Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing. I'm a
bit of a nomad, so these episodes come to from
wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time, so
I'll share with you what's going on in my world,
from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health discoveries,
(00:22):
to swimming in hidden Byron Bay beaches. Come with me
as I share my adventures with you. Hello Radio, Okay,
I'm going to give it to you real. I'm going
to give it to you very real. And we had
a corrupted SD card for you. At people that don't
aren't in pod world at all, you're probably like, what
(00:44):
are you talking about. But basically, in podcast land, if
you record on an analog zoom recorder, which is what
we do, you record it all onto an SD card.
Our SD card was just kind of like a bit
finnicky last week, but then it worked fine when we
tested it, and yesterday I interviewed an incredible big Hollywood
(01:07):
costume designer, Beautiful Christopher, and the files corrupted, which means
that interview is no bornos, it is not happening, it's
not going ahead. Well, it's going ahead. We're re recording
it tomorrow. So anyway, you know me, I'm a waltzon
Ald kind of goal I'll tell you the good and
the bad and the ugly. So that was not fun
(01:30):
for me because I am an overplanner. I'm a heavy
researcher and I plan my days out and I also
don't like taking the mickey of other people's time. But
Christopher has graciously said he'll jump back on the pod
again tomorrow, which means to you, the listener, you'll get
your Monday episode as planned, and it's all going to
(01:52):
be behind the scenes of Hollywood costume design and Christopher.
He just did set New York Court Stealing with Austin Butler,
Matt Smith, Zoey Krabatz. He also did The Fallout with
I always say his name wrong, as it Walton Goggins
or Goalten's it's that name and he's off white Lotus
(02:13):
and he's so funny. Okay, I'm just gonna have a
quick slip in my Orli pop, which is kind of
like a pre biotic soda, very low sugar, and I
get the call of flavor. Just in case anyone wanted
to buy me a Prezzo. No, just in case you're
visiting La anyway. So yet in Podland, we've had this
(02:35):
pot for six years now, it's over seven hundred EPs.
We have lost one full interview before too, actually one
with our friend Geordana, and then that was a different situation.
Matt accidentally wiped the SD card, which I haven't let
him forget. And Jordana again exactly what Christopher's doing, came
over and we recorded it. So so grateful for Christopher
(02:59):
art to for coming back over. So that'll come out Monday.
How flipping kol, How great the Monday just gone? You
have clear lovering Aussie actress making big waves here in America.
She's in a new movie with Mark Wahlberg called Play Dirty.
It's on Amazon Prime Now or Amazon and it's number one.
(03:20):
I think it's like number one movie on Amazon. How
go watch it? Go stream it. It's like fun comedy
crime thriller, all set New York but shot in Sydney.
You want to know more about the behind the scenes,
just listen to the because Claire shares loads of it.
She's got some really good her work ethics really cool,
and she's got some really cool like tips for actors
as well. So go and listen to that. All right,
(03:44):
life updates. I think I told you last week had
a really exciting meeting waiting for that response on that.
Haven't had a response yet. I'm also very very impatient,
my friends, So I'm kind of struggling with like holding
out for a response. But I'm just you know, focusing
on my breath. I'm just being like Lola, It'll unfold
(04:04):
as it's meant to, so cross your fingers and toes.
So little prayer for that. Okay, fun things that have
happened in the last week. First of all, we'll get
into a little bit of book club today, by the way,
and we'll do our Oracle card reading at the end.
But the week that was, my mate, beautiful Chloe invited
me to a screening of a play from the National Theater.
(04:26):
So the National Theater, I believe, is in London. They're
kind of like the krem de la Creme of theater.
It's kind of like Broadway in New York and the
National Theater. And like I hope I'm saying that West
End in London and Broadway, New York. I'm presuming the
National Theater is there because like all my like theater
acting buds rave about the National Theater, and it's like
(04:47):
where because Andy Scott did Hamlet and like Bernard come back?
Is that his name? What's his name? Benedict come aback?
He did something like Anyway, I really feel like I'm
digging a hole for myself here and not knowing enough
about the National Theater. But anyway, we went to a
screening of a play that I believe is currently on
at the National Theater. It's called inter Aliyah and that's Latin,
(05:14):
but the play itself is not Latin. It's about a judge.
And the lead actress in this play is incredible. She's
off Saltburn and she says that great line in Saltburn.
I was lesbian once and it was just a little
bit too wet for me, she says that line. You
know that, but let me find here. Here we are, okay.
