(00:04):
Look, look, we always have walk out music.
We are here with Shelley Till, D1 athlete, sports announcer,
leader and performance coach. Mama dear to Claire Kittle,
Queen of the Niners, mother-in-law to future Hall of

(00:27):
Famer, the baddest tight end in the league, George Kittle,
Taylor Swift's new friend and myfriend Shelley Till.
Everybody, what's up? Thank you for being here.
Thanks for having me. We have so much to talk about.
I'm so excited to have you. Full disclaimer, Shelly has been

(00:50):
a huge supporter of football, sexy from the jump.
You were one of the first ones to wear just our sweatshirt and
just be so kind and appreciative.
You really are a champion for women.
And so I just want to say thank you.
You really are the real deal. Oh.
Well, thank you, appreciate. That absolutely.
Before we talk about all these amazing things, host, Tailgate,

(01:11):
the kiddo things, all those things that you're involved with
and that you are planning, I want everybody to know a little
bit about you because you are a badass in your own right.
OK, OK, let's you say so. You know, I know.
So let's talk about your journeyin sports because I want people
to know like where the roots come from.

(01:33):
Tell me you were an athlete. Do you want an athlete?
Tell me all the things. Yeah, those good old Iowa roots,
you know, we we grow things tallin Iowa corn and people.
So yeah, I played, I was A4 sport athlete in high school and
then and ended up playing Division One basketball.
I started at Drake University, transferred to the University of

(01:56):
Nebraska and then transferred one more time to the University
of Northern Iowa. But yeah, so played, that was my
my sport of choice was basketball.
And then after I got out of that, I got into coaching right
away, actually coached college basketball and high school
basketball. And it probably a lot, if you

(02:18):
combine them, it's like 8 or 9 years of coaching.
Got into broadcasting in 2001 and did that up until the
pandemic hit in 2020. And that's crazy, you know,
killed sports. So yeah, that was the end of
that career. Right, right, right, right.
Oh. Yeah.
So I've been, I've been involvedwith athletics and then mixed in

(02:39):
there did my leadership and performance coaching sprinkled
in throughout that time as well. And so it's always been part of
my life. I've been an athlete since I
was, you know, a young girl and started playing organized sports
in 6th grade. And see.
OK, just so you know, I mean, I got thrown in there.

(03:01):
I was kind of a bad ass, like basketball guard.
I kind of broke 4 records in high school.
I don't know if they're still existing, but I think basketball
was the funnest sport to play. Yeah.
Even though, did you ever play flag football back in the day or
No, no, it wasn't really a thingback then.
Yeah, I got to play. I.
Mean I played on the playground, you know?

(03:22):
Yeah. The boys and the boys stuff.
But that was it. So, well-being a bad ass
athlete, you raised some bad assathletes by the way.
And I would say this like standing next to Shelley Claire.
Now, Riley, I've never felt so short in my life.
But Oh my God, you grow them tall in Iowa.

(03:44):
You raised some amazing kids. And let's talk about that.
And you know, you had a little help from Marty.
Let's give Marty a shout out. Marty.
How tall is the Marty? I I want to say he's 63.
He's 634, OK? I mean, I would not have my
family team play your family team in basketball.
Let's let's just be straight. We could combine them.

(04:05):
Yeah, we'd be the point guard, yes.
Yeah, we that that angle. Should play basketball just as a
fun pickup game. Girl.
Yeah, you're killing me. To end up in the ER.
Yeah. No, that's true.
That's true, but no, I want to talk about your kids because
Claire is obviously like I always call him the queen of the
Niners, like they're that's a whole nother subject, but like

(04:26):
them on the sidelines is a wholething of its own.
But Riley, I got to spend time with Riley yesterday.
Thank you, by the way, I got in the suite.
Just throwing it out there. Thank you, Shelly, for the we're
going to talk about the Niner Ram game.
So you definitely want to like hear this podcast all the way
through. But Claire, I don't care like

(04:47):
who she is or who she's married to her as her.
She's just a sweet, sweet person.
Riley, like you raised some great kids.
Like, how did you do that? Do we need to get parenting?
No, you really did a great job. Like they're so grounded and
very nice. Yeah, thank you.
I appreciate that. That's actually the biggest
compliment as a mom, I think that anybody could could get.

(05:08):
So, and I heard that at the tailgate tour yesterday
repeatedly, if people came up tosay something to me that I've
never met before, it was always how wonderful Claire is and how
wonderful Riley is. And just so that, you know, I
appreciate that. And they're just, I don't know.
Was there a lot of grounding involved?

(05:29):
Like, how did you like? You know what?
I mean, like, honestly, it's, you know, again, this might
sound cliche, but we're from Iowa.
It's, you know, it's Midwest values.
It's hard working where you, youknow, I firmly believe you
become who you spend the most time with throughout your entire
life. And you know, Marty's family is

(05:52):
his mom and dad were farmers. And so, you know, we used to
take the kids out to the farm all the time and they would see
what hard work looks like. And my dad, you know, was a
factory worker and my mom did hair when I was growing up.
And then she went to school, back to school, I think when she
was 50 and got her degree to become a teacher.

