Speaker 1 (00:05):
Let's talk about the
season finale.
This podcast contains materialintended for a mature audience.
Before proceeding, please checkyour local laws and confirm
that you are an adult.
Welcome to Full Cow, a podcastabout leather, kink and BDSM.
(00:42):
My name is Edge, my pronounsare he, him, and I am your host.
And welcome to the seasonfinale for season three.
In this episode, I'll give yousome of the significant stats of
the past season, as well assome of the highlights I'd like
to share with you before lookingforward to the possibilities
(01:03):
that may come with a possibleseason four.
It's a great way to wrap up theyear, and I'm grateful for all
of you for joining me on thisjourney in 2024.
So let's get started.
So let's start with the numbers, and I'm pulling these from two
(01:25):
sources.
The first is Buzzsprout, andBuzzsprout is the host for my
podcast.
Their servers have the actualMP3 files of every episode that
I create and I'm pretty surethey just send out a kind of RSS
link to the differentdirectories.
So I think anytime anyonelistens to an episode, it is
(01:45):
ultimately being pulled fromBuzzsprout's servers and
therefore I think that this isthe most collectively accurate
data there is.
The other source I use isSpotify, because they do a whole
wrapped for creators, just likethey do a wrapped if you're a
Spotify listener.
So those are our two mainsources of data and we're going
(02:06):
to start with Buzzsprout andaccording to Buzzsprout, the
number one city for listenersthis year was Chicago.
Thank you, chicago.
And then it gets interesting.
Followed by New York notsurprising, melbourne, australia
hey Melbourne, how are youdoing?
Los Angeles and Edmonton.
And Edmonton surprised mebecause it was a couple hundred
(02:30):
downloads in Edmonton and whoknew there were so many kinky
listeners, or so few but highlyobsessed kinky listeners in
Edmonton?
So big shout out to Edmontonfor listening in.
According to Buzzsprout, thepodcast was listened in 88
countries this past year.
(02:52):
I'm still not sure I have beenlistened to in Antarctica.
I can confirm that I hit everyother continent except
Antarctica.
I am hopeful for a kinky polarresearcher who is going to
download a couple episodes fromthe South Pole.
Or perhaps, if you are anadventure traveler and you're
(03:14):
doing a cruise to the South Pole, you may want to just download
while you're at the South Pole.
Download a couple of episodes.
But seriously, not surprisingly, the top countries were the
United States, united Kingdomand Canada.
I'm obviously pretty big in theEnglish-speaking Western world.
(03:34):
Following that was Germany andthen Australia.
So I don't know, edmonton, Imean you repped Canada pretty
damn hard.
I cannot believe you did notpull Canada into the top five.
Come on, canada.
Oh, never mind, what am Iseeing?
You absolutely did.
This is what happens when Irecord live and don't actually
(03:56):
plan things out.
Good job, edmonton.
You brought Canada to thenumber three listener.
So, according to Buzzsprout, thetop episodes the number one was
the interlude on chastity andmilking, and I will have much
more to say about this in alittle bit.
The second most popular episodewas Mentors, followed by
Digital Kink.
(04:17):
All together in 2024, betweenJanuary 1st 2024 and December
27th 2024, which is when I amrecording this there were 25,739
downloads of the podcast, andthat sort of blows my mind.
I am so grateful to all of youfor your support and your
(04:39):
listenership, because it means alot to me.
I mean, I talk about why allthe time, so I'm not going to
rehearse that.
So let's go to my Spotifywrapped.
Great data from Spotify, sortof great data, hopeful data from
Spotify.
I had a 36% increase inlisteners and a 73% increase in
(05:02):
followers.
So thank you, spotify-ers.
67% of my Spotify listenersdiscovered me this year.
Fantastic Welcome Spotify-ersto Full Cow.
And according to Spotify, thetop episode was Mentors, which I
don't think that makes sense, but okay, it was streamed 143%
(05:26):
more than the average episode.
Now what's interesting is someof the demographic data that I
got from Spotify and if you'velistened, in fact I have a whole
interlude on my key demo, whichis usually like 25 to 34, right
, my peak demographic hasshifted.
I think it's like 29% it wasthe highest percent.
(05:46):
My highest demographic rightnow is 35 to 44.
Now I think what this means isthat some of y'all are growing
up with me.
