Speaker 1 (00:00):
What is going on, friend?
Welcome to the next episode ofthe Fit and Healthy Sioux Falls
podcast.
I am your host, cj Workamp, andwe are talking about the magic
pill today, or the lack thereof.

(00:39):
Let's get welcome to the nextepisode of Fit and Healthy Show.
You guys, we are talking aboutthe magic pill, as I kind of
said in the opening, or maybewe're talking about the lack
thereof.
A magic pill, because I feelthat it is something that we're
all looking for.
We're all looking for the easyway to achieve X, y or Z,

(01:05):
whatever it is that we want toachieve, we want to achieve it
the easiest way possible, andit's not your fault and it's not
my fault.
I feel that we live in a worldwhere everything is getting
easier, everything is gettingmore instant and our desire, our

(01:30):
tolerance, our patience forputting in the work and doing
what's necessary and waiting thetime that's needed to be waited
in order to achieve success, our tolerance for it is just
getting lower every single day, every single year, like, if you
look around, everything is likeinstant.

(01:52):
Now you can literally askwhatever smart device, you have
any question under the sun andyou get the answer Back in the
day you used to have to work forit and figure it out, maybe
even like look it up online.
But now you don used to have towork for it and figure it out,
maybe even like look it uponline, but now you don't even
have to do that.
You can just talk to a deviceyour phone, your watch, your

(02:13):
speakers, whatever it is youjust talk to that thing and it
gives you an answer.
And even when it comes to likegrocery shopping, you used to
have to go to the grocery storeand figure out what it is you
wanted to eat and walk aroundthe grocery store and shop for
your own food and a lot of usstill do that.

(02:34):
But my point is is that now youcan just hop on whatever app it
is.
It used to just be Instacart, but now it's literally like
every major grocery store hastheir own online shopping app
DoorDash.
You can shop on more than justrestaurants or fast food places.
Now Everything is just becominginstant.

(02:56):
You don't even have to go tothe store and get the food that
you want to eat.
You just go to the app and putit in and the next thing you
know it shows up at yourdoorstep.
I'm sure there's even a companyor part of that, that will put
it in your fridge and stock itfor you in your cupboards.
Because that's the way in whichwe live, we just want it all

(03:17):
and we want it now.
And because everything is goingthat way, I feel that it is
making the pursuit of hard worka dying skill.
And so, as we're talking about amagic pill, we want to lose
weight, we want to get fit, wewant to get healthy, we want to

(03:38):
be able to achieve a set ofresults.
There is nothing and Ishouldn't say nothing and talk
in absolute, because who knowswhat's going to be coming in the
future but, as of right now, there is nothing that you can
click the easy button andachieve the results that you're

(04:02):
after.
I guess there's surgery andstuff, of course, that you can
do and get the results thatyou're looking for, but as it
pertains to achieving resultsthrough health and fitness,
there is not a magic pill.
There isn't something thatyou're going to take, and people
have tried different, I don'tknow magic pill supplements or

(04:26):
this or that.
Yes, they get different resultsor better results.
Some people do and some peopledon't.
The truth of it is the onesthat do get the better results
taking a certain supplement, whatever that supplement might
be, they're still putting in thework, as it pertains to their

(04:47):
nutrition and to their fitness,to get that result.
And so when I talk about therebeing no magic pill, there is a
magic code or a magic cheat code, I guess, and that cheat code
is taking consistent action overa long period of time.

(05:07):
That's the cheat code, that'sthe magic pill Taking consistent
action and doing that over anelongated period of time.
You can't take consistentaction for one day and expect to
get the results that you'reafter.
You can't take consistentaction for one month and expect

(05:32):
to get the results that you'reafter.
Whatever it is that you'relooking to achieve as it
pertains to your health and yourfitness, whether that's losing
weight, building musclementality, in the beginning and
don't get me wrong I definitelythink you need to be all-in,

(05:52):
especially as it pertains todifferent areas of your life

(06:18):
when you're looking to achieveresults.
But I do feel that there's alsoa level of commitment that you
have to understand as weighed toor compared against what is
realistic in your life.
We all have differentobligations and duties and we're