(05:34):
So the production from the National Theater, it is a
play called inter Aaliyah by this by the writer Susie Miller,
who was Beffine behind Prima. I'm getting fussy anyway, that
lead actress I want to say, it's Rosamund Poek. I
(05:56):
hope I'm saying that. Let me just this love that
I'm doing my I have written all my pod notes,
and of course I did not triple check the cast. Okay,
here we go, Here we go, Here we go, Here
we go, Here we go, com Rosmond Pike. Yes, I knew,
(06:21):
I knew my I knew my I just I knew
I knew I was on the money. Okay. So Rosmond
Pike plays this incredible Crown Court judge. Her character's name
is Jessica Parks. It is currently on I believe. The
(06:42):
play explores the challenges faced by a working mother who
must balance her demanding legal career with family and practicality
after an event that threatens to upend her world. Really good,
really good, So Rosamund Pike does not leave the stage.
(07:03):
It is incredible, slash like her stamina must be through
the roof, so cl so cool. Like quite heavy content.
But it didn't feel triggering, if that makes sense obviously,
like read check the triggers before you go, if you're
gonna go, or if you're gonna go and see it
in the cinema, see you it's incredible. I saw that
(07:25):
Monday night, and I'd never been to this theater. We
went to this city in Glendale called LEMI. I really
feel like my is it La may orl Me. I'm
gonna say it's LAMI. It was really cool, really cute,
little house vibe. I love finding them. Like, so over
(07:46):
here you've got AMC, which is like your Houtzel village, right,
remember we used to have Greater Union to Anyway, I'm
probably edging myself and AMC is like houts essentially, it's everywhere.
It's amazing and they're gonna have all the blockbusters. But
there are all these all really cool little arthouse theaters,
Like there's the Vista, which is owned by Quentin Tarantino.
(08:07):
There's the New Beverly, also owned by Quentin Tarantino. There's
the Lost Feelers three, like it is really really cool.
All the art house cinemas and I hadn't heard of
this LEMI Cinema Innglandale. Really cool. My mate loved it.
Lots of fun. Okay, since we last spoke, I took
(08:29):
my mate to see one Battle after another. Sam is
his name, my butto, and I'd already seen it. He
really wanted to see it, and I was like, count
me in. So we saw that at the grove. I
go to the grove, not that often actually, but I've
been to the Grove loads. It's like one of the
first places you go when you're an Aussie in La
and it's essentially an outdoor mall or shopping center, that's
(08:50):
the best way to describe it. And it's La sunny
all the time, gorge and at the moment it feels
very fall. There's pumpkins everywhere and da da dah. It
was great. So busy though. We were on a Saturday
and it was like what I imagine Chadston Shoppings and would
be like on a Saturday mentor so busy, but we
had fun. We went to Barns and Noble, which is
(09:13):
a big book chain here but like three level high bookstore,
so cool and you can read in the bookstore. Anyways,
took my mate Sam there, then he came over for
dinner at bo and Bosco made a stins after one
battle off after another. The new Paul Thomas Anderson movie
is incredible. It is long though, it's two hours and
(09:33):
forty two minutes. As I said last week when I
told you about it, I love Leonardo DiCaprio in it.
I love Benizio del Toro in it. I think I
should mention how good Sean Pennies. He plays a villain
and he does this really creepy thing with his lips
and you're just like, ugh, yuck, but perfect for the character,
you know. Incredible movie or Bosses just texted me, so
(09:56):
he's just we we've had a truck the whole I've
been here and we just had to give it back.
So Matt is on he just got a Lime scooter
and I said, which is basically, I don't know if
we've got the min Australia, but you basically he said
to me, laughing eyes, he said, I made it. I
want to pick. He's got some profodo with this pick, right,
(10:19):
I just wrote sem picks. But yeah, we had to
give the truck back. We were borrowing it from a
butto and trucks are like soul American, so fun to drive,
but they guzzle fuel like there's no tomorrow, and we
were spending one hundred bucks a week on petrol. And
I was like, I bet you're gonna save all this money.
(10:40):
Man's Matt's like, I'm going to try a Lime scooter
and I was like what, He's like, Yeah, I'm going
to try any of limes. Anyway, and I was like,
you're on your own son. So he got that today
and he said I made it loll So anyway, very funny. Okay,
So I want to talk about some books because I
went to Marts and Noble. I haven't been reading much
of late. I haven't and my mate Alex lent me
(11:04):
this book Blood of Hercules a while ago. I think
I told you about it last week. Anyway, I finished
it or in three days. It's so good. I mean,
it's just such a really good what did I say,
trip details? No, I want to phattle of him. Sorry,
you boo. He's gonna telling you this on the top,
(11:29):
you'd better send me in front of him. And that's
limes gird limes. Okay. My brain has definitely been a
pingbom with MBA where basically limescooters is like Ubers for
scooters though, and they're super cheap. Anyway, back to Blood
of Hercules. I was telling you last week I was
reading it. It's by this chip called Jasmine Mass and
it's really good. It's set in like spartan war camp vibes,
(11:53):
not war camp like trials, and then they get to
be like a god or DEMI God at the end
of it. Oh yeah, he's gonna send it. He's going
to send a photo on the way back. It's a
nine minute it's a nine minute scoot. Okay, that's cute.