Some of y'all have moved fromthe 25 to 34 demographic into
the 35 to 44 demographic, andthat makes me feel like I don't
(06:07):
know, super special, like I'mpart of your leather upbringing.
I don't know, but it's alsokind of nice to know that I am
attracting listeners who are alittle closer to my age.
In fact, according to Spotifylisteners 55 and over grew by
141%.
So yay for leather people of acertain age as I am.
(06:32):
According to Spotify, I wasonly listened to in 56 countries
.
We don't like that.
We're going to go with theBuzzsprout 88 countries data
instead and not surprising, notshocking at all.
What music do you listen to?
Spotify podcast listeners wholisten to Full Cow, pop, lo-fi
(06:56):
and Broadway Maybe something alittle stereotypical there.
On Spotify, I was a top 10podcast for 521 fans, top 5 for
340, and for 106 very speciallisteners.
I was your number one podcastand thank you for that.
(07:19):
Thank you a lot.
Now, according to Spotify Idon't know where they're getting
this my creator style is quotethe storyteller.
I have no idea what that means, but there you go and that's the
bulk of the data that we gotfrom this year and I think it's
(07:42):
fantastic.
You know this podcast startedas a way to fill time and space
after a breakup and to see itgrow into something that has its
own standing is reallybeautiful.
Look at the individual numbers.
You know it's fascinatingbecause I was reviewing top
(08:04):
episodes and when I look it'slike, oh God, none of the
episodes this year are doing asgood as, say, the episodes from
last year.
Well, that's because theepisodes from last year had all
their listeners from last year, plus more listens this year.
So I have to remember thatlistens grow over time and I
(08:25):
should probably at some point dosome point in time kind of data
of like after 30 days, whatdoes an episode do?
And I can probably pull thatdata from somewhere.
This is a passion project, morethan any of my other media, and
what I mean by that is I have avery, very clear like.
(08:46):
All the metrics on the rest ofmy media are just super
available to me.
I know exactly how many peopleliked a video, how many people
watched it, how long theywatched it, how many times they
re-watched it.
I know how many viewers Ireached.
I know how many people viewedmy profile.
I know how old they were, Iknow where they're from, I know
what time of day they're on.
(09:09):
A wealth of data and I don't useit a lot, but it's interesting.
But it gives me a much bettersense of impact of anything I do
on the rest of my social media.
So, for example, you know I doa lot of educational video.
I do might have, let's say, 800views, and then I'm getting
(09:45):
ready for the bar and I put onsome gear and I do a nine-second
video of me doing a littletwirl in leather.
It's really fascinating.
It's really fascinating whatsells on the rest of social
media.
But what's beautiful about thepodcast is because I don't have
(10:09):
quite the same depth orgranularity of data for the
impact of the podcast at myfingertips that it allows me to
just sort of do it because Ilove doing it.
I'm saying that with a slightlilt to my voice because I love
doing it.
It is a lot of work, but I lovedoing it.
But it is a lot of work andit'll be interesting to see how
(10:31):
that plays out in the nextseason is a lot of work and
it'll be interesting to see howthat plays out in the next
season, if there is a nextseason.
We'll talk about that more in abit.
So that's the data from seasonthree of Full Cow and it's great
Actually.
You know what I should havedone?
I should have listened to lastseason's season finale and done
some comparison of the data.
But again, I'm not really.
(10:51):
This is a passion project.
I'm not really driven by datahere.
But in the next segment I'mgoing to talk a little bit about
some of my personal experienceof recording this past season
and episodes I really loved andthings that I think people
should be paying attention to.
So let's go do that.
You know it's not always aboutthe numbers, and so part of what
(11:16):
I like to do in the seasonfinale is reflect on some
episodes that I think are reallykind of under-listened.
They are under-appreciated, andperhaps if you've not given
them a listen, I would recommendthat you do so, and I would
recommend that you do so.
(11:37):
But first of all, it is utterlyfascinating to me that the
number one episode of this pastseason was the interlude on
chastity and milking, which onBuzzsprout had 200 more
downloads than the next popularepisode Mentors, than the next
popular episode mentors.
This is interesting to me for acouple of reasons.
(12:02):
First of all, interludes neverdo as well as full episodes.
Why, I don't know.
People don't like the creaking, they're too short, people don't
listen to them, I don't know.
But I know statistically thatan episode will always have more
listens than an interlude.
But I love doing the interludesbecause they're so easy.
