Glorious Ascent: Jesus’ Exaltation as Lord
“Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him. Even so. Amen.” Revelation 1:7
We celebrate certain aspects of the person and work of Jesus, but sometimes overlook important topics. As Christians, we love to focus on the incarnation, Jesus’ life and ministry, His teachings and miracles, the cross, the resurrection, the Great Commission, and Pentecost. Between the Great Commission and Pentecost lies an important event we too often neglect—Jesus’ ascension. Christ physically ascended into heaven on a cloud, where He is seated at the right hand of God, reigning and ruling over all things, and interceding and mediating on our behalf. As believers, we have the promise that Jesus will one day return, that we will be resurrected, and that we will reign with Him into eternity.