(06:14):
So, you know, there's that. And then I, you know, firmly
believe there's it's family, it's faith, you know, that's a
very important to our family. And they were raised that way.
And then sports, right? You know, they were both of my
kids were multi sport athletes and they started playing sports
from A at a very young age. And I think that's, you know,

(06:36):
our entire family is athletic and grew up growing up in
athletics. It just teaches you the skills
that you need to be a decent human.
Being in the world. In the world, yeah.
And I think that they were just around that all the time.
You know, I was coaching collegebasketball when Claire was born
and when Riley was born, and sheused to, I remember taking her,

(06:56):
we'd have 6:00 AM practices and I'd have to bring her with me
because the daycare wasn't open. And so she'd be laying on the
bleachers with her little hoppy. We called him.
He's was a stuffed Bunny that she took everywhere.
And so she lay on the bleachers while we were having practice.
And she literally was raised in a gym.
And so that was it. You know, she saw hard working

(07:19):
people all the time, you know, around them and they were it
just I, you know, it creates that culture and that mindset.
And then they decided that's whothey wanted to be.
They wanted to be that college athlete.
And so for me, it was, you know,as a, as a parent, like I never
had to discipline my kids because they disciplined

(07:39):
themselves because they knew they had a bigger goal and a
bigger vision for themselves. And they understood, like I, I
would tell them, you know, I used to be in that recruiter's
chair, right? So I know what to look for to
mark you off the list, right? And it's bad grades, and it's
bad behavior and an attitude, you know?
Did you guys hear that those three things, you're ex 86th?

(08:02):
Well, it makes sense. Yeah.
And they, so they policed themselves, right, You know,
because they just had a higher standard for for themselves.
But it was because of, again, what they grew up in and what
they witnessed pretty much on a daily basis, right?
And Claire became a basketball player.
Did she play volleyball as well or?
Yeah. Claire was a she was she high

(08:25):
jumped and ran track. Oh, OK.
And like broke the state record her freshman year high jumping
had never done it before. Oh my.
God, are you serious? Crazy.
She's a crazy athlete. Like, just could jump out of the
gym. OK And then volleyball, Yeah.
And basketball were her sports. Yes.
And then Riley did baseball whenhe was younger, and he did a

(08:47):
little football in middle school.
But then when he got to high school, you know, he really
wanted to play basketball. And so he just dedicated himself
to that. Yeah.
Year round. Well, you can tell that I think
people that play sports, they just they're well-rounded human
beings. I think you learn how to deal
with other people because you have to deal with other

(09:08):
teammates losing, how to take, how to be gracious in a win and
a loss. I I'm just such a huge advocate
for sports in general. I think it's I'm not one give
everybody a trophy girl. Like, that's not me.
Like, I don't like, what is thatabout?
Like, no, but let's talk about, you know, so Claire was at Iowa.

(09:28):
Yeah, I've got to ask because you know our people, we got a
lot of Niner fans on here. By the way, I'm wearing Kristen
Juice, 685 offseason. Go get it.
This shit is fire. Like it is the quality.
It's I've never, I told her myself yesterday, this is the
best quality. I'm not just saying that because
you're here. It is the best quality of

(09:50):
anything sports related, period.Like and it'll those pieces
last. Forever.
Yeah, yeah, it. Go get yourself one.
So when was the first time you heard this name?
George, do you remember? Actually, I do.
We were on a so Claire was, I was, this is Claire was a

(10:10):
freshman at Iowa playing on the women's basketball team.
I was the, at the time, the color commentator for the
University of Iowa women's basketball team.
It had been since she was probably in fourth or fifth
grade. And so I would go to all of
their games. So we were on a bus.
I can't remember the away game, but we were on the bus and I
remember one of the assistant coaches said something to Claire

(10:35):
about, hey, what's going on withthis Kittle guy I hear about?
And I was like, wait, what you're like.
Wait, what? Why am I?
Just hearing this and she got kind of a red faced and she's
like, we're just friends. He's just my friend.
And The funny thing was, one of the assistant coaches for Iowa
was my best friend. Like, I met her at a basketball
camp in like, my sophomore year of high school, and we became

(10:58):
friends ever since. So she's the one that said it.
Well, her dad, No, her uncle andGeorge's dad, Bruce were team
mates in college and then like friends and in each other's
weddings. And it was just like a small
world kind of thing. And so they started telling me
I'm like, tell me more about this George Kittle guy and

(11:18):
Claire's like, we're just friends, mom.
It's just he's I'm not going to date him.
He's like my brother. She used to say, oh.
Really. It was really.
Funny. But then there were all these
parallels because, you know, theconnection to her dad.
And then Jan Bruce's or George'smom also played basketball at
Drake University, which is whereI played.
I didn't know that. Yeah.
But ten years apart because she's.

