Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
She's a woman of the moment. Her name is a Noxia.
She's the young busker who was busking in Queen Street
Mall and Teddy Swims popped by and ended up singing
a song with her. She has been in the news
for the last twenty four hours everywhere you look. This
was her on the Today Show yesterday.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
But have a look at this on the streets. This
is the Queen Street Mall.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
This was just.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Yeah, so this is how it kind of started for you,
didn't it the busking and that's where we all first
saw it.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, it's always great to walk by something like that,
you know, And I don't know, it's great that people
were She was getting ready to sing that song anyway, I.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Guess getting ready to sing that song? Were you What
happened to, Noxia?
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I think that must have been the seventh time, just
on repeat, just trying.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
You just played it.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
On repeat, just hoping that he go past a little bit.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, okay, So what was that theory?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
It was? I was hoping hoping that if I played
it over and over and over that maybe per chance
he might be here.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Maybe perhaps, So that's why you knew the words and
he didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, I mean I got some practice.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
In seven rehearsals.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, we wanted to get you in today to hear
you seeing so you're going to do it a little
bit later on. But also, I guess unpacked the whole
busking thing that you do, because I feel you were
just sharing with us that it is your career, this
is what you do. So it's you can make money
out of busking.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
I can live comfortably and very happily with my lifestyle,
so I'm very very good.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
So okay, so we've we've talked about off air. Let's
break down how you make money.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Okay, So I have three avenues at the moment while
I'm busking. I've got the cash that people drop. I've
got the QR code for the electronic payments because cash
is running out. We know this. And I've started live
streaming on TikTok and other platforms so they they are
able to gift me. The people that are watching translates
to money.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I wondered about that because you see it pop up,
and I've often had the mindset of no one's going to.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Do that, but they do, I know, and there are
people like I think it's more the Americans than us.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Okay, okay, And then how does that translate to money
when they're giving you a gift?
Speaker 1 (02:15):
So gifts cost TikTok coins, and to redeem TikTok coins
and purchase them, you load money into TikTok. Okay. That
sounds like a skim it Well it is, but I profit.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Okay, so it does actually work.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
So yeah, it's like bitcoin in a way, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
No, yeah, because you don't do bitcoin though, yeah, yeah,
because it's smart. So okay. So then the live streaming
because we were we thought yesterday we're like, I she
got three point eight million followers on TikTok. That must
be the Teddy Swims effect, but it actually isn't.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
No.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I had a viral moment a few years ago. I
sang tones and eyes dance monkey yeah and saying yeah,
same thing happened. It was. It just took off out
of nowhere and there was there was all of the
followers just just going in. I think within the first
week of me having a TikTok account, I had a
million followers. So very scary.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
And that was a massive song. Yes, three or four
years ago, the song.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
And it's howtually got famous was busking. And then Teddy
Swims is saying it too. So it's a real avenue any.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Young artist, fantastic place to start.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
It is what's so good about it.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
It's it teaches you how to perform, how to navigate
a crowd, and how to entertain. I mean there's no stage,
there's no security guards, there's no there's nothing separating you
from your audience. And so you get that that real
chance to connect with people and to read the crowd
and to read what they want and what works.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
This is fantastic, and so we want you to stick
around and busk for us here in the studio an
audience of.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Gifts.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
All right, so stick around. What do you want to
sing for us? Do you do any originals yet? Or
are you doing mainly covers?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
My songs out? Got my songs out? Am I too
nervous to sing them? Yes?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Okay. Because we were saying, oh, you were about to
get all deals and all that kind of stuff, then
COVID hits. So if you're still doing that part.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I'm still doing it. It took a back seat for
a while, Yes, it wasn't It wasn't easy.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
But you know, maybe we should. You should do teddy swims.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, maybe you should sing. Yeah, maybe walking to the studio.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
