Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning to you.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Okay, Paramatta on the weekend, A sort of a more
senior squad played this week, not like a younger squad
from the week before. What did you learn from the
practice game?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Yeah, it was really good to get the guy some
minutes this week. A little bit slow out of the gates.
I think that's because I think there's still going through
a big training phase at the moment, so we'll certainly
taper off the boys going into over the next couple
of weeks going into round one against the Dragon.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Is that common at this time of the year, gym
or does every club sort of do things differently with
the sports science and all that sort of thing.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, I think clubs are doing different things all the time.
All little clubs are trying to get little advantages with
what we're doing with our high performance. So now it
was really good for us to get that run out
against Paramatta, who are certainly going to be a good
side again this year. So I think they ended up
five tries to four in the trial. But at the
end of the game, you make and changes when you
(00:54):
don't want to or have to, and then putting other
people out to get some game time. So it was
all part of a plan going forward into the Dragons
real one mate.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Whenever you get a new coach quite often obviously set
plays and game plan and everything changes. Sometimes a club
that has the new coach in their first early rounds,
it doesn't fully sink in. And then but you see
when the club the penny drops and the club the
players in unison understand the game plan, and then that
(01:23):
you get a lot more wins on the board. Is
that something that you can see happening or do you
think that they're already across everything really well, because I
know des is renowned for drilling his players.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, definitely. I think like a whole structural change that
we're going through at the club isn't going to happen overnight.
It's not just a physical way that we prepare our games.
It's the way we prepare for our game psychologically mentally
about how we identify ourselves and the identity that we
want to try and forward moving forward. So that's not
(01:55):
something that happens over a week or two. That happens
over one pre season than to full season into another
pre season. It can take a couple of years for
that real resilience in mindset and what we're about and
how we identify ourselves. So it'll certainly be something that
will happen over a little bit of time, but there's
also got to be an immediate effect about how we
play our game as well. So I think that's doing
(02:18):
a great job of what we're what we're doing, where
we're tracking and moving forward going into the year. I
think we're in a really good spot.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Now's talking about the big game over in Vegas. What
are your thoughts on it or Jim?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Absolutely sealthy, but we're not there.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, you'd be on the roof somewhere. You'd be the
missing man.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
I reckon I lost a truth.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
And it's been pretty Actually, it's been good not to
get like I think, you know. Ever thought is that
maybe most sides will get over there over the next
few years. So let the first year go over and
get all the teething problems out of the way, and
then we'll come over and have a much cleaner and
easier trip.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Are you talking about the teething teething problems that means
that they need to spounces.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, well I didn't say that. I didn't say anything.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Like that in the paper. They were pretty much calling them.
You know, they've got bounces and security looking after them,
and we were like, oh, they are they're stopping They're
stopping them from themselves rather than protecting them from others.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
I agree, but I think they have a very clever
way of you know, tricking some green people going into
the big sin city too. So okay, yeah, young Blake's
going over there. They're quite easily wound in with a
little bit of bait in the water, so actually there'll
be plenty of people to keep it low on.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Them, so they are sexpouss. Then I love it. Hey,
And just finally I'm going to sportsman lunch coming up
raising funds for the Blamble Jets. One of the old
Boys and Dead is going to be there too. Did
you want to talk about that? Get people along?
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Yeah, no, I think it'll be a great occasional. It's
great love the Ballamble Jets. It's a great little club
in the in the Tweed Valley there, so hopefully people
can get along and just support a really good cause.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah, fifteenth March is going to be a good lineup
as well. Yourself, Red Richie Dares, a whole bunch of
other people so you go and support your local teams.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Fantastic good on your Jim.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I can't wait to catch you next week.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Thanks very He is a friend
