Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to from
wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time, so
I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health
discoveries to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay Beaches. Come with
(00:25):
me as I share my adventures with you. Hello, their
dear friends, La Potterony Diary coming for you. Okay, the
week that was here in La so La. It's summertime,
super hot at the moment and traditionally in actaland things
slow down a little bit, just because a lot of
(00:47):
people love going to Europe for a euro summer. But
I've still been doing auditions. I've got an audition I'm
about to put on tape right after I record this
pod for a Nurse again, And when I say again,
this will be the the second second audition, third submission
(01:07):
going for a Nurse's time. It's for a commercial and
the script's really nice and heartwarming and I'm helping a
kid go out, So I'm going to pop that down
on tape after I finish this pod with you, and
I've also been teaching a bunch of yogs this week.
I've been teaching a new studio, which is really exciting.
So I've always every time I talk to you and
(01:29):
I'm like, oh, I'm teaching yogs is at the same studio,
and now I'm teaching another studio as well, So that's great.
I love teaching. It really fills my cup up. I've
been trying different classes different studios as well, so that's
been fun, kind of like I wanted to say, recipe
testing different yoga studios, but you know what I mean,
like just trying them all on. And I meeting my
(01:49):
mate Meg tomorrow and We're going to try another class
together at a whole nother studio. So I'm kind of
in that groove at the moment. But it was really
fun to teach a different kind of style, non heated
to a different community. I really enjoyed that that happened yesterday.
And yeah, big big, Big Van Bosso and I've been
(02:12):
binge watching a couple of shows. Not binge watching, but
like we'll get into bed at night and get into
some shows. So the first one we watched, I think
I mentioned it to you last week is called Fallout.
It's on Amazon Prime. The costumes, the set off the
rect scale really awesome. Fun fact, my friend Christopher designed
some of the costumes for that, so I was thinking
I should get him on the pod and talk to
(02:33):
him about like the behind the scenes of working on
big productions like that. Would you like that, my friends?
Because I feel like he'd be really engaging and also
how cool to learn, Like the movie is set in
Los Angeles, but not much was shot in LA Like
a lot was shot in New York, some was shot
in Utah, you know what I mean. Fascinating. And then
(02:56):
we've been boss and I've now been watching the new
Lynna Dunham show called Too Much. It's on Netflix. It's
like a dark comedy, quirky, witty. It's actually set in
London or bit of New York, bit of London, and
I think we're two or three apps in just really
enjoying it. It's fun to watch, like a yeah, witty
(03:17):
kind of comedy. And then in my downtime this week,
I've pretty much been just doing pod edits and audiogram
edit's foss edits the pod from an audio perspective, but
I make the audiograms that you see on Insta and whatnot.
And you may have known from other weeks epps that
(03:39):
we lost the video footage from all the pods are
recorded in sids and so yeah, I've been like trying
to mcguiva making audiograms with the Sydney footage and it's
kind of tricky, but I've been making it work. So
Monday's it was with the Candice Fox, amazing crime fiction author.
Next Monday you've got JMO or Jonathan Murray and he
(04:02):
is an amazing Australian journalist. He's also got a book
out called Mental as Anyone, and he was just really
honest in that chat and really he sits very comfortably
in his vulnerability. And he's got a pod I believe
by the same title, so it tracks. But if you're
an Aussie, he's like being part of like that pop
(04:22):
culture journo like Space. I think he writes for the
Daily Tally or Daily Mail. I always getting mixed up.
But since I ever had a career in media and
I'm thirty nine now, I started working in TV when
i was twenty two, so he's always been like the
go to person that will come to your book launch
(04:43):
and cover it and all those nice things. Anyway, it
was really nice to sit down and talk to him,
really really curl. I was a bit nervous because he
is so like what you see is what you get,
and I hadn't seen him for a few years, so
we didn't have that like camaraderie where it's like we'd
seen each o a month before. So I was kind
of a bit nervous because when we record pods, and
(05:04):
when I record in Melbourne or Sydney, I'm usually recording
quite a few back to backs. You've got a very
limited time with people and you want to break the
ice really quickly and then get into the like real
juicy stuff. But he was like super vulnerable straight out
of the gate, really really lovely, and we got to
chat about his book that is like from what I
can see on socials, it looks like it's going gangbusters
(05:25):
in Australia. So his EP is coming out on Monday.
