Lindsey Helman (00:06):
Hello and
welcome to Financial
Perspectives, where we interviewand discuss trends with leaders
from across the investment andfinance industry.
On today's special episode, I'mhere to speak with Tanya.
Tanya Suba-Tang (00:17):
Hold on,
Lindsey.
Aren't I usually hosting anddid you say Financial
Perspectives?
Let's back up here for a second, for our listeners.
Lindsey Helman (00:24):
You are so right
, Tanya.
Let me introduce myself herefor a minute.
I'm Lindsey Helman, the show'sproducer and Managing Director
of Marketing and Brand Strategywith CFA Society San Francisco.
We have some exciting newdevelopments coming up in season
five to share with ourlisteners today, so I figured I
would come out from behind thescreen to join the conversation.
(00:44):
We've been working on thispodcast together for the past
four seasons and I don't thinkwe've ever truly introduced
ourselves to our listeners.
Tanya Suba-Tang (00:53):
You're right,
we haven't.
As for me, you might havealready heard from me as the
podcast host and interviewer, but allow me to formally
introduce myself.
Hi everyone.
I'm Tanya Suba-Tang, Directorof Membership and Programming
for CFA Society San Francisco, and your podcast host.
I get the pleasure ofannouncing our new name:
Financial Perspectives.
So, after four successfulseasons, our listeners are
(01:14):
probably wondering why are wechanging our name?
Lindsey, do you want to put onyour marketing and producer hat
and discuss why we're rebranding?
Lindsey Helman (01:22):
Oh, thank you,
Tanya, I'd love to.
It's probably easier if I startat the beginning.
In 2021, Tanya and I had thistiny sliver of an idea to start
a podcast.
In the first two weeks ofhaving this idea, we booked our
first guest and launched theshow - had a full site up and
running for it.
Initially, our idea was to keepit more human interest focused
(01:44):
and, as we found our footing ingeneral flow of the show, we
decided to leverage the guest'sknowledge base and overall
experience.
We could be more impactful andhave deeper episodes if we
focused more on industry sectorsand trends.
We'd kept the original titleand description pretty broad
when we created it, while wedetermined exactly what we'd be
(02:06):
talking about in the podcast, which direction it was taking
and where we were going with it.
CFA Society San Francisco hasso much great programming and
content streams.
A growing YouTube channel,industry content libraries, a
strong LinkedIn presence, andnumerous events, both in-person
and virtual that we reallywanted to give this show its own
(02:27):
identity and highlight exactlywhat it's all about.
Tanya Suba-Tang (02:31):
But don't worry
, this doesn't mean we're
changing.
We're only getting better fromhere.
So, while the podcast alwayscontinues to evolve based on our
listener interest, we're notcurrently changing the episode
format or the quality ofspeakers.
Lindsey Helman (02:44):
Since we never
really discussed on the show
exactly the things we talkedabout.
What will our listeners expect?
What is your elevator pitch,Tanya, for the Financial
Perspectives podcast?
Tanya Suba-Tang (02:56):
Sure!
Absolutely.
So, I think the new title helpshighlight exactly what you'll
hear from us.
It's insights from finance andinvestment professionals on
current trends, careeradvancements and their outlook
going forward.
Each episode highlights theguest area of expertise and
features their uniqueperspectives through a finance
lens.
Now some episodes are directedtowards a specific industry area
(03:17):
, like fintech or treasury, while others are advice-oriented
, discussing career tips andbusiness best practices.
Overall, you'll come awayhaving learned new insights into
the investment and financeindustry.
Lindsey Helman (03:30):
Basically, you
sit down and have a brief
conversation with investmentprofessionals who are experts in
a specified topic, area andfield.
Tanya Suba-Tang (03:38):
Exactly.
Lindsey Helman (03:39):
So who's the
show for?
Can you identify a little bitlike?
Who are our listeners?
?
Tanya Suba-Tang (03:44):
Great question.
I love it.
With a global listener base, wereally try to keep this as open
and accessible as possible.
We never get too deep or tootechnical, but there are always
good takeaways, regardless ofyour knowledge level.
Lindsey Helman (03:56):
Essentially,
anyone who has an interest in
finance, whether you are astudent, a C-suite executive at
an investment firm, or just lovelearning new things.
While our focus is from afinancial point of view or
perspective, as the show's titlewould imply, we've discussed
topics ranging from traditionalfinance to technology, volunteer
(04:17):
work and everything in between.
Now that we've identified whatthe Financial Perspectives
podcast is and what we focus on,tanya, do you want to share
with us what's in store forseason five?
Tanya Suba-Tang (04:28):
I would love to
so.
We've been working on this formonths now and we're beyond
thrilled to announce a fewimprovements to the show.
Starting today, you can nowtext the show and send us fan

be saved or shared with us.

from for us to be able to giveyou a proper shout out.
Tanya Suba-Tang (05:07):
We're also
discussing bringing back some of
our earlier speakers thisseason.
We'll be introducing a newsegment too.
It's called (05:13):
Chats.
In September, starting thesecond Tuesday of the month, we
will be publishing popularfireside chats to the Financial
Perspectives podcast.
You'll see these episodeslisted as "chats in the title.
They will have longer runtimesand feature a moderated
discussion between industryprofessionals.
Lindsey Helman (05:31):
You can still
expect a Financial Perspectives
episode on the last Tuesday ofthe month in the same format as
our typical episodes.
These aren't going away, sothey're just featured chats in a
bonus episode format.
All of these chats will bepulled from past webinars that
we've hosted, so the audio maysound a little different than
you're used to and the format'sa little different.
(05:52):
They are a little longer, butin the same high quality that
you'd come to expect from CFASociety San Francisco content.
Tanya Suba-Tang (05:58):
So keep an eye
out for the first episode of the
Chats segment.
We'd love to hear what youthink.
Lindsey Helman (06:02):
All right, Tanya
.
So I know we'd said that we'dkeep this short, since this is a
bonus episode, but we do haveone last thing to discuss, and
I'm sure our listeners wouldlove to know how to connect with
us.
Tanya Suba-Tang (06:14):