I don't have to plan a wholetopic, I just have to really put
on my langlet, sit down, startrecording and talk about what's
(12:24):
going on in my life.
And that's why I love doing theinterludes and why they will
remain a feature of this podcastfor as long as this podcast
lasts, whether that's threeseasons or more, but it's always
been really interesting.
So to see an interlude trounceevery other episode of the
season is fascinating, though, because the single most popular
(12:59):
episode across all three seasonsof the podcast is the Chastity
episode and in fact, all of theChastity episodes.
I think I have two interludes,I have an episode, I think I
have this interlude right.
They're all extremely, extremely popular, so are
extremely, extremely popular.
So you people love chastity.
That's what this is about.
You people love chastity.
All of this is reallyinteresting to me as well,
(13:22):
because I've now taught my classon chastity twice, and it was
sort of like a complete dud bothtimes.
The first time I did it was atCLAW in LA, and there was one
person who showed up for theclass and three of my friends
who were there to kind ofsupport me.
It was deeply demoralizing, because when you put a lot of
(13:43):
energy into a class teaching toessentially one person, the
energetic dynamics there aredestructive and erosive.
The second time I did thechastity class was, you know,
the Eagle and Wilton Manners didthe street fair for Florida
Leather Weekend and they weredoing classes, and I'm like I
don't think this is a good idea.
You shouldn't be doing classesin the middle of a street fair,
(14:06):
but whatever.
And I did my chastity class andit was later in the day and it
was in one of the rooms of thebar and people started just sort
of filling up in the bar andwere talking as one does in a
bar, but it was so loud that Ihad to shout, shout, scream at
the top of my lungs to be heard.
It had a smaller attendancethan my class earlier in the day
(14:28):
, which was on protocol, and soI was in the room and I this is
like bizarrely interesting to mebecause I can see like the only
data that is abundantly clearfrom this podcast is people go
wild for chastity, chastity, chastity, chastity, chastity,
chastity.
So I'm like, oh, I'll do theclass on chastity, I'm going to
(14:49):
take everything I've done fromthe different podcasts, from the
video series, and I'm going todo a class.
But every time I do the classit's a total effing disaster.
So I don't know what to make ofthat.
People, maybe you only like tolisten about chastity, I don't
know.
I will say there are a coupleother circumstances.
You know, at CLAW this was CLAWLA last year CLAW has a
(15:13):
tendency to sometimes, I think, overdo education.
I think I was one of like fouror five chastity classes.
There were multiple chastityclasses and that obviously then
sort of really dilutes theattendance.
So that was part of the factorthere.
And this street fair thing, man, I just don't know.
(15:35):
I knew it was a bad idea.
I knew it was a bad idea, soI've not given up on the
Chastity class, nor have I givenup on Chastity episodes, should
there be another season of FullCow.
But this is a remarkable yearwill go down in full cow history
as the season where aninterlude trounced every actual
(16:01):
episode of the season.
So let me turn my attention to,I think, the episode that is
really underrated, that peoplehave probably not listened to,
just based on its standing.
You know, mentors was thenumber one and that makes sense
because it was the seasonpremiere and because it had
(16:21):
guests and I think people likeit when I have guests on and
it's a great topic and it's animportant topic.
The problem with guests isthey're a logistical nightmare.
I tried to have guests on acouple other episodes this
season and it just it reallydidn't work out.
It's really hard to coordinateand I don't know if there are
going to be guests in any futureseason of Full Cow, but you
know so it's not surprising.
(16:42):
Mentors did well First season.
It had guests.
It's a popular topic and yay,yay for mentors.
But I really thought the episodeon covers was really good and I
looked back at all the episodes.
This season was a middlingseason.
The topics were not my favoritetopics between you and me,
(17:03):
sorry.
It was a hard year.
It was a long year.
This podcast is a lot of work.
I don't know that these were thebest topics, but I do think
covers is an important episode.
I was just with a buddingleather person recently someone
I really respect, who I think isgoing to become a really
(17:23):
fantastic leather person whothought Muir was what the cover
was.
It's not a cover, it's a Muircap.
No, no, no.
Muir is a brand, much likeKleenex is a brand, much like
Band-Aid is a brand, much likeXerox is a brand, and I cover
that in a covers episode.
I think there's so muchmisinformation about covers that
(17:47):
I'm like, wow, that is theepisode.
