Speaker 1 (00:01):
We're tired and hired Kevin Polar for the day hosting
FT with me and aj Aj. You did this well
last time. What's your advice for your KP, who we
just saw in Vegas?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Just be yourself, brother, you know, for yourself. Not everyone's
gonna like what you say all the time, but you
know what, at the end of the day, be yourself
and if you believe it and it's what your heart
tells you to say or do, just stick with it.
You'll be fine. I don't think you'll have I don't
think Kevin will have a problem with that. He seems
like the guy he'll be all.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Right, Yeah, straightforward, dude. How you doing, KP.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
I'm good, you guys good.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Very good. And also you might hear feedback from fans
that disagree with your takes, and sometimes they take it
a little bit far and challenge your baseball knowledge. I
don't think you have to remind them, but you've got
pretty solid credentials and most of the time the people
coming after you don't.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Hey, that's no different than playing what I've been dealing
with for the last you know, twelve thirteen years of
my life.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
I'm excited for this.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
You too, aj, we didn't have you yesterday. How was Chicago?
We'll get into the dance scene with Ken, but how
were the Cubs? And I saw a bunch of Cubs
homers on the game you were doing. Who did they
beat up?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Oh? The Red Sox Red Sox. Yeah, they beat him
the first two games, and Crochet went out and dealt
on Sunday. But the game I did, man, the Cubs
could Immenaga was Nastyoga. I don't know if y'all watch it,
but Emanaga has like this thing where he throws it
and he just stares at the hitter after he punches
him with the split, he just looks at him and
then he goes It's like the weirdest thing. It's the

(01:41):
coolest thing. And we showed it on the broadcast. But yeah,
Emmenaga dealt. The Cubs hit four home runs, PCA hit one.
They've hit leadoff homers back to back Bush and h
Tucker to lead off the game. I mean that game
was over in the first inning. It was two nothing
in the first two hitters of the game, and you
tell that game was pretty much over. But was look good.
The Red Sox, though, are surprisingly good, So we'll see,

(02:03):
it's gonna be interesting the next ten days. The Red
Sox last last lost last night to the Phillies on
that weird catcher's interference play. But this next ten to
twelve days will tell a lot about the Red Sox.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Red Sox have a Gauntlet schedule too, and they've lost
three out of four coming out of the break after
the massive wind streak entering the break, what was it
ten games for the Red Sox entering the break. The
Brewers have been able to keep their little roll going.
Last thing. Then we'll get to Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
KP.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Did you face show to him? Anaga?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, I was.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I was gonna say when he was talking about him.
We always talk about big pictures, how it's unique. He's
a very small person. It's a different feel when he's
on the mound. It's coming from a much lower angle.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
You know.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Obviously there's a lot of different things you try to
do in the cage now to kind of recreate what
that's like, facing and maybe putting the machine.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Almost on the ground.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
He's got that true like ride heater, and then the
split is kind of ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
It's something you don't see a lot over here.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
It's a probably a very traditional Japanese Asian split finger.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
You don't see a lot here. It's a tough at bat.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Is it tougher based on the size and the ride
heater because it's coming at you from that angle and
then it's still finishing up here with the fast ball. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
I mean, it's much like facing a sight arm or
although he's not pitching from the side, he's just so little.
You know, you're used to looking up on a mound.
Majority of pitchers are, you know, over six feet standing
on the mound, you're kind of looking up. You're almost
looking eye level at him, and the ball's coming from.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
A much lower slot.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
The advice I got, because I had never faced him, was,
you know, go up there and see a pitch or
two to kind of pick up that arm slot. But
he's a legitimate, you know, borderline ace, you know, and
they're they're doing a lot of good things right now.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
It's exciting time to be a Cubs fan.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Kevin, I have a question for you on that on
Immanaga pitching and the way he pitches. He's ninety to
ninety one, maybe ninety two every once in a while,
and guys do not hit it. They don't square it up,
they hit pop ups or they swing underneath it. Why
is it because like I guess it's maybe because of
what Scott said, and he throws from a lower angle
and he really gets behind it. But we were watching
the game in the Red Sox and they were taking

(04:09):
a pitch and they were behind oh one, and then
they had to get the split and then it's like
oh two, and then they were like, all right, high fast,
Why would you not just go up and say, our
first heater I get. I'm trying to jump it, get
on top of it and see if I can go
deep because he's a fly ball guy.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, I think.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I think because of that unique arm angle, because it
is coming from a lower slot, you want to make
sure to pick it up. But you know, it's it's
hard to quote unquote get on top of a ride heater,
and you know, most of us are trying to get
the ball in the air when we're in the box, and.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
It's just a tough guy to square up.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
But it will be interesting to see them if they
get in the playoffs and a team faces him a
second time. You know, within the same week, what kind
of sort of adjustments you can make I'd have to
look at the numbers to see what the numbers look
like second and third time through the order, but.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
They go down.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Definitely a guy you don't want to get behind because
the split is so good.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
They go down. The numbers go down. The first two
innings is when you got to get him, and then
the numbers are like off a cliffs. If you look
at his numbers the first two innings, he has like
a I don't know I had the numbers, but it
was like a five era the first two innings and
after that it goes to like a two. So I mean,
if you don't get him in the first two innings,
because then he settles in and he gets his Rojoe going,
he's doing all this and he's throwing, he's smiling, he's

(05:25):
laughing out there. And then I don't know, guys get
mad because you're like, how the hell am I not
hitting this little dude? But yeah, I mean, you.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Know, you played, you played a long time.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
There's a there's certain guys that the numbers on the
scoreboard don't jump off in terms of like the radar gun.
And you watch him and you see the stuff and
you're like, there's nothing crazy about what he's doing up there.
It's not like unicorn pitches, but you know, we like
to call those comfortable over fours. He's definitely one of
those guys. You're not intimidated by him because the velocity

(05:54):
is not high. He's not a ratic. He's around the zone.
You feel like you know you have, You feel like
you're not intimidated. When you seven the box, you know
you're gonna get a good swing off. He's just one
of those guys it's hard to square up.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
So there's a team in the division that's got them
beat right now. Record wise, they actually have the best
record in baseball. Let's charge the mound. Charge about make
it eleven straight wins for the Milwaukee Brewers. They took
down George Kirby and the Mariners last night. Kirby held
them hitless for the first five innings. Brandon Woodriff is

(06:26):
on fire right off the get go. Coming back from
major shoulder surgery. It took some time, aj he had
some setbacks. He was just on our show the other day,
but it's almost as if I mentioned this yesterday. They
picked up two number one starters in Woodriff and Misowski
to add to what was already somewhat solid rotation, and
then the offense has started to pick up the pace.