(06:39):
all at different stages of ourlife, and so what might work
amazing for someone else may notwork for you, and you may have
to take it at different steps, and so maybe someone beside you,
next to you, in your sphere ofinfluence, may be getting
results at a faster pace thanyou are, but that's why we're

(07:05):
not comparing ourselves to them.
We are comparing ourselves tous, and if you are at all, I
actually put this post up on mysocials over.
Well now, by the time thisreleases, it's been about four
weeks ago now, but I put thispost up and it was just a
reminder that if you're at allfeeling like giving up, if

(07:29):
you're at all feeling likethrowing in the towel and
quitting, the reason is that youare comparing where you're at
right now to this ideal, thisthought, this future self that
you're after.
That's not even real, thatperson that you're trying to
become, they're not real yet.

(07:51):
They're not actually here yet,but we're comparing ourselves to
our thought of where we thoughtwe should be by now.
Instead, you should be comparingyourself to where you started,
to what you were able to do whenyou started, and the thing of
it is is, if you're making anyprogress at all, you're on the

(08:13):
path to success.
So if you're on a health andfitness journey and you're maybe
not where you want to be yet,are you further than where you
started?
And if you're not further thanwhere you started, well then you
definitely shouldn't give up,because what that means is that
life has happened, friend, andit's okay.

(08:34):
Sometimes life happens, andwhat I mean by that is life
throws you a whole curveball andnext thing you know what you
thought was going to be yourtrajectory of success.
You had to pivot and, for ashort period of time, what you
wanted to achieve?
You had to go into literallyjust survival mode and get
through the crap that life wasthrowing at you.

(08:58):
And if that's maybe whereyou're finding yourself right
now, guess what?
It's okay.
But I can guarantee you this Ifyou stop now, you will not be
ever able to get to where it isyou want to go.
But if you are making progressand you are seeing little bits
of improvement, but you're notwhere you wanted to be or not

(09:19):
where you thought you should beby now, again you're comparing
yourself to the future, and wedon't need to compare ourselves
to the future.
They call that the gap.
There's an amazing book that Iread and I would encourage you.
If you're a reader of any sort,I would encourage you to read

(09:39):
this book.
It's called the Gap in the Gain, and this book is awesome and I
would tell you exactly who theauthor is, but I'm losing it
right now.
But it's the Gap in the Gain, and the amazing thing of it is
it talks about how, if you'renot feeling like you're
achieving success, what'shappening is that you're living

(10:02):
in the gap, meaning that whereyou are right now to where you
want to go in the future, there's a gap there Because,
again, remember that future self, that future person, has not
come to reality yet.
And so, yes, of course you'regoing to be feeling a little
down because you're living inthat gap.

(10:22):
But if you can take where you'reat right now and you can if
you're going to compare, comparethat to where it was when you
started and look about all thedifferent obstacles, look at all
the different things thatyou've had to overcome and all
the different ways in whichyou've had to maneuver and
adjust your life to get to whereyou're at right here, right now

(10:47):
, you can then start living inthe game.
And I tell you what, no matterwhat situation that you might be
in, and maybe you're in apretty tough situation, because,
let me tell you this, I knowthat many of us are going
through tough situations, andmaybe we're not going through a
tough situation right now, butwe just went through one.

(11:07):
Or maybe we're not goingthrough one right now, we didn't
just go through one.
Well then, there's probably onecoming, because that's just how
life works.
It tends to throw us toughsituations.
And when we can look at where weare at right now and compare it
to all the things that we'vebeen through, all the ways in
which we've been able toovercome the struggles, that's

(11:30):
living in the game.
And it's living in thisrealization that you do have
what it takes to achieve success.
And so, as we talk about amagic pill, my friend, that's it
.
It's living in the gain.
It's number one not comparingyourself to anybody other than

(11:53):
yourself.
And even then, if you're goingto compare yourself to yourself,
make sure that you're comparingyourself to where you've been
and what you've overcome, andnot comparing yourself to where
you want to go and what hasn'thappened yet, because, friend,
you don't know what's to come.
We can have the best ofintentions, the best of plans,

(12:16):
the best of playbook andblueprints.
But in an instant, life canthrow us a curveball and next
thing, you know, what we planned, what we thought would happen,
isn't happening, and that's whyyou find yourself living in this
depressed, anxious state, because you feel like you're not
where you should be yet.