That is the episode everyoneneeds to listen to.
So after you have finishedlistening to the interlude on
Chastity and Milking for theumpteenth time, I would like to
recommend that you go check outthe episode on covers, because I
think it's not well-performed Imean it's middle of the road
(18:12):
for the season as a whole but Ithink it was a good episode and
I think it deserves morelistenership.
So please give it a little bitmore listenership.
Okay, and so that was seasonthree.
We've looked at the stats andI've given you my personal
insights on what I liked aboutthe season, and so next let's
(18:33):
talk about what could be comingfor another season.
So let's talk about season four.
I think the first thing to knowis that I do expect there to be
a season four of Full Cow, andI've been thinking about what
(18:54):
that looks like.
So first of all, I need a break, so do not expect a full
episode until April.
I might pop in and do aninterlude here or there, just
sort of bonus stuff, but if andI just cannot commit to this,
(19:15):
but I'm expecting to do a seasonfour and it should be coming
out in April.
So here's some of the things Iexpect for season four.
The first thing is that I'mgoing to revisit the most
popular episodes of the firstthree seasons, and that means
that should and when season four, episode one, launches, it will
(19:36):
be on drumroll, big surprisechastity.
Not only have I had a lot moreexperience through my journeys
with devotion and now withsteelworks, but I've been really
being a lot more thoughtfulabout the intersection of
dominance and chastity, whatit's like to be dominant and
(19:56):
locked in chastity, how that canfeed into your dominance.
So I'm pretty sure the openingepisode of the season is going
to be about dominant chastity, essentially, with more updates
and more lessons learned aboutexploring chastity, living in
chastity, doing runs of chastity, all the chastity, all the
(20:17):
chastity stuff.
Because what we've learned isthat you people, you people love
chastity.
So that will then initiate aseries of throughout the season
revisits of other popularepisodes I think, for example,
the Origins episode.
Not surprisingly, it was thefirst episode that I think is
the example.
The Origins episode notsurprisingly, it was the first
(20:38):
episode.
That I think is the second mostpopular episode.
I think the third most popularepisode is Leather.
So doing an updated episode onwhere to buy gear, what gear to
buy, where are good sources, howto take care of it.
So we're going to be doingupdates, we're going to be doing
revisits of the most popularepisodes of the first three
seasons and then I'll do somenew topics as well and, of
course, interludes, because theinterludes are easy and fun and
(21:02):
enjoyable to share those partsof my life with all of you.
I'm also planning a couple ofnew segments.
We do already have Ask Edge, which I love and would encourage
everyone to keep sendingquestions, and now on Buzzsprout
there's something called FanMail, which actually I think you
can actually text me, you cantext me comments or things, and
(21:25):
I think there's somethingsimilar on Spotify.
So I really want to lean intointeraction and engagement,
particularly since I don'texpect to have a lot of
interviews in season four giventhe logistical challenges.
So, hearing from more of all ofyou and inviting you all to
participate through yourquestions and comments I expect
a lot more of that in seasonfour.
(21:47):
The next thing I'm expecting isa new mini segment that I'm
calling Makers, and this wasreally inspired by my time with
Chris of Steelworks.
You know, I guess I don't knowif this is in any of the
podcasts I just recently got aSteelworks cage.
If you don't know Steelworks, steelworks Extreme is in some
ways a kind of the top of theline maker for ball capture
(22:12):
chastity devices.
They are quite bespoke.
They are handmade, kind ofcrafted from a solid chunk of
either stainless steel ortitanium, cnc milled and then
hand milled and hand finishedand hand polished and extremely
comfortable, extremely beautiful, extremely expensive and
(22:33):
extremely effective.
So I just recently was able tomove to Steelworks and as part
of that I happened to be inMontreal for American
Thanksgiving, which is justNovember in Montreal, and so I
was able to meet with Chris andget measured for the ring, which
is obviously always the keymeasurement for any sort of ball
capture device, and I got tospend time talking with him and
(22:57):
learning about his story of howsteelworks kind of came into
being and I thought, wow, thisis really fascinating.
And so I would hope my plan isfor season four, throughout the
season, to have these littlesegments where I tell the story
of makers leather makers, chastity device makers, whip
makers I don't know event makers, people in the community who
(23:22):
make things, who have the humantouch on items that come into
our gear and king practice andlearning their stories of how
they came into making, what theythink about making.