(11:38):
Tall too, by the way. We're all tall.
Yes, the short. The shortest one is Emma Georges
sister and she's 511. Okay.
Yeah, I love taking picture. Was there on like, can I?
Where's the box? Like where's the egg cart?
So that's the first time I heardit.
OK, so the the whole story that George tells about Claire
putting him in the friend zone for six months was actually is

(12:00):
it? Actually, yeah, that was true
and. For all the people, naysayers
out there that say she only dated him because he was going
to go to the NFL, look George Kittle up when he was a freshman
in college and you tell me you think that boy was going to the
NFL? Ain't no way.
Like not even on the radar. Oh my God, that you would think.
Now, mentally, he probably thought he was.
There was a. Lot of physical growth that was

(12:22):
in her. Body Shelly just showed me a
picture and I know I see what you're talking about.
Maybe we'll put it in the real, but like he didn't look like the
George today. Let's just, let's just be
honest, right? No, and I mean, he would tell
you that too. Oh.
My God, so how wild you've had afront row seat to watching not
only their relationship blossom, but his career blossom and

(12:45):
Claire now becoming like her ownbrand and doing big things.
Like, how has it been for you asa mom to watch this grow in
front of your eyes and be a partof that?
Oh, wow. Honestly, it's I mean, first of
all, just like I can't believe this is year 9 and of the NFL

(13:06):
and then you add on the, you know, their four to five years
in college. It's just been on, in a word, a
blessing. Truly, it's been more than any
of us could have even imagined, I think.
And it's just a lot of things had to align, I think.
And I think George was in the got drafted in the right spot at

(13:29):
the right time on the right team.
And I think the Niners, obviously I'm going to be biased
but are super lucky and blessed that they got him when they got.
Fuck yeah they are. I'll say it for you.
Hell yeah, you know. One of the ground.
What one? Pick one 146.
I think he was, and not just because of how great of a player

(13:51):
he is, but his leadership abilities and like the human
being that he is and, and that Iknew he was and saw and, you
know, when their relationship was young and blossoming.
And so it's just been it's been great.
And they are, you know, I, I tell them like I love their
love. Yeah, they're, they just are a

(14:15):
great team. You know, they just complement
each other so well. And so that's been a lot of fun
for me and it, you know, warms my mom heart.
Right to see the. Way.
Yeah, yeah. The way he takes care of her and
treats her and adores her and heliterally calls her his queen.
And, you know, there's no betterdefender.
I think if any you ask any of Claire's friends, you describe

(14:39):
Claire in a word or a couple words.
It's loyal. Always comes out first and
fierce, fierce and so she is youknow she's her circle is tight,
but it is she is a great protector of her people I love
that including him I. Love that and Full disclosure,

(14:59):
before I knew you guys, I would see like them, like reels or
whatever of them and I'd always write something and then hashtag
couple goals, couple goals, 'cause you could tell even from
the outsider, like you could just tell they not only love
each other, but they just had, there was something extra like
they had each other's back totally like literally from an

(15:20):
outsider. That's how I felt.
So I hashtag couple goals, whichwe'll talk about one day, you
know, single Monica, I'm just throwing that out there and.
Single, Shelley and single. Shelley, which is wild to me.
We're. Not for long.
We're going to be. We're going to be the NFL.
Not for long. OK, we're going to be that guy.
There you go. We're going to be single.
Your words to God, Oh my God. Well, I want to talk to you

(15:42):
about yesterday because you mentioned Claire's friends and I
love that and we thank you for having me and Football Sexy.
We were at the first host tailgate tour.
It is absolutely amazing bringing people together and
everything you just said, I heard as well, like just people

(16:04):
find Claire very relatable even though she's who she is, like,
like approachable. And I think that's really
important. Tell me a little bit about Host
Tailgate. Where you guys going to be next?
All the things, Yeah. So host Tailgate Tour is
something that has been, I think, milling in Claire's brain

(16:24):
for quite a few years. I remember maybe three years
ago, we were talking about starting some kind of a
community. And, you know, it went from
should we do it online to, you know, just all kinds of
possibilities. And so Hoss is the name comes
from her friends, her college friends.
There's five girls, and they were referred to as the Hosses.

(16:47):
And they're all like, I think the shortest 1 is probably 5-8.
And they were either athletes orI should have been athletes, you
know, And so they were. But they like embrace their in a
world where everyone's telling you to be small and stay small
and whatever they weren't, they're they're loud and proud.
And and so they they just still to this day call themselves the

(17:10):
horses. And so as we were talking about
this, she wanted to really kind of bring them in and incorporate
this and kind of just share thatthat friendship in that
community and the importance of having those kinds of people
that have your back. And so it went from the HOSS as
being like just their name to making it an acronym of House of

(17:31):
House of Sport and sisterhood, which is everything that, you
know, she encompasses. It's love, the love of sports
and the the competition that comes and the all the lessons
that we just talked about beforethat and then the sisterhood and
that part was super important toher.
So she wanted to create this tailgate tour cause the girl can
throw a party. Yes you can.

(17:52):
She is. She could be an event planner.
Yes, she. Can.
She loves to decorate, she lovesto entertain, she loves to throw
parties for the people she loves.
And so she wanted to extend thatbecause so many people are this
is was also for me, for a mom. Like at first I was like, OK,
why does everyone want to like know her and do what she know

(18:13):
what she's doing and just be in their lives?
You know, at first it was kind of freaky for me.
Yeah, a little. Weird.
Yeah, a little stalkerish not. Necessarily like that but it
just is like OK yeah I you know I like the celebrity part of
this still is wild is wild to meyou know like again this
especially from. Iowa.
Midwest, this isn't, but she's using that for good.

