you love the Candice fox Epp. She's unreach What you
(14:01):
see is what you get kind of person, very sweet,
caring and so positive. Can I say she writes really
like gritty fiction crime, but holy mac positive, a little
ray of light when you see her, so sweet. So yeah,
Canus is out Monday, and then for the next few
weeks you'll have those Sydney guests kind of like roll Out.
(14:23):
There's a really exciting one coming out soon with Clear,
my pod manager, and we're doing a podcasting one oh
one episode that basically is like the dos and don'ts
of podcasting or the common mistakes and what works, what doesn't,
how to know your audience, how to know what kind
of format to do. So I'm really excited about that
because that's what I coach people on behind the scenes
on podcasting, formatting it, figuring out your demographic, figuring out
(14:48):
the length of a podcast.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
All of that stuff.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
And then I also, as you probably know, coach people
on writing books. And I'm taking clients because well there's
less auditions over the summertime in La I am taking
coaching clients. Just email me Lola at lolabury dot com
and yeah, I'd love to work with you if you've
got a dream for like a book or a pod.
(15:11):
I obviously do health and nutrition coaching as well, but
the most common thing I get booked for is pod
coaching or book coaching. Anyway, Huru, have a wonderful day,
Go out there, make a wish. You heard the card,
the Oracle card, Make a wish and then yeah, let's
see let's see it unfold, all right, big love bin
(15:32):
only
