Speaker 1 (00:00):
More than anything, I like history and a perspective
that can make me and my clientsvery successful, that you don't
have to be on top to beinfluential.
Hey, what's good?
Y'all, I'm live and in livingcolor, and that color is blue

(00:21):
For the day.
As you can see, it's a wholelot of blue around here.
One of the stories my favoritecolor is black.
My second favorite color isblue.
My favorite color is actuallyblack, but I've been rockin'
blue for a minute and it's mylogo.
I really hey look, designshopcom Shout out to
Design.
Dad Shop SHOPPE Shout out toyour kids.
You did an excellent job with mysign in the background.
I know she's probably on backorder by now because people have

(00:44):
been really jumping in bysupport.
A local woman owned business.
She did my sign in the back, but anywho, what I wanted to
talk today about was threeauthors that have influenced my
business I'm not even gonna talkabout today.
So three authors reallyinfluenced my business.
Now, I'm not talking about mypersonal, like you know.
You know Autobiography, malcolmX, one of my favorite books of
all time, you know.

(01:04):
Then there's, you know, frankPeretti, who I enjoy on.
The only fictional writer I'llever read is Frank Peretti, for
the most part, I mean, eventhough I did also like what's
the name, what's the new name?
1984.
George Orwell, even though I'mnot quite sure if he's a fiction
because, man, if you lookaround today, hey, that's real
talk.
But three authors that reallyinfluenced my business, and most

(01:27):
of them I've been reading for avery long time.
One I actually just put myselfonto a couple of years ago
Actually, not a couple of yearsago, maybe last year, but yeah,
I'm gonna really just get intoit real quick because you know,
just again, I'm on my thing.
I gotta go live, I gotta putstuff out there continuously in
order to make sure that I'm that.

(01:49):
I'm gonna have a.
Anybody guess who y'all thinkit may be.
You know we put in the commentsif you think you can guess who
my favorite authors may or maynot be.
You know, outside of myself,I'm not even my favorite author,
but I only wrote one book.
So I picked up a John C Maxwellbook, probably back in 2007, or

(02:13):
yeah, I think, 2007, 2008, orsomething like that.
My first time I picked up 360degree leader and it really had
a gave me a really good mindsetchange.
To be honest with you, john CMaxwell is the four.
You cannot find anybody who'swritten anything better on
leadership besides Moses andJesus, you know saying, keep it
a whole book.

(02:33):
But he is the foremost leaderon authority on leadership.
And what he helped me to see wasthat you don't have to be on
top to be influential, you haveto be on top to actually lead.
You know, being a young in likeI said, in my early 20s, I kind
of had this mindset of you know, I wanted to lead one do this,
that and the other, and it wasgetting me in a lot of trouble

(02:55):
because I was still immature, you know.
So I didn't know stuff and Iwas just saying stuff because I
had a lot of head knowledge andthis had happened throughout my,
you know, college, all the kindof stuff that haven't had a lot
of head knowledge but notreally knowing the people side
of it.
And so reading his stuff hasreally helped me to learn the
people side of leadership andeven you know, the internal

(03:16):
pieces that leaders need inorder to be able to operate in
integrity, to be able to operate, you know, to in the best
interest of the people and havethe best results, because as a
leader, we should all wantresults for anything that we do.
And so you know now you knowbeing the chair of different
boards, you know leading inother different things, you know

(03:36):
, of course, leave my ownbusiness and all that type of
stuff I'm able to betterinfluence the people that that I
want to help because, again,it's all about helping.
So if you ever get a chance topick up a John Maxwell book I've
read about six, seven, I don'tknow, probably 10 of his books.
If you ever see his name, justpick the book up.
I don't care which one, I saywhich one is your favorite.
I can't even pick my favorite.

(03:57):
Like I said, 360 degree leaderwas my first.
I think.
21 irrefutable laws ofleadership was one that really
was a page turning for me.
Then he wrote one calledEveryone Communicates, not
Everyone Connects, which wasamazing and I was like, oh man,
that's crazy.
So the next one on the list isRobert Green, and I know

(04:19):
everybody knows Robert Greenfrom the 48 Laws of Power, and I
think I've read every RobertGreen book that there is.
I've read, of course, 48 Lawsof Power, 33 Strategies of War,
art of Seduction, mastery eventhough what he did was 50 Cent
and the most recent one I'veread was the Laws of Human
Nature and his mind for historyand really understanding how

(04:44):
things happened in the past andwhat they mean and how, you know
, they affect people.
Like that really helps me tohave Shaped my worldview and how
I kind of view Different things, different situations and what
goes on in life and all thattype of stuff.
So when I look at somethinghappening on television I can
kind of see historically what ishappening in the past.
Or when I see stuff on the news, or when I see stuff you know

