Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your Diary episode. Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm a bit of a nomad, so these episodes come
to you from wherever I'm living or traveling to at
the time, so I'll share with you what's going on
in my world, from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals,
nature adventures, health discoveries to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay beaches.
(00:25):
Come with me as I share my adventures with you. Hello,
Welcome to your pod Diary. This episode I'm almost recording
in such real time that as soon as I stop
recording it, Boss is going to upload it straight away
and it'll be Friday in Australia and where you go.
(00:45):
The reason why I held off recording it until now
is because I have just returned home from set. So
I went on a news show here in Los Angeles
called Katie La, and I did all these healthy fall
which is autumn here recipes and so we did simple swap.
(01:07):
So what this is basically how it goes is you
get booked and then you have to go out and
get the ingredients and have If you ever do recipes
on television, you kind of need to have the hero
final recipes already made. So Boss and I cooked a
lot of the food because it was five recipes last night,
(01:29):
and then I set my lum for early this morning
and got up and did the fresh like apple crumble
and all that this morning, so that by the time
you get to set, essentially all you're doing is just
dressing the table, shooting your cutaways, and then you do
your actual segment.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
So it was a lot of fun. I'll take you
through it.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
I actually just filmed put up a whole instoreel of
like behind the scenes, so you can get a little
taste of behind the scenes on this like awesome iconic
TV set that's been so so it's shot at the
Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood, so it does feel very
like But do you know what I mean when I
(02:08):
say that I'm trying to make the Hollywood sound the
Fox fanfare sound like. It feels very very Hollywood. Even
the green room has got like a Hollywood like backdrop.
But basically, the recipes that we did and I'm going
to post them all on my substack and therefore Instagram
cauliflower mash in the place of potato mash, apple crumble
(02:31):
with oat topping instead of pastry pumpkin spice smoothie in
the place of a pump and spice late pump and
spice chia putting in the place of pumpkin pie and
maple date protein balls in the place of maple blazed donuts,
which are a massive thing here. So basically this time
of the year, ahead of October, America releases all it's
(02:54):
pump and spice things, like Starbucks does this famous pumpk
and Spice latte, to the point that I believe August
twenty six is like the unofficial like they call it
PSL Day Pumpkin Spice Latte Day, so Americans go mental
for it. But even Traded Joe's like, they've got pumpkin
spice bread, maple butter, pumpkin butter, Like there's like pumpkin
(03:18):
pie cakes and maple spiced ice cream. Like they don't
forget any of it. Like it's so I think it's
kind of fun, to be honest, But so what we
were doing with this segment is essentially creating healthy variations, so.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
A lot of fun. Basically, it's all over pretty quick.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
You do three cutaways, like three little teasers in the
lead up to the actual SEGGI, and then away you
go Bob Jungle, so fun and it was really fun.
The hosts Lou and Glenn were so lovely and tasted everything,
and yeah, it was a really really lovely and fun segment.
(03:59):
And it's amazing how much time and prep goes into
four and a half minutes, because about how long you're
on air.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
For, it's pretty quick. All up. Australia is the same.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I think sometimes Seggi's in Australia consider like three three
and a half minutes. But back in the heyday, when
I used to fly over here and go on a
show called Home and Family, which is like was with
the Hallmark Channel, you would literally do like nine minute
segments like split into two, so you do like four
and a half and four and a half and one'd
(04:30):
be making the dish live and then the other would
be feeding it to the hosts and then like reviewing
it for you and then they'd keep you miked up
and you'd co host the rest of the show. So fun,
such a fun concept so Americana, and it was all
shot on the Universal Lot, so it's fun when you
go to these like really big like film sets, and
both Katie La and that show that I was just
(04:53):
telling about home and family.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
It doesn't exist anymore.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
They're both really really big sets, so there are a
lot of fun and like lots of like went with me.
Basically what we do is like dress the set and
then roll it in, So anyway, it's a lot of
fun new roll it in, you do your sege and
all that kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
So anyway, heaps are fun loving it. I was meant
to have meeting the Star Bone.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
It got canceled, like literally fifteen minutes before I was
gonna leave, and that was really exciting meing, but you know,
it'll happen next week, so I'm not too worried about that.