(06:47):
So they shut out the Mariners last night, and they
keep rolling.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Their pitching is so good. Listen, you just mentioned I
was in the Cubs game the other day and I
think Ken, it was either Ken or Adam one of them,
asked about the Brewers and councils, like They're pitching is
just so good. It just keeps getting better. Freddy Parult
is having an unbelievable year. McGill's having a great year
in the back end. They just keep finding guys and
you bring back Woodroff and Misowski as he keeps going.

(07:13):
This is a daunting task. Now they hit a little bit,
They've gotten some of their guys going. You mentioned where
Teazes started to swing the bat, yell, he's been doing good.
Controversi has kind of turned it around a little bit. So,
I mean, this team looks good right now, and I
mean they're not gonna keep winning every single game. They're
gonna lose eventually. But here's my thing about the Milwaukee Brewers.
Nobody saw him here. Nobody saw him here last ye

(07:33):
except for maybe Cratzy, But restled. You better watch out
because if you go into a series and you get
Freddy p Miserowski Woodrof with their bullpen in a short
series especially, it gonna be tough to deal with.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Excuse me, there is someone on our panel. He's an
OG host. Who picked them to I.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Say, except Cratzy, Oh you picked them?

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I picked them to win the division before the season started. No,
it starts. Yeah, you're right because I broadcasted in Milwaukee
for so many Midwest games when I was doing the
YouTube Game of the Week. But KP for me with Milwaukee,
it's love averages at this point that they're able to
withstand the superstars leaving. They're able to grow pitching right,

(08:14):
develop it both within and even the guys they acquire
often turned into golds. They've done that with their bullpen.
It's always guys that nobody's ever heard of. And then
here comes, you know, some young position players that they
were able to develop. So the perfect mix is going
on here right now. Pat Murphy plays the whole. Nobody
knows us. We're average. Joe's kind of thing really well

(08:35):
with them. What do you think of Milwaukee?

Speaker 3 (08:38):
I think it's you.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
We got to start talking about them in the same
breadth as like the Houston Astros. It's just whatever they
do seems to work. It's got to be a culture thing.
It's an organizational thing. They're really good, like you mentioned,
drafting and developing players, especially pitching. But they always find
the guys that no one's ever heard of. And you know,
they have guys in their bullpen that I couldn't even

(09:01):
name who they are, and you go face him, You're like,
this is the best picture I've ever seen and it's
their seventh eighth sixth inning, their mop up guy. They
just continue to find really good arms, really good players,
undervalued players, guys that have just kind of bounced around
from team to team. They find a home in Milwaukee.
And someone's got to do with Pat Murphy too. He's
just an awesome dude to be around. He's probably a

(09:23):
great motivator. He probably keeps things light. And then you
got some great leaders at the top in Yellie and Contrera's.
It seemed like a great place to play, unbelievable stadium,
great fan base. But they're obviously doing something right there.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Crats, what do I do? I'm in a bind and
I need to make some food at home. I would
like it to be home cooked, but I don't want
to deal with any of the grocery crap.

Speaker 5 (09:50):

Speaker 2 (10:41):
KP hold on. Let's slow down on the Astros comparison
here because they got to win a World Series first
before we can lump them because the Astros have won
a couple. Now, I know they've done a great job
with the Brewers getting to the postseason, but they haven't
had a ton of success in the postseason. So until
they get to the World Series and win the World
Series and go to the LCS for how many every
years in a row, the Astros were in it until
last year. They're good, but the Astros have been even better,

(11:04):
which is what's amazing.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Yeah, I mean, I totally agree with you. I went
a little far there with the comparison.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
No, no, No.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
The point I was trying to make is just the
s of the parts is always a greater, you know,
kind of like the Astros. You're kind of always waiting
for them. They have players lead, they have superstars leave,
and then the next guy just comes in and fills
the spot. They lose guys, it seems like every day
and they're starting rotation and the next guy comes up
and they're just as good. They're great, and they just

(11:33):
never seem to miss a beat. That's kind of how
the Brewers have been, at least over the last couple
of years. But to your point, they do have to
go out and go a little bit deeper in the
playoffs to kind of be in the same and obviously
win it, to be in the same breath as the
Houston Astros.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
So what are we doing at the deadline for Milwaukee Aja,
They could use a little more punch from the left
side of the infield. There's not a lot of punch
to acquire on the left side of the infield. The
name that brought up over and over for the best
probably bad available at the deadline as Gino Suarez, but
they're not necessarily trading him if they're hovering around the

(12:09):
five hundred mark, So it might be difficult to find
some really suitable Plan B and C options for Milwaukee, right.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I mean, Suarez is the perfect fit for the Brewers,
isn't he one year expiring contract? They won't maybe, I mean,
we don't know what they're gonna have to give up
because the Yankees and some other teams are really in
on him too, So with the price, just get driven
out of their price arrangement. Yeah, they need somebody on
the left side of the infant. I don't know who
that could possibly be. I really don't because Suarz is
the name that everyone looks at. But I mean, there's

(12:37):
gonna be somebody traded, and KP knows us too that
we're not expecting it's gonna There's gonna be a shortstop
or a third baseman or somebody that's gonna get traded,
and you're gonna be like, wait, no one saw that.
Maybe Kenzy's a coming, but us normal folk aren't going
to see that coming, right, So I don't know who
that name is, but something's gonna go down, and it
might be like the Brewers trade from a position of
strength and maybe a bullpen piece or a starter to

(13:00):
another team to get a maybe someone that's under control
that we haven't thought about. I don't know who that
might be, but we'll see what they need one more
bad at least for because I'll tell you what. There's
a guy we haven't even talked about, Abner Rebay. Have
you seen his numbers and his stuff he chunks up
there every day? Are you kidding me? With that stuff
that he throws like? That dude was unbelievable this year.

(13:20):
Check out his numbers. If you haven't seen him in
the stuff that he throws up there.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah, I gave him an ounce of love yesterday when
we were shouting out the bullpen that basically no one
can name aside from possibly Trevor McGill at the back
end closing things down. And also because you know he
could be vocal at times and kind of speak his mind.
But besides that, Yeah, your Reba has been a star
for them. Mears the kid who they picked up last
year around the trade deadline from Colorado. I mean, come on,

(13:48):
most people probably saw that coming. Milwaukee very specifically targets
a no name from Milwaukee, has good peripheral numbers. Shocker.
Now he's really good out of the bullpen for them.
Anyone else that we can think of, I mean, shortstop
is even tougher to find for a first division replacement option.
Joey Ortiz just hasn't hit.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
What about Yeah?