(05:06):
Like different, you know crazystuff going on, I kind of can
look at Robert Greenblatt Okay, who's in who?
Who's trying to seduce thepeople?
Who is who's in power on this?
Who is um?
Who's influencing this?
What strategy are they using?
What war is going on?
You know all of those things.
I mean he even has even helpedme, you know, that book mastery

(05:27):
to want to master, not just begood at something, but to master
what I do.
So Robert Green he's on my listas well and this is in no
particular order.
I'm not saying that.
You know, I like John Maxwellmore than Robert Green's thing.
Like that I can't really pick.
I would love for the two ofthem to do one together, like
that's my dream book, a book ofleadership written by Robert
Green and John Maxwell.

(05:47):
If anybody knows those two, tell them that.
I personally request thatbecause I think it will be
really, really, really dopecollaboration.
You rather think they would, because John Maxwell is really,
um, you know, he's veryreligious, he's to be a pastor
and, and you know, robert Greenseems to have a kind of, um, you
know, a moral.
Look, not good, not bad, butkind of like, hey, he doesn't

(06:09):
approach things from a, a moralstandpoint, just from a historic
standpoint.
So I don't know how they wouldmesh or you know, because you
know John Maxwell with what hedoes extremely, um, christian
and is really good and what hedoes as well.
And last but not least, um,malcolm glad.
Well, now, I'm very, very newto them.

(06:29):
I've heard people talk aboutMalcolm glad well for years.
Um, and I, uh, people aresaying you should read Michael
will add no tipping point, readthat.
And I was like, okay, you don'tget around to it.
I never really got around to it, but last year I picked up
tipping point a bra.
So I can tell Malcolm glad.

(06:51):
Well, kind of has a um, aliberal spin to what he does, I
can tell you know, kind of likein his solution based things.
But when it comes to the facts,um, and, and him being able to
to outline and see the the, theway that things have happened.
You know, between tipping point, um, outliers, um, even what

(07:11):
was the other one I read, ah,shoots on Timmy the tongue.
Y'all know the other joint, blank yo, my man is serious when
it comes to the history, like,so you ever get a chance to pick
up one of his books, know thatit's gonna be tough.
Like um, tipping point reallywas the one that said, oh, wow,
he really, really really knowswhat he's talking about.

(07:32):
So you know, I really um, thoseare my three favorite authors.
Like I said, I just wanted to.
You know who are your favorite.
I would love to know who arethe authors that you like, that
you enjoy, that you've come tolike over time.
You know that that influenceyou.
Whether being business would bea personal like all that.
As people know, I don't reallyrealize stuff about.
I don't read a lot of fiction.

(07:53):
I don't read a lot of socialjustice stuff.
I don't read a lot of stuff.
You know different commentariesmy main focus is on.
You know I like history.
I like history but more thananything, I like history in a
perspective that can make me andmy clients very successful.
Also, if you have not, you know, picked up a book in a while, I
recommend that you do.

(08:13):
I recommend that you pick up abook very soon because you know,
the more information that youhave, the better.
You know I was listening to apodcast today and the.
They were talking about youknow that you got to kind of
begin to change the way that weOperate.
You know the stuff that we dochange things about ourselves,
and one of the things that thethat the person on the podcast

(08:35):
said is they stopped listeningto music in the car.
Now I started listening musicin the car probably maybe was
this 2023, at least 15 years ago, where I thought I was
listening to radio for listeningmusic for a while that I
started listening to to justinformation stuff on the radio.
I was listening to audiobookson CD before you know podcasting
and all that stuff was reallypopular and you know I'll even

(09:00):
listen to sports talk, justanything that was information
based, because that's and so nowthis kind of got addicted to it
.
You know, if you see meAnywhere, I don't go anywhere
without my ear buds.
It's one of the things that Ipick up before I walk out of the
house because I want to have anaudio book, I want to have a
Podcast, something that'sfeeding me information To help
me, even if some of it is forentertainment, but even if it is

(09:22):
just for Just for me to knowsome stuff like I would
definitely Recommend us allstart to get information a
little bit better.
So those are my three Favoriteauthors.
I would love for you to tell mewho your favorite authors are.
You know my number.
In case you missed, it is JohnMaxwell, robert Green and
Malcolm Gladwell, who, have youknow, really Influenced me in my

(09:45):
business.
And, like I said, if anybodyout there you know who a tag I'm
people on Twitter that'swatching I would love for you to
tag those three, or especiallyRobert Green and and and John
Maxwell, because, like I said, aHistory book with those two on
leadership Yo, that's gonna becrazy, but yeah, that's about it

(10:07):
.
So tell me what yours are inthe comments.
I would love to know.
But until then, let's rock.