It's my birthday on Sunday, i turned forty, Holy Mac,
and then it's Bosses on Tuesday. We are literally two
days apart, so we're trying to plan a little trip.
Not yet those who've got weddings and stuff coming up
(05:39):
the next couple of weeks, but we're trying to plan
a little getaway together.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
And I'm just.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Kind of like crossing my t's and dotting my eyes
to look at all the options and all that kind
of thing. So hopefully it's really special and we can
celebrate our birthdays like that, And what else to tell you?
I told you last week we've been watching Platonic. We
have also been watching Class of O seven because I'm
(06:06):
interviewing an actress from Class of O seven tomorrow on
the pod. And in fact, I got sent a screener
for a new movie that she's in called Play Dirty
with Mark Wahlberg, and screeners are so fun, like your
name is watermarked over the whole movie.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
It's so much fun.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
But I was able to watch it in the lead
up to Tomorrow's interview, so I'm really excited. I'm interviewing
this incredible actress called Claire Tomorrow. Can't wait super super
pump for that.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
What else do I have to tell you? Oh, we
started watching the movie The Gorge.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
So basically Boss got a brand new Lapo laptop and
so he's got some free Apple TV thing and it's
been so much fun because we've been watching so many
shows on Apple. But we're watching the movie The Gorge,
and then I really want to get back into the studio.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
So that's with seth Rogen also.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
And we watched that we were away in Palm Springs
when Mum was visiting, but because we didn't have Apple TV.
We only got to watch I think an episode and
a half, and so I really want to get back
into it because I think he is incredible. Seth Rogen
to me is unreal, so funny, best laugh in the world,
(07:18):
such a good laugh. So yeah, I just am so
pumped see that. What else have I What else has
happened this week? And I think, but I haven't stopped.
You know those weeks where you're like I haven't. Oh,
we had our lovely friend Craig over for dinner. Matt
made lamb. I think we went to mate's place since
I spoke to you last and made lamb too. I
(07:40):
did a co working day with my mate Chloe. She's
away now, she's very kill.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
My friend had her win like a career when she's like,
let's go out for a drink and I just didn't
feel like drinking. You know when you have those days
and you're like, I don't feel like a veno today,
And so I sat with her. Well, she had a
veno and I had a injuice? Could I be any
more la if I tried? Could I be.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Any auditions this week? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
I think I did a couple actually, but just like
super chill ones where I had to essentially be myself,
which they're always fun ones when you slate and you're like, hey,
my name's Lola, I live in La super easy ones.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
But yeah, it's I feel like it's fun.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
It's obviously so much fun to be on a set
and to actually be filming on a working set and
then knowing that segment is going to be live today.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
So that's kind of like a really really nice feeling.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
I've got some I've got three podcasts lined up between
now and next time I speak to you, and I
will have turned forty and the Boss will have turned forty.
So we've planned some fun road trips and just kind
of like soaking up our birthday week.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
I can't wait. I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I I'm yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
I don't feel friend of mine. Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I did a resue walk with my friend Wes, and
he's like, how do you feel about doing for you?
And I was like, totally fine. I don't feel funky
about it at all. Really, I actually feel like I'm
moving in the direction I really want to move, you know,
like chasing and following my dreams. Right, Oh gangles, well
that is me. That is moly.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
I wish you have a ripper week.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
There's a lot of cool astrology stuff going on from
now to about the twenty.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
First of September, so soak all of that up.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
And it's all about like letting go and bring in
new keol stuff. So always let go and then just
bring in the new curl stuff. And it's a nice
feeling when you're comfortable with the letting go. I said
that to Matt today. I said, sometimes I do TV
and I'm a bit like I overthink it. I kind
of over bake it, overwork it, and I hold on
(09:54):
a bit tight. I do the same with my acting,
and today I was just like super mallow, super chill,
clear but not overthinking it, and I just had.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Lots of fun. So yeah, all right, that's me, fam bam.
I think it unreal, Banana Peel.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Talk to you in a week and I'll be forty then,
oh my god, I'm pumped, all right, poru big love
bollomly
