Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to you
from wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time,
so I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health
discoveries to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay Beaches. Come with
(00:25):
me as I share my adventures with you. Hello, Fanbamo,
La pod Diary coming for you. Been a week, I've
got a lot. I've got lots of fun new places
I've tried and visited and all of that done in
(00:47):
the last week or so. And favorite TV show hic
Staff all that, So this is a good you know,
little taste of La episode. Also did a funny, funny
audition yesterday. I will tell you about, Okay, the week
that was. The way I write these, just so you know,
(01:08):
I write myself notes because I'm four virgos in my chart. Yes,
it's my birthday in ten days, so I write everything
down chronologically over the week and then I sit here
with you and I walk through it. So last Friday,
I went to Echo Park Farmer's Market with my butto Chloe,
and it was awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
It was so good.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
She got me into this incredible dip called everything but
the Kitchen Sink or Kitchen Sinc.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Dip. Oh holy Mac.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
To the point that the next day Boss and I
went to another farmer's market and bought a different dip
from the same people, called the Crazy Dip. Both amazing.
The winner is the Kitchen Sinc Dip. So I've done
I think since we've last spoken, I've been to three
or four different farmers' market farmer's markets. But on Friday
night I went to the Echo Park one which I'd
(01:58):
never been to before.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Really loved life, really quaint.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
And cute and very very sweet. Then after we went
to the Echo Park Palmer's Market, we went to a
happy hour at this wine bar called Dada and I
had this really really yummy chilled red wine so delicimo
loved it. And then yeah, we just hung there for
(02:22):
a bit, just had a little chattaroo.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
You know.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
It was just a really really nice catch up. Her
boyfriend came along. He's lovely too. It was just like
a really nice, chilled Friday night in La you know.
I also went on.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
A hike. We also went on a hike on the weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
There's this really cool hike that I'm enjoying for mainly,
can I be honest the animal encounters that I have
seen on this bike. I've seen deer, I should be honest,
a dear numero like one. I've seen, desert hairs. I've
seen gophers, gophers of like those little things like mice
(03:01):
that come out of the hole. When you hike in
LA and you see all holes on the side of
the hike, you think it's a snake. Cole, being Australian,
we naturally think it's a straight snake. Cold it's actually
a gopher hole in fact, and next you they pop
the little head up, especially as.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
The sun sets. It's actually cool.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Also also that hike is called, I believe the Beechwood
Canyon Hike. It's kind of under spoken about. It's really great.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
It's like in.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Amongst all those it's like the Franklin Hills, so it's
in it's not far from Runyon, it's not far from
the Griffith Park Hike. It's kind of in that vicinity,
so if you're visiting LA. A mate of mine was
texting me yesterday Yana, and she was like oh, I'm
coming at LA, you know, And she's asking about Runyon Canyon,
(03:49):
which is probably one of the most famous hikes. You
get beautiful views of the Hollywood Sign and it's always busy.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
But she was like, is Runyon Canyon safe?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
And I was like, oh, yeah, I would say any
of the hikes are safe in LA during the day.
But it's also summertime, so it's so hot during the day,
so I usually hike five pm.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
RVO kind of vibes.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
But also early morning would be a beautiful time to
hike in LA. But when I say early morning, like
seven would probably be a good time to hag Anyway,
that's just a side, but yeah, Beechwood Canyon, add that
to your list. Definitely, Runyan, Definitely, Griffith Park Observatory, all
great hikes to do. I highly recommend, Okay, get ready
for this funny audition that came in, So get When
(04:38):
you get an audition that an agent has submitted you for,
it's like you don't cut the line necessarily, that's not
the right terminology, but agents can see different auditions to
what you can see on the casting websites. Here in LA.
I think it's the same deal in Australia as well.
So this was on a casting website called Casting Networks,
and I've done auditions through Casting networ works. Oodles are
(05:00):
times for anyway, when your agent puts you forward for it,
it like pings you an email. So there's email and
it's like agent has put you forward with this audition
and I'm like great, and it's like fit ala spin instructor, real,
we can do this. I'm a yoga teacher, like understand
like how to do like a fit kind of self tape,
no props.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
I read the.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Brand name and I'm like, I'm just going to google
the brand name. This commercial is for, wait for it,
hemorrhoid cream. Yep, yep, that's what I auditioned for.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yesterday. I auditioned for hemorroid cream.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
And it reminded me of my first audition I ever
did when I got to LA So back four or
five years ago when I was kind of boss, was
still in Byron and I was doing six months on,
six months off when I first got here, and I
remember I got here, I enrolled into acting class. I
was just in my groove and this audition comes through
(05:59):
again for an agent as well. This came through an agent.
When it comes to an agent, you're like, yes, it's
like you think. It's like I don't know of higher elk.
But anyway, my story will prove that not always is
the case. Anyway, came to an agent and I'm like yes,
and it said like quirky, funny type and I'm like, great,
well that is me in a nutshell, isn't it. And
(06:21):
we naturally, naturally like cast yourself in every role. And
there was like a comedian, a comedic kind of actress
that was used as the example. And I don't remember
what the actress's name was. Now anyway, I was like
I got this. I have got this. I'm reading the
audition and I'm like, oh my goodness. And it said
(06:44):
you have to dress up as a fairy, you have
to make a wand and I read the script and
I'm like, this is an ad for vagina deodorant.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I literally had to say this isn't a word of
a light. I had to say hello, I'm your fanny godmother.