(18:35):
And so I think the catalyst thatthe tipping point, if you will,
for the hostile gate tour was one of her friends in the Haas
group, Carrie was diagnosed withcolorectal cancer a year ago at
the age of I think 31 and she was pregnant at the time.
So it was like the worst of the worst case scenario.
And thankfully she was able to deliver her baby girl early Ivy,

(19:01):
and she's healthy and she's going to be a year old in
November. And but Carrie has, you know,
she is still going through it and trying to, you know, battle
through this thing and be a mom.And it's just been a lot for
their for her and for their group.
And I think it's really made Claire stop and realize, like,

(19:21):
you know, life is fleeting and we need to celebrate life while
we can. A. 100% and so that.
Was the the the impetus behind creating the Tailgate tour?
And so we had our first one lastnight right across from Sofi
Stadium. It was amazing.
It went really well, I thought, and brought people in from all

(19:43):
walks of life. And there were like people that
showed up with that solo, right? And, and connected with people.
Yep. Which was really what it was
kind of all about. And we played games and it was a
lot of fun. So she's doing 3 tailgate tours
this year. We did the first one, like I
said last night, November 16th she'll do one in Phoenix for the

(20:03):
Cardinal game and then December 28th we're bringing it home.
To San Jose, Santa Clara area infor the Monday Night Football
game December 28th against the Bears.
Yeah, it's. Going to be lit and.
Then we are in the works for creating something during Super
Bowl week since we are hosting the sub this year and hopefully

(20:24):
playing in it. Hello.
We will be playing in it, yeah. Yeah, 4.
We're four in one now. Four in one?
Yeah, let's go. But you can.
Get more like you can find all the tailgate stuff.
She has a there's an IG you can follow her at Claire Kittle
obviously, but also host tailgate tour on Instagram.
Yes. And we'll make sure the links.
To getting tickets and all the all the things.

(20:46):
And another Full disclosure moment.
So I think it was two seasons ago I went to the Women of the
Niners and she's. Texting me right now, is she?
Let's get her collar. Excuse me.
Right on cue, Claire. Right on cue.
I met Claire at the Woman of theNiners event and Christian,
Christian Kristen was there as well.

(21:07):
And I remember randomly saying something to Claire, like, how
do I get on this bus situation that's.
It like so many people ask aboutno, you're not to ride the bus,
no I. Literally walk, you know me now.
I was like, excuse me, how do I get and I, oh, I buy I did ask
her for a gay single friend as well.
I'm like, how do I get to be a part of this?
Like gay single, possibly in thebus situation.

(21:30):
She started laughing. Oh my gosh.
Shout out to Niner, by the way. Good little shout out there.
But no, because I always saw youguys in the bus having a great
time with the music. And I'm like, these are my
people. These are my people.
And now there I am. There you go.
I like it. Thank you.
So we're definitely going to talk about the host tour.

(21:53):
Keep me posted on the Super Bowl.
But there's also a new podcast out OK called Kiddo Things.
How how did that? How did that start I?
I believe the story is that there were several different
kind of production media companies that.
Reached. Out to them to want to test the

(22:15):
waters would you ever want to dothis and so you know you got to
give the people what they want that's.
Right, More, more couch. Just talking about being George.
And Claire, you know. Yeah, Legos and Pokémon and
Harry Potter and it's funny, Yeah.
So they started they, Yeah, theyjust started that and it's on
YouTube, a YouTube channel called The Kittle Things.

(22:36):
Yeah. I think they've dropped two or
three episodes. Yeah.
I've been watching, it's been fun.
Many more to come. They're they're such a fun
couple to watch too. And by the way, can I just say
that the house, I don't even call it a house.
It's the grounds. They have a football field in
Nashville. Like Kittle Fest was amazing.
Like they really everything you just said is what they're they

(22:59):
do they you guys did that for your closest friends and family
Kiddo fest. It was like so much fun.
Oh my God, music like I. Said she can throw a party.
She could. They're like they're they are
like real life Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come
yeah. And that's what they do I.
Snuck in. I'm just saying I snuck in.

(23:19):
We're going to talk a little. I mean, we could sit here all
day. By the way, before I go further,
I want to also say about clear what?
Going back to like the friendship, her friendship with
Kristen, I happened to see them yesterday and it warmed my heart
because as I'm going to get emotional talking about, I don't
even know why, but when I saw Claire up there talking about

(23:42):
her friends, I happened to look at Kristen and Kristen was in
tears. And that makes me cry right now
because it's just without knowing what I know.
You could tell how how proud andhappy she was for Claire.
Who Claire has been such a supportive a support system to

(24:03):
Chris. Like, I've seen it from my lens.
You've seen it close up in person.
But from someone from the outside, I love seeing women
support women. Yeah.
Look when you have been a woman who has been not not supported
by women, which I have so. My daughter has.
Which we probably all have. You know who the real ones are
and you find them and those are your people.

