Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your Diary episode. Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm a bit of a nomad, so these episodes come
to you from wherever I'm living or traveling to at
the time, so I'll share with you what's going on
in my world, from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals,
nature adventures, health discoveries, to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay Beaches.
(00:25):
Come with me as I share my adventures with you.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Gangles Radio. The week that was here in beautiful
Los Angeles. So okay, this week's had a few of
those kind of like kind of pinch yourself La moments
that like you're just like, oh my godness, this couldn't
(00:51):
happen anywhere else but Los Angeles. So let me take
you down the road. First of all, Boss and I
got to visit the Sag Building this past week. We
went for a screening for our mates movie Josh and Linda.
They've got a feature film feature film coming out called
The Queen's Jewels. Josh came onto my pod to talk
(01:13):
about it, and then they were both like, oh, come
to the screening. So we went to the Sag Building.
Boss and I had never been there before. We went
all ut to I can't remember what level it was,
maybe like seven. And there's this theater called the Meryl
Street Theater, I know, how cool. And then it's this
kind of like I want to say, fifty theater maybe,
(01:35):
And on each chair, each chair is named and apparently
the name they're named after actors that have given considerable amounts,
like donated considerable amounts of money to SAG, especially during
COVID when work was so hard for actors. So would
(01:55):
you like to know whose name I was sitting on?
My friends? I was on the Matt Damon's boss on
my right was on Julia Roberts, and Laura on my
left was on Ben Affleck and the fella next to
her was on j Lo. How cool. Anyways, that was
a lot of fun. It was a really cool just
(02:16):
like Americana La experience that they talked a bit. So
it was part of the SAG Foundation. And someone mentioned
to me, like, there's like voiceover booths and classrooms and
there's a lot of things that have done for like
upskilling and education for SAG members. I thought it was
(02:37):
really cool. Anyways, that was fun. That was a lot
of fun. And then after that, to celebrate our friends,
we went to Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood, which, from
what I can gather is a bit of an institution.
Again our first time there. Matt lovedex It kind of
felt a bit dive bari, but definitely had a vibatron
going on, you know what I mean. Like Luke were there.
(03:02):
There was a lot of fun. We stayed for a
couple of drinks then went home, but loved it. And
then on Sunday we went to an Emmy's nominations party
for composers. So, as you may know, Boss is a composer,
so it was right up his alley and it was
this cool house out in the Hollywood Hills. There four
(03:23):
composers performed with like you know, strings and whatnot. I
think you call it a string quartet or something like that.
I don't know enough about the terminology. And there was
a choir as well, and it was all pieces of
music from shows that are up for Emmy Knoms. Pretty cool.
So I know. One that I remember and I really
(03:44):
liked was music from the TV show that the Boss
Goo and I watched Agatha all night long. Real good
about a witch? What else? Okay? This week also I
went to dinner with my lovely friend Pip at the
Holloway House that's part of the Soho House group. It's
also when we who would funnily enough next door to
Barney's Beanery quite literally, and that was lots of fun.
(04:06):
Just had dinner on the rooftop, had a really yummy
French red wine, and then made my way home. It
was just a really nice catch up and just so
nice to chat with her and convince her to come
on the pod. So I'm really excited about that. Pip
is an epic photographer and shot like incredible people from
(04:26):
all over the world, from like literally, I'm not even
making this up, Prince William to Taylor Swift to I
feel like she's shot like Federer or someone amazing at
the American Open, the US Open. So pumped to have
her on the pod. Yesterday, I took a meeting at
(04:47):
this awesome cafe called All Time. I've definitely talked to
you about it before. It's reminds me of woods in
Byron Bay or Bangalow. It's kind of like very like
you're sitting in a greenhouse, vibes outdoor me coffee. The
food's off the chain. But I didn't get any food.
We just had coffee dates, caught up with an actor
Bard and just had a little chat. She's got a
(05:08):
huge movie coming out soon, so that was really nice
to talk to her about her like kind of like
publicity and what was going on with that. So cool
just to you know me love. I just love celebrating
people and learning about what's going on in their world.
And that was a lot of fun. And i haven't
done any auditions this week, but I've got to influencer
(05:30):
pictures that scripts would you yesterday for So right after
I record this pod, I must, I must, I must
write these scripts and just deliver them. I've been a
bit tired today and a bit procrastinating, but I'm hoping
to have an early night tonight and them, you know,
be in a good little swing and routine of things.