And I had to use my and be like, this
is a whole body deodorant. It's safe to use on
your pits, point to my armpits, privates, point to my
vagina and feet point to my feet in what order?
I have absolutely no idea, but yeah, anyway, did the
(07:14):
audition did it in an Australian accent? It was just
so funny, in a nausey accent, like I'm your Fanny godmother. Anyway,
safe to say I did not get the role. So
I am not holding my breath for this hemoid cream audition,
but just want to let you know it reminded me
of my first audition here. And also, this is what
the La diaries are all about. We keep it real here,
(07:36):
you know. Yeah, No, okay, as you know, I'm obsessed
with Month and Sons. I just put a note in
my notes here that on repeat, I have been listening
to an older mumf and Songs Son's song called Babel,
and I wrote some of the lyrics down because I'll
know my weakness, know my voice, and I believe in
(07:58):
grace and choice, and I know perhaps my heart is fast,
but all be born without a mask.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Pretty cool, right?
Speaker 1 (08:08):
This week's been interesting, like some days have felt like yeah,
and then other days it's felt like wild and wooly
out here and tough and brutal and hard and it's
strange because it's kind of like La rewards that like
you have to you know, have the phoenix from the
ashes moment in La. It's like such a strange thing.
It's like you have to go through this shit time
(08:30):
to get to the good time, especially here for some reason.
So this week, so usually I see my therapist once
every two weeks, and I saw my beautiful therapist last week,
but this week I booked an extra session because I
was like, I felt too. I was just noticing and
Matt is such a good barometer for me, and he
was like, you're on the hamster wheel every night when
(08:51):
you go to bed. You're overthinking everything. You're over analyzing everything,
and you're kind of worrying about shit that doesn't even matter.
That really weird chip Like I would get in my
head about like oh, we're gonna go home at Christmas,
or we're gonna stay here, or we're going to do
and then like I'll worry about money and da da dat.
So I was like stuff this, I'm running around in
circles worrying about stuff I shouldn't even be worrying about.
(09:15):
So I had an extra therapy session, and my therapist
is un flipping.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
A real so good.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
He gave me a lot of advice around He was
like stop always. He's like, the mistake you make is
every time you meet someone cool and creative, you think
they're better than you and put them on a pedestal
and you think you're like second best. And he goes,
I don't know where you have like built that, whether
it's childhood or what. And he's like, you need to
like come in like is an equal and as somebody
(09:46):
that has something to share and has, you know, something
to offer, and he's like, you need to start loving
yourself more. So it was a really good lesson in
self worth, self love, and we did he's also a hypnotherapist,
so we did a lot of hypnotherapy around like how
cool sharks are and he's like, you.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Need to be in your Like he's like, sharks get
a bad rap. He's like, they're so cool.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
He's like, they don't lie, they're really honest, they hunt,
they strategize, and he's like they're an apex predator, predator
for a reason. And so we did this like hypno
workaround sharks.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
It was so cool.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Anyway, So that is me Gang oh and on Monday,
you got a wellness EP with wonderful Meg Yogi, who
I'm running a yog's retreat with in Joshua Tree. Today
is the second last day to use the code Chill
fifty for fifty dollars off. I know a lot of
listeners are in Australia, but if you're in California, go
(10:49):
for it.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
And what was I gonna say about that? Oh?
Speaker 1 (10:54):
But yeah, but I got a lot of feedback about
Monday's EPP and people being like, oh love that wellness EP.
We have another wellness EP, so you ask can I deliver?
There's gonna be a wellness AP coming out on Monday.
It's going to be a nutrition one O one nip
with yours truly and then straight back to you know, actors, directors,
creatives and all the melting pot of what ALA is.
(11:17):
But I thought this is a really good time and month.
We're in a nine month in a nine year, it's
all about like cleaning house, rebirth, transforming yourself. So I'm
going to do a like transforming yourself but Health and
Wellness Vibes with nutritionist Lola Berrie. All Right, I feel
(11:40):
like I'm really waffling now, I'm off to teach some yogs.
I am teaching at a yoga studio in Hollywood today,
so fun, such a fun vibe. And I am playing
them my Alvis Presley playlist today, so hopefully that goes down.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Well, you never know, you never know.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
You've got to get to know your audience, you know,
and that's gonna be lots of fun.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
And yeah, we're in We're in Virgo season friends.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
So Matt and I are really this because we know
our birthday week is going to be full on. We've
actually got friends get coming to LA and getting married
as well in that whole week, like around our birthday week.
So we're like, okay, we're just using like this week
and next week just to like really lean into our
health so that we, you know, Birthday week, can treat
(12:28):
ourselves a little bit and enjoy and have fun.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
And you know all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
So after I teach yoga today, I'm actually gonna stay
and practice yoga. So I'm gonna give the gifty yoags
and then give it back to myself.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
How cool? All right? Friends? That is me.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
I Am off to teach some yoga rooneys, and I
hope you love my story about the audition for hemorrhoid
cream and vagina yodorant.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Can you believe it?
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Just out here fighting the good fight, my friends, fighting
the good fight, all right, Mega love, go do the
shit you love.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Bye.
