Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your diary episode. Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm a bit of a nomad, so these episodes come
to from wherever I'm living or traveling to at the time,
so I'll share with you what's going on in my world.
From book tours, animal encounters, delish meals, nature adventures, health discoveries,
to swimming in Hidden Byron Bay beaches. Come with me
(00:26):
as I share my adventures with you. Hello, friends, Welcome
to your Los Angeles pod diary. Last week when I
spoke to you, we were about to head away for
our mates birthday and slash Halloween. We went up past
Santa Barbara to a little place called Los Levos and
(00:48):
it was so much fun.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
We had a great time.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
And if you want to hear more about that, we
did a whole spooky season special episode that came out
on Monday, so you can go and listen to that.
I've just started recording and I'm realized I forgot to
put the pop filter on this mic because I have
a tendency to sound plosive. Boss will say, so, let
me pop this filter on one set. You probably heard
me do that.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Now it's on.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Now I can be as plosive as I want. It's
my p's and t's and s's and all that. Anyway,
that's just a bit of BTS pod life. So that
if you want to hear anything about Halloween and visiting
Wine Country, all of that, that is going to be
in Monday's Spooky Halloween episode. We did a hot Seat
(01:34):
episode around that as well. So that is the last
couple of episodes that have just come out. Today is
just the week that was. I've actually had some big
pods locking literally over the last forty eight hours. So
I've got a podcast with an actor tomorrow and they've
just sent me a screener for the show he's in,
so boss, and I'm gonna have to watch episodes back
to back from probably like four or five this avo.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I'll probably have to do that. Yes, that's so much fun.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
This actor is in a movie called or TV show
sorry that streaming on Peacock called All Her Fault, starring
Sarah Snook. So I'll watch that tonight in preparation because
tomorrow I interview the actor. How fun we are also,
Oh and then I have another interview the next day,
no on Sunday, with a psychologist. Her name's Janna Firestone.
(02:26):
I've been on her pot before. She's got a pod
called The Curious Life. I believe that's what it's called, Yeah,
the Curious Life podcast. And she's also got two books out.
But the one that I've been reading is prep is
called is called Plot Twist, A Personal Guide to Surviving
Life's Unexpected curve balls. It's really so far, I'm probably
(02:47):
like a quarter of the way in. It's really unpacking
grief and how people move through it, and also the
tools that can be used to navigate your way through
grief as well. So it's and it is the way
that Yana writes is a story telling style, so it
doesn't feel super heavy, even though the subject matter is
(03:11):
really heavy, if that makes sense. She makes it really
digestible because when I read the first few pages, I
was like, Oh, I better strap in. This is going
to be really gnally and hard to read because you
know it's all about grief.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
But it is actually just a.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Really honest, vulnerable personal account through a psychologist's lens or
a counselor's lens.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
I think she's a psychologist.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
It says on the back humans are undeniably creatures of habits.
So when sudden, unexpected plot twists pull the metaphorical rug
from beneath their feet, it can sometimes feel impossible to
regain our footing. Therapist and podcaster Yana Firestone knows this
better than most after losing her mum suddenly at the
(03:57):
age of twenty one and spending many years providing professional
counseling for her clients during the darkest days, but in
bearing witness to outpourings of grief, loss and pain on
a daily basis, Yanna also experience and observed remarkable resilience, transformation,
and hope. Sharing her own stories as well as the
(04:17):
hard won wisdom of people who have been side swept
by curveballs, Yanna applies a warm and practical therapist lens
on learning to survive and eventually thrive during the most
challenging days of our lives. So one wrote this a
balm for the soul, a practical and powerful guide. Yeah,
really really beautifully written. And like I said, I'm only
(04:39):
a quarter theway, and so I've got to really pop
my skates on with both the podcast preps, so one
being tomorrow and the other one being Sunday, and need
to get through seven episodes of this new show tonight
in preparation for tomorrow's pod, plus research all the other
body of work that this actor has done, and then
(05:00):
get ready for Yana on Sunday. Also, Yanna has two podcasts,
so I've just got a lot of prep to do. Anyway,
there's the inner workings of my mind right now. So
we're pretty much in pod prep mode. And I got yes,
I got put on hold for an acting thing. So basically,
(05:21):
when you get put on hold, they do what's called
an availability check. So I do the available availability check
and it's like are you They had to answer questions
am I comfortable playing an unhoused person slash junkie?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
And I was like, no props.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
And then I had to share like exactly what length
and color my hair was right now? And then I
had to say if I had any visible tattoos, which
obviously now I've had to say, yes, I sure do
because Wilson, I got two more tattoos last week, so
now I have three tattoos all on my arm. As
my friend said, I went from zero to hero on
the tattoo department. Okay, So the other thing I wanted
(05:57):
to make mention of in this pod diary app is
we have a full mon Taurus going on right now.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
I haven't read up about it.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I have just made some notes on like intuitively what
I am feeling. So this is what came up as
soon as I started like journaling about the full moon.
