Former Professional International Basketball player and International Sports Advisor, Tywanna Smith, PhD, joins Glenn on the field to discuss why elite athletes should consider playing professional sports overseas, the incentives and drawbacks of international athletics, and recruiting tips in order to get drafted to play international sports. Dr. Smith explains how athletes can make the most of their overseas playing experience, the transition process from American sports to International sports, and how athletes can deal with cultural differences and the aspects of culture shock. Dr. Smith also shares what it takes to be a competitive international athlete, the biggest differences between American and International professional leagues, and why she co-founded the first Athletes Abroad Summit – a business summit for American athletes who play sports outside the United States.
