Higher education is made up of various people with numerous experiences. Many people’s experiences are not visible and often silenced. However, these experiences are impactful and with the right support can provide students opportunities to thrive and be heard. Join on this episode to learn more about students with foster and unaccompanied homeless experiences.

Benito is a PATH Scholar and transfer student from Butte College. He is a Humanities major and has been on the dean’s list, with a 4.0 GPA last semester. As a former foster youth, Benito experienced group home placements and the criminal justice system and is passionate about helping others successfully navigate similar challenges. He started the program Ascending Scholars at Butte College and is working on starting Project Rebound at Chico State, both with the goal of supporting students transition successfully from incarceration to reaching their higher education goals.