(24:23):
And I think that because we've all had those not so pleasant
experiences of especially the worst ones are the women that
say that they're for you, but then they're stabbing you behind
the back 100. Percent.
You realize the importance of like how much stronger we are
when we actually truly authentically support one

(24:43):
another. And I mean that that has been a
message that I have preached forever.
And and because, you know, like I said, of the life experiences
that she's had, she is that's why she's so loyal.
That's why loyalty is probably the first word that comes out as
a descriptor for Claire, becausewhen she finds her people and

(25:06):
her, you know, the real ones that want to be supportive and
empowering, you hang on to them,Right.
You know, and that's who Claire and Kristen are together.
And they've, you know, they cameinto this team together.
Yeah. Kyle and George are the Ogs
right now of the of the 49er crew.
And they bonded instantly. And I think also I'll get

(25:27):
emotional. I'll talk about this.
Kristen. Shoot.
Sorry. Don't be sick.
Lost her mom, you know, under breast cancer and so that is a a
really important 'cause to her. And so for her, our family and
their family share a suite together and you know, we're
together at all the games, whichis why sidebar, when they tried

(25:51):
to get rid of Kyle last year, wewere just so freaking
devastated. I was.
Going to bring that up. But thank God we brought it
back. Yeah, band is back together, but
it's she's like a a daughter to me, you know, and, and her and
she has been so good to Claire and, and they've been so, like I
said, supportive of one another and just to, you know, watch
them blossom and find their purpose and support their men,

(26:15):
but have their own thing and do it the right way, you know, and
they're like I see them, for instance, you know, Ricky
Pearsall's girlfriend, Tori bringing her in and kind of, you
know, that was Claire and Kristen when they were rookies
and but there weren't a lot of vets on the team.
I mean, we have 13 rookies that year, I believe.

(26:36):
It was. Or 13 new new guys.
And so it they were just trying to figure out this NFL life and
what do we do? And now I'm gonna be a.
Wife and how do I? Get tickets to this game and all
the things right. So they had to figure it out
alone. Yeah, so.
And I've always told this to Claire, it's like, like, you
know, she played varsity sports from the get go.

(26:56):
So from a freshman on and, and has experienced veterans or
seniors who helped her and others who wanted to just like
knock her down, right. So as she went through those
kind of ranks, it was always, I always said to her, you always
have to turn around and help thegirl behind you, right.
And so she's learned that and done a really good job of that.
And I see them both doing that, you know, with the, with the new

(27:19):
girls that come into the team. Yeah.
I love that and it was so nice for me to see up close in person
yesterday because I think, you know, a lot of people see them
for being the Queens of the Niners.
And I get that. But behind it, there's literally
a true, true blossomed friendship and sisters.

(27:42):
Yeah. And when we thought she was
going to not be on the Niners, Iwas devastated.
I'm like, I can't imagine the girls not being together.
Like and it was like the first thought was actually first
losing juice, right? But like, wait, now we're not
going to have the Queens together on the sidelines that
they get. That can't happen.
In fact, I I barely text Claire, but I texted her when we got him

(28:05):
back. I'm like fuck.
Yeah. But yeah, I mean, so I love
watching that. And again, just shout out to
Kristen for everything she's doing and she's inspiring.
Yeah, we had the. Chance When I got here
yesterday, Claire and I went to her offices and she gave us the
tour and we got to see like whatgoes on behind the scenes and
just it was so cool and the stuff that she has coming up and

(28:27):
just the creativity really cool out of.
Control. And again, like I was there when
she didn't have the deal yet with the NFL and she was
stressed about it and I told hershe had so.
Many no's. Oh my.
God, people don't know. People thought it was an instant
thing. You, Pete, That's the thing.
People have no idea. Like my friend Annie Bosco, who
just releasing us her album today.

(28:48):
Everyone thinks, oh, she just got no, that bitch has been
working for 18 years 24/7. And and so I remember and I got
to tell her this, yes, I remember when you were stressed
because they wouldn't help. They I can say what I want.
They weren't saying yes at that,at that moment.
And she looked stressed. She's like, I don't know.
And I looked at her and I said, you're going to get it and

(29:09):
you're going to blow up girl. Like I already know.
And two seasons later, I mean offseason brand with Taylor
Swift, where it's just awesome to see.
And I Speaking of the cancer because it is cancer awareness
month in October and my. Got you.

(29:30):
I lost 2 dads to cancer. Yeah.
Mine too yours. Too.
And I got to give a shout out toBruce, who has legendary fucking
doughnuts by the way. The bomb has protein doughnuts.
Who's allowed us to be in his? My 2.
Favorite things protein and doughnuts right we're.
Going to and we want. Yeah, exactly.

(29:51):
And I want to give a shout out because just how life happens
that not only are they pushing doughnuts and all the things in
here, but there's literally right behind these walls.
They're trying to cure cancer. That's amazing, Bruce.
Bruce. Bruce who's at a fucking
slapping contest though in Vegasright now.

