Speaker 1 (00:02):
it's time to check
out your neighbors on the good
neighbor podcast, where we bringgood vibes, great neighbors and
local businesses in southwestflorida together.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Here's your host,
cabo jim shaller welcome good
neighbors, episode number 255 ofthe good neighbor podcast.
Today we have good neighborbrawley adams from wealth
builders.
Welcome, hey, jim.
Good seeing you again, pleasureto have you back on the show
and, uh, you've got some changesand new things going on, so why
don't we start off with that?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, I started
Wealth Builders as I've been
working in the financial serviceindustry for a few years now.
I've been able to develop aphilosophy, develop a strategy
to help people build wealth.
So I'm excited to kind oflaunch Wealth Builders.
We have a YouTube page.
We're going to have anewsletter, just kind of getting
educational content andinformation out there to people
(00:49):
that need it.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
And that's the big
thing education.
A lot of people aren't aware ofwhat's out there and have a lot
of questions about what's outthere as well, too.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
So for those that
don't know and didn't tune in
last time, let's back up yourstory a little bit on how you
got involved in all this.
Yeah, so I've always been apeople person.
Building relationships, workingwith people, has always been a
passion of mine.
Me and my wife had people thatinfluenced us on our personal
finances early off in ourcareers and in our marriage, and
so finally decided to take theplunge and work with people on
their personal wealth buildingstrategies by becoming a
financial advisor and afinancial planner, and so it's
(01:33):
kind of what got me into thisindustry is really the people,
yeah, and then taking care ofpeople and pointing them in the
right direction.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
We've all had some
type of challenge, and obviously
through transition as well too, there are challenges involved.
Is there something that you'vegone through that you can kind
of look back at now and you'relike finally made it through and
now I'm where I need to be?
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, I really think
the big thing is, you know,
going into business for yourselfor creating something that you
don't know if it's going to work.
It's scary, right, it takes alot of risk and you know I've
had support of my family, support of some key people in my
life to help make it possible.
But it's hard work and you gotto stick with it and you got to.
(02:14):
You know, continue doing thethings that you believe in are
going to, you know, createsuccess and manifest it that way
.
So that's kind of what I got todo now Got to continue pushing
forward.
There's going to be a lot ofups and downs but you know, just
like investing, just like thestock market, if you stick with
it you'll you know you'll createwealth one day.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Absolutely yeah, Just
stick with the persistence.
That's it, so let's.
Are there any?
There's a lot changing withinthe industry.
I guess number one.
But are there any maybe mis ormisconceptions that we can kind
of clear up with what's going oncurrently?
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, I mean this
question could be answered over
two hours, but ultimately, Ithink you know I chose the name
Wealth Builders because buildingwealth isn't only for the, for
the rich, and that's kind of amisconception or a myth that I
hear a lot from people is Idon't have any money, I don't
have any wealth, so how am Isupposed to build it?
It's not really determined byincome level.
(03:08):
It's more of a discipline and astrategy that you implement in
order to get to where you wantto go, and so taking small baby
steps and having the rightguidance with people that you
know you trust is going to be abig thing.
And you know that's probablyone of the biggest
(03:29):
misconceptions I hear regardingthe idea of wealth building.
Right, there's a lot ofdifferent ways to do it, but
ultimately it's just disciplineand sticking with a strategy and
you know seeing the fruits ofthat Just like losing weight or,
you know, getting fit it'sgoing to have the same
implications.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
It's a process, but
the important part is that
you're building it right.
It's growing, it's moving inthe right direction.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
One day at a time.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Are there certain
things that are maybe changing
or trending in the industrycurrently?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yeah.
So one of the biggest ones thatI see is there's going to be a
big transition of wealth from, let's say, the baby boomer
generation to their kids andgrandkids over the next 15, 20
years.
A large population of Americaright now is currently retired
or going to be enteringretirement soon, and so
(04:20):
essentially, that wealth whetherthat's real estate assets,
business assets, stock marketcash is going to be
transitioning to, you know, let's say, my generation or the
generation under it, and we wereraised differently and we have
a different philosophy aroundinvesting or philosophy around
(04:41):
wealth building, and so I thinkthere's going to be a big change
in what that looks like, whether that's just investing in
a lot more risky assets, investing in a lot more assets
that produce cashflow, like realestate or businesses.
We've just been exposed to somuch more information that we
can actually utilize in buildingwealth, so I think that's gonna
(05:03):
be one of the biggest thingsthat a lot of people see, and,
working in the industry, I wannatake advantage of that.
I wanna help people with thattransition and what it looks
like and, like you said, that'sa big part of what's gonna be
happening here in the nearfuture.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
I forget for the last
time we talked.
Are you from Southwest Floridaoriginally?
Speaker 1 (05:19):
From Polk County near
Lakeland, Florida, up near
Tampa, my wife's from Naples, soit brought us down here.
That's exactly.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
We love it down here.
We love Southwest Florida, so Iknow you're a very busy man.
You've got a lot going on withfamily and business, but when
you do get a moment of free time, what do you enjoy doing?
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Probably going to
either take my son disc golfing
in the park or to the playgroundin the park or go to the beach.
It's where we spend a lot ofour time.
Recently I have another babydue in July, so that may change
for a little bit while we'renavigating those waters of going
from one kid to two, butultimately it's getting outside
enjoying this paradise that welive in.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
So is there one thing
you wish our listeners knew
about wealth builders that maybethey wouldn't be too familiar
with?
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Um, yeah, that
there's no perfect time or
opportunity to start Right.
Um, it's just a, it's adecision that you have to make.
Um, that you want to stick to astrategy that you know, me and
my team can help you create, uh,in order to get to your
short-term and long-term goals.
So there's, you're never goingto be, you're never gonna have
enough money, you're never gonnahave all your stuff together
(06:25):
where it's the perfect time tostart, and so it's just about
making active decision toactually want to make, make
active change in your life andin your personal finances.
So, whether that's getting outof debt, whether that's making
more money, whether that'sinvesting properly, whether
(06:47):
that's starting to protect theassets that you've built up.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