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Right, Like I said, I.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Feel like every every year someone gets traded or two
players get traded that no one even knows is available.
I would expect, you know, two or three of those names,
you know, at the end of the trade deadline and
you're like, never saw it coming. So maybe there's someone
out there that you know, none of us are thinking
about on the left side of the endfield, maybe a
team that's in it or you know, gonna wait right

(14:34):
up until the deadline to make a big move, probably
someone under control that you don't expect getting traded. But
it feels like Milwaukee's you know, it's their time to
kind of, you know, maybe sell some of the prospects
and go for it.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
This year, they might beef up the bullpen even more
so too. I Mean, the thing that they have to
figure out aja is how to win and get deep
into the postseason. This group has to figure out how
to get through the gauntlet of the National League. They're
going to have to take down teams like the Phillies, Mets, Dodgers,
et cetera in that National League side before they could

(15:11):
even get to the World Series and think about winning one.
And you're right, I mean, that's the big difference between
the team like Milwaukee and Houston. Now Milwaukee has to
do it with an even lower payroll than Houston, So
that part's impressive for them to maintain winning every year
and be in contention for a playoff spot, But they
haven't done a lot of damage in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
That was yeah, that was kind of my point, like
they've been great, they've been gotten, they've gone to the postseason.
They I mean they listen, they lost a heartbreaker to
the Mets last year when Peede Alonzo swinging just crushed
their soul when he went opo off Devin Wims pitching
like nobody had hit in like five years. So yeah,
I mean, they've had some close calls. They've had opportunities
to get there, but they just haven't gotten it done.

(15:52):
So how do you take that next step? I think
it's a cute story. It's a fun story. It's like
the Twins for all those years right in the Al Central.
They'd win the Central, they get there and they'd lose
in the first round, but they'd always have to play
the Yankees. They could never get over that hurdle. So
it's one of those strange things about the Brewers. For
some reason, as good as they are, they just can't
figure out how to get deep into the World Series
and possibly win one.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
So I'll finish with this. Jim Boden put out his
intel from thirty Teams around the League Notes column in
the past twenty four hours, and he talked about how
they're looking to improve the left side of the infield.
So he said they're among the teams who could be
in play for Suarez, like we mentioned, but he did
at least provide other names that are interesting. I don't
know if any of them are realistic. He said they

(16:34):
could be in play for Ryan McMahon of the Rockies.
Obviously they have to let him go. That ownership group
loves him. The Cardinals with noelan Arnatto and his full
note trade clause.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
To me, he's not going there realistic, He's not going there.
It would go to Houston. He's not going to Milwaukee
taking the money.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Yeah, I mean, Milwaukee's very tight with their budget. I
don't think they're taking the money on that. I don't
think there's going to be an agreement there. Here's where
things get it interesting too, because he's saying, hey, they're
trying to find an offensive upgrade, potentially a shortstop. Joey
Ortiz is not hit well. He said that the Brewers
have been linked to two speedy Marlins infielders Xavier Edwards
and Otto Lopez, both under a billion years of team

(17:16):
control too. I mean yesterday, I don't.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I mean, I don't be honest, I don't really know
much about those two guys. I mean, I've heard of
their names, but KP might know more. But that doesn't move.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Yeah, it's not a it's not a needle mover for me.
Maybe a slight upgrade, but I don't I think they
need more than a slight upgrade.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
I mean, Otto Lopez is a fantastic defender. He's having
a really good year. These are two Marlins players that
have helped them stay away from being one of the
terrible teams in baseball. I mean, the Marlins are better
than the Braves record wise. Lopez about league gabbage batt
ops plus at ninety eight from second base, where he
was elite last year and this year at the position.

(18:01):
And then for Xavier Edwards, I mean, he's one of
the fastest players in the league. He's also right around
the league average with the bat three point fifty eight
on base percent, so he's getting on base thirty six
percent at the time. He doesn't that much pop. And
he'll steal thing about.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Murph though, I'll tell you this right now. Murph will
take a shortstop like Joey Ortiz that makes all the plays.
He'll He'll listen. There are certain people out there Murph.
I don't know how well KP's Murphy, but Murph is
a pitching defense and he's an old school guy, right, Yeah,
he loves homers. Everyone knowves homers except Kevin Sitzer. But listen,
the bottom line is Murph wants a guy that will
play shortstop and pick it. Willie Domins was great when

(18:33):
he was sitting thirty homers for him, but Joey Ortiz
makes all the plays defensively and whatever they get out now,
in order for them to upgrade, it has to be
a significant upgrade, right, Because Joey Ortiz is there for
a long time. He's under control, So they're not just
going to go out and be like, oh, let's go
get a short stop for one year. That could stunt
Joey Ortiz's development. They're gonna need a significant upgrade. And
that's why a Gino Sporez works. Maybe McMahon ar and

(18:55):
I was not going to Milwaukee. He wouldn't go to Houston.
He's not going to Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Yeah, and for me, it's just hard to see the
Marlins start to part with players that have many years
left of team control. But yes, even if they did
acquire someone like that, that's not an impact bat. Those
players are both brewers Ish players. For me, aj they
both play I mean again, like I mentioned, Lopez is
playing a lot of short stop this year too. They're

(19:21):
both scrappy. They do a lot of the little things well.
But I don't think that the Marlins are going to
be trading away there five years of control type guys.
We talked about Kyle Sowers yesterday and how that was
shot down, and they're not going to deal him away
after it sounded like they would be open to conversations,
you know about the best plays to buy, sell, trade

(19:43):
or look for that special card in your world. It's
called Arena Club and Aircrafts just went through a little
slab pack experience and you went big. You went for
the Ruby pack.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
I love clicking on the Ruby pack and knowing that
I'm going to open something that is going to be epic.
I got a Calric Junior autographed one of forty two.
I'm keeping it right now, but I would love to
have it in my hands, so I might even have
him send it to me already graded everything taking care
for me.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
That's right. You want to hang it up and stare
at it. All day. Go for it. But if you're
in there to get something else or to sell it away,
you can do that. They've got the buyback program, or
you can put it on the marketplace yourself. Tons of options.
This is where the best cards live. It's arenaclub dot com.