(12:36):
But why should you be anywhereother than where you're at right
now?
And a question that you have toask yourself kind of brutal,
honest truth question is ifyou're not where you thought you
should be right now, friend, are you really taking the action

(12:57):
and doing the things necessaryin order to be where it is you
thought you should be right now?
And the truth is this, and Ihate to say it, but the truth is
this If you're not where youthought you should be by now or
right now, you're probablymaking some choices.
You're probably taking someinconsistent action with what it

(13:20):
is that you're trying toachieve.
They have to align.
You have to make sure that thechoices that you're making and
the actions that you're takingare pushing you towards where
you wanna go, and if you are, then you will make progress.
But, like I said, life throws usthese curve balls and sometimes

(13:42):
all we can do is just get by,and that Sometimes is okay.
I'm here to tell you it is.
You have to just get bysometimes, because sometimes it
takes every last ounce of ourenergy just to get through the
day.
And if that's where you're atright now, I want you to smile
knowing that you're doing it,knowing that you are getting

(14:04):
through every single day, and Idon't want you to lose hope,
because where you want to go andthe goals that you want to
achieve, they are going to beachieved if you just keep on
pushing on.
So, again, if you're at allfeel like giving up, if you're
at all thinking about quitting,I want this to be your

(14:25):
encouragement to keep pushing on, because there's no magic pill.
But if you stop now, I canguarantee you you're not going
to reach where it is that youwant to go.
Do not stop.
Keep putting in the effort, keep taking the action so that
you can achieve the success thatyou desire.
And remember, there's no magicpill, but the magic pill is this

(14:47):
it's taking consistent actionin the correct direction,
because you can also takeconsistent action that doesn't
actually move you towards yourgoals.
So it's taking consistentaction in the direction of the
goals that you have.
But then the second part of theequation is over an extended
period of time and the kind ofsucky thing about that extended

(15:11):
period of time.
That extended period of time isdifferent for everybody,
because I don't know exactly howlong it's going to take you to
reach your goals.
I don't know exactly how longit's going to take me to reach
my goals.
But I know this if we do notgive up and we just keep going,
we'll eventually get there.
I had somebody asked me theother day, cj, give up and we

(15:32):
just keep going, we'lleventually get there.
I had somebody ask me the otherday, cj, how we just hit nine
years at Fit Body in May.
And they asked me, cj, how, how'd you get to where you're at
today?
And the awesome part about thatas I was talking it, we've got
two locations in Sioux Falls andboth of them are running,
operating, and the team isactually right now, as I'm

(15:55):
recording this, it is, let's see, nine o'clock on a Monday.
So we've got a session runningat West, we've got a session
just getting done at Central andthen we've got Fit Body Forever
getting ready to start and allof my team members are making it
happen and I'm here able toshoot this podcast and deliver

(16:18):
it to you so that you can getmore value from what it is that
we do at Fit Body here in SiouxFalls.
And they said how did you get tothat point?
Because I tell you what, in thebeginning it was just me.
I didn't have any staff.
I was young, naive.
I didn't have any staff.
I was young, naive, I didn'thave a clue.
People even ask me too.
They're like how did you getinto Fit Body and how did you
pick that as a franchise?

(16:38):
And the honest truth is, Ididn't even know what a
franchise was.
I just thought and this is it.
I don't know if I ever told youthis and I think probably one
of the episodes I have, but Ihad a passion for health and
fitness and I had no idea reallyhow to run a business and it
just so happened that I landedon this webpage and that header
of this webpage was do you havea passion for fitness but don't

(17:02):
know how to run a business?
And I'm like man, if anythingis speaking to me, that was
speaking to me.
So Fit Body Marketing back in2014,.
Way to go, because youdefinitely got me to click right
there because I had a passionfor fitness and I had no clue
how to run a business.
And that was my extent in myresearch of really researching

(17:23):
what Fit Body was or what afranchise was, because I didn't
know.
But they asked how did you thenend up here?
If you started where youstarted, with just you, one only
person, running the gym, running the sessions, doing the
sales, doing the nutritionmeetings, doing all the
different things to keep the gymgoing, how did you end up here?
And I said you know, I justtook consistent action and I did

(17:48):
it for a long time.
I've been doing it now for nineyears and, oh my goodness,
friend, not all nine years havebeen just, you know, roses and
flowers and just amazing.
There's been a lot of hardtimes, a lot of hard times, but
I just knew that if I kepttaking consistent action that
eventually I would get there.