(05:50):
What else did I want to tell you? There was
something else I wanted to tell you. Oh, I wanted
to mention the retreat I'm doing with my butto Meg
in Joshua Tree. I know a lot of you that
listen to this as Aussie, but you know, if you
are listening season you live in La or California. We're
(06:11):
doing a retreat and Joshua Tree from the second to
the fifth of October. Lots of fun, epic food, loads
of yogs, swimming, a lot of downtime as well, hiking
in Joshua Tree in Natural Park, all the fun things.
So that'll be great. All the details to that are
on my insta. Yeah, so that's me, fam, that's my update.
(06:32):
I've got my my Oracle deck of cards to you know,
read you a deck of cards. But first, oh, boss
made a really good martini last night. Just aside, real
nice sunsets in La at the moment are redonk so incredible.
Oh that's what I forgot to you. At that Composer
(06:53):
Emmy party was there was an actual Emmy and Emmy's
a big they mighty big. So Tony's a small golden
globes of like medium size, all the size you would
expect a trophy to be or an award to be.
Emmy's are huge. Australian Actor Awards pretty big, but Emmys
are like it's like this massive angel thing on this
(07:16):
huge round dome and then she's got this like full
ball thing that she's like reaching up to. Anyway, it's
so she's holding this ball thing. I think Anyway, Josh
touched the top of the ball and made a wish,
and then I did the exact same thing. So I've
got to say that there was a real life Emmy
at the party too, which was so kool. I'd love
(07:39):
to win at Emmy one day. That's what I feel like,
is that's the dream. That's the dream. Oh okay, let's
pull some cards. I've got the mic sitting in a
different pods today, but I think it's working. I've also
been researching lots of different pod studios today because I've
been booking guests. I've booked three guests this week, so exciting.
(08:02):
You know how much I love podcasting. I could do
it till the cows come home. So I'm just like, oh,
I'm using my wrong hand. Do you know that when
you you shuffle cards, you you got to use your
non my Nandmin is Dorothy. She likes to be called
d or. She's not physically with us anymore. D is
what she got called by your botos. To me, she
(08:22):
was Nan, but she always said, you shuffle with your
non dominant hand, so you're left hand. So what I'm
doing is just putting them all into little piles now
with my left hand. Why is it on upside down?
I don't feel like it should be okay, And then
what we'll do is we'll just do a little rainbow
spread and then we're just going to pull past present
(08:44):
future and then I have a quick look at the
top and the bottom of the deck. So this is
your card reading for today, because we are I don't
know if a clip season has hit, but it's about
to hit. I'm pretty sure. Okay, you are being helped.
Heaven is working behind This means to help you, even
if you don't see results yet. Next one contemplation time.
(09:05):
Spend time alone meditating upon what you truly desire. And
the next one time to move on. It's time to
let go of the old, worn out so then you
can come in. Oh, love that top of the deck.
Accept Heaven's help. You've prayed for help, so get out
of the way and let Heaven help you. And then
the bottom of the deck. Love this one a new dawn.
(09:28):
The worst is now behind you, and positive new experiences
are on the horizon. How good? How good? How good?
How good? Boss? And I it's our birthday in a
few weeks, and we really do want to do a
Wyoming or Montana trip because we love Yellowstone. We're just
susten it out seeing if it's like not going to
(09:50):
cost us the earth, you know, and would love to
do that, but maybe not exactly for our birthdays. But
we're just susten it. What else to tell you made
a great martini? We love a gin martini. We used
to make them all the time in Byron and we
just haven't done them here unless we made a yummy
He made a really good one at sunset last night, right,
(10:16):
he'll kill kill So that's me. This feels like quite
a quick it's a quick one. Oh yeah, ten No,
that's a nice little catch up. And then, of course
just a reminder I do coaching like four if you
want to write a book or have a pod. I
love podcasting so much. In fact, if you want any
tips on podcasting, just go back and listen to the
last episodes the Hot Seat, which was six questions about
(10:38):
the pod turning six years old today in America but
yesterday in Australia, and so we talk a lot about
like tips for podcasters. So we did six questions for
six years on the hot Seat this week and then
on the Monday episode. Boss and I talked about the
pod and the highs, the lows, the like hardness, like
(10:59):
the hard about it, the great stuff about it, what
we love about it, what we've learnt from it, what works,
what doesn't work. And I think the overarching thing is
it's pretty much a full time job, like you have
to work so hard on a pod, but we both
love it, so it's like working at something you love,
you know what I mean? All Right, friends, who row,
(11:20):
who row, look forward to catch up with you next week,
and I'm sure I have lots of new info for you.
Then all right, U go out and do this stuff
you love. Bye,
