This episode is for all the f%cking co-parents out there. This week, Gabrielle sits down with Dr. Courtney Evans, a divorce and co-parenting coach, as they discuss the complexities of co-parenting, particularly in toxic situations. Dr. Evans has seen both sides of the equation as she’s been through her own divorce (which stayed amicable) as well as her current husband’s divorce and subsequent custody battle (which was extremely toxic and wildly expensive). Seeing an opportunity to help others, Dr. Evans drew on her experience from the healthcare system to develop her coaching business, where she now advises clients through their own divorces, separations, and co-parenting situations. In toxic environments, Dr. Evans advocates for a mindset shift to deal with the emotional toll and reduce conflict, as well as focusing on personal healing to reach a more positive state of wellbeing. No one ever said co-parenting was easy, but Dr. Evans' approach may just be the playbook you need!
Dr. Courtney Evans Bio:
Dr. Courtney is wife-mom-stepmom-DNP-soon to be published author who also happens to be an experienced divorce coach and co-parenting mentor. Her two decade career in the healthcare field has lent to her deep understanding of human behavior, mental health, and the importance of self-care during challenging life transitions. With her expertise in healthcare, coupled with her coaching education and personal experience dealing with a high conflict co-parenting dynamic, Courtney is uniquely equipped to provide support in surviving the emotional impact of divorce. Courtney shares how she survived her own divorce and is navigating the subsequent co-parenting journey. She is also a co-survivor of a lengthy, expensive, custody battle riddled with false allegation and alienation tactics. She survived it all… ungracefully… but is rising from the ashes of what was meant to destroy her and is writing one hell of a comeback story.