(18:09):
And I remember getting to acertain point in my journey with
owning FitBody where I didn'tknow what to do.
I didn't know.
I seen the amount of bills thatI had to pay and I seen the
amount of income that I hadcoming in.
And let me tell you this thebills I had to pay.
Compared to the income comingin, the bills were much higher
and I didn't know how I wasgoing to pay those bills.
But that was kind of out of mycontrol.

(18:30):
What was in my control was youknow what.
I don't exactly know how I'mgoing to get there, but I know
what's in my control and whatcan I do.
That would be consistent actiontowards getting me to where I
want to go.
I can just help one more client.
I can just help one more client.
And so I started looking throughthe clients that we had and I'm

(18:51):
like, okay, how can I help thisclient a little better?
How could I show up for thisclient just a little more than
maybe they're even expecting?
And I just started showing upevery single day and I literally
did it client by client and Iwas just like, how can I make
this person feel amazing today?
How can I help, encourage thisperson today?

(19:14):
I started to really get to knowour clients, figure out what it
is that made them tick.
What struggles are they goingthrough in life?
Because, like I said earlier inthis episode, we're all going
through a struggle that maybe noone knows about and not that I
have to know about all of ourclients' struggles, but at least
if I made myself available toknow, I could then know how to

(19:36):
show up for that person and bethere for them.
And so I realized that you knowwhat I can do.
I can show up today and I cando the best I can do for the
person that's in front of me.
I don't know if that's going toget me a new person through the
door.
I don't know if that's going tohelp me get another sale today
or add another client to our gym, but what I do know is that
it's going to help this clientthat is a paying member, paying

(19:59):
client of our gym.
It's going to help them alittle more today, and I just
continue taking that action, consistent action over a long
period of time.
So I want to ask you what goalsare you trying to achieve and
what is something that is inyour control that you can do
consistently for a long periodof time?

(20:22):
Because I was talking tosomeone else about this too, and
there's a lot of ways to reachyour goals.
A lot of ways, whatever thatgoal might be.
As it pertains to health andfitness, there's a lot of
different nutrition ways inwhich you can eat or workouts
and ways in which you can moveyour body in order to achieve
the goal that you're after.
But you have to find a way toeat and a way to move your body

(20:46):
that you can see yourself doingconsistently, step one, for a
long period of time.
And if you haven't found thosetwo things yet, that's why
you're not finding success, because you have to find
something that you can doconsistent, that you actually
will do for a long period oftime.

(21:06):
Because if you let's just takeketo, for example, a way in
which you eat keto nutritionwhere it's high fat, very low
carbs, good amount of protein Ifthat's not something that you
can do consistently, step one, step two, for a long period of
time, it's not going to work foryou for a lifestyle.

(21:27):
It might get you a certainresult, it might get you to a
certain point, but it's notgoing to be something that you
can do consistently for a longperiod of time.
And that is the two step magicpill.
It's what can you doconsistently that's going to
move you towards your goal.
It's not going to move you toyour goal, it's going to move
you towards your goal.
That's what you can doconsistently, and then step two,

(21:48):
for a long period of time, andif you can do that, you will
reach success.
So, friend, my encouragement toyou today, watching, listening
to this episode, is takeconsistent action that moves you
towards your goal.
Forget the rest and just dothat thing for a long period of

(22:09):
time and you will reach thegoals, the desires and the
dreams that you're after.
Hey, I appreciate you forspending time with me.
I know that your time isvaluable and you have a lot of
different things that you couldbe doing, but I hope that you
were able to find one or twothings throughout this episode
that just kind of resonated withyou, that are going to help you
have.

(22:31):
And number two, that's going tohelp you make progress towards
the goals that you're after.
Remember, work to live in thegain, remembering how far you've
come, be proud of that, andwork to take consistent action
over a long period of time and,my friend, you will reach
success.
