(00:23):

I love it.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I know some people don't do that, which I recommend
you should.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, that's fair, that's fair, that's fair. I saw this
is a total side note. I saw this. Australian TV
host Osha Ginsburg and he did a stand up show
and he shared at a trauma when he was a
child and he had to sing. It was the only
way he could share the trauma, isn't that? And then

(01:06):
he would speak the rest of the standard. Probably why no,
But isn't that fascinating? It's like I felt safer for him? Yeah, fascinating.
Sweet or savory, my friend? Oh sweet, you're still going
through oats phase or you're in a bagel phase now. Bagel? Yep,
bit abbo.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Bagel, bagel, bagel, bagel avo. Every morning I have like
avocado my bagel with cream cheese and chili flakes and spinach.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Oh, sign me up. Yep, that's very good. Sign up.
Yeah that sounds real. Favorite city, Oh, I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Oh gosh, favorite city I know, I mean very many.
Can it be like one in my mind?

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah? Crystal Land nice, nice with lots of like rose
courts and all that.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I just my favorite city is a beach.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah. Well, well the next was an h spot. Oh
gocause you're Pisces.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
I'm Scorpio.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Oh yeah, that's right, you're the fire of the water scorpio.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Oh. My favorite nature spot is oh gosh, Queensland beaches
my mom's property and laying in the paddock under the trees.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Do you have like animals like horses and stuff?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I used to like I grew up with cows and
horses and one time I washed an eagle carry my duck.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Away, No my duck, yeah, eagle ate the duck.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Well he carried it away, so really know what happened next.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
But no, okay, okay, no, no, I love I love
the oath, the honesty.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
You have a fear, Do I have a fear?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Comes? I have a fear.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah, I have a fear of not being chosen.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, I think we've all got that.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Bye. Yeah, oh by what by like a like in
like a partners.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Younger than me? Rightise, Someone gave me this advice and
I was like, I'm going to be alone forever. I'm like,
I'm gonna get all my goals, but I'll like go
home with the oscar and I'll be alone.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yep, which like honestly not badly.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, But and a friend was like who was older
than me? My friend was like, if you want a partner,
you will have a partner. And it was like a
really strange.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Like so interesting because I don't even I don't even
know if I can clearly say I want a partner,
I think because I can't fully envision it right now,
like I guess I do. But I truly love my
like independent life a lot. Yeah, and I think I've
worked out how to kind of deal with myself and

(03:44):
the best that I can kind of be and that's
all been alone.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
So yeah, but I feel you on that. I always like,
my boyfriend will be like, oh, I've got to leave.
You need alone time, you need a lone wolf time,
and I'm like one hundred percent. And we've got mates
that are like, oh, we're just like so codependent and
we just love being around one other.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I was like, absolutely, yeah, I do want that. No,
I like I do. Okay, I'll say it right now.
I do want to partner relationship. I do want a relationship.
I do want a partner blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, but you can have both. You know, you can
have a really supportive partner that understands that you thrive
and need alone time as well. That's totally normal, well
not normal, it's totally okay.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Definitely.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I think that's the right way to say. Okay, what's
one of your favorite qualities about yourself?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Ooh? I think I like that I am quite upfront
with where I how I feel, and I think people
have said to me they're like, oh, I know where
I stand. With you all the time, and sometimes it
does well, I don't really know I'm doing it. It'll
just come out and I'll give my honest opinion from love.

(04:49):
Most well, I think it's most of the time. Yeah,
but I think I like that I can be upfront
but also like have space for the other person. I
think maybe, yeah, I like that.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yeah, that's not feels like a superpower to me. Well,
people don't know where they stand, like, I think it's
nice to know where you There's nothing worse than feeling
you know, when you hang out with someone and you
walk away and you feel icky and you don't understand why,
Like the conversation is really positive or felt really like nice,
and you're like, oh, why do I feel like spiritually

(05:26):
sick or something like? It's really so I imagine by you
just being like cool, this is where I'm at.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
I think it builds like closer relationships with people.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Too, definitely more genuine.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, you don't have to be like a Meani, But
I think it's okay to be like I feel this way.
I mean, I think there's different there's it depends because
I think some people project a bit and are like
instead of reflecting on like their kind of process. They
put it on someone else. But I think if someone

(05:57):
asks me, what do you think of this, or like
do you feel this way? I will be very honest
and it always has improved my relationships, friendships, whatever.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
It's also refreshing, yeah, like just being real.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I think it's a fake world.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Absolutely. Do you have a non negotiable?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Oh? In what way?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Like, is it like something that you're like It sounds
like you might have already answered it, but it's something
that you're like, this is kind of like like one
of my non negotiables is like I like to get
out in nature and like even if it's just to
go for a walk each day or I like to
move my body each day, like it feels better for
my mental health or therapy or like writing journaling.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Okay, so non negotiable for myself.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah, like a self care practice.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Oh okay, I was gonna be like, if you don't
care about people's human rights, then I don't like you.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Oh happy you You're amazing.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
So yeah, there's that. That's anod shit.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
You share a lot of Like the stuff you've been
sharing is unreal.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
By the way, I think I have a platform, so
I want to use it in a specific way and
like it shouldn't be controversial.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Agreed.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah, but I my non negotiable. I mean, like tea
is a big one. I need a tea. Yeah, I
need a tea in the morning.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
I feel like my non negotiable should be to see water.
But tell me what water water. Australians listen to this
and everyone, But I moved to Melbourne as a Why
did I do that? I don't know. So now I
never see it, which is horrible.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. And even if you get to
like Port Melbourne or South Melbourne, it's not like the
prettiest body of.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
War the coast like a damn.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
You should like go up this if you should, if
you write this book of yours or the series you're
gonna write, get an Airbnb yep, and just go like
talky great ocean road.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
And I wanted to get a van and just go
travel like up the coast.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Yeah, it's so like one isn't the Twelve Apostles like
one of the great one is the world or something? Yeah?
Do that, my friend. Okay, it's not fair of me
to ask actors these questions so you can you can.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Be like what's your favorite?