Arena club dot com slash foh u L use code

Alvarez is back. He got the big ovation from the crowd.
He had really been struggling going back to last year.
He was a mess in the playoffs at the plate,
and now he's back. He was able to break the

(20:52):
hitless streak he had going on flyball to Wright that
I think was kind of misplayed by Chris Taylor. But anyway,
they had a big comeback win. Edwin Diaz shuts the door.
What do you think about the Mats, Well.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
It was big of a win. It was for the Mets.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
It was a tough loss for the Angels because they
got off to such a good start in Philly right
after the All Star break, and they're one of those
teams that's kind of just hovering right around five hundred.
Are they going to buy, They're gonna sell? Are they
going to make a real push to for a wild card?
But the Mets big comeback win. To your point, it's
just amazing when you get a little extra support from

(21:28):
your fan base, you know, maybe a little standing ovation
when you come to the plate. You see some players
get some positive results. It should be a reminder of fans.
It just you know, it's hard. I know what it's
like to be a fan of other sports and other teams.
But just continue to try to encourage these guys because
he's going to be a big part of what you
guys are trying to accomplish.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Hey, AJ, Paul Skeen shut down the Tigers yesterday three nothing,
picked up his first win since late May, and we've
got a little tweet to show how good he's been
overall since he started forty four career games players since
nineteen oh one with three hundred plus k's and a
sub to era. There's only one human and that is
Paul Skeen's leading baseball with a one nine one era

(22:13):
after six shutout innings, three hit, six k's yesterday.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
You know what's interesting that Tigers, first of all, skeins
is on a different planet. All right, let's just say
that right now. Did you face him KP or did
you miss him? Was that you had skeins itis that
day and.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
You were like, no, no, he's right handed. He's right handed.
And there's a lot of times when you become a
platoon guy later in your career, like man, I wish
I could play every day, and then you run into
guys like that and you're like, yeah, well I'll sit
on the bench.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Okay, but you're right. I would have been fun to
just say you did it. I mean like I faced
kersh Reddy Johnson, Like yeah, I was like I faced him.
I didn't have much success, but at least I got
to face them. But the thing of a hero is
I mean, yes, skin shut them out. But the Tigers
they're kind of not doing what they were doing. They're
not swinging the bats, they're not scoring a lot of
runs right now, the Tigers, so they need to figure
this out. What for scoobl On Sunday night, they've been

(23:03):
lost a bunch in a row, so they need to
kind of get it going again. I know they have
still have a big lead, but they got a let's go,
let's go keep it going.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Injury suck. We'll do a quick segment here on the
ongoing Jordan Alvarez saga with the Astros. So he spoke
yesterday and we still don't know when he's going to
come back. Here's some of the quotes from Chandler Rome,
who covers the team for the Athletic and for Kush
City Territory. Great show. Check it out. Quote from Jord
on where the pain is in the hand, It's a
little bit difficult to have surgery there. That's why I

(23:35):
say I need a little bit of rest right now.
It's an area where normally we don't get surgery in
that area. But I think it isn't something I'll have
to keep dealing with. And Chandler had asked if he
will have to deal with it all this year, and
he said, I wish not, but I don't know. If
I have to deal with it, it will be for
the rest of this season. I think I need to
rest it, but again I need to come back and play,
and I think I'm in the right direction right now

(23:56):
to come back and to play. So we got some updates, yeah,
yesterday on your don The saga continues here. I don't
know how much you've followed this one, KP. But originally
they misdiagnosed him, and I can only imagine when you
get a diagnosis and then you're working your way back
from rehab and really you shouldn't be working your way
back yet, how much damage could be done.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah, I mean, it's probably very frustrating. I've been in
some organizations where it's happened to some players before, and
you know, obviously your organization, your medical staff, you know,
want the best for you there. Every organization is trying
to win, but it's unfortunate when something like that does happen.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
But the game is in such a better place.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
When he is playing, and the Astros are already really,
really good, and there's so much better with him in
the lineup.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
In my opinion, he's a top five hitter in baseball.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
With just his peer ability to hit for average and
use the whole field and his power to all fields,
he's one of the scariest hitters to be in the field.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
In the outfield when he's coming up to that.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
So hopefully he can heal up here quick and get
back on the field because I love watching him hit.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
A j So they lost these zac Paris the other day,
another big, big bat right, one of their top four
or five bats, and Ord Doan's out, Jeremy Pani is out.
The other update was from a on field perspective. He
hit soft toss yesterday sixty to sixty five percent effort,
he said through an interpreter. He plans to hit again today.

(25:25):
And he talked about the setback that he had in Florida,
and he said he woke up on the day he
was supposed to face pitching his hand was so swollen
he couldn't even grip the bat.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Al. I want to know, how do you swing sixty
to sixty five percent? Explain that one to me, because
I didn't know there was like a sixty percent swing
or a seventy percent swing. I just knew one swing.
So maybe that's why he's way better than I ever was.
But yeah, this sucks for the Astros. Astros are bang up,
but they still figure out a way to do it.
They still figure out a way to win games. They
still figure out how to pitch. I don't know. I

(25:56):
mean I want to. I want you on on back
because he's great to watch. But yeah, just seemed to
keep on winning no matter who's out there. So we'll see.
But yeah, he's got to get back. The misdiagnosis thing
was bad at the beginning, but they figured it out
now hopefully, and he can figure out how way to
get him back on the field.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
They draft, well, Bryce Matthews comes up. Yesterday, he was
the star of the show. They took down the Diamondbacks.
Matthew's taking Zach Gallen deep. He had two home runs yesterday.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
That's what they do. That's what they do. It's kind
of like, remember back back in the day when the
Cardinals would bring up these guys that really nobody had
ever heard of, and John Jay's and Descalso's and all
these guys. They would just fill their role perfectly and
do exactly what the Cardinals needed. It seems like what
the what the Astros do Now? They just find these
guys and they're like, oh, no one's ever heard of

(26:41):
Hunter Brown. Really, I mean, I know, you know, he's
a bad example, probably, but look at him now, you know,
It's like, Wow, Framber Valdas signed for ten grand He's
one of the best pitchers in baseball for the last five, six,
seven years, right, So it's just what the Astros do.
Dana Brown does the job. He was a scout. Let's
not get Dana Brown was a scout.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
He was a damn good scout for the Braves for
a while. That's the thing with the Astros. They deal
with as many injuries as anyone else, half the rotation,
half the lineup, and yet they're still here. So it
actually makes some of the other teams look bad when
they start pointing to who's out. All right, aj Tanner
Scott goes down with an injury for a Dodgers' bullpen
that they spent a lot of money on, and they're