(30:12):
We'll get to that later. Oh God, it always gets me the
cancer thing. But together we're going to come
up with some I think amazing things and amazing events to try
to do our part to help, you know, those that are battling,
you know, and our song fighter with with Annie.
We actually got the phone yesterday and there's some, we
have some ideas to try to get back in the world of cancer.

(30:33):
So we're going to, we're going to, you know, do the best we can
on that. And I'm praying for Carrie and
I, I, I don't know her, but I, Iknow that vibe of like being
watching somebody go through it.It's, it's a very tough thing to
watch. So we're going to send her love
and wish her grace. But now we are going to take a

(30:54):
turn because we got the dove last night, Thursday night,
still tired football. We were up all night.
I mean, what the hell? A before.
Yeah, let's get a drink. Let's get a drink.
What the hell? A some of the biggest
conversation right now is the ram Sean McVeigh going going for

(31:19):
it in overtime, 4th in one. What are your thoughts on that
as a coach, as a broadcaster? What are your You were in the
suite. I was next to you.
What were your thoughts? What did you anything that.
I mean, you, you know, I understand in the heat of the
moment, I think you and you know, you got to believe in your
team, right? I think there was a little,

(31:41):
maybe too much, not arrogance, but just, you know, like we're
going to go for this. What I don't understand is I
understand that move. If there's like a minute and 34
or 30 seconds left, but 3 minutes and 41 seconds on the
clock, you could tie the game with a field goal and then play
it out. That's a long time in the world

(32:02):
of football. That's like. 3 or 4 possessions.
And then like, you know, put it in the hands of your defense and
let them go to work, get a stop. And you got Matthew Stafford as
your quarterback like the dude is can.
He was airing it out like he. Was airing it out.
So from that perspective, I, youknow, that's all.
What the hell. But hey, it worked for us.
Yeah. We're like what the hell, E and

(32:23):
we're happy with it, but. Our defense was like phenomenal,
dude. I I am not.
I am. I have played that fourth and
one probably 10 times between midnight last night and this
morning. Coming to the podcast, they were
like, who did? This who was Oh my God, look at
that. Block how's that?
Who the and they were rookies. Let's give a shout out to the

(32:44):
rookies. Alfred Collins out of Texas.
Fuck Mark Marquis Siegel came inlike a freight train like Oh my
God. And to be, I have to say this
and to be in the suite, thanks to you, she snuck me in to watch
that game in fourth quarter and overtime was, was, was something

(33:09):
I'll never forget. I mean, Jan was out of control.
We were just like, and I noticed, I don't know if you
noticed the three of us without even knowing it, we were all
standing up at the same time andthen leaning at the same time.
It was like we were like, it was, I know, I feel.
Like I'm on the sidelines coaching again.
Yeah. Just like you're so locked in
and it was just the, and let's be honest, it's the 49ers and

(33:30):
the Rams. You know that you can throw
records out the window every time these two teams meet.
And but I, I laughed this morning when I was listening,
you know, to the pundits on the morning after the armchair
quarterbacks. But I think it was NFL Network.
They said, you know, the, the 49ers had no business winning
that game on paper. And they walked in there with

(33:52):
their C team and took out the Rams on their home field.
It was just like it was everything.
And the thing that I think it yes, the win is great.
We're three and O in the division.
We're four and one overall. We're leading it.
But what this, and I think I said this to you last night,
this win is going to be huge, huge in January, huge because

(34:14):
we're making the playoffs. We're winning the division huge
because what it does is of all those rookies, you know, it's
culture and it's it's confidenceand you're you're doing this
with guys that nobody thought could do it or hasn't proven
themselves. I shouldn't say, didn't think
they could do it, haven't proventhemselves and they're proving
themselves. And now it becomes the

(34:35):
expectation in their own mind ofthis isn't a we can do this.
Why not? Why not us and I?
Feel like that's been the 49ers culture.
Obviously, I've only been aroundit since George has been in it.
But since he's gotten here, yeah, we've gone through our
bumps and our lumps and our injuries.
And I mean, now we're down 7 starters, I think to injury and

(34:56):
still doing this is incredible. So the prayer and the hope is
they all come back and get healthy and get on the field and
that you can now look back, you know, they'll be talking about
it in the postseason, that look at the way the Niners started
and, you know, it was a MASH unit, right?
And they're figuring out a way to win 100.
And that stuff is so crucial between the ears late in the

(35:18):
season. Absolutely.
And I did a real when we lost everybody, I was in this, I was
in my bed and I was just like feeling all the things.
I'm just going to turn the camera on.
And I was like, but I believe, but I believe it's next.
It's a faithful. Mind, it's a.
Faithful and it's next man up and let's fucking go and we're

(35:38):
in Levi's Stadium and we're going to be the third team to
win a Super Bowl in front of ourhome fans.
There you go preach it. Let's fucking go and I I wanted
to use the F word because we talked about it last night and I
think that's where it was appropriate.
So all the things with the Niners, we could talk about them
on a whole another like a whole with all the injuries.