And so I know I will start withChris of Steelworks.
I might then hopefully doFetish Daddy.
I'm lining up a couple otherpeople that I've got my sights
(23:45):
on who hopefully I can talk tothem a little bit and then tell
their story for them, with theirapproval.
So that'll be sort of the biginnovation of season four and
that's sort of what we'replanning.
I have yet to choose the coverart for season four, so I need
to work on that and I would notbe opposed to new theme music.
(24:06):
No, no, thank you.
This was actually customwritten for me and I've always
kind of loved it, kind of didn't.
Kind of loved it, kind ofdidn't.
I really got used to it.
I will say, obviously I've hadit for three seasons, but I
(24:26):
don't know that it would be badto have a new theme song, new
transition music, new intros, new outros to sort of freshen up
the podcast.
So that might come as well.
But I'm saying please expect anepisode in April, because that
gives me all of January tobreathe, all of February to
(24:48):
breathe, and then March to panicand get an episode out, and get
it out for April.
In fact it may not even cometill late April or May, I don't
know.
It would be really nice to have.
You know this is a nine-monthseason If there's three months
of hiatus.
It'd be really nice to actuallyhave three months of hiatus,
(25:08):
and so if I could be able totake off January, february and
March to rest and recharge, Imight do that and that's the
plan.
I think there are a couple ofreasons why you should expect a
new season to come Firstcontinually.
The those of you who reach outto me either through social
(25:34):
media, direct messages, or yousee me at an event or you send
me a message through the AskEdge thing I've had so many
people really share very to meimpactful stories of what this
podcast has meant to them to me,impactful stories of what this
(25:57):
podcast has meant to them, andit just makes me feel special
and honored and useful and itmakes me feel all the things,
and so all of you who have evertaken the time to give me any
feedback on this podcast, it'sjust priceless to me and it is
the primary reason why thispodcast will move forward.
(26:19):
Beyond that, I'm excited tokind of play with the podcast to
revisit topics, because I gotto say, one of the hard things
about doing the podcast isthinking up topics and there are
actually a couple glaring holesin the topics list I need to
fill as well.
I really need to have a rubberepisode and you know, pussycat
(26:42):
lives in Fort Lauderdale.
I should be able to sort of getthat topic nailed down.
But that requires logistics ofreaching out to someone and
scheduling and asking them tojoin the podcast, and that's
often very complicated.
So there are a couple ofglaring holes that need to be
(27:04):
filled.
But I'm also very excited aboutthis sort of revisiting topics
that people have already reallyloved and really sort of
expanding and going deeper andmoving into new directions and
seeing how that resonates forpeople.
So, and then I'm excited aboutsort of new segments, and this
is, you know, these are all, these are the makers.
Series will be one new segment.
Who knows what else I mightthink of?
You know, maybe it'll beproduct reviews, maybe it'll be
(27:27):
more story time, moremeditations, right, like?
I had a lot of ideas of how Iwas going to sort of diversify
the podcast and they didn't allmanifest.
So maybe it's time for all ofthem to then manifest.
We shall see, we shall see.
For now it is the end of 2024and I am ready for some rest,
(28:01):
some rest.
I am just ready for some rest, and so I'm going to wish all of
you a peaceful ending to 2024and a hopeful beginning to 2025.
And one way or another, youwill certainly see me in this
podcast at some point in 2025.
Let's just pretend it's goingto be April.
Probably not before, maybe alittle bit later, but let's
pretend I'm going to come backand one day you're going to open
(28:23):
up your podcast listeningdevice and it'll be like oh, new
episode of Full Cow Hooray Ihope it's hooray.
In the meantime, as always, Ijust hope that your leather
journey is really good, and thatdoesn't always mean really easy
and that doesn't always meanreally happy.
Sometimes it means it'schallenging, but challenging in
(28:45):
ways that I hope.
Help you to grow and don't wearyou down, because there's
enough in this world wearing usdown, and I do think that
there's something very specialabout a kink leather journey.
And help.
Yours is very special and Iwill see you all.
No, obviously I won't see you, because this is a podcast.
I will hear you all.
No, I won't hear any of you.
(29:05):
You will hear from me in a fewmonths.
Have a beautiful, beautiful newyear and that's it for this
episode.
Thank you so much for joiningme.
Please consider subscribing oryou can send feedback to edge at
full cow dot show as always.
May your leather journey beblessed.