And then what else have I got here? I've got
all these notes written speaking of pods. Oh that's for
my substack. Basically, when I do my pod diary for you,
I make notes for the pod diary, which I think
you know that I'm a bit a type Virgo Rooney.
(05:46):
But then what I've started doing is actually typing them
up now and then they also formulate my substack entry.
So I do two substack entries a week. On a Monday,
I bring a recipe out. This week was a blueberry
smoothie rest and ps, I can totally start putting that
into my show notes for this podcast if you want
to get a recipe in each the show notes each week,
(06:07):
so so happy to. I'll do it today and you
just tell me what you think. And then on Fridays
on Zubstack, I release an actor diary, which is essentially
a written version of this chat that we're having right now.
And so I've got my notes in front of me.
The other thing I want to say is this weekend,
the Boss and I are going to Ozzie Christmas in La. Now,
(06:28):
this is run by two Aussie's Scott Tweety, who's actually
been on the pod a couple of years ago, and
Jess Stats and they spent a Christmas I believe a
while ago, like six years ago in LA and they
just had a Christmas together and invite it all, kind
of like the orphan Aussies that didn't have a place
to go for Chrissy, and I think that's where this
(06:51):
idea was birth. And of course as an Aussie, it's
always summertime for our Christmas, and so they do this
kind of Christmas in July in La. This is the
fifth year of them doing it. So it's like a
sit down luncheon, which that's what I'm going to, and
then there's a big kind of like after party and
the Bossachenki's coming to that one, and like I think
(07:12):
they've sold close to one thousand tickets. Like I saw
today Scott Post they'd sold like nine hundred and fifty tickets,
So it's gonna be big. And it's all on satur
monic apeir like very quintessential La moment. But I've never
been before. I keep saying I'll go, and I something
always comes up. But I am going this weekend, So
next week I'll report back and give you a full
(07:35):
rundown of it. Also was really really lucky. I was
gifted a frock to wear from Alexandra Stone. She's got
a brand, like a fashion label called Xandra Stone, and
she sent me a frock this beautiful like bohemium off
the shoulder. Real summary frock to wear, and I'm gonna
(07:59):
ied it. I'm gonna pair up with wedges and this
cool hat I got in Joshua Trey and just a
cute little bag. But here's the thing. I've got to
teach yog's in the morning, and that's the hot yoga studio,
so I'm gonna be sweaty. So I'm gonna have to
get changed from yoga, do my makeup everything at the
yoga studio, and then high tail it to Santa Monicapia.
(08:20):
Anyone that lives local. Oh no, you cannot park around
Santa Moni Kapia. So I think I'm going to leave
my car at the yoga studio, ubern have a lovely
lunch and then hang with the boss of Chenki a
bit at the AFT party and then like I did
not want a late night. I am such a granny.
I'm thirty nine years old. Boss and I both thirty
nine years old. We're two days apart. I'm born on
the fourteenth of September and he's born on the sixteenth
(08:41):
of September, so yes, both virgos, both year of the Ox.
But I like to go to bedterly like I love it,
like I went to bed early last night, got up
at seven today, worked, went to a nine thirty yoga
class back here recording this Potter Rooney with you guys,
you lovely peeps, and then put this audition up and
(09:02):
then go back to the yoga studio and work this afternoon.
Because I manage the hot one, I manage it as well.
So it's yeah, going on a bit early is like
my favorite thing. And also it means that I can
make the most out of my days. And I'm a
morning gal. I am a morning gal. So that's my update.