(35:58):
I I do like do we need to save the locker room?
Like what do we need to do? How do we doing it do?
Everybody just pray. Can we just?
Pray to bring them all back. Just pray, keep them healthy.
And we're not even peeking. That's the thing.
No, we're we're not, we're not, we're not even peeking and we're
pulling out these wins. And like you said, it's just
going to bring everybody to the next level from that practice

(36:19):
squad. Everybody has a chance to be
that that guy to turn that around.
So I'm excited for it, but now Iwant to talk about flex or next
we're going to switch sports. But because you're, you know, a
basketball connoisseur, I want to know your thoughts on the

(36:39):
WNBA and what Nafisa Collier did.
I say that right, OK. Because my little Mexican accent
always fucks it up. Wow.
She I've never seen an athlete that I can remember come out and
be so specific about how she feels about a commissioner or

(37:00):
somebody at that level in their field.
What are your thoughts on that? Yeah.
Well, first of all, it's called what flex or next, I think
that's a flex. I'm here for it.
You know, for people that aren'tfamiliar with the WNBA, that's
like one of the four or one of the NFL players coming out and
calling out Rodger Goodell and just saying you're a terrible
leader and we need a leadership change and you're basically

(37:22):
running this league really shitty, right?
You suck. Yeah.
And we want you gone. That was a, that was a, that was
a flag for somebody who needs tofire her.
Yeah, I think, you know, for me,for someone, and I'm going to,
you know, throw it back. But I was a like 5 to 6 years
first, I call it first generation NCAA Division one

(37:43):
athlete. And so I think back to the days
when I started playing and, you know, I got a full ride
scholarship to go to college andplay basketball, which was
unheard of badass, you know, Andso but then it was like, you get
this, take this, sit down and shut up.
You know, it was like, we shouldn't have to give this to
you kind of mentality and and you have to earn it and you have

(38:06):
to put up with all the shit thatcomes along with it.
And you can't say shit. Yeah, You know, yeah.
So there was a lot of stuff thatwent on that was not cool that
in today's age, like people would be thrown in jail, right.
Or, you know, at least prosecuted.
And cancelled and cancelled and all the things, yeah.
And so to see it now, you know, and then my daughter got to play

(38:28):
and and I saw her experience like as it should be, head and
shoulders above what I had because, you know, we laid the
groundwork. Like I think of Jan George's mom
and she was an AIAWI think is what it was before the NCAA was
even a thing and playing then. And so all of these the history
of women's basketball, which really isn't that long ago, it's

(38:49):
it's been incremental improvements every single
season, every single year as we want it to be, right.
And so now you've got the era ofCaitlin Clark, also Iowa girl,
and who has completely brought more eyeballs to a sport than
any marketing department could ever think about doing.
Yep. And it's you've got to have the

(39:10):
right people in place to capitalize on that and to take
it to the next level. Because it's not it doesn't.
It's not that Caitlin Clark and and this era of players, Page,
Becker's Angel Reese, you know, all the names that everybody
hears about now have gotten us to this level and we're done.
It's like, what's next? Yeah.
And that's the vision you need to see.
And, and the way I see it and what Nafisa Collier was trying

(39:33):
to get across is that's not the leadership that they're getting
right now. And in fact, the leadership is
kind of looking at it and going, you should be thanking me for
what you have. It's like, oh, no, no, no, wait
a minute. Yeah.
No, no, no, no. You know, it's like you're
biting off the arm that feeds you.
Yeah. So.
I think it's interesting too. And you know, on, I'll give her

(39:54):
props. I was a when Nafisa Collier was
a 5A freshman at UConn, I did a leadership training with their
team. She was a freshman and Brianna
Stewart was a senior. And so you want to talk about a
girl that grew up in a culture of winning.
I mean, that was when UConn was going for, I think, their fourth
national championship in a row. And she had the best of the best

(40:15):
leading her and teaching her theright way.
So she knows what excellence looks like and what great
leadership looks like. And she's she tried to do it the
right way. She tried to have one-on-one
conversations and they went on deaf ears.
And so she used her platform andyou know, they have a CBA coming
up And so we'll see where it goes.
But I props for to her. I have a feeling of resignation

(40:37):
might be probably. Yeah, I.
Don't know how you come back from that, that that you can't
have that type of leadership, that type of mentality,
especially where the WNBA is right now.
Like it's crazy. Let me, because now I got to ask
you, what were your thoughts on not letting Caitlin go to the
Olympics? Yeah.
You know, I think a lot of that stuff is political,

(40:58):
unfortunately. It's not that she wasn't good
enough. Yeah, but yeah, you know, and
it's it just comes down to politics and who's been there
the longer and the representation.
But again, I think I don't thinkthe WNBA was ready for Caitlin
Clark. They did not know the gift.

(41:18):
They did not know the gift. But I'm, I'm going to say it
because now I have, I can say shit like this.
That was a fail. That was a fail.
You should have had Caitlin period.
And And by the way, our friend, because now your friend of Penny
Toller, shout out to my girl Penny Toller, president of
football Sexy and the WNBA legend, like all the things she

(41:40):
has been on record saying. Because Penny, I don't know if
you know this. Penny puts together 3 Olympic
basketball teams. Oh.
No, I didn't know. Yeah.
She, this is what she did. She has, yeah.
She's got the gold medals. She was like, I absolutely would
have had Caitlin. Yeah, throwing it out there.
Oh yeah. I mean, I'm not ever voting
against Caitlin Clark. She's an Iowa girl.
Hell. Yeah, let's go, Caitlin.