It's really good. It's a page turner. It's if you
like Akata, you know Cordathorna Roses that series, if you
(12:14):
liked Fourth Wing that series, you're gonna like this. She
can talk to a snake. She's kind of got this
pet snake. She's talking to our lead protagonist. And that's
cool in and of itself. There's a lot of like
mystical creatures. There's a lot of shadow Daddy vibes. The
only thing that I wasn't prepped for was I wouldn't
call it polyamorousness or polyamordy, like it was more like
(12:42):
or use the wrong word, like multiple partners, being with
multiple people at one time. And that is a big theme,
like in like the spice section of this book, if
that makes sense, a big theme. But it's like it's
there's not much from what I can gather, not really
like when you read Akata, when you read far Out,
(13:09):
I've read all these other ones, you know, when you
read Fourth Wing, and that it's kind of that like
enemy so lobvers one lover for it, like Rasan whatever
his name is from Akata or Zayden from Fourth Wing,
Like there is that one kind of like guy, and
maybe there might be someone else beforehand that we like Tamlin.
We're like, oh, maybe there's none of that in this.
(13:31):
It's like it's like you're being shared by Moulto. So
that was just like getting my head around being a
monogamous girling myself. It was just like I had to
get out of my own viewpoint and get into the
viewpoint of the character to appreciate it. But really cool.
Bonds of Hercules, which is the sequel to this, comes
(13:52):
out on the twenty eighth of October. Really pumped for it,
looking forward to it basically though, and I don't want
to give too much away, but it's like, yeah, you
you link up. It seems like you link up with
a couple or multiple people when you do, not just
(14:12):
a one person at a time kind of situation. Anyways,
that was new for me. That was new for me
to read. And then my friend Josh has recommended Red
Rising by a Pierce Brown. Now I got boss to
order this for me because it's Amazon Prime and everything's
on Souff. Anyway, this is I think this is sci
(14:34):
fi but basically this I don't think there's any romance
and this this is much more Hunger Games Game of
Thrones vibe. But I love both Hunger Games and Game
of Thrones, So Josh, I'm gonna read this one for you.
I do like a little bit of spice though, so
but it's not a mess massive read like, it's not
crazy thick. So I think I'm going to start red
(14:55):
rising because Blood of Hercules is out, and I mean
Bonds of Hercules is out in a couple of weeks now.
The next one I got is a whopper of a
book is called Alchemized by shen Lyn Yu and this
is the same author of Manacord, which I would have
told you about loads about a year ago. Manacled is
(15:16):
fanfic of Harry Potter. I have a copy. I did
not buy it. I traded for it, which is how
you meant to do it. And it is amazing. But
it's really heavy, like I love dark fantasy. I think
that's my favorite genre to read, which a lot of
Hercules is, and it's like dark and a bit dangerous
and a bit scary and spooky, but there's also enemies
(15:39):
for lovers tropes in there and stuff like that. This
is dark to a whole new level Handmaid's Tale level dark.
So I'm holding off on starting that for a little while.
I'm actually gonna sit it with my copy of Manicord
and just let them spiritually sit together. I'm my next
plan is to go Red Rising and then Bonds of Hercules,
and I got Boss to autom is it Guild the
(16:02):
first book of a big series as well, which is
about somebody that's got the Mitas touch, like King Midas,
and he touches our protagonists and turns her to gold
but keeps her in a guild and cage. Apparently that
series is amazing, but you don't meet the love interest
to book two or three, which is a little frustrating. Anyway,
we'll see, I'll report back on it all. So there
(16:23):
you go. There's my verbal diary on book club. I
haven't done book Club for ages with you, but I
just thought Boss and I are in a very creative
face career wise right now, and so it's really fun
when you're kind of in creativity to be consuming a
lot of like watching shows and reading books in your
spare time. And I've got a little bit of travel
coming up, so I love to read and what shows
(16:45):
when no travel anyway, So there you go. There's that one. Now,
what was I going to tell you next? I feel
like I was about to tell you something. We have
just booked a little trip to celebrate our dear friend
Craig's birthday, which is really exciting. So we're looking forward
to that. Just pulled the trigger on Airbnb, like and
we're literally staying in an airstream have fun. I go.