(27:18):
probably going to have to spend more in money and
assets at the deadline. Here good news for la yesterday,
Oh Tani looked pretty damn good. I mean he hadn't
I think had a hit in the first inning since
he had been pitching for the last four or five starts.
When he came back, figured that part out hit a
two run danger, a blast to center field. Pitched pretty

(27:39):
well after he got his I watched the start, he
got his sweeper was like a crappy slider for maybe
ten to fifteen to twenty pitches and that's where the
Buckston home run came and in the leadoff spot. But
then he figured that part out too. But anyway, Tanner
Scott going down, I guess could be an il situation,

(27:59):
felt a sting in his forearm. He's getting an MRI today.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
What do we say about forearms? What if farms lead
to a lot of times Scott, they're the worst ones,
you know, they usually lead to the zipper, you know,
right to the elbow. Right. How many times have we
seen forearm tightness? And then two days later, in god forbid,
we don't want Tanner Scott because I think he's already
had at least one timing John, We don't we you know,
we don't want to hear. Anytime you hear forearm tightness,

(28:24):
that usually and then the next step is we're gonna
look at the elbow and it's usually not good news.
So let's hope he's okay. But I mean, they won
last night, but I mean it wasn't they didn't win it.
I mean, if you saw the last swing of the
game by Korea, they caught the ball. Like in Kirby
h was like, whoo, we won, Like I can't believe
we won. It's it's been a struggle for the Dodgers.

(28:45):
We talked about the Tigers. The Dodgers are exactive and
killing everybody either.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Hey, did you guys see this exchange over the weekends
with Justin Berlander? I believe it was from Sunday whenever
Verlander pitched a couple days ago, Chad Witson took a
little shot. The quote that was caught on camera. I was,
how about you worry about getting out of the third inning?

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (29:14):
So, Kevin, do you think that's a lack of respect
for a legendary pitcher or do you think it's someone
who is going, Hey, I'm gonna bite back. If you're
gonna talk shit to me, I'm gonna go back at you.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
I think Verlander's credential speak for themself. I thought it
was kind of awesome because at the end of the day,
as much as me and AJ might not like umpires,
you have to respect that they're human beings and they
can only take so much. And he saw his opportunity
he took a shot. I got a laugh out of it.
I'm sure maybe Verlander didn't get a laugh out of it,

(29:46):
but like I said, his credential speak for himself, and
I can tell you this happens more than you think.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
It's just not always caught on camera.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
I mean, it's an awesome flex by the umpire. I
think Verlander liked it very much, but I mean he remember,
he remembers, so he got ejected. He pitched on Friday,
and the umpire held onto this until Sunday that he
got ejected. So Whitson was sitting there going, man, if
Verlander pops off, he had a good memory because he's like,

(30:18):
try to get out of the third inning next time.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
Me.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
I mean, that's a big flex on a Hall of
Fame guy. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
I thought it was great, but I mean I'm sure
I'm sure you've heard a lot worse behind the plane.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Of course, trust me, umpires listen. Umpires know how to
hippolow the belt. Sometimes I took my shots at umpires,
but they also knew sometimes like oh, you're hitting one
eighty right now, it's it's may no wonder you want
to get ejected. You don't know the strike zone anyway.
I mean, trust me, there's a lot of things that
were said. Yeah on camera.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
Yeah, to your point, I think he found a moment
to take his shot because there's not a lot of
shots you could take at Verlander in his career, and
he hit it. I thought it was funny. You know,
maybe Verlander thought it was funny too, but maybe didn't.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
And we got a scorecard on our way out here
to get back from break, here's wits and called strike
accuracy was not great. Aj his buffer zone was extensive.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Hey, he was trying to get those guys out of
the third inning.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
So good time for a quickie break. Todd Father and
I are gonna tell you about Huel, but it's mostly
gonna be Todd Father because I'm gonna take a sip.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
Well, we're talking about Huel, twenty seven vitamins and minerals.
It's a complete meal. Let's listen. We all have busy
schedules of Scott's sipping it down. It looks delicious, it
tastes delicious. When we're on the run, we need something
to eat quick. And guess what hwel is There all
different flavors. Scottie loves them. I love them and I
love how variety packed it is and we can eat
them anytime of the day.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
That's right. Yeah, check out the website. There's bars. There
are so many different flavors. I love the black addition, chocolate,
thirty five grams of protein, strawberry shortcake, coffee, caramel, cookies
and cream. I can go on and on and you

Hit a couple stats. Here's one that we can look at,
and then I've got a verbal mentioned from a topic
earlier on the show. But opponents have a misrate of

(32:34):
fifty percent on pitches and the strike zone against Devin Williams.
Over the last couple of weeks, we haven't talked about
as much AJ And usually when you don't talk much
about a closer, that means he's doing his job. Because
he was a very, very high subject of attention in
the first month of the year for the Yanks while
he was getting acclimated.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
He's cleaned it up a lot. He's been throwing them
all really well. So I don't know that you want
to face him right now. O KP. You probably faced
Did you face him? You had to face him a
few times.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
He's also one of those righties where you're like, okay,
looking on the bench, there's got to be a left
handed bat available, come on, But yeah, I mean, it's
it's it's one of those pitches. That's how you know
you're one of the best pitchers in baseball when you
have a pitch that everyone knows you're gonna throw and
you just still can't hit it. I mean, everyone goes
up and sits on the change up. And what makes
him even more difficult is he still throws in the

(33:24):
upper nineties. But his pitch is the change up. You
sit up there, wait for it. It moves like.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
A left handed slider and no one can hit it.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
But you know, obviously, first time getting traded, as someone
that's been traded, you know a couple of times, played
in a bunch of different organizations, it.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Can be tough.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
Probably a lot easier getting traded in the offseason, having
spring training to get acclimated with the new team, new teammates.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
But it's it's.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Different, and he got off to a slow start. I mean,
he's human, he's a human being. He didn't pitch well
in the beginning of the year, but he's back and form.
And thankfully because Luke Weaver was the guy last year
that was called on to get you know, up to
nine outs you know, in the playoffs, and he's not
having as good of a year. So having Devin Williams

(34:08):
in the back end is invaluable for them.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Yeah, huge pickup in the offseason for the Yanks. The
other stat I want to throw out their quick opponents
are one ninety nine batting average against for Showdown Monaga
going through the second time in a game through the
second time against the lineup, ninth best in baseball among starters.
So there you go, playing to what we were talking
about at the top of the show. If you want
to scroll back later on and see what we're talking about. Also,

(34:31):
Inside Edge recently created a Google Chrome extension called player
Intel that gives fantasy players and fans a closer look
at the key matchup data each day. They can do
it right inside of the platforms they play in, like
like Yahoo and ESPN and other spots. So go check
that out. There is inside Edge Player Intel. It's brand

(34:52):
spanking new and they help us out with these stats.
Hot Corner Time Fresh article in The Athletic on Jim
Boden's Intel around the league talking to thirty teams, finding
out who's buying, who's selling, and who's maybe a little
bit of both. Things are fluid aja and changing. But
there's only a week to go, and for some of
these teams, they're not going to figure out that much.