First up, we have a fullmen in Taurus. This vibe
is going to shake things up. So if you're having
strained dreams, that could be why this is a little
pre mercury retrograde shakeup. Tauruses don't like bs, so use
(06:27):
the full moon as a bullshit detector and let go
of anything that's weighing you down. That's my whole vibe
on Tauruses that it's like, you know what you get
with a Taurus. They kind of like they don't really
hold back, but not in a fiery, like saggy kind
of like Leo.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Way or Arie's way.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
They are more like, I just feel like they're allergic
to bullshit. That's my take on to I really like Tauruses.
My old boss was a Taurus and we got on
like a house on fire. Also Virgos Taurus Earth, Earth, Earth,
the other thing that just stuff that's been happening this week,
what we're watching. I've been watching an old Western TV
show called Tombstone.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
It is awesome.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
It is literally set in this town called Tombstone in Arizona,
I believe, which still exists. And now it's on my
bucket travel list for America. And it's the TV show
was on from nineteen fifty seven to nineteen sixty. It
starred Pat Conway and Richard East Theam and it's filming
in black and white. I'm loving it.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
I'm loving it. Love me. It's just on Amazon Prime.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
The episodes are like thirty minutes and it's just fun
because Matt's a night worker. But we usually watch TV
together before we go to bed. So if I get
really tired and want to go to bed earlier, I've
got a face mask on or something like that, I'll
find myself. I'll get into bed and just watch an
episode of Tombstone before he comes to bed.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Loving it.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
And then at the moment we're both giving Witcher season
four a crack, which, as you know, is if you're
a witch a fan or a fantasy genre a fan.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Which we are.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
There's a bit of controversy because for the first three
seasons was mister Henry Cavill, who literally felt like he
was designed to play that role and the role was Garrel,
and it felt because he was so invested in the role,
like as a kid played the video games or as
(08:17):
a teenager played the video games, and then like researched
it so heavily that on set people I believe, like
people would turned him for like fact checking essentially. So
he loved it and he wore that character, and that
character wore him so well, like it was just such
a good fit, like from the fight scenes down to
(08:37):
the way he grunted and swore and all that kind
of thing. So the rumor on the there was all
these different reasons for why he left Witcher. I don't
know which is true, but basically the theory was he
was going to go and do Superman. Then the director,
either the director of Superman change or something changed and
they went with a different actor. But he'd already given
(08:59):
up his spot on Witcher by that stage.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
And there is.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
A belief that he really wanted to stay true to
the video games, and the showrunners weren't. That's kind of
from what I can gather on TikTok so take it
or leave it, Brain of Salt, all that kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Well else.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
So yet as of tonight, we'll click in and watch
all her Fault just to research this. Guess it's going
to be literally chilling and recording the pod with me
tomorrow this time tomorrow will be literally recording the pod,
which is really exciting. And then, like I said, I'm
reading Plot Twist, a personal guide surviving life's unexpected curveballs.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
I'm reading that at the moment, she's an Aussie rider.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
She's basically coming to America because she's really into Bravo
TV shows, you know, like reality TV, and there's Bravo
Connon in Vegas and it's a big deal. So that's
why she's in America. So I can't wait to pick
her brain on all that stuff because I'm not a
huge reality kiddo, but I'm fascinated to hear what a
psych of those shows on what she thinks of those characters,
(10:03):
Just fascinated. She calls it pop therapy, so I want
to hear all about it. And then I've also just
ordered the sequel to Blood of Hercules. I told you
about it a few weeks ago. I inhaled it and
read it in like I think three or four days.