(09:24):
I also really want to surprise the boss with like
a birthday trip somewhere. Now. We are both obsessed with Yellowstone,
so I'm thinking like Montana, Wyoming and either go to
the Grand Tetons or I think it's Glacier National Park
or Yellowstone National Park. If you the listeners have been
(09:45):
to any of those places, because I've been doing TikTok research,
but I just don't know the ins and outs, you
know what I mean, So if you have any insight
as to which is better at that time of the year,
I really want to book a little trip to yeah,
Montana or Wyoming. I mean i'd love both, but I
don't think they're logistically as close as I think. Like
(10:08):
if there's like I think, three different airports in Montana.
I know there's the Jackson Hole Airport that actually looks
the easiest to get to but also the most expensive
as far as like it's a bougie kind of like town.
But I'm kind of tempted to go to Jackson Hole
for four days or something because it's so easy to fly,
Like the airport's right there, the villagers right there, and
(10:30):
you can like cruise around and get a vibe for it,
and I think you got to hire a car and
do some nature vibes. Anyway, let me know if you
know that world, let me know. I please, I would appreciate,
and please bring on any tips and tricks. What else
(10:51):
to tell you? Oh, I bought my oracle cards out
to do an oracle card reading for you, and then
we'll wrap this chitty shadow up. So as you know.
The way I like to do it is past present future.
I shuffle with my left hand because I'm right handed,
and that is what my nan, beautiful Dorothy, taught me.
She was like, you always shuffle with your non dominant hand,
(11:13):
and because obviously, I'm holding the mic with my right
I'm not doing a I'm just putting them essentially into
piles with my left hand and then re stacking those piles.
And this is the way my psychic friend Denise shuffles.
So I'm doing a combo inspired by Nan and my
mate Denise, who said that this is my lucky year
acting wise, so so pumped for that. So pumped for that.
(11:39):
But yeah, if you've got any tips on Montana or
Wyoming Yellowstone, any of that, please let me know. All right,
so I've shuffled. I've done the rainbow, which is like
how I essentially like pull the cards out and then
just ranom. I pulled three cards, one for past, one
for present, one for future, and then I look at
(12:00):
the bottom of the deck and that is waves of prosperity,
new abundance and exciting opportunities wash over you. Now we
like that. And then the top of the deck is
divine magic. Extra magic surrounds your situation right now. Expect miracles.
Will sign me up for that, Thank you very much.
Past morning adam affirmation. Say positive affirmations each morning to
(12:22):
open the gates of manifestation. I feel like it's great.
We're doing this at the very start of mercury retrograde too.
It's like resetting the energy, the presence that is for
right now today. Contemplation time, spend time alone meditating upon
what you truly desire. So we are hitting this mercury
retrograde energy. So contemplation time is probably really important. And
(12:45):
then the future, so that can be like an hour
away from now, a couple of minutes away from now.
It could be tomorrow or next week. Have faith, your
prayers are manifesting. Remain positive, and follow your guidance. So
the cards, just in a recap, the cards that have
come up, waves of prosperity, sign me up, Divine magic,
(13:05):
morning affirmations, contemplation time, and have faith. And then I
just turned the deck over one more time because I
felt like I needed to protection you and your loved
ones and your possessions are safe and protected by Heaven.
I love that one. Love that. So that's me friends,
that's my LA update for You'll have a new one
(13:26):
for you next week as per usual. And yeah, remember
you've got JMO on the pod. Really cool guy, really open,
really honest, really open about mental health stuff as well.
And the week after that. I'm really excited. It is
actually with my podcast manager, Claire, and we talk about
like the dos and don'ts of podcasting, as you know,
(13:49):
I coach people, and how to write books and how
to do pods. That episode is almost like a freebie.
It's literally podcasting one oh one. So that's the following Monday,
and I hope you you love it, and I look
forward to giving all the updates from the week that was.
I really want to get this. A couple of movies
out that I really want to see, so hopefully i'll
have a nice movie review for you by next time
(14:11):
we hang and I'll be able to tell you all
about the Aussie Christmas because, like I said, I've never
done one before. It's my first one. All right, all right, hooru,
go out do the stuff you love by