(35:15):
Right If you have seven games, say between now and
the trade deadline, and you go four and three or
three and four, did you really learn that much? And
are you banking your entire season on those seven or
eight games. Let's show the board, though, and then we
can pick out some teams that we feel good about
or some teams that we think should go in a
different direction. The buyers list here and I'll read this

(35:37):
out for the podcast crowd too. Detroit, Philly, Houston, Chicago, Mets, Reds, Brewers, Yanks,
Red Sox, Dodgers, Padres, Giants, Blue Jays, Mariners, Sellers, Miami,
the White Sox, Oriols, Rockies, Braves, Pirates, Athletics. NAT's nothing
surprising there, and then possibly both Aja the Rays, the Guardians,

(35:58):
the Cardinals, the Twins, the Rangers, the Royals, the Diamondbacks
and the Angels.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Yeah, I mean the sellers are pretty obvious, aren't they. Yes,
The ones to me are they're intriguing are the buyers
and sellers, possibly because like the Rays do a really
good job of this of trying to thread the needle
where they'll trade somebody, but they'll get somebody back that
might not be as big of a name, but it
fits the role that they need, right. Diamondbacks are the
ones that, like they're they going to try and get
rid of Gallon to bring back some other pieces, even Texas, Right,

(36:30):
it wasn't that long ago, you know what I'm saying.
So I don't know. I think it's it's an interesting
you know. The Angels again, we talked to Jodell. What
are they Cleveland, Minnesota. They seem more like the seller
type to me, case is in a weird spot because
they made the playoffs last year. The sellers are pretty obvious.
The buyers are pretty obvious to me. The intriguing teams
obviously are possibly both because we just don't know what's

(36:50):
gonna happen. That's why this trade deadline is gonna be
fascinating because there's not as many sellers with high quality
products as in the past.

Speaker 4 (36:58):
Yeah, the one team that I'm looking at that I'm
interested in is Cincinnati. Is there on the buyer's list
and with the recent success that Milwaukee's had. Obviously, Ajau
talked about how good the Cubs have looked and are playing.
Cincinnati is the third best team in that division. Are
they a top six team in the National League? I

(37:20):
know they're you know, maybe three or four games out
of a wildcard spot, But is that a team who's
can kind of switch to a seller maybe a buyer
and a seller depending on how this next week goes.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
But it's always hard.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
I still kind of view things from a player's perspective.
You know, you you you played a ton of games
up until this point, and you kind of feel like
your team's destiny is you know, based on this next week.
You know there's you can go oh and six in
April and you know it's talked about and you just

(37:55):
continue to play the games. But if you go in
oh and six. You know, this could be your the
difference in your team buying and selling, you losing teammates, friends,
you getting traded. So it's interesting that I've never kind
of viewed it from a GM perspective of how you
kind of view this last week leading up into the
trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
And this has to do with percentages. Most front offices
have a percentage of what they think a playoff appearance
looks like for them at the moment, and that's what
they play too. They look at the standings and then
they also look at projected totals for the rest of
the year. I've heard GMS on the record in the
past couple weeks mentioned stuff like that the Reds are

(38:39):
three and a half games away from a playoff spot
right now, matched with San Francisco and with the Cardinals,
right but they have the Cardinals as on the fence
kind of team where San Francisco and Cincinnati are three
and a half out in a different spot. I think
part of that, Kevin, has to do with where those
teams are in the bigger picture. The Cardinals came into

(39:01):
the year doing nothing and just riding the youth getting
more playing time, and this being an adjustment period. They
I think themselves probably didn't think they were going to
be in this spot close enough to be in playoff range.
They haven't played as well lately. San Francisco bought, I
mean they bought in the off season. They bought it
the when Raphael Devers was available. And for Cincinnati, I

(39:25):
think they're buying into the starting staff they have. They
have some great swing and miss there. There's probably one
or two prospects because they keep drafting pitchers high up,
probably one or two prospects that could make appearances in
the second half of the year and be a big deal.
I mean, we've seen Chase Burns already pop up for them.
Hunter Green should be back soon, I think. So maybe
they're looking at their staff thinking, hey, our best might

(39:48):
be yet to come, and our percentage chance is higher
than some of the other teams in a similar spot.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
I mean, they definitely have with Hunter Green and the
emergence of Chase Burns and Dolo Like, that's a team
that if you can sneak into the playoffs in a
three game series, that's an incredibly difficult UH starting staff
to face. So then you got a guy like Nick
Martinez that you know could start coming the bullpen, but Cincinnati,
like you said, they do have some guys coming up,

(40:17):
you know that could fill some spots. But Cincinnati seems
like the perfect team that should kind of be in
the middle goodbye and could sell, you know, sell from
some areas of strength to add to some areas of weakness.
Knowing that they have some guys coming up. But interesting team.
You know, you can never count a team with you know,
their skip leading the way. They got a lot of
young talent. It's I remember going there a couple of

(40:40):
years ago, middle of summer when I was with the Braves,
and it was kind of the emergence of a lot
of their young guys and the place was sold out.
And I remember watching on TV when they're in the
playoffs too that it's such a great baseball place and
it's a team that I'd love to see get in
the postseason because I know how important baseball is to
that city and they have such They just have a

(41:01):
lot of young talent and they're a fun team to watch. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Bowden mentioned that the Reds are looking for an outfielder,
they want some more offense, and then they're looking for
some bullpen help. As is every team that's in the running.
And he mentioned nowt Nick Crawls trying to push chips
in right now, who's the GM of the team we know?
AJ Terry Francona is in win now mode. I mean