So Bonds of Hercules is the second one. It's been
out for like a week or two. Can't wait. Apparently
it's arriving today hasn't arrived yet. Not mad about that though,
(10:24):
because I have to get through this book and the
TV show before the Pods kickoff. But the second I
stopped recording on Sunday, boy you bet boy, Oh, you
bet your bottom dollar.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
That's what I'll be reading.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
I'm sure I probably will have finished it by the
time I record with you next week. So That's where
I'm at right now. Also, I'm obsessed with this song.
I just discovered it on TikTok. I'm going to play
it for you, oh am, I going to be able
to It's called When the Lights Guide in Georgia. I
think it's like a really ominous song, like about true
(10:58):
crime or something.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
God, I think I got it.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Is this?
Speaker 1 (11:04):
It is this the.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Song The Night the Lights Went The Night the Lights
Went Out in Georgia by Briley King.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Let me see if I can play it for you?
How good? Anyway? I really like it. I'm just listening
to them. I'm just sharing that with you. That are
(11:35):
we going on my Western playlist? Foreshore, I'm also.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Just in the middle of negotiating a little Instagram deal
at the moment with my managers. So I'm doing I
think I've told you I do a lot of Instagram work.
It's kind of like, obviously the pot is my passion
and acting as my passion, but I with acting, I've
done the pilot and I'm just auditioning, so I haven't
really bought any money from being true about with acting,
(12:03):
and the pot is amazing, but some months it's really profitable,
in some months it's not. It's just the way kind
of like Podland works. So I do influencer work in
between all of that. And there's this brief for this
company that's coming. I really am excited to work with them,
but it's just at the moment it's a lot of
back and forth and me being a control freak virgo
that I am.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I am doing a lot of reworking of the script.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
I'm sure you know how it all works, Like you
get a brief, then you send a script, then they
get it all checked by legal, then you do like
a mark two if it needs to be done, and then.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Mark three.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Usually usually by mark two it's done. And we're just
in that back and forth phase. But the deadline is crazy,
like they wanted it shot today, literally today, and there's
still two more rount, Like there's a round of script
edits that needs to get approved before we can do
any of that. So it's just it's interesting, like deadlines,
I mean deadlines for acting a pretty quick like that too,
(13:02):
Like you'll get an audition and it'll be due the
next day. But because with influencing stuff, it's got to
go through a legal team. The languaging and the scripting
has to be pretty bang on. Like everything I do
that's an influencer thing is usually a script that's been
fully written and I've had to learn it like an
acting gig, and.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Because it has to get approved by legal fascinating.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Hey, anyways, I mean in the middle of kind of
like a bit of back and forth with that at
the moment.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
But we're getting there. We're getting there. Oh and that's
the last thing I want to do.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
I put my Oracle cards in because I'm gonna pull
you an Oracle card.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Let me move the pod gear.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
We're also dogs sitting our lovely friend Chanelle's dog. The
dog's name is Mahalo. She's gorge but as I'm sitting
on the bed, I'm looking at a lot of mahalo here.
She's this gorgeous little black lab. She's so funny and
so sweet and so obedient. When you put your lead
(13:58):
on her, you just say get dressed and walks over
to the lead.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
It's the cutest little thing, all right.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Okay, so I have shuffled with my left hand. I'm
going to pull a past present future that one kind
of felt like I needed a bit more. And then
we'll look at the top of the deck and bottom
of the deck. Yeah, as same as usual. Okay, So
past positive energy, surround yourself with positive people in situations,
(14:24):
avoid negativity for the present one. Three cards one to
come out, so we're just going to turn them all.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
One is break free, try different ventures and experiences as
a way to learn and grow. The other one is
you're being helped. Heaven is working behind the scenes to
help you even if you don't see results yet. And
then the third one is wait, don't rush into action
right now, by your time for better results. And then
the future card is worthiness. Know that you deserve to
(14:51):
receive good in all ways. Top of the deck. Soul
mate relationship new romance with a spiritual bias.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Is here for you now.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Love that card. I assue so many spells with that
card when I was trying to bring in love. Mother
healing is the bottom of the deck. As your feelings
towards your mother. It doesn't need to be your mother.