(17:06):
I can hear my phone buzzing. Surely that means Boss
is sending me photos. Damn it. I really wanted to
tell you what he looked like on his little scodent. Okay,
so I'm going to do a card pool now. So
I feel like my brain's been a bit all over
the shop today. Guys. You know, I'm so we're so
lucky that Christopher's coming back on the pod tomorrow. I
(17:29):
tell you, I tell you. Okay, there's a couple of
cards that are falling out, so I'm going to put
them to the side and we'll read them as well. Okay, Okay,
you know the way that I roll, and that is
I pull three cards from the deck, usually past, present, Future.
I look at the top of the deck, bottom of
the deck. So for the past, it is simplify your life.
(17:51):
Eliminate clutter from your home and work life to balance
the flow of activities present now today. Mother healing. That
doesn't need to be your mum. That can be any
female figure that feels wiser than you. Doesn't need to
be older, just wise like you know that. Friends you
turn to when you're like eh, I don't know what
to do as your feelings towards your mother heel, your
desires manifest more rapidly and accurate, accurately, future, helpful person,
(18:18):
someone wants to help you. Think of who that might
be and initiate contact. I love that Top of the deck.
Self forgiveness. Let go of old guilt and remember that
you are God's perfect child. Bottom of the deck. Love
this card positive energy. Surround yourself with positive people and situations,
and avoid negativity. The two cards that fell out synchronicity.
(18:41):
Your prayers and questions are being answered by synchronousic events.
Notice them in order to increase their flow and treasure chest.
An unforeseen windfall of new abundance comes to you now.
I love treasure test I love synchronicity, and I love
positive energy. The other ones kind of feel a bit lessening,
those ones that fell out. I love, I love, I
(19:02):
love so positive energy. Surround yourself with positive people and
situations and avoid negativity. Synchronicity, your prayers and questions are
being answered by synchronistic events. Notice them in order to
increase their flow. Treasure chests. An unforeseen windfill of new
abundance comes for you now. Very cool, very cool in
(19:23):
this like supermoon Hunter's moon in areas that we have
right now, which is all about big letting goes, and
also like the courage to have really big boundaries as well.
So how good I am praying that this episode recorded
for you, even though I felt like i'd a been
all over the shop because we're using a brand new
(19:44):
SD card, which means good news is it's just the
SD card that's scrupted. We don't need to buy a
whole new machine, which was quite expensive anyway. One more
thing I want to say to you, I am not
for a little while, but soon going to be recording
some podcasts in Australia. I'll have a day in Sydney
(20:05):
and a day in Melbourne. Please DM me on Instagram
and write to me about who you'd like to have
on the pod. Can be a returning guest, can be
a freshie. I've got some ideas myself. But yeah, I
have a recording day booked in Sydney and I'm trying
to lock down a recording day in Melbs. And I'm
so pumped. You know how much I love this pottero.
(20:27):
So I really I really hope that you know, yeah,
it keeps rolling, and not even that, it's just that
I hope that I can bring on some people that
you want to hear on the pod. You know, some
people that you love that are based in those areas.
So yeah, so Fingers and toast Cross, we have a
(20:47):
really strong recording sesso in both CIDs and Melbs. That
is me, My Gangles. I'll have a really fun update
for you next week. Yes, next week, I'll have a
really really fun update for you. I'm gonna be really
honest with you though we are. We have got a
little bit of travel next week, so I'm going to
(21:08):
have to bring out this pod diary one day later.
Just next week because I would rather the pod diary
hover a little bit of the what we've got going
on because it's so exciting. So we'll come out one
day later. Oh my goodness, boss has just sent me
a video of him on a scooter. Guys. Ah, so cute,
(21:34):
so cute. Oh my god, you've got a scooter, guys.
A little bit. All right, I feel like my brain
was a pinball machine today. Anyway, I think you're amazing
and have a riper day. And yes, next so Monday, EP,
you'll get Christopher Monday. When wednesdayp you'll get Christopher in
(21:55):
the hot seat that we recorded fine yesterday, those files
weren't corrupted. And then Friday Diary. I will literally be
flying when it would come out. So I really want
you just gonna be one day Grace, and I'll drop
it one day later so you can get the diary.
(22:15):
I'll talk to the boss of cheen Go about that.
He's funny about that. He might try and get me
to record it in advance. We will see, but I
would like to give it to you one day later,
if that's okay with you, guys, all right, all right, hooru, hooru, hooru.
I think you Gorgruno, and yeah, I think you're absolutely
flipping wonderful. Have a ripper day and go out and
(22:38):
do the stuff you love, all right By