(41:26):
he came back to try and lead a playoff contender here.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
Yeah, he's not coming back to rebuild. And the Reds
are in right, The Reds are going for it. The Giants,
you mentioned Giants, Giants gotta go for it. They already
threw all their chips in the devast trade. I mean,
let's not kid ourselves either. The Devastrade and some of
the signings they made Verlanders, those signings they made, those
were to win now. Buster Posey's not gonna want to
go through rebuild. He was brought in to help the

(41:50):
Giants try to win now. So those teams to me,
are going for they have to. But now what do
they have and what can they get? Because this is
a seller's market. So I don't know this Every trip
day line is fascinating, but I just want to know
what are the names that no one's talked about that
all of a sudden is bam.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
Yeah. My thing is that if the Diamondbacks play well
enough over the next week is going to make this
market challenging. There are just not a lot of teams
with good players that you can see making a major
impact in the playoffs that are going to be available
right now. I mean, we've gone through this, Kevin. But

(42:28):
the White Sox don't have much to offer. The Rockies
don't have much to offer. Marlins have a little bit.
If they're going to deal away Sandi al Contra or
Edward Cabrera, sure that can be an impact starter in
the playoffs, and maybe they take advantage of a market
like this and say, hey, there's not much available like
what we have. I think Pittsburgh's going to trade Mitch Keller.

(42:50):
I've actually been going back and forth with some commenters
on YouTube that think he's got too many years left
of team control. I'm like, I don't think that matters.
They're going to look at where he's at right now
and how there aren't starters like him available or not
many of them. I mean, he could be a number
three starter on a playoff team for me when I'm
making a trade right or if I was making a
trade at the deadline. Kevin, you're going to give up

(43:12):
some significant prospect talent if it's someone that you think
can start in October for you.

Speaker 3 (43:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (43:19):
I mean I think back to maybe my real first
experience of you know, when I was in Toronto in
twenty fifteen. We went out and made a bunch of
big trades. You know, we acquired David Price and we
gave up our two two best left handed pitching prospects
and Daniel Norris and Matthew Boyd. And it was like

(43:40):
the craziest thing I'd ever seen. But you brought in
David Price, and you know, that's a guy who's going
to start game one or two for you in the playoffs.
It's the price of doing business. It's the price of
you know, putting yourself in a position to try.

Speaker 3 (43:53):
And go win the whole thing.

Speaker 4 (43:54):
And unfortunately for us, it didn't work. But you know,
it wasn't from a lack of effort from the front
office putting all their chips in.

Speaker 1 (44:01):
It didn't work to win a World Series, but it
worked to ignite that city, and I think it kind
of changed the complexion of the franchise the way that
they went for it. I remember, you know, back then,
covering all of that so was that your rookie year.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
It would have been my It would have been my
first full season. I started opening Day. But kind of
like to AJ's point, you know earlier X Y and Z,
you never know what you're going to get x Y
and Z. I mean, when you know you're getting a
David Price or a Troy Tulowitzki, you got to go
for it, and sometimes you know, years later the trade
ends up looking terrible. You know, you think about a

(44:37):
James Shield for a Fernando Tatis, but at the time,
Fernando Tatis Junior was just an X Y and Z.
And you know, we talk about those couple instances where
you traded a player like James Shield for Frnando Tatis,
but there's a million others where you know, you end
up getting the better end of the player who's a
proven commodity, and these prospects never really make it. So,

(44:57):
I mean it's a hard balance for any GM. But
but you know, as a player, from a player's perspective,
when you when you put yourself and your team in
that situation to you know, have the GM, you know,
go out and and try to acquire players, it's definitely
that shot in the arm you need this time of
year where you know you're entering August and you've been
at it for five six months, and you know, things

(45:20):
started to get repetitive and tired, and you know, the.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
Dog days of August kick in.

Speaker 4 (45:24):
But you wake up in the morning and you're you
look at text messages and you look at, you know,
things on Twitter that Blue Jays just acquired Troy Tulowitzki
and David Price. You're never more excited to go to
the field.

Speaker 1 (45:37):
Kevin, do you remember the year before what the Blue
Jays did that?

Speaker 6 (45:40):
Well?

Speaker 3 (45:41):
Well I do, yeah.

Speaker 4 (45:41):
I mean I was kind of a player who was
up and down in twenty fourteen and we were maybe
a game or two, you know, out of a wildcard spot,
and this was pre expanded playoffs. I wonder how different
it would have been if, you know, more teams got in.
But we didn't do anything we sell or trade, and
we kind of just phisited off the rest of that year.

(46:03):
And you know, talking to Alex a couple of years later,
he learned a lot from that, just kind of from
the morale standpoint of, you know, he didn't do his
job to kind of, you know, push us over the
edge and push us towards the finish line, and you know,
we did a complete one eighty the next year, and
you know, I keep talking about David Price and Troy
tu Lwitski. We also went out inquired La, Troy Hawkins,

(46:25):
Mark Low, Ben Revere. Like it was a full overhaul
of our roster, and it energized the entire team. It
energized that city. And you know, ultimately we didn't win
the Ultimate prize, but it was a hell of a run.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Yeah, Bautista ripped him at the deadline because you guys
were in the running. And and Thopolis spoke after about
it years later and how he learned a ton from
that time period and how you know, he felt like
he let the team down that one year, and he
was like, I was going to make up for it
the next year. And I would say, David Price and
Troy Tilwiski as your ads, that certainly makes up for it.

Speaker 4 (47:00):
So the problem is, that's why I was interested asking
Ken about the Braves because I feel like, you know,
ever since twenty fifteen, you know, when he pushed all
the chips in, you know, that's all he's ever done
is win, And now they're in a position where they're
underachieving to say the least. You know, what does he do?
You know, does he have that other kind of mode

(47:20):
where he can you know, sell off some pieces. You know,
he's been all go for the last you know, eight
or nine years, just acquiring talent and acquiring and trying
to improve his team. Does does he have it in
him to you know, throw in the white flag and
kind of try to rebuild the farm system.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
It sounds like he doesn't want to rock the boat
much and most of these players are under control for
a long period of time, So it sounds like marcel
A Zuna Ryce el Iglesias I think will be moved.
I know his ra is not great, but most of
the rest of the numbers for him and the stuff
for playing out the same way. So maybe he moves
on to another team and has a big final couple
months of the season. Let's start with the Phillies walk

(48:04):
off win thanks to catchers interference, said Mundo Sosa, pulls
it off. Heads are shaking, yes, Aj.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
These are happening a lot more and more and more
and more and more and a more. I mean the
base of reloaded with no out so they're probably gonna
score anyways, but just it was the first time in
fifty four years or something a game that ended like this.
I don't know, it's a weird it's a weird thing.
It's and then they had to review it, which was
even stranger. So it's like, oh, he said it and

(48:34):
they didn't want to call it, and then they reviewed
it and they found it. So I mean, good win
for the for the old Phillies.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
I feel like Pheel, you should have to take a
full swing for it to be interference. I don't know
Catcher's perspective if it's any difference a guy taking a
full swing or you know, trying to lay off a pitch.
But probably not the most exciting way to end a
game for the people in the stadium. Obviously everyone's going
home because the Phillies won and they were the home team.