It can be a feminine energy relationship in your life
that feels wiser or older as your feelings towards your mother.
Heal your desires manifest more rapidly and accurately.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Cool, very cool. I just want to understand that worthiness
piece because that's the future card. So I'm just going
to pull to more and put them over the top
of it, just to get a bit of clarity around
the future card. Okay, synchronicity, Your prayers and questions are
(15:47):
being answered by synchronistic events. Notice them in order to
increase their flow, and then make a decision. Feeling stuck
or indecisive, listen to your intuition and make a decision.
A card fell out of the deck as well. Protection
You and your loved ones and possessions are safe and
protected by Heaven. Top of the deck because I did
a shuffle Friendship, make a date for play, make a
(16:11):
date for a playdate with one or more friends.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Bottom of the deck. What's your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
It's important to think about what you desire, not what
you fear. I fall into that trap all the time.
Yeah cool, very cool. There you go, so positive energy,
break free, and then whatever one you felt was the
strongest for you for the future, I picked make a decision.
Feeling stuck or indecisive, listen to your intuition and make
(16:37):
a decision so that you have it.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Guys, who rue? Who RUI Oh, lots.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Of pods to record before next time I talk to you.
I think I will have recorded three by the time
we next speak, and I'm sure I will have a
lot more book rerecords because I've got to read these
books and watch this show quick so that I am
prepped for the podcasts this weekend.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
And that is me.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Boss is about to click into a big He's going
on a big health kick in a couple in what's
the date today in like a week or so oh
a bit over a week. So he's just enjoying himself
right now. But he's like, nah, I am going to
just like click in and just live my healthiest life.
So I'm going to do it with him, of course,
(17:23):
because it's so much more fun when you do it
with your partner, your partner in crime. But as a
result of him wanting to click into health mode, he's
having the time of his life right now. We had
this beautiful red wine last night. He made eggplant parmejana
and he had this special red wine that his brother
in law centers for our fortieth It's called Chateau Nupa Dupa.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
I think he's got his headphones on. He went, hemi booboe.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Yeah, he's his headphones on, wan hemi at Chateau Nupa
or nopool. Anyway, a French wine was like drinking velvet
was gorgeous. And the other night we caught up with
a bud and just had some whiskeys on the roof.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
That was so nice.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
So yeah, he's like I'm just enjoying myself for a
week and then he's in full blown health mode. I'm
trying to click in now, wish so that by the
time because he I like to just gently click in.
So like I've been sneaking, like we've been taking some
liver herbs and like I've got us on green powder.
Like I'm trying to like get that happening now so
(18:25):
that by the time he wants to go hardcore, we're
kind of already feeling pretty vital. My goal is to
go back to Australia because we're going back for crimbo,
having a little chrissy there.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Vital. That's what I keep saying to my mates. I
just want to feel.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Vital because if you're stressed out, like and if I'm
stressed or eat or drink, you're not so much drink
but more like eat the bit of a sugar kid.
So yeah, that's going to be I'm sure the tone
of the next few diary entries will probably I'll be
sharing a bit of like yogs, detoxing.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Eating really well and yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Just we're just trying to really look after ourselves so
that we can enjoy ourselves over chrissy and really feel
like you know ourselves, because to be really honestly like
la is amazing, but it does a log sometimes and
you're in this consistent grind and there's not much let up.
And to be healthy in America, you've got to like
(19:20):
work for it. You've got to like pay the big
bucks to go to the yogurt studios. And get your
green juices from air one. I just got one from
Creation today. You know, where's junk food which is delicious,
and sugars which is so cheap here anyway, you know
all this, So yeah, I'm sure the vibe over the
next couple of check ins is probably going to be
(19:41):
us clicking into health mode pre pre travel.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
And stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
And I am probably gonna start eating a bit more yogas.
And I just want our tatoos, more my tattoos to
heal before I'm back in a hot room teaching. I'm
a bit nerdy like that. Technically it's been one week
since the tattoos, but they're still how they peel, that
top layer peals, So I'm like, I want to give
it a couple more days before I'm teaching hot yoggs again.
(20:06):
All right, Well, I feel like I'm waffling now. Guys,
so big love do the sheet that you flip and
love and have a rip a day, all right?
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Or aren't we