(42:02):
Oh, my God. Well, I could keep you here
forever. Forever.
But we're going to go see our friend tonight and we're going
to go get ready for that. But is there anything else
before I ask you one more thing that that I am missing that you
guys are doing in the future, besides the host tailgate tour,
anything. The Kiddo Things podcast.

(42:23):
I mean, that's enough. Yeah.
Is there anything else that I'm missing?
Well, Claire and. Kristen Speaking of have a show
coming out on YouTube, which is why all the cameras were there.
Are we? Breaking news right now.
I'm going to do it anyway. OK?
It's called wiped up, miked up. OK.
And so they're going to have their own little show on on
YouTube you. Heard it here maybe first.

(42:44):
Oh. My.
God, I love that. Well, hopefully they'll let us
air this, but that's awesome. Yeah, that's amazing.
I'm here for it. Well, our last bit of business
is who got next. And what we like to do is have
our guests say like basketball, who got next?
If you is there someone that youthink should be sitting in that

(43:05):
chair after you? I know I put you on the spot
the. First, the walkout song I know I
got to. Throw.
So I got to throw some, you know, like, are we?
Talking like sports? Anybody that you think would
talk a little bit of football, alittle bit of life with me, a
little bit of. Football, a little bit of life.
Who got next? Drum roll please.
Why am I not? Thinking of a name, I mean my

(43:27):
daughter, but good luck getting her here, yeah?
We'd have to might, we'd have tofly everywhere to find her.
Yeah. She's.
Actually already did her podcastby the way.
Thank you. She did Super Bowl.
Super Bowl. Oh, that's right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's good.
She did do it. I mean, I think Kristen.
Kristen. Kristen.
Use check get your butt in this chair Let's.

(43:48):
Fucking go. I'm all about it.
Oh, my goodness. That would be great.
OK, we're going to try to get Kristen.
Let's see what we can do. I mean.
She's in LA, This is where offseason is.
I didn't know that, yeah. This is where she flies here all
the time. I did.
Not know that. OK, Kristen, can you come talk
some football with me and let's talk some bitching ass apparel?

(44:10):
I know. It's great, it really is.
I love that it's long. I'm really long and I'm.
Tall no wonder I don't know if I've ever yeah yeah, it's all
good. Well I'm so excited Kristen
we're try to get Kristen Shelleyfrom the bottom of my heart
thank you for being such a greatfriend like all the things minus
the sweet like seats and all that for being a great friend.

(44:32):
By the way I'm going to say thisright now.
You are a I call you my coach mymotivational coach.
She is now taking me under. How do I say that What am I
you're you're my leadership coach so she's also can can I
say about Heather? Oh, go ahead.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Heather.
Talks about that, Heather. 'S a badass, which will all tag

(44:54):
her at some point. Heather's a badass in music and
she has been very vocal about Shelley being a big part of her
success in the music business asa coach.
And when I got to see that, I said, well, Shelly's my friend,
I need a fucking coach. And now I'm thank you for taking
me on as one of your clients. I will say it like that as well.

(45:17):
You're. Not too difficult I'm.
Not well. Let's see what happens this
year. You're fairly.
Coachable am I? Coachable, I'm trying No, it's
like literally some things that you've helped motivate me as an
entrepreneur in this space and being a woman and going we go
through shit and being able to have a place to to bring that to
you on a professional level and help me in my life has been

(45:39):
very, very useful and and makingmy life a little bit more
manageable actually, because it's a lot and it is and I
think. That, you know, we all go, it's
I when people ask about what that what I do, it's like, you
know, I equate it to hiring a personal trainer.
Like literally we all can go on YouTube and get videos.
We could go take a class, join a, a gym, but if that were the

(46:06):
case, if that's all it took, everybody would be fit and
healthy and look, you know, and feel the way they want to feel.
But we get in our own way. And so if you hire a personal
trainer, you're going to get to your, your goals a lot quicker
because there's someone there with knowledge, with
accountability. You know, that alone is huge.
And and also it's a, I always say it's like a, a third party

(46:29):
that doesn't have skin in the game other than your success.
And so that's what, you know, I do as a coach.
And I think it makes it, I thinkevery adult should have one
because we're just like thrown into adulthood and like, there
you go figure it out. Yep. 100%, I highly recommend
Shelly. Maybe I'll throw a coat out
there for somebody who maybe wants to need some help in their

(46:51):
life and maybe we'll hook that up.
But thank you for being my coachand my friend and Taylor Swift's
new friend. We didn't even talk about that
came up. Because her album dropped today,
I. Know I know we didn't even talk
about tight end university with so much I got to have you back
another one we'll have to do another one because.
TEU has got some surprises coming.
TEU. We OK, so we got to do a Part 2

(47:13):
at some point. Yes.
Are you good with that? OK, maybe we'll bring Kristen.
Thank you for being here. Let's fucking go.
And as always, keep it. Sexy.
Thank you. Let's.