(49:02):
But at least, you know, you're kind of witnessing something
that doesn't happen every day.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Like you say, it's been.

Speaker 4 (49:08):
Fifty years, so maybe a story to talk to your
kids about on the way home from the game or
your buddies.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
Even longer than fifty years, like fifty five ish. And
I think this was the only other time it happened.
It was Dodgers beating the Reds August first, nineteen seventy one,
and Jason Stark, who lives for this stuff, tweeted about
how it was one of the strangest innings you'll see.
He said, zombie runner, four, pitchwalk, wild, pitch, intentional walk,

(49:38):
walk off, catcher interference. I just want to throw this
out there. We mentioned Gino Suarez's name, AJ The run
that he's gone on right now with thirty six home
runs is insane. I just want to make sure we
give him enough credit. It's not like we're going to
do a ten minute segment on him. But ten home
runs in his last fifteen games, five in his last three,
seven in his last six. I mean he's picked up

(49:59):
right where he left off in the first half.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
When he's hot, he's hot. I mean, when he's hot,
he's one of the best. You know, he can go
through a slump, as we all know, you know where
he goes a couple of weeks without hitting a homer,
but then those two weeks that he makes up for it,
he hits like fifteen homers. So this is why he's
so valuable. Plus his defense is pretty good. He hits homers.
I mean, he fits in perfect with the Yankees, but
he also fits in perfect with the Brewers, and he

(50:23):
fits in perfect with some other teams. So the bidding
war on Geno Suarez is going to be one to watch.

Speaker 1 (50:29):
Yeah, it looks like the Cobs would be interested to
maybe not getting enough offense from the rookie match Shaw.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Yet he's doing better. He's doing better.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
Yeah, he's doing better. He's doing better. But Kevin Gino
Suarez is on pace for the deserves the eight homers.

Speaker 4 (50:42):
I mean not even this year, but the guy's got
over three hundred career home runs. I mean, he's one
of the sneakiest best power hitters during my time during
my playing career, and I remember coming up in the
minor leagues playing against him. You know, he was kind
of just like a utility infielder for the Tigers, and
he turned himself into a legitimate power hitter and probably

(51:04):
the best player to be traded at the deadline.

Speaker 1 (51:07):
Yep, let's hit it, let's slap and there's your chat.
BCC logo and giveaway winner is Mitch. Mitch is the

(51:30):
user name good job on trivia and we did a
little randomized drawing out of the top ten scores. Mitch,
you win a jersey on MLB shot up to four
and dreda Bucks it's the jersey of your choice. Congratulations
at m I C H on chat bcc AJ gave
the shout out this morning foul Territory dot chat. We'll

(51:51):
do one more this week, and if you have questions
for us about the trade deadline, that is the spot
reply to one of our posts on there. Let's finish
with this fan going for the Jack Kagle on baseball.
I'm sure you liked this one.

Speaker 4 (52:05):
AJ.

Speaker 1 (52:06):
Did you get to see this?

Speaker 3 (52:08):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (52:09):
Did?

Speaker 2 (52:09):
And the Royals beat the Cubs. It was a glorious
steak CAGs and this guy did you? I don't know.
We got to show this because it's one of the
funniest things I've ever seen. And then when they took
his legs and made the sea for the Cubs, it
was perfect. But CAGs goes deep by the way. Wind
must have been blown out and this guy, yeah, what
are we doing?

Speaker 1 (52:29):
Yeah, no one was hurt. That's why they have the basket. Kevin,
you know about it.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
I was going to say, is that the reason for
the basket.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
It is, believe or hey, it's.

Speaker 4 (52:40):
A great feeling when you hit a ball just right
into that basket because it's not going out anywhere else
obviously a much smaller field, and you know, the basket
actually hangs over the fence. I've I've hit one in
there before and been very thankful for the basket. But
I don't know the reason they have it except for,
you know, keeping this fan off the field and making
a see.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
No, that's exactly why they built it. Whenever they built
the basket was because fans were falling on the field,
and so they legit put that up there to keep
the fans from falling on the field. Because but that
Cubs thing, if someone doesn't make a shirt out of that,
they've missed an opportunity. Whether you would like the cub
If it's for.

Speaker 4 (53:19):
The amount of beers drinking out there, I get, I
get the basket.

Speaker 1 (53:23):
Yep, exactly. Let's keep the fans safe. More baskets, please,
and more moments like this. I'm sure there are merch
shops all over Chicago doing their best quick work to
put that together, to try and make that logo a
T shirt.

Speaker 2 (53:37):
And next time he goes to the club. Can't can
wear that shirt next time he goes to the club.

Speaker 1 (53:42):
He should. I agree, he should. He needs more tire, Yeah,
it would, it would. If you don't know what we're
talking about. Look earlier in the show and uh Dodger's
territory is tonight postgame show from Milana and Clint. So
after Otanian company try and get themselves on track, which
they did yesterday, but keep themselves on track against the Twins,

(54:04):
then you can hear from them. We'll talk about the
Twins more tomorrow. Rumors circulating that they'll start to listen
on some people that team has not lived up to expectations,
although I didn't think they were going to be good,
so maybe for some people it did live up to expectations.
With our last thirty seconds, here a shout out to
one of our co founders, our executive producer CEO behind

(54:27):
the scenes, Mark Wiener, turning twenty one today, Happy birthday.
It's so nice that Bruce Springsteen wrote a song for you, Mark.
Enjoy it and aj great stuff from KP today.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Huh, it was awesome. By the way, did Mark take
the day offer his birthday to speak?

Speaker 1 (54:45):
I think he's watching right now.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
Good job KP.

Speaker 3 (54:49):
Thank you guys. It's a pleasure. Can't wait to do
it again.