Speaker 1 (08:12):
What one is play? And one is movie favorite?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Play? Oh oh, oh my gosh, okay wait hold on,
can it be a musical?

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Okay, hmm, oh my gosh, well my favorite? Well okay, okay,
it depends on the day. But I like, I know
it's so popular right now for lack of a better word,
but I love Wicked.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, okay, amazing.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
I love Wicked.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Did you love the movie as well? Yes? Yeah, yeah,
I loved it.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
I think it was I think they did such an
incredible job, seriously, like obsessed with it. But I've always
loved Wicked. I love I saw the Australian musical. Oh
my gosh, oh Muriel's Wedding.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Oh yeah, that would have been fun.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
It was so good.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
And like Muriel's Wedding as a film is like my
one of my mom and I is like favorite films,
like and we like as I was growing up, we
watched it and yeah, I love.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
I just think it's so funny.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
How is that razor Blades line? It's like, say, it
isn't that? Like I'd rather swallow race blades and have
with Dea Muriel or something like that you did.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
That's so good.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
It's something like that, isn't it? It's that?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
And also well you know the famous line real terrible Muriel. Yes,
I had said that in so long. I also yeah, hm,
god perfect, going through like all the plays I've ever seen,
they Ah, wait, hold on, I can't remember it. I

(09:58):
shouldn't it? No is it called I'm not gonna say
that because I can't remember it. There's been There's been.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Many, that's all right, though I don't remember half of that.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
And favorite movie like it changes all the time because
I'm always like, do you mean like forever as a kid?

Speaker 1 (10:15):
It just what's in your zeitgeist now? Like what do
you like for you right now? Or that you saw recently?
Like I saw one battle after another recently and I'm like,
I've seen that twice. I loved it.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Yeah, something that i've What the heck have I watched recently?
I've watched a bunch of horror, But.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
No, say horror the weapons you love, didn't you?

Speaker 2 (10:38):
No, I haven't even seen it yet.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Oh it's clear I saw weapons.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I saw weapons. Yeah, she keeps talking about it. Yeah, okay,
oh yeah, yeah, but we're doing like the oh no,
that's people keep doing the actions of weapons. I need
to go see it. I need, I really need to
see it.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Probably.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
I watched a film recently called Swallow.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
I think it's like a twenty nineteen Canadian film, and
I think it's great. It's basically about this. Well I
don't want to trigger anyone with what I say, but
like with a woman who like swallows different objects basically

(11:19):
to like regain some form of control. She's a stay
at home, pregnant wife and her husband's a complete dick hole.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
I don't like dick hole.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
But it's like she decides it's it's just incredible, Like
it's I really, I really, I really like it. It's
a bit yeah, it's very psychological.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
I was gonna say, yeah, wow, yeah, my goodness. Now
I know I asked you with this in the long form,
So to the listener, if you haven't listened to the
Monday yet, go back and listen. But any tip bit
of advice for a creative, you know, if they're just
like in a bit of a slump or in a
bit of a lull, or not sure where what the
next movie is.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Hmmm, well go to La No, No, it's expensive.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
It is so expensive.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
I think, just based on my experience, it like a
change of sounds so dumber, Like a change of scenery
is really really good, and it's like living like don't
forget that you're a human and you need to be
having these experiences, like don't wait around for this, like
honestly like non existent thing to come to you. Your

(12:30):
opportunities are going to come, like they will come to you,
the ones that I meant for you will come to you.
And I think, just stay open, stay flexible, and remember
there's like beautiful experiences out there there, really really is
that are outside of this industry. Go to get out
in the environment, take a book, write something down, create

(12:55):
in your own way. Figure out like how you can
create in your own way, and that might look different
to you than your friend. Like don't compare, do not compare.
There is absolutely no point. I know it's hard not
to do.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
That, but my acting coach here says, comparison is an
actor's cancer. Oh yeah, oh I felt that in my
yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a goodie.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, And it's hard. It is very difficult not to
do that, but I think I do believe the more
that you are kind of nourishing yourself. Away from this
you know job, you are able to find more joy
for yourself, which inherently translates to finding more joy for

(13:39):
other people who are succeeding, and you're less likely to
compare yourself to them. Find the joy, Find the joy.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Love it. Final question, when you get good news, who's
the first person you call.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
That makes me want to cry? My god? I mean
my mom. Yeah, it's my mom. It is my mom,
like cliche, but it's my mama. We have like three
hour long phone calls. I think our longest. It's like
going on like five hours, so good. But I will
call my mom and every time I have this thing

(14:11):
that when she doesn't answer, I text her and go,
no worries, you hate me, no worries, your homophobica?

Speaker 1 (14:18):
What does she write? What does she write?

Speaker 2 (14:20):
She's so used to it now, so just like call
me back with this face FaceTime. But yeah, definitely. Do
you know what though, if I'm gonna get real sappy? Oh,
I don't know if I want to say it, but
it's actually when I if I first gotten good news.
This sounds so lame, but like I will talk to
like little Emma. Oh, and be like hey, girl like

(14:44):
let her kind of take it in and then like, yeah,
I love that. Go to my mother.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
You're incredible, my friend. I cannot wait to see You're incredible.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Thanks for You're the great host.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
I love chatting with you. I could talk to you
all day long, but you have two more pods and
an audition to a or doer that don't even remind me.
You are NonStop my friend.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
True.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
I can't wait to say next time we get to Crossbelt.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Thank you. I hope it's sirn. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:13):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
