Speaker 1 (00:00):
Focusing on the goals
that you have set, focusing on
the things that you do best, focusing on your clientele.
If you mind your business, yourbusiness will mind you.
Hey, what's good, y'all?
So, leading up to next Monday, the 9th, for my challenge, I
(00:26):
plan on going live once a day,at least.
Chances are, you know, justwith whatever, or live or
live-ish, you know there waysaround going live and all that
type of stuff.
But today I wanted to talkabout minding your business
right and not in the way peoplethink.
You know what I'm saying.
Some people are like, oh car, you're trying to talk about it
all.
No, so first of all I'm goingto give y'all the whole,
(00:50):
especially in business.
Let me give y'all the wholerundown, just kind of how I live
my life right.
So most people know and theythink it's real odd about me
that I don't really be knowingstuff like this is going on in
the world.
You know I used to pay heavyattention to politics because,
duh, I was in politics and allthat stuff.
But you know, so I'll pay heavyattention to that and it would
(01:14):
kind of, you know, I would getinvolved in all these debates
and, you know, back and forthpolemical and people getting all
mad and upset and all that, andI'd look and be like, why am I
doing this, why am I worriedabout it?
And then you know like I wasthinking about you know how,
when it.
You know like now there's ahuge and it's been like about a
(01:38):
decade or whatever a huge likedesire or just the trend of
being involved in, likecelebrity socialize.
And I don't even know aboutthat Like.
For instance, I don't know ify'all saw what's that joint call
?
What's the matter with that?
I mean, I was in the stallionand Tory Lane so I heard about
it one time on the podcast.
(01:58):
I was asked a question about itand my response was a I don't
believe nobody.
Until I see all the facts, Isay I'll let it play out in
court because I don't need oneof them.
And so you know it came back.
The verdict was guilty.
That's what man guilty.
He go to jail, he get a pill.
All of this stuff.
I really wasn't about to payenough attention to the case To
(02:21):
for it to really affect me orfor me to have a huge opinion
about it.
Even like with people that Iknow, when stuff go down, gossip
and all that I don't really getinvolved in it because I be
focused on what I'm focused on,and so you know that's kind of
how I, how I live my life from apersonal level.
Now I'm gonna talk aboutbusiness, and when I say you
(02:41):
know the benefits of mindingyour business, I'm not saying
the benefits of you know, youknow avoiding gossip we all know
that there's a bit, there's abenefit to that or the benefits
of you know Not being snoopy ornosy, your back bite and all
that kind of stuff.
We know the benefits of thosethings.
That goes beyond that, but I'mgonna talk about, like, minding
your business.
Business right, meaning thatdon't let what others are doing
(03:06):
in business Drive what you do.
It's good to know what's goingon in the industry, but you know
, don't be jealous of like.
You know I could easily bejealous of my like Jeff Bezos.
Or you know even people who arein my, in my realm, like you
know, the the mark humans in theworld.
You know my goal is to be darkCuban, right, but I'm okay
(03:27):
whatever.
But you know like I want to belike.
You know you know one of theone of the sharks.
You know, like Marcus Lamonis, you know who goes around and
helps build businesses, but Ican't even focus on what they do
all the time Because for mybusiness, you know, I have to
focus on my clientele.
We have a whole differentclientele, whole different
presentation.
Those are all the white guys.
(03:48):
I'm a halfway old black dudewith locks.
So I have to mind my businessand you know, of course, there's
a shameless plug involved inthis.
One of the ways to mind yourbusiness is to plan for it right
.
And thank you to everybody whopurchased my book, this seven
day business plan bestseller onAmazon, available on Amazoncom.
Go to seven day businessplancom, pick up your old copy.
(04:10):
But thank you to everybody whogot it.
But all that being said, shameless plug.
But all that being said, whenyou have a plan for your own
business, it's a lot easier tomind it right.
Otherwise, we become reactive or, you know, we can get
discouraged when things don'twork.
We discourage when things don'tgo our way and all that type of
stuff.
Um so, and that's why I say youknow, mind your business not in
(04:34):
a negative way, not in ajudgmental way, not in a, you
know, saying you don't need tobe all up in a few stuff like
that's neither here nor there.
There, the primary focus of mesaying mind your business is
really pay attention to yourbusiness and what's going on
around it, what's going on inyour industry, what's going on
in what you do and I see my theinternet, so I can a little
(04:56):
wonky, so I'm gonna say thatagain.
When I say mind your business,I'm primarily speaking about
focusing on the goals that youhave set, focusing on the things
that you do best, focusing onyour clientele.
Mind your business.
I was on a podcast yesterdaywith my man, rod Rodney Hughes
(05:16):
you know, thanks for having meon and one of he did a wonderful
analogy, you know, so if I'musing it, I got to give him the
credit.
He said you walk down the breadaisle and you see 20 different
you know loads of bread, atleast 20 different loads of
bread that you get to choosefrom.
Do you think any one of themsaid that because these other
(05:37):
brands are in business, that Ican't be in business?
No, they minded their ownbusiness.
They set their own goals, theygot their own marketing.
You know, their own pricing, their own sources, all of those
things.
And so when I say mind yourbusiness is, keep your mind on
your business and how you can besuccessful in it, because
(05:57):
otherwise we can easily getdiscouraged.
You know, I mean, I rememberthere was a time when I was
doing this and I was goingthrough and you know, all of a
sudden the people popping up allthe time doing what I like,
dang man.
You know like, ah, do I need todo it like this, do I need to
do like that?
Do I need to switch it up?
No, do what works for you, dowhat works for your clientele,
because that's who reallymatters.
(06:18):
You know, I'm not doing what Ido to impress other people who
are in my field.
I'm doing it in order toimpress my clients so that
they'll be happy with theresults that they get.
I'm doing it to impress you.
Who's watching me?
Who may want to start theirbusiness, who may want to be a
part of my free New YearChallenge?
That's what I mean by.
(06:39):
I mind my business and I wouldencourage everybody.
Do yourself a favor, especiallythose of you who are
entrepreneurs, and don't letwhat other people do or how
their businesses are goingaffect your business.
You know you can look at itlike they're your competition.
You do want to know yourcompetition, don't get me wrong,
(06:59):
but don't let what other peopledo drive you.
The great John Wooten, you knowand everybody knows he was a
coach at UCLA.
He told his team and not everycoach does this but his team
went undefeated.
They never prepared for theother team, they just played
their game.

(07:20):
thing.
