One-Act Play Collections - Book 13, Part 2

Title: One-Act Play Collections - Volume 13

Overview: Here, in our 13th collection, are 10 One-Act Plays for your enjoyment. They range from tales of ancient Greek sailors to a story about early 1900 moonshiners; many short gems to make you laugh, cry, think, or all three. A one-act play is a play that has only one act and is distinct from plays that occur over several acts. One-act plays may consist of one or more scenes. The 20-40 minute play has emerged as a popular subgenre of the one-act play, especially in writing competitions. One-act plays make up the overwhelming majority of Fringe Festival shows including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The origin of the one-act play may be traced to the very beginning of recorded Western drama: in ancient Greece, Cyclops, a satyr play by Euripides, is an early example. The satyr play was a farcical short work that came after a trilogy of multi-act serious drama plays. A few notable examples of one-act plays emerged before the 19th century including various versions of the Everyman play and works by Moliere and Calderon. One act plays became more common in the 19th century and is now a standard part of repertory theatre and fringe festivals.

(01:22:41):
and moistening. Well, my upturned punch with
deep drafts through it. Of a milk.

No grief at all. This is the king of Gods for
your wise, man. But lawgivers go.
Hang checkering as They do the life of man.

(01:23:50):
And so I will not cease from indulging Myself by devouring
thee and thou shalt receive thisstrangest.
Gift that I may be free of blamefire, and my father's element

But a thing of not follows the Cyclops reluctantly oppa.
Why the portal of I gaping throat?

Keep that boat for thyself aloneof on this cave offering which
the Godless Cyclops offers on edges, Alters, exulting in meals
on Strangers, flesh. Oh, ruthless monster to

(01:25:38):
sacrifice his guests at his own Hearth.
The suppliant of his whole cleaning and tearing and Irving.
Up to low some teeth of a feast of human flesh.
Hot from the coals Odysseys, reappearing, with a look of
horror. How is Hughes, what can I say
after the Hideous sites? I've seen inside the cave.

(01:25:59):
Things past belief resembling more the Tails men.
Tell the naught they do what news Odysseus has a cyclops.
Most Godless monster and feasting on by dear comrades,
Hi. He singled out a pair on whom
the flesh was fattest and in best condition and took them up

(01:26:20):
in his hand to way. How when did with you then for a
rush when we had entered Yonder.Rocky Abode he lighted.
First a fire throwing logs of towering Oak upon his spacious
Hearth enough for three wagons to carry as their load next
close by the Blazing flame. He placed his couch of pine,

(01:26:41):
boughs laid upon the floor and filled Bowl of some 10 Firkins
pouring white milk there into after he had milked his kind and
by his side he put a can of IV wood, whose breath was three
cubits and its depth for maybe next he set Upon A Brazen
Potter, boiling on the fire spits to, he sat beside him

(01:27:04):
fashioned of the branches of thorn their points.
Hardened in the fire and the rest of them trimmed with the
hatchet and a blood bowls of Aetna, for the axes out.
Age. Now when the hell cook God
detested at everything. Quite ready?
He caught up a pair of my companions and proceeded
deliberately to cut the throat of one of them over the yawning

(01:27:26):
Brazen pot but the other he clutched by the tendon of his
heel and striking him against a sharp point of Rocky Stone,
dashed out his brains, then after hacking the fleshy Parts,
with Glutton Cleaver, he's set to grilling them.
But the limbs he threw into His cauldron to cease.
And I poor wretch Drew near withstreaming eyes and waited on the

(01:27:50):
Cyclops. But the others kept carrying
like frightened birds in crannies of The Rock and the
blood, forsook their skin. And on when he had gorged
himself upon my comrades, flesh and had fallen on his back
Breathing heavily, there came a sudden inspiration to me.
I filled a cup of this moroney and wine and offered him a draft

(01:28:13):
saying Cyclops son of ocean scarred.
See here, what? Heavenly drink, The Grapes of
helles yield. Glad gift of Dionysus.
He glutted with his Shameless meal took and drained it at one
draft and lifting up his hand. He thanked me.
Thus dearest to me of all my guests Fair.

(01:28:34):
The drink thou. Give us me to Crown.
So, fair, a feast. Now, when I saw his Delight, I
gave him another cup. Knowing the wine would make him.
It and he would soon be paying the penalty.
Then he set to singing but I kept filling bumper after bumper
and heating him with drink. So there he is singing

(01:28:55):
discordantly amid, the Weeping of my fellow Sailors and the
cave Rico's, but I have made my way out quietly and would Fain
safety and myself. If thou Wilt tell me, then is it
your wish? Or is it not to fly from this
unsocial wretch. And take up your Abode with
nayad nymphs in the halls of theback.

(01:29:17):
God my father within a proves this scheme but there he is
powerless, getting all he can out of his liquor.
His wings are snared by the cup as if he had flown against
birdlime and he is fuddled, but Thou Art, young and Lusty.
So, save thyself with my help and regained, I old friend

(01:29:38):
Dionysus. So little like the Cyclops Best
of friends, would we might see that days escaping the god, the
Cyclops Fort is long, we have been without the joys of men,
unable to escape him here. Then how I will requite this
file monster and rescue you fromthraldom.

(01:29:59):
Tell me how no note of Asiatic liar.
Delighted with this liquor of the back chick God, he Fain
would go a reviling with his Brethren.
I understand my purpose is to seize and say give me or not at

subtlety. What do then truly we have long
heard of like loudness. I mean to keep him from this
Revel saying he must not give this drink to his Brethren but
keep it for himself alone. Loan and lead a happy life.
Then when he falls asleep or Mastered by the back, God I will

(01:30:46):
put a point with the sword of mine to an olive branch.
I saw lying in the cave and we'll set it on fire when I see
it. Well alight, I will lift the
heated brand and thrusting it full in the Cyclops.
I melt out his site with its blaze it has when a man in
fitting the Timbers of a ship makes his August spin to and fro

(01:31:07):
with a double strap. So will I make the brand revolve
in the eye that gives the cyclops light and will Scorch up
the pupil there of? Oh how glad I feel wild with joy
at the contrivance that done, I will Embark the, and those thou
lovest withhold Salinas in the Deep, hold of my black ship, my

(01:31:31):
ship with double Banks of oars and carry you away from this
land. Well, can I lay hold of?
The blinding brand as though theGods like Nation had been poured
for, I would Fain have a share in this offering of blood and
teeth. I must for the brand is large
and I must help hold it. How lightly, where I live the

(01:31:54):

the eye of the Doom Cyclops, like wasps nest, hush for now,
thou knowest. My plot in full.
And when I beat you about the author of it for, I'm not the
man to die. Desert my friends inside the
cave and save myself alone. And yet I might Escape, I'm

(01:32:15):
clear of the cavern steps already, but no to dessert, the
friends with whom. I journeyed hither and only
saved myself is not a righteous course.
Re-enters de Cave, come who willbe the first and who the next to
