Speaker 1 (00:00):
E bikes and e scooters. I just want to talk
on those now separately. I've noticed the last couple of
weeks e bikes, a couple of things, and scooters. They're
going probably around eighty kilometers an hour, sometimes even in
a forty zone when you're in your car.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I was doing sixty just in a residential.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Area and I was passed, and this guy sped past
me on a scooter and he was easily doing around
eighty kilometers I think even faster.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Can you liked here to the speed limit on any vehicle?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well, yeah, if you can't go a speed limit if yeah, yeah,
it doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
It's car, truck.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
It's just like you can't any type of vehicle with
alcohol in your system, even a bike. Yeah, ride a
bike drunk either, I think, yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
You get to you get fined for that.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
So and I must admit, and these kids are talented,
but albeit when we were kids, we used to do
it too, but we didn't have electric box.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
We had to pedal, but the backing me and my cousin.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Do you think pedals are going to become like wind winder?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
What are they? Wind up windows?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
What are they?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Probably?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
How sad you can't even do exercise. You want your
kids to go out and exercise, but they get it
on an electric box. Anyway, kids doing monos in the
middle of the road at high speed, they've got skill.
I've seen them do it for hundreds of meters. So
whilst whilst I'm acknowledging you good at it, it's only
one percentage of a slip and you could be in

(01:32):
a terrible accident.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
So I think every time I driving past them, giving
them a wide berth, I'm like, don't you fall over
in front of my car.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
And sometimes no helmets. But I'm still at the same time,
whilst I'm judgy, I'm also going, wow.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
That's such a bloke thing. That is so good. I'm
full judging. I'm full going mum on them. If your
mother knew you were doing that.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
We really want to say that out the window to
some fifteen year old.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Kid, And I'm going, if I could do that, I'd
be out it a little bit like that.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
But now I want to focus in on the ocean Way,
which is a beautiful thing here on the Gold Coast,
so good. We're lucky all our residents and our tourists
and everyone to get this beautiful ocean walk all the
way pretty much you can walk from Burley or even
past Burly Spit all the way through down to Burley. Okay,
so scooters and bikes, there's a question now coming up

(02:27):
saying that scooters and bikes should be banned from the
ocean Walk because there's been so many more accidents now
where people that are just going for a walk are
getting hurt. Recently, a lady in her fifties had her
ribs broken in an accident and she was taken a hospital.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
She wasn't on it, she was hit.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
She was hit by a dog recently was run over
by one and was like yelping. And some of the
times these people are getting hit and the scooter rider
or bike rider are keeping the going. It's hit and run.
Oh no, it's not good. And it's happening more and more,
and it's more often. Someone was also hit recently and

(03:08):
they had the ambulance come and they were putting the
spinal brace and everything with the neck brace and all
that sort of thing on.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
We nippers at Northcliff and there's an accident there. So yeah,
on a Sunday. Now, they've got barriers to make you
dismount and walk through the nipper area and then continue.
But people still and it's making adults parents angry. Well, yeah,
you know how it is.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yah, it was the perfect description, but it isn't.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
It makes you feel old and cranky like if anything.
Obviously there's a safety in the security of everyone else,
But when you sit in there going.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Stay down, you think, who am I?

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I hate myself for saying that I used to be
cool once, but we have to care about our kids.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Well, you don't want to vigilante coming out and putting
like fish wire across the thing. Oh, yes, slow them down.
I saw it on Instagram just recently. These people put
these iron gat up and all these people just running
into it because they couldn't see. So what do you
think should scooters and e bikes? What what have you
seen lately?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Should they electric be gone from the ocean?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Should it be on the Ocean Way or not? And
the other question is should these if they can go
those speeds, should.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
They have a registration on them?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Should they be registered?

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Because then if something like that happens, a hit and run,
you can look up and you maybe get the registration
of the person that has it. Oh, well, yeah, that
should be something that's looked at, given they can go
so fast, and given there are so many accidents.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
So give us call a family pass to Disney on
Ice up for grabs. If you call through right now,
you could be the person to score a double five seven, one,
one two nine. Disney on US road Trip Adventures coming
to Brisbane in June school holidays. We're talking electric scooters,
